Update: I'm dropping Pelato to three stars now. The Crispy Garlic Potatoes on my first visit were easily the best dish on the menu.! On my second visit yesterday, the Crispy Garlic Potatoes were burnt to a blackened crisp and inedible. I don't ever want my readers to ever have unreasonable expectations based on my honest reviews. In the spirit of full disclosure, order the Crispy Garlic Potatoes at your own risk. They might be a 10 out of 10 or they could be completely inedible.

The food was so good I forgot to take a photo before we ate it!! Needless to stay, it was delicious. This was our first and certainly not our last time visiting Pelato. Our server Zapa was absolutely fabulous and I'd highly recommend requesting her! The frozen espresso martini was soooooo good. Pretty simple open concept restaurant.

If you like Italian food and love to share dishes with friends and family, this is a great place to eat! I would suggest getting a reservation because this is definitely a trending spot! I started off with a Limoncello Margarita, great flavor, Mexico meets Italy! This is a tapas-style restaurant, meaning the dishes are smaller plates designed for sharing. We had a group of five and ordered a variety of items. We started with two orders of the Garlic Bread, very good! The fresh-made House Mozzarella was amazing and an absolute must-have. We also had the Pelato Salad, Burnt Broccolini (soo good, another must-have), and the Stuffed Mushrooms, which were very good as well. For the entrées, we shared the Chicken Parmigiana, Meatballs Al Forno, Bucatini Cacio e Pepe, and Shrimp Ravioli. Everything was excellent! Here's where we messed up... we didn't save room for dessert! The service was amazing, and the timing of the food coming out was perfect. You can sit at the bar, indoors, or outside. Sitting inside was VERY loud and made it hard to have a conversation with the table, so outside seating would probably be the better option. If you live in Franklin, what are you waiting for? Cheers!

Finally got around to trying the second greater Nashville location of Pelato. Originally a Brooklyn import, Pelato promises Italian small plates but in practice feels more like an elevated Olive Garden: addictive and tasty for a few key signature dishes, but not blowing you away with culinary prowess (and featuring a lot of dishes a decent home cook could pull off). That said, sometimes going out is just fun, and Pelato is wildly popular right now, so the Franklin location couldn't have come at a better time to meet the demand. The Franklin location is attached to Cool Springs Mall, across from the Ulta. The parking lot fills up fast, and despite the space being two to three times the size of the Germantown location, on a Saturday night the restaurant was almost completely packed. I snagged a solo seat at the bar. It was incredibly hot inside; the couple next to me was sweating profusely and told me they skipped dessert because it was so uncomfortable. Pelato really needs to make smarter calls about opening the outdoor windows on warm days, because it genuinely affected the experience. Bar service was pleasant and fast. I got their signature radiatore vodka, which is a little small if you're treating it as dinner but I wasn't overly hungry and knew what I was getting into. The pasta was slightly overdone for my taste and the vodka sauce just a touch too rich for me, but overall a solid dish. For dessert I tried the cannoli chips and dip; the dip is great but the chips were a little oily and slightly over-fried. Overall, Pelato is just okay, to me. It's loud, uncomfortable, and just not really my vibe at either location, but sometimes it hits a specific craving and the radiatore vodka does (generally) live up to the hype.

I don't mean to sound dramatic, but the Chicken Parm and the ravioli were the BEST I've ever had. Perfect for a date night or with your girlfriends. Thank you Darren & Milla for 5 star service! Here's what I've had here: Cheesy sausage stuffed bread 5 stars potato Croquettes 3.5 stars ‍ Stuffed mushrooms 5 stars Pelato Salad 3.5 stars Chicken parm - 100 stars Pelato ravioli - 100 stars Radiatori Vodka pasta - 100 stars little Italian gelato balls 3.5 stars Dark chocolate budino mousse 4.7 stars I review 3 restaurants per week on my IG Lillypulitzerstylist. Pelato is one of my TOP TEN FAVORITES.

Went on a Thursday night at 5:30- there were 2 of us. We walked right in and were seated right away. Our server came and greeted us right away and brought us water. We ordered the pelato salad, potato croquettes, vodka pasta. We loved the salad and pasta but wouldn't get the potato croquettes again, not bad just not our favorite. We felt like they needed a sauce or something maybe. Our waiter was very attentive & helpful when we asked her questions about the menu. The food came out fairly quickly. The only thing we didn't love was it seemed very loud inside the restaurant. There were only 2 of us but we even felt like it was hard to hear each other.

Average as the day is long and a complete rip-off. How do you serve Chicken Parmesan with no pasta? Also, no option to add/purchase a side of pasta unless you buy another entrée. That's a first. The Parm was a 7 out of 10. My wife ordered the Short Rib Rigatoni. The short rib was bland and lacked seasoning, and the pasta was undercooked, as if it hadn't been boiled long enough. My college-aged daughter ordered a pasta with Parmesan cheese. I assumed she would receive a reasonable portion. Instead, it looked more like a kid's meal than an entrée. And don't fall for the garlic bread appetizer. They basically took a sesame seed hoagie roll, toasted it, and added a little butter and garlic seasoning. Calling it an appetizer is a stretch. For anyone considering this place do your homework. Now, there's an establishment called North Italia nearby that absolutely blows it out of the water. Better ambiance, vibe, and most importantly, far better food. It's not even close. This restaurant is aided by mall traffic, if it were located anywhere else, it would struggle to survive. Positive: i liked our server. To the Business Manager who responded I'm just one person. Like you said your 5 generations in so my little comment should no hurt ''PELATO.'' In terms of your back hand Father's Day comment okay, clearly your sensitive. I don't celebrate Father's Day because everyday it's a honor to be a Father you clown. Also, let me be clear, I don't hide behind a keyboard trying to be tough. I gave my review which I have a right to do. As a business owner not ''MANAGER'' you take the good with the bad and keep pressing forward. You must have missed that part in your training!!

All the amazing Brooklyn Italian favorites that you love from Pelato Germantown are now in Franklin! The Scotto family has done it again with the flair and flavor only they can do. The menu is filled with amore. The broccolini is my favorite side dish in the city. Followed closely by the crispy cauliflower. Follow that with the Polenta and Bolognese and a serving of Chicken Parm. Make sure to order the deconstructed cannoli for dessert. It might be the perfect meal. And the best news is you don't have to drive to Nashville anymore to get it!

Finally stopped into Pelato for Mother's Day brunch and loved it! We had great service on a really busy day which can be difficult. As far as the brunch items, I only tried the French toast but it was DIVINE! Everything else is egg heavy and sounds really good. I'll try more next time! We also had the bread with parm sauce (to die for), meatballs, and artichoke arancini. Everything was very good. Can't wait to go back!

If I can give this place 100 stars I would! New to the area and this is a staple when we are eating out! Definitely recommend for anyone looking for delicious Italian food!!

Freshnmkzarella, delicious sauce for dipping. Garlic bread wonderful.

Way better than most Italian places here in the Nashville area. Service was great. The tea tasted fantastic and was next level. We had the burned garlic broccolini, fresh mozzarella, garlic bread and chicken parm. We are beyond picky on these favorites we take pride in at home. The flavors and textures were thrilling. The pricing was good and affordable. Easily they could have charged more. Run to this place.

Culamar is drenched in natural light and decorated simply - nothing too loud or busy about the place, thus perfect for a working lunch. The menu was odd and we all struggled to understand the categories it was broken up into. Each item read as a series of arbitrarily listed ingredients. Our (half asleep, disinterested) waitress informed us the dishes were, in majority, "tapas style", a term I find exhaustingly passé. I began to dream of restaurants down the road we could have selected, but we were here and we must stay the course! I had to keep it together for Dennis. We ordered 6 dishes for the three of us to share, and you know what? They were all excellent. Really such outstanding bites. I was stunned by how much I enjoyed the beef carpaccio, the calamari was the best I've ever had (amazing tempura fry!), the Gnuddi (basically a massive gnocchi) in browned butter and crisp sage was a pillowy delight. In spite of my initial concerns -- the hiccups of a confusing menu and our less-than-energetic waitress -- we all left with pleased palates.

The food itself was absolutely delicious. The bread was AMAZING and honestly one of the highlights. We also ordered the oysters, beef carpaccio, and duck, and everything tasted incredible. My biggest complaint is the price for the portion sizes. I really don't mind spending money on a nice dinner, but every dish we ordered was gone in what felt like less than a minute. Everything tasted amazing, but for the amount of food you actually get, I just couldn't justify the prices. We actually left and ended up going to another restaurant afterward because we were still hungry, which was pretty disappointing considering how much we had just spent. Overall, the food was delicious, but between the extremely small portions, high prices, tight space, and slower service, it just wasn't worth it for us. I'm glad we tried it, but I wouldn't go back.

When we agreed upon this place, we looked online to see that they opened at 4:30. We drove straight there and arrived at 4:45. There was free street parking available nearby. When looking online, we noticed they accepted reservations, but we thought since we were eating early that we would be fine-- we were mistaken. The exterior is bold and cutely decorated with some painted art, bright red bricks, and festoon lighting under the awning. Upon entry, the hostess stared our party of two down and did not say a word. Excited to try a new place, I happily greeted her "Hello! Just a table for two, please." She paused, looked me up and down, and replied "no reservation?" with a smug attitude. I shyly replied with "No." My friend added that we didn't know we needed one but came here just thinking we'd be okay since we were before the dinner rush and they just opened. She stared at us blankly and replied "Well, I am pretty booked tonight. We don't have extra tables." At first I thought she was maybe joking. When we looked around there were people sat at two tables, a musician was sitting in the corner on his phone, and the servers were up near the kitchen-- all while the rest of the dining room was dead empty. I understand having tables already booked, but the interaction just seemed odd. After thumping around on her tablet, "I guess I can seat you at my 6:00 table", she mumbled to herself. We were very friendly; however, it just felt the attitude was unnecessary when that would still give us an hour and fifteen minutes to order, eat, and our table to be flipped. Once we were seated, we were greeted friendly by our waiter who gave us waters and menus right off the bat. The atmosphere was nothing special and maybe a little dated, but it was clean and quaint. It reminded me of another local Italian restaurant that was as near my childhood home that we used to eat at a lot. We ordered a cheese bread and marinara sauce for the table and then were ready to place entrees. The cheese bread was very warm, melty, and delicious. The marinara had a great flavor and the size was nice for our party of two. I ordered the Chicken Alfredo and was SHOCKED by how large the portions were as soon as I saw the dish. The noodles were cooked al dente with a nice cheese sauce and large breaded chicken breast. The food all had a good flavor and nice portions. Service and the food were also very quick. We were in and out in 35 minutes, perfect for our evening full of plans. Our entire experience was good with delicious dinner, large portions, and a friendly server. However, the atmosphere was nothing special and the front hostess left an odd impression. I would recommend this place if you're wanting some good Italian food in Franklin-- Just make sure you have a reservation prior.
