The pool solar is totally useless, does not produce any heat, when I asked for a review I was told I would need to cut down my (4) Birch trees (very delicate branches) in order for pool solar to work. This was not suggested or shared when installing the solar, perhaps they knew that would be a hard no. I will need to have new pool solar installed and repair my new roof. I am floored that Magic Sun could not manage to provide good pool solar and add enough electric solar to satisfy their profit. 1 star is being generous.

Any home renovation project has bumps, and this one had its fair share: after initial install they monitor the systems production remotely to see if it's doing what it's supposed to/expected to, and my system was initially under-performing. They caught it and sent out a team to problem solve it, which took a couple tries, but they didn't drag their feet, they kept on it and kept at it and got it resolved. It was no fault of theirs, just a technology glitch. Core fear was that they would give up after a couple failures and leave me following up with them to get it done, but I never had to worry about that. I also did not end up liking where they placed the control box- it was something that was going to make future maintenance of my house trim problematic down the line. They willingly moved it up a few inches for me (and my only complaint was the team that did that didn't patch the original hole as efficiently as they should have. If I had understood the box placement better on the first pass that would never have happened, so this is a bit of a complaint of my own making.) Jon Landsman, who sold me the system, stayed with us the whole time tracking the project, checking in, and following through on every detail, every question, every concern. He never made me feel like the demanding diva that I am, was always prompt and gracious! The bottom line is that start to finish, even with a few bumps in the road, I have zero question that this is a company that legitimately cares about doing what is right. So Micah came over and presented several options and discussed which ones were SMUD rebate eligible. I went with the bundled (and SMUD rebate eligible) AC + Heat Pump combo. Micah and his son (already an industry veteran and very capable) arrived bright and early (e.g. right on time) and 10 hours later - old units removed, new units installed. The big surprise was *nothing* - e.g. none of the clunks grinds, whooshes, strained sounds of the old system. Just nice cool air evenly distributed throughout my 3/2 bungalow. I had an original contract. 2. The first contract had to be dropped due to items outside of Cal-Solar's control. (Fair enough). 3. Cal-Solar wanted a change order on a system that had no changes and yet Cal-Solar claims the installed system had unknown items. (Keep in mind they did all the work...ALL of it.) 5. Cal-Solar waited till the last moment to notify of the changes which pushed against a tax-credit deadline. (From my chair seemed to be the goal.) 6. Cal-Solar provide large price increases to perform the work or quit...from 3.5k (to lose half the battery charging ability) or charge another 9k to add another battery. (Tesla charge half for a second battery, btw.) I'm not saying this will happen to you. I'm just saying what happened to me. As to the contract you sign: From my chair the company uses it for your compliance not theirs.
