Also has jewelry and other home made items. Fruits and vegetables that are all home grown. Who doesn't love getting local made or grown items at very low prices. This is the perfect time from 8 to 11am every Saturday morning. To make it even better everyone is extremely friendly and loves to talk about the items they have. It is closing up for the season soon, but can't wait to see everyone next year.

This year we stopped and have enjoyed new fingerling potatoes, amazing green beans (2 bushels that were so very nice ... not stringy and they still had their 'snap!' We canned 43 quarts & had several family comfort dinners!). The peaches were just perfect - perfectly ripe & unbruised. Looking forward to seeing the apples come soon! When I think of orchards, I tend to reflect fondly back on school field trips and my childhood in…read moregeneral. That feeling was alive and well at Greenfield, Indiana's Tuttle Orchards. This 200-acre establishment offers around 50 acres of apples, 30 acres of vegetables, 20-25 acres of pumpkins, and a greenhouse among other options. There's a small cafe here. There's U-Pick apples, of course, along with U-Pick pumpkins. There's flowers galore, a variety of food items, exhibits classes, tours, and more. They take credit cards (no WIC or SNAP). There's no general admission to get into Tuttle. There's also no parking fee. There are fees for certain activities, and there are obviously fees for items that are sold. There are over 2,000 items in their farm store. I'm a definite fan of the donuts. Yeah, I know. What kind of weirdo goes to an orchard and gets a donut? Me. I'm that weirdo. More than 90% of their plants sold are grown right at the orchard. Tuttle has been around since the early apple trees were planted in 1928. It's now fourth generation Tuttle, though the owners are actually named Roney at this point (but still in the family). Accessibility? Better than expected and obviously intentional. Perfect? Nope. It's an orchard. No orchard will be perfectly accessible, but it's quite good and employees are helpful as much as able. Parking lot offers parking options. They've worked with disabled students, and the hayride is wheelchair accessible. The pumpkin patch is a dirt path, however, for the most part I found it workable. Some may need assistance. The only accessibility issue in most places would be the crowds, as Tuttle can get quite packed - especially on weekends. Tuttles does ask for advance notice for those with disabilities if possible, especially for groups, so guides can adapt material as needed for age/developmental level. Overall, I really enjoyed this visit. It wasn't my first time to Tuttle, though I'd never remembered it well enough to be comfortable reviewing it. After a recent visit, I remembered why I always enjoyed it so much. It was more accessible than expected, everyone was friendly, and a side benefit is really watching all the kids around you have such a good time. There's a reason so many consider an orchard visit a fall tradition. Tuttle Orchard is a great place to start that tradition with your friends and family.

In good weather it is outside, in rainy weather they go inside to the old school gymnasium. It's perfect! This is a small farmers market but there are several faithful vendors I love including Asparagus Annie's (their own produce, breads, pies and sometimes crafts), a local farm with their own vegetables and meats (try the sausages), local honey from Wildflower Ridge and local artisans with jewelry, art, homemade cards and more. You get the flavor (ha!) so come check it out yourself and support our local growers!

However, there is a BBQ tent with a smoker and freshly made BBQ. Also both MUGS & Jackrabbit Coffee have locations here. So it's definitely worth a coffee stop on Saturdays, plus you get a chance to shop from local independent merchants. MUGS was offering a free coffee or a free breakfast burrito today. I got the burrito. It was cheesy with eggs and sausage and veggies-- a $4 value for free. You can also get a coupon for next Saturday too.

The Saxony Farmers Market was a great destination for our afternoon activity! Located in the…read moreparking lot across from Jack's Donuts, Saxony Market is smaller than the Farmer's Market in downtown Fishers, but it was a lot of unique offerings packed into the small area. That being said, I never felt cramped or claustrophobic, even when surrounded by all the booths and food trucks. There's picnic tables and a field to relax and enjoy a snack, and there's a playground behind the market for the kids to blow off some steam. Every step of your Farmers Market journey is accompanied by live music, performed by a very talented duo. Everyone manning the booths were extremely polite and welcoming, and I made sure to try every free sample I was offered! We got some strawberry bread (an Amish Friendship Bread with strawberry purée and vanilla pudding) from the Amish County Dairy, and I also sampled the blueberry milk. (I know, it sounds weird, but it was delicious!) We were tempted to buy some fresh produce, but unfortunately I went food shopping earlier today and I didn't need to buy any more fruit! The Fishers Parks Department was advertising upcoming events in our area (Monsoon Madness is Saturday, July 22!) and offering free ice cream sandwiches!!! That's right. ICE CREAM SANDWICHES. For FREE!! What could be better than that? I cannot wait to come back to the Saxony Market!

This particular market is tiny and has a very small offering. It'll take you ten mins to walk thru and see all the booths. There were only a couple of farmers with a small sampling of produce. Nothing incredibly inviting, honestly. We enjoyed some cotton candy, a Kona ice, and sampled some MLM products. There's a nice playground where the kiddos seem to be having a ball. I was disappointed in what I found, but will try again before it closes at the end of September.

We were invited to visit the farm and explore the trails. The staff is super friendly and engaging. They sell fresh and colorful produce at the farmers market to help support the outreach program. The veggies looked amazing. We bought some poblano peppers to stuff. The peppers were super fresh. I was disappointed that I missed out on the Brussels sprouts, but they were sold out. Teter's is looking for volunteers to help at the farm!

Thank goodness for this grocery store, is all I'm saying! Whew. These two things were just what I needed and helped me get on with my day. A Fresh Thyme is a Fresh Thyme is a Fresh Thyme. If you've been to one Fresh Thyme, then you've been to this one in Fishers. They're all blissfully the same. You can find bulk nuts and supplements and fancy chips and interesting food items around every corner. I love Fresh Thyme because they have a lot of the things I'm looking for but can't find elsewhere. They are very good at stocking the fancy items and the things that are hard to find. I was able to get in and out of this grocery store very quickly, thanks to the self-check-out lanes that are available. But there are also real, live people at the checkout lanes to help, as well.
