The cheesy bread wasn't good-just plain bread with mozzarella cheese melted but the marinara sauce that came with it was very good. Pricey but worth it because it was so good! I really don't like giving bad reviews, but sadly this was an expensive Olive Garden. The food lacked flavor and was SMOTHERED in cheese. My chicken was very overcooked and was rubbery. I think the prices are way too high for the quality of the food. We spent over $120 on two pasta dishes, bruschetta and 2 glasses of wine. Again would pay this if it was worth it. When in downtown Franklin, we decided to try this quaint family-owned Italian restaurant on a Friday evening. When we agreed upon this place, we looked online to see that they opened at 4:30. We drove straight there and arrived at 4:45. There was free street parking available nearby. When looking online, we noticed they accepted reservations, but we thought since we were eating early that we would be fine-- we were mistaken. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The exterior is bold and cutely decorated with some painted art, bright red bricks, and festoon lighting under the awning.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Upon entry, the hostess stared our party of two down and did not say a word. Excited to try a new place, I happily greeted her "Hello! Just a table for two, please." She paused, looked me up and down, and replied "no reservation?" with a smug attitude. I shyly replied with "No." My friend added that we didn't know we needed one but came here just thinking we'd be okay since we were before the dinner rush and they just opened. She stared at us blankly and replied "Well, I am pretty booked tonight. We don't have extra tables." At first I thought she was maybe joking. When we looked around there were people sat at two tables, a musician was sitting in the corner on his phone, and the servers were up near the kitchen-- all while the rest of the dining room was dead empty. I understand having tables already booked, but the interaction just seemed odd. After thumping around on her tablet, "I guess I can seat you at my 6:00 table", she mumbled to herself. We were very friendly; however, it just felt the attitude was unnecessary when that would still give us an hour and fifteen minutes to order, eat, and our table to be flipped. Once we were seated, we were greeted friendly by our waiter who gave us waters and menus right off the bat. The noodles were cooked al dente with a nice cheese sauce and large breaded chicken breast. The food all had a good flavor and nice portions. Service and the food were also very quick. We were in and out in 35 minutes, perfect for our evening full of plans. Our entire experience was good with delicious dinner, large portions, and a friendly server. Zolo's in Franklin offers an authentic Italian experience! It's right downtown and parking can be tricky, thankfully on a Sunday night it was easy to find free street parking. Our table was welcomed with bread to start, and we shared a bottle of Sangiovese that was delicious! I had the crab ravioli, and it was a tender, crab-filled pasta topped with buttery, crunchy breadcrumbs and a rich, flavorful white sauce. Portions were generous, so I was able to box up and take home some for lunch tomorrow! We were also celebrating a birthday and shared the lemon cake and tiramisu and both were delightful. (A note: Zolo's doesn't provide special birthday extras like dessert or candles.) Unfortunately Zolo's has gone down in my book. My parents and I had the worst experience lately. Maybe we hit on the wrong night but all of our meals were just terrible. Crab ravioli were good, if you wiped them clean with a napkin. Way too much sauce, made them heavy and bad. If you cleaned the pasta off, which we had to do, good! Caesar salad with salmon. 0/10. The salmon was so overcooked I wouldn't feed to my cat, if I had a cat. Took one bite and just sent back as so awful. Salad, like the ravioli, insanely overdressed. Managed to eat two bites before calling it a night. Tortellini with meatballs - again, overcooked and overdressed with sauce. Bruschetta. God I love bruschetta! Unfortunately after one bite I put mine back. It was like eating a salt bomb, mixed with a spoonful of olive oil. The tomatoes weren't fresh. No herbs to lift the dish. Bread good but overpowered. We decided before we'd left unfortunately we will not be back again. Too many negatives.... I wish I had something to redeem the visit. Server was kind! But food spoilt the night. read more

My husband and I have a pact to visit one new restaurant a month for 2024. Zolo's is our second date. We were immediately greeted with a warm welcome and pulled in to the typical Italian restaurant feel with its red checkered tablecloths and red glass candles. My husband ordered the crab ravioli and I had the spicy tortellini Diablo. He said his was good. Mine was good too. I enjoyed the mix of chicken, Italian sausage, and pancetta with a rock cream sauce. In the end, would we come again? Absolutely. Will we recommend it to others? One hundred percent. read more

We were greeted by a young waiter that was very knowledgeable about the wine and the food. Before I go on, I must share with you earlier this year I was in Italy and Switzerland and had some amazing Italian food. So the bar will be high. I ordered an Origo Tuscans wine, very good. The bread they brought was ok, a place to improve. I started with the Tuscan Salad which was so good I forgot to take a picture. My entire was the Baked Crab Ravioli, it was very rich but very good. My wife had the Chicken Parmigiana which she liked and my friend always gets the Lasagna. He loves it. For dessert I was looking for some Tiramisu, but there were out of it already, it was 6:00. We settled on the Red Velvet cake, it was heavy and the icing was just ok. It needs to be lighter with some good butter cream. Our family has eaten at Zolo's a number of times and every member of the family walks away very happy. Good selection of simple Italian meals and wines, nothing fancy, just proper preparation, quality ingredients and served by professionals who know their stuff and know how to take care of their guests. So why isn't the Yelp rating higher? I took time to look at all the reviews and it seems that the less flattering are pretty old and it appears that the restaurant was sold and under the new ownership the ratings are more reflective of our experiences. Some of the older negative comments are pretty brutal especially from long time customers that saw a change not in a good way. Since we are relatively new we can only say good things because we have only experienced good times. p.s. Regan was our last server and she help make our visit truly memorable. read more

This was my first--and definitely last--visit to this restaurant. The waiter, Jacob H., had a rather dry personality and didn't even bring olive oil for my bread until I specifically asked for it. The Alfredo was good, but the chicken didn't hit the mark the way I was hoping. When it came time to pay, Jacob brought me the check, which I paid, then requested a copy. To my surprise, I realized I had paid for the table next to me--the group of nice girls sitting nearby. Jacob had handed me their bill, which was significantly higher than mine. I brought this to the manager's attention, but Jacob had conveniently disappeared. When they finally found him, he acted surprised, but I honestly believe he knew exactly what he was doing. I asked for a refund, but instead of resolving the issue promptly, they insisted I pay for my actual bill first. I told them I'd do that after the incorrect charge was refunded. When they refused--or were unable--to provide a receipt confirming the refund, I requested a handwritten note instead. They seemed annoyed, as if I was being difficult, but I had every right to confirm I was reimbursed. Jacob claimed he's worked there for years and that this has never happened before. Personally, I think he assumed I wouldn't notice. The bill was clearly too high for the one meal I ordered. He didn't seem to care about the mistake--only that he got caught. read more

Our server was so sweet and attentive, our food was outstanding, and the vino was just as good! It is so cozy in here and makes you feel like you're in a small town restaurant... which you are! Food - OK; Service - Outstanding; Ambiance - Great. Read on for details. Angel Hair del Pescatore was featured under "House Specialties". Looking like the best option, I went for it. Meh. White wine and tomato sauce earned a "Bravo!" for its unique quality and balance. Granted, angel hair pasta is hard to cook al dente, but this was a little to soft for my preference. Most disappointing was the seafood. While I do not know for sure, the shrimp looked like they were precooked, or previously frozen and were a bit rubbery. And the scallops had a texture I had never encountered before. I don't know their previous life, but they were not "fresh, never frozen". A generous serving of three slices of great bread was brought out first. While it was really tasty, I had to ask for the olive oil and herb dipping dish. It should have been offered initially. Service could not have been better. I had come straight from another restaurant where the service was so poor, I walked out after 40 minutes having never seen a server or the food a manager promised. I told staff here that and they fell over backwards to make sure i was happy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Since the weather was so nice, I dined outdoors on the sidewalk. I knew I should have checked the reviews, but had eaten here several times a number of years ago and it was nice. 1. Arrived early hoping there was a bar to grab a glass of wine or a cocktail when we learned that they "were not able to serve alcohol tonight". Uh Oh... someone lost their license. We came here for my husband's birthday. I think we had a 3 star experience, but I felt the food was a bit underwhelming. You will never hear me complain about the plentiful cheese that they put on their dishes, but as far as flavor existing. This is super Americanized Italian food. I am not saying that is a bad thing, I am just recognizing that it is what it is. Our server was good. We did feel he was a bit pushy with us getting orders in and was definitely pushing the drink menu. The menu had Relax Reisling and Cupcake Mascato. I am sorry, but I am not paying $9 for a glass of either when I was buying bottles of this in my early 20s for the same price at a liquor store. Well visiting NASHVILLE we decided to try a variety of restaurants and we wanted Italian so we picked this restaurant we made reservations and we promptly sat at reservation time. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It is a cute little restaurant that would seem to be good for a romantic evening.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was able to order the chicken piccata with no capers or mushrooms. When the pasta came out it had very little flavor chunks of raw garlic, and swimming in a watery sauce, not even a creamy sauce just pretty much watery sauce. The chicken was great. It had flavor in it, but overall, it was not a very good meal in general. My other friend had some reviews on her chicken piccata and said that it wasn't the best she had ever had. I don't know if I would recommend this restaurant to anybody just because the two dishes that we had were not very good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They did have a gentleman singing, which was nice. It's just ok. We were running late for our 4:45 reservation because we had to wait 20 min for our car from the valet. We were about 10 min late...and chastised. Then it felt like we were seated at the "time out" table. Smallest, tightest, cramped table in the joint. Bear in mind, it's about 5:10 and empty inside. Only one other table was seated. It's not huge inside but come on. On to the food. Server was very nice. We ordered sangria which came in a packaged bottle. Our bruschetta was served with naan little dippers (like Costco sells). Spaghetti sauce looked like and tasted like Ragu. Now, if these observations are ok, five stars. For us, not Italian, not a good value. read more

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this place. This was our first time eating here and had wished we had read some reviews before trying this place out. It was a last minute decision to eat here while in downtown Franklin. Waitress was very nice but that was the only positive thing about this place. My husband and I and my daughter ordered three different meals and all were disgusting. My lasagna was so dry inside. It had very little meat sauce inside which made it taste like thick ricotta only then had a heavy layer of very sweet(extremely sweet) sauce on top. My daughter's Vodka sauce and husband's sauce had so much butter added to them it made their mouths oily. They sauces were awful. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is in very bad shape. The floor throughout the restaurant , kitchen area and bathrooms were filthy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Parts of the kitchen hood had blue tape inside and a Red rag was attached to the hood too.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'm surprised that the health department hasn't taken any action or shut them down. This Italian resturaunt has a cute quasi movie-esque romantic vibe. Service was okay, but there was only one or two waitresses covering the restaurant on a Saturday night which was insufficient. The cooks may have been similarly overwhelmed. The calamari was horrible, completely overfried where it became hard that it didn't resemble calamari. The salmon was okay but the portion size of salmon was underwhelming. The chicken Marsala was the best of the group but wasn't superior to the premade stuff from the grocery store. It has been a long time since we came to Zolo's. We weren't fans the first couple of times we went but my husband said that there were new owners, so we thought we would give it another shot. We started with the asiago flatbread...which is amazing!!! I had the pasta diablo (Which is, I assume, the Spanish version of Italian pasta diavolo). It was VERY tasty. My husband had the crab ravioli. He loved it! Our waiter, Caleb, was excellent. We wanted for nothing and he was very "present". We had the lemon cake for dessert and it was delicious. My only semi-complaint was the dark, dirty carpet. There is a reason you don't see carpet in restaurants anymore. It makes the restaurant look dated and you can see every bread crumb that has fallen to the floor. Some nice Italian tile would spruce this place up to perfection. Anyway, we have been searching for a good Italian restaurant since Molinari's closed during Covid and we found it! The plus is that this one is right down the road from us.
