You wouldn't know from the exterior, but this place offers great food, lunch specials are awesome. Service is great. I love coming to this place.

Really amazing hole in the wall Chinese restaurant! Food comes out fast and piping hot! The woman who owns it runs the register and takes great pride in her food. This is a one of a kind dining experience where the attention to detail really shines. If you are adventurous, ask to try her home made pickled vegetables on the side. The chose the right name, because everything truly is A-One!!

If you are looking for fresh, authentic Chinese food, here's the place! This is our third visit and we have had incredible food and service during our visits. The restaurant/dining area is relatively small, but you are able to dine in. They do a lot of take out here. All of the food is made fresh to order and full of flavor. The portions are generous. The proteins are often plated with steamed broccoli, which is a nice addition wth the white/steamed rice. There's always leftovers which is a plus. Also, the containers are durable and microwaveable, convenient to enjoy the leftovers at work/home. The cream cheese wontons and pot stickers are great to add to any order. We really enjoy the orange chicken and orange beef. The Mongolian beef is also a favorite. We order string beans and vegetables with our orders. The venegatbles balance the proteins. Another favorite item, the sesame balls, a must! They are perfect as a palate cleanser/dessert. The restaurant is family owned and the recipes are their own. There are plenty of dishes/choices on the menu; both traditional and non-traditional.

Orange Tofu ($11.95)

Great prices for great food that is cooked to order. Can't ask for more from a quick and easy Chinese food place. Several vegetarian options. The service was very fast and friendly. The indoor seating is meant for quickly eating and leaving and this feels like mostly a takeout place, but I appreciated the option to eat there if you're starving and want food now, haha. We ordered: - Orange Tofu ($11.95) - Vegetable Fried Rice ($8.95) - Szechwan String Bean ($11.95) I'd highly recommend the Orange Tofu--a great vegetarian option and the orange sauce was really nice. The tofu was nice and crispy, which I really appreciate. I was also able to customize the spice level of the orange sauce to a 2 or 3 (mild) out of 10, which was perfect for me--just enough to give some flavor, but not too spicy for me to handle. The Szechwan String Beans were great. A good amount of garlic. Perhaps a bit oily, but still very good. The Vegetable Fried Rice was unremarkable flavor wise, but a solid staple. The veggies, particularly the broccoli, tasted nice and fresh and crisp and good quality.

Great food and a great portions. Amazing flavor food. Highly recommend.

Orange Chicken Lunch Special

Located in a stripmall, it's a small place but the Food is made to order and only took them 5 minutes to bring it to me at one of there handful of tables. The food was very hot and actually had to wait for it to cool down a bit which was nice. The fried rice was very fresh and orange chicken was white meat and large juicy pieces with lots of flavor. It also came with an eggroll that was pretty good too. Overall. I'd highly recommend this place to anyone wanting good quality Chinese food

This place is really a gem. Found this place going to get cookies a couple stores down. We decided to eat there. We got Chow mein mixed meat, orange beef, chicken wings (s&p) and fried rice with chicken, beef and shrimp. Ordering was fast and quick. Down fall was that they can't give you water cups...you had to buy their water bottles. Not much going in the ambiance but there are some cool wall decorations. Maybe music would be nice. Did hear the sound of DoorDash orders coming through, so that's good. Customers were coming in to order and you can tell they are regulars. Wish I could be but we live a little too far to be coming here all the time. Anyways...did was delicious! There seriously nothing to complain about. Well except for the wings...it didn't have the flavor of salt n pepper wings I am used to from the South Bay or Mira Mesa area. But my husband and my daughter both liked it but of course said nothing compared to what we get elsewhere. So we won't be getting that next time. Which is fine because there's a whole lot of other choices for us to still try. It was interesting to see seafood boil options. Not really a place I would be ordering that. We usually get that at a solely "seafood boil" restaurant. Not a whole lot of seating if you are dining in but eating cooked right off the wok made the food that much more amazing!

Mongolian Beef

Everything is cooked fresh. Mongolian beef is my favorite plate and so delicious. Family owned restaurant and staff was helpful. Definitely recommend!!

Singapore Mi Fun

Singaporean noodles -- spice level was mild and super spicy! So be aware if you order mild. 14.95 for the meal through delivery wasn't bad but they forgot to include the utensils and napkins (I was staying in a hotel studying for an interview and didn't want to leave for anything as it was a very late delivery) Overall the portion was alottt and the protein to noodle ratio was great

Sweet & Sour Chicken - Very we'll fried, tasted clean and fresh..
Caleb T.

I have a weird thing about certain cuisines containing ingredients that have a crunch to them. While I love the flavor of raw onions on my hamburger and hotdogs, I can't stand them on a pizza. I enjoy the crunch of green and red bell peppers in a sausage sandwich, but when they're in a panang curry, I tend to push them aside for mushrooms and chicken. So, when I go to a Chinese restaurant, I tend to stick to the Hot Burned Porks, the Plum Tree Beefs, or (at the very least) something where the onions and peppers are cooked down to being caramelized. So, when I ordered the Peking Beef off the menu here at A-One Wok, I was a bit trepidatious when my dish arrived with a full onion, nice and crunchy, mixed into the sauce. And yet, it was so good, I couldn't help but eat everything served to me. Wonderful flavors, the meat nice and tender, the vegetables were perfect and delicious. And it wasn't just the beef I enjoyed. The Sweet and Sour Chicken was perfectly fried, clean and light without having that taste of everything else that had been fried before it. The Broccoli Chicken was a great addition to our table and something you don't see on too many Chinese menus. The Orange Chicken, while too spicy for my son and daughter, was still well fried and coated with a great sauce. And the Egg Rolls, while not the best I've had, were still pretty good. There are a ton of restaurants out there where you can grab some good and cheap Fried Rice or Black Pepper Chicken. Here at A-One Wok, it may be a few bucks more, but you can taste the difference in freshness as they whip up your order right after you pay. I can't say it's worth the drive to come out as far as it is in Vista from where I live, but if I'm in the area with some time to spare, the food and service are definitely worth a try.

Great Chinese food, lot of their dishes remind me of my mom's cooking. My favorite is the wonton soup and house fried rice.

Also, the portion sizes were great - especially for the kids meals!!! Service was very patient and friendly with us, even though we had 3 kids & a double stroller. The host, server, and manager made us feel welcomed & important! It was a great environment for our family - I was a bit concerned at first because it's a nicer restaurant BUT we were met with GREAT HOSPITALITY! They had bread, but ordered more for us late comers. It was a while before a server came to the table, long enough that when he came to take our drink orders we had viewed the menu and were ready to order our food too. He was friendly and patient though. We again requested the bread that never came prior. They were somewhat busy as it was happy hour so we waited a bit. We just chatted and caught up. After a while we once again requested bread as it still hadn't been brought to us. Third time was a charm and we were finally brought bread. The bread was the highlight of the meal. Served warm, it is soft inside and crunchy out side with a soft butter accompaniment. Shortly thereafter, our food arrived except for one of our party's orders. Two people ordered firecracker shrimp and they were cold upon arrival. One decided to send it back. Sadly my scallops were so rubbery that the provided fork and spoon could barely cut through it. (You can see my picture from the last time I had this dish and the drastic difference was clear) I hate sending food back so I ate it but it was pretty bad. The missing order arrived and it was supposed to be blackened fish tacos. The ratio of cabbage and salsa on top to the small amount of fish in the taco was disappointing, as was the lack of seasoning. Also, we would have liked more water but it was never offered and we didn't see the server until we waved him down for the check. I've tried a lot of items on their menu over the years but the lack of quality and consistency I experienced on this night may have me rethinking that choice, unfortunately.

Occupying the former…read moreSouplantation building, the restaurant offers a consistent weekend price for both lunch and dinner. On weekends, they feature a premium all day menu that includes all you can eat crab legs. Between the cold and warm crab leg options, I found the warm ones to be superior as they're less salty and much more flavorful. The buffet offers a solid variety of Asian fusion staples, such as fried rice, orange chicken, and honey shrimp, alongside a surprising selection of sushi and decent sashimi. My personal favorites were obviously the crab legs, stir fried whole mushrooms, clams, string beans, and the scallops with vermicelli served in the shell. The service is quite attentive; the staff is quick with drink refills and clears finished plates promptly. They also provide practical extras like crab crackers and disposable gloves. While the dining area is spacious and relaxed, I would suggest skipping the dessert section, as those offerings were not appetizing. Overall, it is a reasonably priced spot for a wide variety of food in a comfortable environment. A solid 3.5 stars.

FOOD POISONING WARNING‼I was going to write a longer review on our experience here but I'm…read morerewriting to cut to the point. This was not a good experience for us. Upon arriving there were a few questionable items being served as far as sanitary and temperature. With that being said my family has and is currently experiencing the symptoms of food poisoning, since we were here earlier for dinner. If you are visiting double check the temperature of the sushi, the texture of the chicken, and mold in the fruits. There was also cream cheese ragoons, I was wanting eat but as soon as I took it apart there were black spots in it , so I set it aside. Something we ate here was just not right as our entire family is experiencing sickness. We are in Carlsbad for a vacation and this was not in the plans for to dine in and later experience diarrhea and vomiting! It was definitely the food, so please be warned.
