Some aspects of Pendleton Parlor were on point and others left a little to be desired. First, it's located in a really lovely part of Pendleton near a part of Broadway that's permanently closed for pedestrians and outdoor dining, so the ambiance is really nice. The inside of the shop is interesting, with knickknacks and things to look at in every corner- kids would love it for this reason! I immediately noticed that there were no prices on the menu... there were cups displayed on the counter with small/medium/large pricing but it wasn't clear what these cups were for- it looked like shakes. It was very off-putting for me to not know the prices of what I'm ordering, especially with more specialty items like cookie dough or coffee/ice cream creations where I can't predict a standard price. Second, there was only one dairy-free option... a cookies and cream ice cream. While it was tasty, it was my only option and that never feels great to order something because you have to. It also didn't have a description or any info available so I was left wondering what made it nondairy... almond? Coconut? Oil? Of course at a creamy whip type place I'm not going to expect the entire menu to accommodate me, but it's nice when there are at least a couple other options- especially with coffee, it would be easy to have a nondairy milk available or a sorbet/dole whip since they already carry many flavors. I tried a tiny bite of my husband's edible cookie dough and it was delicious! Seemed really sweet though- he could barely finish his side by side because it was so sugary--a good problem to have :)) I think I would go back if I had friends with me or happened to be in the area for Blink or the pool or something, but otherwise I would probably choose somewhere else where I have more options s and I know what I'm going to spend. read more

Went on a Monday afternoon following lunch, so it was not busy at all. I enjoyed a strawberry sundae, while my family the side-by-sides of ice cream and cookie dough. My sundae was delicious - small was the perfect size to not feel overly indulgent. Unfortunately, I then finished my daughters cookie dough. That put me over the top! I came here to let out my inner fat kid, and BOY is that dude happy. I absolutely love raw cookie dough, but I'm less enthusiastic about salmonella. Pendleton is the answer to my prayers. The edible cookie dough is one of those things that I would sit and funnel into my mouth until I got diabetes and/or exploded. My wife said the soft serve ice cream was tasty as well. I'm not from the area and have never been to a place like this but when I asked questions about options and flavors, they weren't really helpful and actually seemed like I was inconveniencing them. In terms of novelty, fun-treat desserts in Cinci, it doesn't get better than Pendleton Parlor! Plan a visit to Pendleton for some delicious dinner and be ready to stop at the Parlor after. They have lots of build-your-own ice cream options. We got an espresso and brownie-mixed vanilla soft serve. BUT, even more uniquely, I tried their EDIBLE COOKIE DOUGH! This is the kind of overpriced, novelty dessert you see in a big city like NYC, but alas, you can get it here in Cincinnati for $4!!! It was such a treat. This is one of those places that offers cookie dough scooped as a dessert, but also ice cream. More importantly, you can order both together. From what the other customers in the shop were told, their cookie dough is actually vegan because they use "margarine and egg substitutes". This is good for some people's dietary restrictions, but I wasn't entirely thrilled simply because most things labeled as margarine are processed and unhealthy. Maybe they use some higher quality products than I surmise, but either way, it's dessert, and I'm guessing most people aren't particular about these things. And I certainly ate it. Ordering a scoop of solid cookie dough over a cup of soft serve was a good way to go. As I've found from trying cookie dough before, it'll dry your mouth out. The rapidly melting soft serve provided a nice contrast in textures and help the whole mixture go down. On top of that, my Nutella swirl cream and the chocolate chip cookie dough were pretty delicious. They had more solid ice cream as well, and sorbet. It was a good variety and the place certainly had an interesting vibe inside. Even if it didn't make my upper echelon of desserts, it was good. read more

I was in town for a few days and craving something sweet before retreating to my hotel room for the night. I did a quick Yelp search and found Pendleton Parlor was open and decided to give it a try. First off, what a cute block! I've never been to Cincy before this so I strolled around there looking around and thought the area was very cool. There's plenty of parking in the parking lot on the other side of the block. I popped in and it took me a moment to figure out what I wanted since it was my first time there. In the end I landed on a "side by side" which was a serving of the edible chocolate chip cookie dough and a swirled soft serve. The staff was less than warm and friendly, fairly aloof, but they were quick. The soft serve ice cream was delicious. Creamy, just the right amount of sweet, and very satisfying. The cookie dough was good but there was an after flavor I couldn't quite pin down which, after a while, tired out my tastebuds. So I didn't finish that part. Next time I'd come back I'd probably stick with one of ice cream based treats. That affogato in particular looked VERY good! read more

I scream, you scream, we all scream for COOKIE DOUGH! I'm happy there is a place you can eat cookie dough and not have to worry about your mom slapping your hand and saying "don't eat that, you'll get salmonella." I've tried the sugar cookie, chocolate chip, and chocolate chip brownie cookie dough with an equal enjoyment of all three. I loaded up on the chocolate chip to take home and it was a huge success with my wife! You can even get ice cream with your cookie dough and they do a variety of malts, shaved ice, and coffee shop related beverages. The staff was pleasant, accommodating, and cheerful. The parlor is smaller but has seating in and out side. The decor is fun and very much what I would expect to see in a ice cream parlor; a giant transformer in the corner, bright colored chairs, giant penny made of real pennies, and a random Elvis Presley clock with live action swinging hips. So good! The only thing I had to gripe about is the very small selection of dairy free items. But the cookie dough is fantastic and super filling. The place was very cute, and the workers were very kind. It wasn't busy, which was nice because it gave us extra time to consider what we wanted. I thought this would be a cute new ice cream parlor to try as an alternative to my usual Graeter's, but I will definitely not be returning again. I entered on a late Sunday afternoon with my mother, and no other customers were in the store. Therefore, the two young ladies working were paying no attention and were actually watching Netflix on their phone or tablet. They did not take notice of our presence until I spoke up, at which point they quickly tried to hide the video and act professional. I had never been so I had to ask about some of the menu options and try a few things, which they weren't great at doing. I asked to sample the cake batter cookie dough and she instead brought me the sugar cookie (but I chose not to make a fuss to be polite). Anyways, our desserts themselves weren't bad, certaintly nothing special though (whipped cream from a can instead of homemade like Graeter's). But while we were eating, I noticed the employees (once again with no customers to serve) sitting with their butts on the counter and feet up as well, right where the food gets prepared. Disgusting! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE COOKIE DOUGH AND SOFT SERVE. Whether it be McDonald's, DQ or gourmet soft serve I will eat it and love it. My standards aren't quite high, but to be honest I've never had a bad soft serve experience. The atmosphere and service is great--it gives you that old ice cream parlor feel (unfortunately, seating is limited). Their soft serve was creamy and delicious, it met my expectations. They offer either vanilla, chocolate or zebra; zebra is the best option in my opinion, because who doesn't love a chocolate vanilla blend?! I also enjoyed being able to eat my soft serve with my dog who enjoyed his cute little vanilla soft serve cup topped with a bone (you can opt for a whipped cream dog treat as well). YES DOGS CAN COME IN AND EAT WITH YOU!!! As for the cookie dough, it was quite interesting in a good way. It paired well with the soft serve and tasted like cookie dough, but the texture was a bit unexpected. The cookie dough had a light airy texture and was not dense or firm like your typical cookie dough bites. However, once you look past that unexpected surprise, the flavor is spot on. It was salty, sweet and filled with LOTS of chocolate chips. They offer 3 signature cookie dough flavors: original, cake batter, and sugar cookie as well as one rotating flavor, which for March 2019 is SAMOAS!!! So far, I've tried the original and samoas, both tasted great. Their most recommended item is the side by side, which comes with a large portion of ice cream (about 3/4) and cookie dough (1/4). When you pair the cookie dough with ice cream it is the absolute perfect combination. Since soft serve is light, having fluffy cookie dough compliments its texture well. Even though it's 5 dollars, the portion is HUGE and shareable between two people. They also offer cookie dough alone, cookie dough flights and a bunch of other items (coffee/espresso combinations, shakes, sundaes, endless toppings, some regular ice cream options and more). I plan on coming back with my dog in the future ( it's his new favorite place and has replaced his love for Starbucks puppuccinos) My one recommendations or request would be to sell small, medium and large side by side options. After having dinner down the street at Lucius Q, my friend strongly suggested that we come here for a bite of dessert. I've been meaning to check this place out for a while now and I'm glad it finally happened! I'm not up for straight up scoops of cookie dough, but what my friend suggested, the flurry, sounded perfect for me! So I built my own! I wanted to try their seasonal Oreo cheesecake cookie batter, but apparently they were out. So my second choice was birthday cookies. The woman working there said she liked them slightly better than the regular sugar cookies because it was the same recipe but the birthday cookies had actual cake mix in it. Sounds Yum! Anyway, so I got a flurry with birthday cookies, Reese's cups and peanut butter sauce with swirl ice cream. It was delicious! I would happily return to make another of the exact same thing. Yum!!! I am a sucker for cookie dough; I will willingly eat it fresh from a plastic tube, raw egg and all. So I knew when Pendleton Parlor had a flight of edible cookie dough, I was on it! I think it's pretty close to actual cookie dough. The taste was great, salty and sweet just as you'd expect. The flight is a small sampling of each flavor. I LOVED the original cookie dough, brownie batter and sugar cookie. The cake flavor was just okay. Sizing was just right just an after dinner treat. I ate some, gave some to my mom and kiddo to try and still had a sample leftover for the next day! And it was just as yummy on day 2 from my fridge! Hubby ordered the Java Whip and also really loved it. We've had it before from the Mt. Washington Creamy Whip (same family) so we knew it was a solid choice. Decor is so cute and kitschy! Loved the small steps up to order and the long bar to stay and eat. Not having any prices listed is a biiiiiig downfall. It seems very sneaky to not list your prices. Our cookie dough flight and Java Whip was $12- so I can only assume $8 and $4 but no clue really.
