Not terrible, not great, merely passable greek-type cuisine. Friendly staff, but somewhat tired decor.

I hate posting reviews like this but businesses should be punished if they do not follow business hours. I came in at 8:20PM on a Tuesday evening and was turned away by an employee because the kitchen had already closed. Mind you, the hours posted on Yelp are not wrong as the hours posted in their door mentioned they should be open til 9. But they were already closed a full 40 minutes before their mentioned hours. Who cares is the food is any good? Bad business practices should not be encouraged. Dine at your own risk. They might be closed already when you arrive seeing as their hours are random. read more

Amazing lamb chops. We all enjoyed them Very much. We started with roasted artichoke stuffed with crabmeat. It was delicious. Then we all went head first into the complimentary hot pita bread and freshly made tzatziki sauce. Then our freshly made greek salads came out and everyone loves it. Then the lamb chops. Even our daughter loved it! She ate right along with us. Everything was so fresh. The menu is pricey and strict. They say absolutely no substitutions and no sharing. My favorite go-to place for great & consistent food. I've eaten lunch here maybe 30 times (probably more) the last couple of years & we always have a great meal. Gyro is great (could use more lamb flavor) & the beans & rice with their housemade hot-sauce rules! Service is wonderful! They have stuffed zucchini flowers done a bunch of different ways on special... so good! Love this place! Haven't eaten dinner here yet, don't know why, always think of it for lunch... maybe because they don't have a bar to knuckle up to. Pelagos is great in my book! read more

Pelagos is always a must when we're visiting my parents in Naples. My husband dreams (and talks) about this place all year long. Nothing has come closer to bringing us back to the food we ate in Greece for our honeymoon than Pelagos. Plus, if you're hungry, you won't be when you leave. First, instead of chips and salsa, your table is greeted by the waitress with a basket of warm pita and tzaziki. The pita is freshly made and is absolutely wonderful. Next, with most meals (maybe even all?) you get a Greek salad. The salad is HUGE! Topped with cucumbers, onions, tomatoes and beautiful olives and feta, the salad is delicious. On a side note, we ordered Saganaki, Greek cheese fried served with a slice of lemon. This was our favorite dish in Greece. Although Pelagos' is slightly oily, it still is delicious and the closest thing to what we had in Greece. Every visit I get the same meal. Grilled Mahi Mahi covered with a salad made of roasted artichokes, asparagus, olives and overall goodness. Need I say more? I was also impressed with the Moussaka this time which was a first time order by my mother. The flavor was delicious and each layer complimented the next beautifully. I also can't say enough for the waitstaff. They are so quick to fill your glass, get you more pita and provide you whatever you need. I have never left disappointed! read more

I'm sorry to have to write this review because the owners were truly very friendly. Unfortunately that was the only highlight of the night! Let me note that I am Greek American raised in greece and I know my Greek food so I think my opinion counts. First of all, for those who say that the restaurant is owned by Greeks, I MUST correct you and say that the owners are Albanian. They are using a Greek name and menu However the spices and flavors are far from Greek or even middle eastern. We ordered several appetizers to get a taste of everything. Let's start with the grilled octopus. It was way too hard and rubbery. Basically inedible. We left it all in the plate. Second, was the saganaki(fried cheese). To make good saganaki you have to use a salty yet sweet cheese. Then you flambé it in ouzo or brandy. This saganaki was extremely hard and salty. Was simply fried and served with lemon in a hot plate. The Greek salad was bland and boring. Consisted of lettuce, two slices of tomatoes, a couple of olives and crumbled feta on top. The dressing was flavorless... Real Greek salad is not made with lettuce and has all the above plus green peppers,kalamata olives, oregano, extra virgin olive oil with wine vinegar and sea salt. The calamari which the waitress recommended was crunchy but again so bland. It's like the food had no punch to it. No flavor... Served with a marinara sauce from a jar.. The falafel! Ok this is not a Greek dish but was I disappointed! Again so bland and flavorless. Made in the shape of Cuban croquettes. Not that the shape counts but when I tried to pick it up with my fork it fell apart. Served with tzatziki and not with tahini which is the right way to serve falafel. Of course we did not opt for desert after all this. We took the food with us because we did not want to insult the owners by leaving so much food untouched on the table. We pretended we were so full and took it for "later" the food went straight into the garbage. Sorry Pelagos cafe... I would recommend you revisit your recipes and rethink your menu. Cheers read more

Don't let the "in a strip mall" concern you. Lots of great restaurants in strip malls in the area. Very friendly environment, service staff is very quick and efficient and they were very engaging with my family. About 25 tables. Upscale with linen table cloths and they pour your beer into a glass but paper folded napkins, I wouldn't arrive too casually dressed. Complimentary warm pitas with scratch made tzaziki was divine. The Aris Lager (Greek) and house Merlot were nice. Food was a little slow between salad and entree, not complaining (everyone working hard even the owner) and beer refills a little slow they were busy on a Saturday night and probably could have used more help but they held it together. I waited 45 minutes to get a seat because I didn't make a reservation. We waited because we wanted to try this place out. It was on us that we didn't make a reservation and has no baring on my review score. Onto the food. We ordered the calamari as an appetizer, it was over breaded and had the taste that it wasn't very fresh. The table ordered two gryo platters, pork chops, tilapia, and spanokopita. They were out of pisticcio even though it was a special. The pork chops were seasoned well and cooked perfectly. The tilapia was also seasoned well and cooked perfectly. The gyro platters left a lot to be desired. I buy my gyro meat from GFS for gyros at home. I would put money on that is where they get their gyro meat from as well. It's tasty, but leaves a lot to be desired as far as being authentic. The spanokopita was greasy and not very good. The wait staff was slow and only revisited the table when we waved her down to tell her we needed something. The bus boy was awesome and the only thing that kept the dining experience somewhat decent. He cleaned our plates immediately and refilled our water often. All in all, there are a lot better and more authentic Greek places to eat here in Naples. We will not be dining here again. read more

First time at pelagos and couldn't be more satisfied. Atmosphere, service and food were excellent. Homemade tzaziki and warm pita were brought out and we ordered the grilled octopus special for an appetizer as well as this grilled cheese that I can't remember the name of, both excellent in flavor. Caution!!!! The warm pita is addictive!!! I ordered the gyro platter which came served over rice as well as with my choice of a salad or soup. I order the salad which was a delicious Greek salad. The gyro platter was plenty big and so good! Another person at my table ordered the lamb chops, which came with a side of eggplant. The lamb was cooked perfectly and seasoned just right. We also ordered a side of spanakopita which was a huge side order fyi. I look forward to coming back to this place and trying something new. The menu had everything from fish to meats to falafel and Greek salads with additions such as shrimp, gyro meat and more. Great place! read more

This place could potentially be a hidden gem with a lot of little surprises. The idea is good but the implementation has a couple of flaws. Cons: Dark, decoration intended to suggest an authentic greek/mediterranean feel but falls short. Even though the names in the menu are very culture-specific, the people interacting with the customers are not knowledgeable of the dishes beyond the simple composition or ingredients, leaving a unfilled gap about the background of the dish. The tablecloths needed to be changed and silverware was pre-set on the tables without being wrapped. Aside from the a la carte menu and salads the only thing left on the menu are sandwiches. Main courses, which are also limited, are only served later in the day as dinner. Pros: The food is served really fast. Is not crowded or loud, and is a great place to have a quiet, low key, light lunch. The dollmades with both the lamb and herb were delicious. The Mediterranean salad, even as a small, was a large meal. The souvlaki pork was tender and well seasoned but skip the beans and rice as a side unless you like cinnamon/cloves. The waitress was attentive hand and written down our order quickly. I was finally introduced to the "Soul food". I ordered the meat platter appetizer. It was a carnivore's dream. Excuse me for my Greek ignorance, there was a roll of beef that looked like sausage. It was grilled and spiced perfectly. The place, located in a dilapidated shopping plaza called "liberty plaza" across from Outback Steakhouse, is like a diamond in the rough. very quaint restaurant which is usually slow for lunch. As such, the service is exceptional, and the food comes out fast but not way too hot. The food is good- I really enjoyed the dolmades, and the spinach pie was very good. The gyro tasted a little generic, but generic gyros are still pretty good. Their lunch prices are very reasonable, and their portions are good. We went today for lunch. We ordered several vegetarian selections and ask to split them among the table. We all got extra plates, the portions were very nice and the food was wonderful. The service was very attentive refilled our water without asking, checked to see if we needed more pita bread and really followed through. I would definately go back. One caution, they close for part if the summer, I think just July but check before going. read more
