I can't believe that I haven't reviewed Vourla Mediterranean restaurant before. My husband and I have been visiting Vourla for years, and we have always loved every single dish that we have ordered. Their food is consistently delicious, plentiful, very fresh and always well prepared. We always start with their appetizer trio, I love their hummus and their eggplant in tomato sauce as well as one that has walnuts in a creamy sauce. My husband usually orders the lamb shish kebab which comes with a delicious rice and a side salad. I really enjoy the grilled vegetables and the lentil soup. The service here is always on point, the servers are kind and attentive. They have a very nice vibe inside the restaurant and they also have an outdoor terrace for when the weather is cooler. I haven't had Turkish food before, so I came into Vourla with a completely open mind. We dined there mid-afternoon on a Sunday (January) and were the only occupied table. To my surprise and delight, all of the food was phenomenal. We began with an appetizer trio of pink sultana (beet dip), babaganoush, and stuffed grape leaves. My entree was lamb shish kebab, which came with rice pilaf and a small salad. The lamb was tender and wonderfully marinated in fragrant spices. I also tasted the lamb chops which were excellent. Everything served was fresh and flavorful. It felt pretty healthy too, with lots of olive oil and colorful veggies. Left without feeling heavy. We finished with Turkish coffee and unpictured milk custard (custard was just okay - like rice pudding but without the rice and a little artificial coconutty tasting). Service was admittedly lukewarm. Staff was not overly friendly, but our table's needs were taken care of just fine. I would definitely dine here again. read more

Vourla is located in the Coastland Center Mall, so I was a bit worried that the food would resemble something you'd find in a food court. But actually, it was a very solid place with some outstanding dishes. First I have to mention the staff, who were excellent. Our waiter in particular was extremely pleasant and very knowledgeable about the menu. He provided top notch service throughout our visit. The menu has a very nice selection of Turkish and Mediterranean cuisine. For appetizers we got the zucchini fritters, oregano and feta topped fries, muhammara and the falafel with hummus. For our entrees we got the Adana kebab, lamb kebab, chicken doner and a fattoush salad. The food was very good overall with a few exceptions. I especially like the lamb kebab which was one of the best I've had in recent memory. The Adana kebab was also quite good. However what boggles my mind is that the same kitchen that made the delectable lamb kebab and beautiful Adana kebab also prepared an absolutely terrible chicken doner kebab. It was seriously the worst doner I've ever had flavor-wise. And on top of it, the texture was too soft and the temperature wasnt nearly hot enough. I seriously think it was microwaved, but that's just my suspicion. The other items were all pretty good. The fritters were nice, a bit oily, but tasty. The falafel had good flavor but it was slightly overdone. I also want to mention that while the fries were good, they forgot to put feta on it. Not a huge deal, but definitely a mistake on their part. Most of us left satisfied with the meal, but my kid who got the doner kebab was bummed out about hers and having taste it, I totally sympathize. I'd definitely avoid this dish if you're thinking about visiting. All in all, I'd give Vourla 4 stars. It's almost a 5 but that doner kebab was utterly horrendous, no two ways about it. read more

We also had the Shepards salad (which was awesome) and their pita bread to start with. I ordered the grilled octopus, and it was the best octopus outside of Spain! For this reason and that reason above all, they get the rating. We then ordered the mixed platter, and the kebabs, grilled meat, chicken, shish kebabs with grilled vegetables and fresh vegetables were so great. A lot of the hookah lounges are 80-100 miles outside of Naples but this restaurant has patio hookah and they smoke really well. The staff is super friendly and accommodating! I am not as familiar with Turkish food as Israeli or Greek, so Vourla was a nice change. We started with a trio, where we picked three cold appetizers . The hummus was one of the best I have ever had. It was smooth and creamy, without being too tangy. The Tzatziki tasted super fresh and was great but was probably my least favorite of the three. The Muammara ((walnut, red pepper) was new to me and I loved its distinct, rich flavor. Honestly, there are so many other cold appetizers I would love to try including the spicy mashed vegetables, pink sultans (beets), carrot taratot, and more! We shared two entrees. The Chicken Doner was shredded chicken gyro meat over rice pilaf with a few garbanzo beans scattered around. Very tasty! The Manti, (Turkish Dumplings) was a dish we had to try. These little pillowy pasta pockets had tiny meatballs inside and sat atop a white cheesy type of sauce. The dumplings seemed homemade but I thought the sauce was a tad bland. For dinner, the 4 of us shared appetizers of Babaganoush and a Cheese Pastry called Sigara Boregi. They were both delicious, but especially the Babaganoush which had a lovely strong smokey flavor. For an entrée, I had the Lamb Shish Kebab and my wife had the Hand Chopped Adana Kebab. Both were excellent. Although my Lamb Kebab came well done, which I had not requested, the lamb was tender and quite outstanding. After the great reviews and rating, I decided to sit outside and try the Vourla Mediterranean Cafe and Grill. It wasn't too far from where I was staying. I almost turned around when I learned it was a mall restaurant but I like Mediterranean food and the reviews were good. I ate early and was the only one in the restaurant. When I departed there were about four people but it was still fairly early on a Tuesday night. I ordered hummus (comes with pita), grape leaves and the salad with feta. The best of those three options was the salad. There was a nice lemon and olive oil dressing, a variety of greens which were fresh. The hummus was average, pita below average (tasted like grocery store pita) and the grape leaves were average/bland. Service was good but then again, I was the only patron. The style of the restaurant was mall restaurant like. The restaurant is at the food court entrance at the mall. That is a bit of an odd adjacency. I found it a bit hard to find from the GPS map. I parked over near Cheesecake Factory which was a bit of a hike. If I was shopping at that mall (it was truly dead), I might eat there again. I certainly wouldn't go to that location to eat at this restaurant. The 4.5 star rating is unclear to me. read more

We were visiting from west Palm beach looking for a halal Mediterranean Food and found this Turkish restaurant. The food is delicious and just amazing. The quality is great and it's fresh. Very tasty and worth the visit. However keep in mind that food is pricy so if you looking for a cheaper dine in this may not be a place for you.
