We hadn't been back in a while because of a not so great visit previously. We went because someone wanted to go for Mother's Day and this visit was somewhat better. Our server was great but the management really needs to get servers better aprons. I looked around and most servers had holes in their waist aprons and they were really dirty. Also one of the dishes was so hot, the server was covering her hand with her sleeve to place the dish on the table?! It was odd that her sleeve was inside our dish bowl - very odd. The food itself - was okay. We had the Shrimp Scampi and Beef Carpaccio which was good. Arugula and Avocado salad was nice. We had the Ricotta Cavatelli dish with shrimp and crab, it was tasty. Drink wise, had the Neapolitan. Love dirty martinis and thought it would be similar - nope, it was okay. All in all, it was a decent meal but for the price it was just okay. We were really looking forward to visiting this location, as this used to be one of our favorite restaurants when we lived in California. We stopped in while traveling through town and were excited to return. After being seated inside, we noticed a small ant on the table. It didn't seem like a big deal at first, so we removed it and continued with our meal. Our server was friendly, and the food itself was good. However, about halfway through, more ants started appearing--eventually over 10--crawling on the table and around our food. We informed our server, who notified management, but in the meantime we were trying to eat while dealing with ants around our plates. This visit was on March 31st around 6 pm. The manager eventually came over and said they were probably coming from the window, then asked if we would like to move and thanked us for being understanding. She also mentioned they wouldn't be seating anyone else at that table for the rest of the evening. At that point, we had nearly finished eating and didn't want to disrupt our three young children by moving. More importantly, the situation could have been handled differently. Rather than asking if we wanted to move, it would have felt more appropriate for her to take the lead and say something like, "Let me move you to another table," instead of putting it on us in a way that felt dismissive. When you're spending around $140 on a meal, you shouldn't have to deal with bugs on your table. A small gesture--like offering a complimentary dessert or otherwise acknowledging the inconvenience--would have gone a long way in making the experience feel handled with care. read more

From the moment you walk in, North Italia hits you with an upbeat, lively vibe. It's clearly a popular spot--there were several people waiting for tables--so reservations are highly recommended. We went early and snagged seats at the bar to kick things off with cocktails, which turned out to be a great move. The bar staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the experience feel welcoming right away. I started with an Old Fashioned made with Sazerac Rye--excellent. Smooth, well-balanced. In the summer months, the outdoor seating is a great option too. Once seated at our table, we dove into appetizers. There were four of us, so sharing was the name of the game. The White Truffle Garlic Bread was a standout--warm, aromatic, and downright addictive. We also ordered the Italian Meatballs (two per order), so naturally we got two orders. Big flavor, perfectly cooked, and definitely worth it. Add in the Wild Shrimp Scampi and the Calamari--both cooked just right--and we were off to a strong start. For my entrée, I went with the Ricotta Cavatelli. It was rich and comforting with just a subtle hint of lemon. I usually lean toward spicy dishes, so this was a departure for me, but as a crab lover, I really enjoyed it. That said, if you're looking for heat, this isn't the dish for you. We also had the Sunday Night Lasagna...on a Wednesday. Rules are meant to be broken. It was hearty, flavorful, and absolutely delivered. Dessert was a must--and North Italia did not disappoint. The Tiramisu is non-negotiable. The Salted Caramel Budino was so good. The Hazelnut Torta? Fantastic. And the Salted Caramel Gelato--just get it. Trust me. Made a return trip and was not disappointed. Friday night and it was busy the whole time we were there, so reservations still suggested. We started with the Classico Board, it was the perfect size for the 3 of us! Good variety of meats, cheeses and a little bread to go with! I had the Strozzapreti, which is chicken, spinach, mushrooms, pine nuts and a cream sauce over pasta. Very good and given that I enjoyed that previously mentioned board, I took a box to bring a bunch of it home. Lest you think that means I was full.... I somehow managed to find room to split a dessert. We had the Salted Caramel Budino, which was a lovely presentation but also very good! The espresso fudge hidden in with the banana was so well balanced (ie. not too banana-y!). And the pecan toffee gave the perfect crunch. Good end to a great meal. On busy days, the quoted wait time is usually 20-30 minutes, but it's often shorter than expected. A couple of Italian margaritas for my wife and some excellent non-alcoholic beer for me. Well....here we are again and yet another birthday celebration to be had for one of my daughters. This time we made a reservation for North and here is what we discovered on our food adventure... Ambiance: Typical more upscale but with a laid back vibe with clean lines and a causal but appropriate theme for what I would call a semi-Italian fare restaurant. Service: Our waitress was pleasant and seated us promptly upon our arrival. The booth only sat 6 (a little cramped) but they added a chair at the end for our birthday girl so we could all be together since we were a party of 7. Drinks were refilled regularly and she was attentive but not pushy nor absent! Food: All of the dishes were hot and all of the pasta dishes were tasty. Pizzas were also very good especially the ricotta and sausage pizza. Cacio e pepe arancini was less than tasty - it was significantly overfried however I guess you take that chance when you order a fried dish (which was my mistake as I was just wanting traditional Cacio e pepe but they didn't offer that. Price: High for the portions and for the quality however it's on par for most of the quasi italian restaurants around. We did not have drinks this evening but a glance at the menu also put those on par with everywhere else. But my last 2 visits were... meh To start, we asked for bread and olive oil, and were told there was no bread, but we could get a cheesy bread (sounds good, right? ). We got a soggy bread with some whipped buttery ricotta on top, and (American) mozzarella. Yikes :/ The bolognese sauce (still tasty, but watered- down in texture and had very little meat) was disappointing. This is a mixed review based on my first visit to the restaurant which is also my wife and daughters favorite restaurant. Sat down on Sunday around 11am and were greeted quickly by a very nice server, sorry cant remember her name. We ordered drinks and appetizers which came out pretty quick. The appetizers were outstanding. We had the arancini and the Italian donuts which were delicious. There were seven of us and ordered various dishes. Unfortunately it was close to 40 minutes before we were served six of the seven dishes. My son waited for some time and the manager came by and apologized and said she would comp my son's breakfast which was nice. Not a very good visit for my first time, but my wife and daughter have never had a negative experience so thats why my score was three stars. We came for brunch. I've been here several times previously for dinner and just one other time for brunch. For dinner you can't go wrong with the chicken parm and tiramisu. It's delicious. For brunch you have to get the banana coffee cake! It is phenomenal! Everything else was just okay. Just come here for the coffee cake! So good! We ordered an appetizer (Grilled Bread & Good Olive Oil) and it was excellent. Our main course came out shortly afterwards and they were all delicious.
