First time visiting Lur Ros; I had high expectations for the place based on the glowing reviews and I'm happy to say they were met! Was greeted kindly at the door, and they kept me supplied with ice water when it was VERY hot out. Ambiance is nice, with a family atmosphere. As for the food, check out that photo of the chicken pad see ew. Beautifully cut veggies, a little char on the rice noodles...perfection on a plate! Definite recommend, I shall be back the next time I'm in the San Diego area. This place scores a 5 out of 5 on the 'CTJ Scale', as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. Would be OK passing away after finishing a plate here. 4 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Mary good. Would be OK having a nosh here with Mother Mary. 3 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Joseph good. AMAZING! You're missing out if you haven't eaten here. Look, I dont give out many 5star reviews but Lur Ros Thai Kitchen is the best Thai food Ive had in a very long time. I've driven past this place countless times and finally made it inside. Kicking myself for not eating here until now. Beautiful ambiance, fresh food, and plated perfectly. Every dish looked better than the menu pictures. The taste had each of us diving back in for more from the Panang Salmon to Crab fried rice to Orange Chicken. Incredibly friendly staff and helpful like I haven't seen in a while..and Ive worked in Food Service for years. Even my picky teen kids loved their meals and especially the delicious homemade Coconut ice cream and fresh Mango sticky rice deserts. Our first time here and we ordered the combo Pad Thai and combo protein Tom Kha soup. The Tom Kha came packed with protein -- enough to fill 6-7 small bowls! The Pad Thai leaned more toward the sweeter, wetter style, similar to how it's served in Thailand. Everything was delicious and we'll definitely be coming back! We also got the mango sticky rice! The food was good. We ordered the gyoza (not traditional but my mom wanted it), the pad see ew and the beef noodle soup (for my dad). The decor was pleasant with plenty of eye catching pieces of thai art and warm lighting that make it feel very welcoming. The service was probably the best part of the experience as they were friendly and attentive. Lur Ros Thai Kitchen is our favorite Thai spot in the area. The food is consistently delicious, full of flavor, and always hits the spot. The yellow curry is my personal favorite, and the Pad See-Ewe is a must-order. Everything we've tried has been fresh and well-prepared. I've never dined in, so I can't speak to the ambiance or table service, but for takeout and DoorDash/UberEats, they've been reliable every time. Definitely our go-to for Thai food. read more

The food was perfect. We ordered egg rolls, which were crispy & tasty. The tom kha soup was amazing. I'm not a vegetarian per se, but my wife & I like to share when we go out for Thai food, so we go with the veggie & tofu options since that's her preference. I've been a fan of their cashew nut entree for a long time, & the mussaman curry is some of the best I've ever had. They recommended the mango & sticky rice dessert since mangoes are in season, & don't judge me, but we indulged. It was delish. The food was so reasonably priced for the portion size, & in the era of inflation, that goes a long way when going out. Found this place while staying at the Welk, Great service, Fast Excellent meals with tons of flavor. We started with Thai Tea 8 of us ordered, Summer roles, and Satay chicken, a Tom Kah soup, Pad Thai, Cashew Chicken, Pad See Yew, Panang chicken and Pinapple fried rice. Inside had ample space for us with a nice clean dinning area inside and optional outdoor seating. We shared all the dishes and there was leftover for a couple of take home items. My first time here. I ordered the Spicy Basil (Pad Kha Pow) with ground pork. I loved it. It came with green beans, bell peppers, and bamboo. Flavor was delicious. My husband also enjoyed my dish. My husband ordered the Red curry and thought it was okay. He felt it was bland and wasn't spicy enough. We got both dishes with spicy level 7 and we were warned it would be very hot. We both enjoy very spicy. My dish had good spice. We shared the Mango Sticky Rice for dessert. It was good however I didn't like that some of the rice was slightly hard. Had lunch here with a friend on a Monday. There were about 3 tables occupied. We were seated quickly and our drink orders were taken shortly after that. The gentleman server was friendly and patient with us. My friend and I had trouble focusing on the menu dishes because we were so consumed catching up with each other. Eventually, we did order and started with the satay chicken and coconut shrimp. I chose the eggplant with chicken (mild spice) for my entree. My friend ordered the tiger steak. Dishes came out family-style for sharing and we each had a plate of rice on the side. Both appetizers were cooked well. I enjoyed the chicken with the peanutbutter dipping sauce more than the coconut shrimp, but my friend had the opposite feeling. Our entrees came out hot and the aroma from the grilled steak was scrumptious. We shared our dishes with each other and the steak was tender and flavorful. Not overly seasoned. I tend to like a meaty taste when I'm eating steak. My eggplants were exactly as I ordered with mild spice. Although it was mild in spice, it was packed with savory flavor. The eggplant was a good sponge for the sauce. FYI: I used to frequent this restaurant when it was Thai Thai. Not much has really changed other than the seating layout. And sadly, my favorite fish dish is no longer on the menu. I was hoping that it would be, but I guess I shouldn't be surprised that it's gone. Only had one weird experience when the male waiter was working he was not as nice or accommodating and the food was not as good but could have been a fluke. Very very good Thai good Flavors were bold and on point and reminded us of our trips to Thailand. The pad thai was a stand out for us as well as the papaya salad. The flavor of the green curry and Tom Yum Goong soup was also very good, although we would have liked the sauces to be a bit thicker (both the curry and the soup). But flavors were great. Also, on a spicy level they do 1-10. For us, we did 3 and 4 and it was pretty good. I would compare a 4 to a proper jalapeño popper. For the soup we did 6 and it was nice and had some seat to it. For us, anything over 6 would probably be too hot to enjoy -- but obviously to each their own spicy. Service was friendly and quick and the restaurant is very casual, but clean and had a nice mix of customers as well. This is now our "go-to" Thai spot in North County for sure! read more

Meh. Having spent time and eaten much food in Thailand I was less than impressed with Lur Ros. They have a dining room decorated with the usual posters and Thai themed stuff, but it didn't really ring of authenticity. We were seated by a very cheerful server, and ordered a Thai tea and Thai coffee, they were quite good, but the rest of our experience wasn't not up to par. I love spicy food, like, VERY spicy food. So I wanted my Laarb at a level 8 spicy and the waitress kept trying to talk me down to a level 3-4 spicy after I stated a level 8 spicy. Seriously, I can eat fire. I FINALLY convinced her of a level 8, but it took more time than it was worth. I also ordered the kee mao (level 8 spicy). The hubby ordered egg rolls and Thai mixed vegetables. He is the not-spicy guy so our server had no issues with his level 3. Our laarb and egg rolls came out pretty quickly, and we dug in. The Laarb was so salty it burned the back of my throat when I swallowed, I had three bites and gave up. It was like the cook added salt AND fish sauce. If I'd actually tried to eat it, I would have died from high blood pressure right there. The hubby's egg rolls weren't very hot and had an oddly doughy texture. But he ate them. I sent the Laarb back. Our mains came out and they were good, but mine was not spicy enough at all. (Apparently my waitress doesn't think a middle-aged white lady understands what she's ordering). But apparently the cook LOVES onions. (Both my dish and the Hubby's were loaded with more onions than I've ever seen in an any dish of food anywhere.) So I asked for some red Thai chili flakes, and the server brought over some Sambal Olek sauce (which is Chinese: definitely not authentic). Not chili flakes, not even fresh Thai chilis in vinegar. Sigh... Apparently the good people of Vista are just way too impressed with minimal mediocrity to realize how awful this place actually is. So sad! I'm just not impressed enough with this place to ever return. read more

Just got a to go order - I eat here all the time, their food is exceptional. Some of the best flavors I've had at any Thai restaurant in California. But I am reviewing my to go order which was packed so incredibly well. I had the bag it was in tip over in my car but the way that they took the time to make sure to keep everything sealed up, bag the soup, etc. really made for a wonderful evening that could've gone sour with a mess. The value, speed of readiness, and quality from start to finish in all aspects shines through for this restaurant. Love it. read more
