As you enter the Redwoods area, there are a number of businesses that cater to tourists passing through. The Shoreline Market and Deli is such a place -- a little pricey, not much selection -- makes you wish you'd gotten food and supplies at a real grocery store back in McKinleyville when you were passing through. The Shoreline Market is good for an ice-cream bar or a soda, but not ideal for getting supplies. read more

Yes, the old gas pump DOES work! Super cool piece of history. Clerk was very friendly, I picked up a hat from the gift section that had sun fading on it... it was $12, store clerk offered it to me for $6. Great deal! Plenty of snack and drink options, but no soda fountain. Shoreline made our trip to the redwoods memorable! read more

This is an old school gas station and market. I was running really low on gas in my rental vehicle - and according to Yelp, this was the closest gas station without driving back down to Trinidad, CA. There is one gas pump - and it is an old school, analog style pump. There is no way to "pay at the pump." After eye-balling the pump, I went inside and paid and they activated the pump. O then pumped my gas It's also a convenience store - I bought a couple of bottles of cold water to take on the road as I continued north up U.S. 101 into the Redwoods. I also used the Men's Restroom while here. It's located outside of the convenience store - and you need a key from the person running the register. The Men's Restroom needs to be gutted and rebuilt from scratch. I'm awarding 5 stars based on the fact that I've not seen a gas pump like that in a very long time, it saved me from potentially running out of gas, and I enjoy experiencing old school stuff. #ShorelineDeliandMarket read more

In bad need of gas? Yep they got GAS!! Great stop between Trinidad and Klamath. Please come in and visit. Kind great service.

The gas and the store are fine, but the free liquid to wash your windows with was thick and syrupy. Almost like glue or honey. Not sure what it was. Too risky to smell or taste. Put it all over my front and back windshield and couldn't squeegee it off. Had to scrape it off with a book. Eventually cleaned it off, but book was ruined. read more

We stopped in at the Shoreline Deli and Market in Orick looking for some hearty sandwiches after a long bout of hiking. We weren't sure what to expect, but to our surprise there was quite a variety of sandwich options, and very friendly people to help out. You can choose just about everything for your sandwich: meat, bread, cheese, condiments and veggies. We had the ham, turkey, tuna and salami between the four of us. The sandwiches all were quite generous in portion size and quite delicious as well! All ingredients seemed very fresh - it was wonderful to get deli sandwiches in a town as small as Orick. We had shakes as well: chocolate, mint chip and mocha almond all hit the spot. Probably most people get food to go, but there is a small table inside to eat at, as well as a picnic table outside. The market had most basic items you would need, especially for camping, but we did note a good cheese selection available. A fine choice for quality sandwiches near Redwood National Park, minutes from the Lady Bird Johnson trail. read more

Not much around here so this little store was a lifesaver. You are able to get gas from an ancient pump and do some shopping from the store. They have all the basic things you could want for a price that accounts for the convenience of being in the middle of nowhere. read more

Drove up heading north pulled up to the gas pump and didn't see a sign for the gas prices on my way in so I asked the clerk kindly. Instead of giving a direct answer, she proceeded to patronize and condescending me about how it was posted in multiple places so she couldn't imagine how I could've missed it. And then another customer confirms that no it is actually not in view from one direction. I am a very chummy person with retail folks and it was one of the rudest interactions I've had. read more

Spent two days trying to burn a bundle of wood procured from this merchant. Wettest sappiest wood I've ever bought and it's not split well. If you plan on getting their wood, don't forget a few bottles of lighter fluid to go with it otherwise you ain't roasting no marshmallows. I have a large knife I use to split wood. The wood was so wet it wouldn't even splinter. I could have made some strong rope out of the fibers. I noticed a day later that there's a local seller just north of Shoreline - go to them instead. read more

This place is fantastic! Fresh authentic home made food and THE COFFEE!!! Oh WOW the coffee! They serve farmers brothers and this was the first time I'd tried it ever, I'm real aware of that singed bitter taste that too frequently accompanies coffee and this blend was perfection, medium brew, rich & smooth. Everyday we stayed in Trinidad I returned to this glorious fresh brewed start, coffee at gold bluffs beach, coffee at fern grove... Mmm. Information center suggested this great stop for sandwiches on the road. They were right. This stop was perfect for our picnic dinner on the beach. Most of the staff was great. I felt like it may have been ran by a family. Possibly three generations. Grandma checked us out was so helpful and sweet. Possibly a mother made our sandwiches who was very nice and made great sandwiches. The grand daughter (dark long hair) was rude. We tried to ask her questions a few times and she either snubbed us or walked away. The grandma even had to ask her to move so we could check out. Maybe time for a family meeting. I would still recommend stopping here. read more

We picked up a few sandwiches before striking out to see the Tall Trees Grove. I had a turkey on hazelnut that was really good. Maybe I was just extra hungry after the four mile hike. But it tasted fresh and the bread was really good. The lady running the place was nice. The cats were friendly, too. read more

This place may not look like much from the road but they are making fresh sandwiches inside and have lots of drinks, snacks, and sundries to choose from. We were on our way back to Arcata after a day spent hiking and hungry for lunch...and we were not disappointed. I ordered an egg salad sandwich and she made the egg salad right when I ordered--so fresh! And so tasty. I ate every bite. My husband had a good roast beef and cheddar sandwich and after wards, we washed it down with $1.50 ice cream cones. Pretty great. This is simple food but made well and made to your liking. I will definitely be back the next time we are up this way. read more
