    The brisket plate was delicious!

My husband and i both had the brisket plate, it was delicious and it did not disappoint! We will definitely be back for more!

Ribs with cucumber salad and cucumber salad flavored greens

Not impressed. Could it have been what I ordered? Maybe. When you have the word BBQ in your name though you had better come to slay. The good: The owner was really kind and accommodating. He offers a chicken special on Tuesdays where you get 4 wings and a roll for $5. The chicken was fresh and very lightly seasoned. I DID like that the coating was not overly floured. The bad and ugly: Sheesh...so my BIGGEST complaint is that the food was not fresh. I ordered the two meat plate with ribs and sausage...over a day old. The bbq sauce does not cover the fact that the meat was not cooked that day. Speaking of which, ask for sauce on the side. Everyone does not like any kind of bbq sauce. Additionally, the cucumber salad was not fresh. The greens may have been ok, but I can't say since cucumber salad juice mixed in with them. Ugh! My partner got the smothered chicken with greens, yams , and forgot what other side he had. We were STARVING and neither of us ate even half our food. I REALLY wanted to like this place and brag, but total waste of money for anyone who is accustomed to good, FRESH food.

    Clean ! Huge servings !

This place is fairly new and we set out to look for it as I had heard of it on a Facebook feed. Upon entering, we were greeted by the owner with a warm and friendly hello. We ordered and our food was quickly ready to eat. The place has limited seating and is mainly carry out. The meat, ribs and brisket, were perfectly smoked with a very astute sauce on them and potato salad was different from the usual that you find at other BBQs and very tasty. The beans were great as well and the cornbread was amazing ! The servings were very nice sized. Clean, friendly and fast ! Will definitely be returning. Willie definitely knows BBQ !

Oxtail plate- serve on a bed of rice, cabbage and collard greens, candied yams, and hot water cornbread.

I went via the drive thru and ordered the oxtail plate. Now, before I start, some folks like fatty oxtail and some like a leaner cut. I was raised on a fattier oxtail, so I did enjoy the oxtails over a bed of rice. The cabbage and collard greens were so simple and so good!! And the candied yams were also simple and delicious. Since it wasn't busy, he offered the option of hot water cornbread or jiffy cornbread, so I definitely opted for hot water cornbread. The portions we big, so take that into consideration on the price. For two orders of the oxtail plates, a small koolaid and a small sweet tea, it's was $36. The koolaid wasn't remarkable, but I do like my koolaid on the sweet side. It didn't taste like koolaid to me, maybe an off brand, but I didn't ask.

Ribs, brisket, beans and potatoe salad. Yummy

We ordered ourselves a little sampler this time of sausage, pulled pork, brisket, potato salad, cream corn, pinto beans, and the Marvelous Taco. They really knock it out of the park with the brisket and pulled pork. The sausage had the very satisfying snap and was very tasty. There is a good smoke level on everything and I cannot wait to return. We had a magnificent time standing in line and visiting with everyone, including Santa! I would like to mention also that this place is very clean and has clean restroom. The staff here are super friendly and a lot of fun to visit with.

We visited on a Tuesday right when it opened, and it was already filling up with happy patrons. The ample parking and friendly staff made for a great start to the meal. The Meats The brisket had a delicious salt and pepper bark with a nice crust. While it could have been a bit more moist, the rich, smoky flavor was on point and a great representation of a classic Texas brisket. The ribs were a definite standout. They had a beautiful, deep smoke ring and came clean off the bone with a perfect pull, not just falling apart. The dry rub bark was fantastic, allowing the natural smoky flavor of the meat to shine. Both of the sausages were excellent. The house sausage was juicy with a satisfying snap to the casing and a nice peppery kick. The boudin sausage packed a great spicy flavor without being overly filled, which can often make boudin greasy. The Sides & Appetizers We also tried a couple of the unique sides and appetizers. The jalapeño poppers were a pleasant surprise. I usually prefer a protein filling, but the cream cheese had a wonderfully flavorful and creamy texture that won me over. The jalapeño crème corn was another highlight--incredibly creamy with a tangy, spicy kick from the pickled jalapeños mixed throughout. Overall, this barbecue joint is a must-visit. The quality of the meat and the delicious sides truly set it apart.

The venue itself is great, with a nicely decorated space that offers both inside and outside seating, along with a kids' play area--a huge plus for families. Now, on to the food. The brisket was a definite standout. It had a wonderful, rich flavor, and the salt and pepper (SP) bark was spot-on, providing a perfect crust. A nice, prominent smoke ring and a healthy amount of rendered fat made for a tender and juicy bite. The ribs were also solid. They had a great pull from the bone, but I noticed a slightly overpowering "hammy" flavor that detracted a bit from the classic barbecue taste I was hoping for. The house-made birria sausage was a fantastic surprise. It had a delicious mix of pork and beef, complemented by melted cheese and a good kick of chili. The casing had a satisfying snap, which I appreciate. For sides, the Maple Sprouts were exceptional. They were perfectly charred and crispy, with the maple flavor coming through beautifully without being too sweet. The jambalaya was also a strong contender. It was loaded with flavorful sausage bits, and the rice was cooked just right. After all that, we were happy to see they also offer some nice desserts to round out the meal. Overall, I had a great meal at Mimsy's. The brisket and unique house sausage are must-tries, and the Maple Sprouts are a delicious side that stands on its own. While the ribs were a little off for my personal taste, the rest of the meal and the friendly atmosphere more than made up for it. I'd definitely go back for more.

I really enjoy how Mimsy's thinks outside the box when it comes to their dishes. Thoughtful and creative sandwiches and what I like to call all in one items like loaded mac n cheese, loaded spuds, and the wedge salad that are less expensive than buying the meat and sides but filling none the less. This time I ordered the loaded mac n cheese with the smoked turkey. I swear, they have the creamiest and most delicious mac. I am almost always underwhelmed by mac n cheese. These are exceptional. I also ordered the jerk chicken leg quarter and it was so clean and delicious. I would definitely order that again. Hubby order the Smoked turkey sandwich with avocado, bacon and aioli and it looked magnificent and yes, he did offer me a bite. I had enough of my own food to eat. I will be back, Mimsy's!!!

The okra was fresh cut, fresh battered, fresh fried, unlike every other place I get it where you can tell it's out of a bag. Hot water cornbread was ah-mazing. I only wish I had honey to slather on it along with the butter. White gravy was fantastic, with just a hint of sweetness we couldn't quite put our finger on.
