Walker Bros is a wonderful, seasonal soft serve ice cream spot, smack dab in the heart of the Heritage District of Montgomery, Ohio. It's tucked right behind the main thoroughfare, and it's across from Montgomery Inn. It's an ideal spot for locals to walk up with their kids in tow, and or pets. There's outdoor seating and oldies playing through the speakers. They serve typical soft serve, and also offer shakes, sundaes and " candied mix ice cream. You really cannot go wrong with just a good ole vanilla chocolate swirl. I had a medium and it was a hearty sized serving. This was pretty bad. It comes down to a few factors here. The first and most important is the taste and quality of the actual ice cream. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be something other than "ice cream," but it tasted like something in between flavored ice and actual ice cream. There was a distinct cheapness to the flavor and texture that I can't quite describe. The second aspect of that was the cheapness of the cones. They are just bottom of the barrel quality cones. And the paper on my medium cone appeared to actually be glued to the cone itself. That was pretty gross. The third problem is that the price of all this was sky high. One medium cone and two kiddie cones was almost $13, and the medium cone had about half of the "ice cream" I was expecting for the price. I put "ice cream" in quotes because it very much tasted like a poor simulacrum of ice cream. You would think that since the operation is outside seating only that maybe they're saving on costs and able to allocate more of their business expenditure on quality ingredients. But what you get is overpriced dollar store ice cream while having to sit outside. Never again. Just wow. Forget about all these reviews discussing non-profits and masks and seating distances. That's all completely tangential to what's really important here. If you want actual ice cream and you like getting some kind of return on your dollar, avoid this place like the plague. read more

What a nice neighborhood soft serve place!! We decided to stop by because they were having a fundraiser for Girls in the Run. A percentage of the day's sales went to the non-profit!! When we went there there were only 2 flavors to choose from...not too many selections. The ice cream was alright, honestly I prefer McDonald's soft serve over Walkers. The soundtrack they were playing was filled with oldies, perfect for a summer night. I discovered my love for soft serve and Buckeyes at this place. I ordered a small soft serve with Buckeyes, and it was way more than plenty. I think I'll go with the kiddie size next time. They do not skimp at all on the toppings. A nice addition to Montgomery This is a cool little place that just opened up by me in Montgomery. It's a little family run soft serve...For what it is, it was pretty good. They were passing out coupons at the Montgomery 4th of July parade, so we had to get my daughter one! I got her a vanilla and blueberry swirl...tasted damn near the old Smurf Ice Cream from King's Island back in the day. I thought that was pretty cool. Stopped by on a Wednesday afternoon. There were a few families who stopped by with their elementary aged kids. It has a really nice patio with a trellis, would love to stop by again when it's darker out because there were lights strung up! The staff was friendly, the menu was simple which I found to be really great. 3 flavors of ice cream with dips and a flavor of the week. I got a small cherry dipped vanilla cone. It was really good and plenty big for a small! This would be an awesome place for a date night, especially if I was in the neighborhood. We were checking out the chocolate shop next door when we discovered Walker Bros. This cute creamery is tucked away and you wouldn't no it was here unless you were a local or you were looking for sweets on the Yelp app. The worker behind the counter was friendly and patient as we looked over the menu. We ordered the Reese's cup whip which tasted great and was heavy on the Reese's (no complaints here!). They have specialty menu items named after the sons, who were also the inspiration for the business's name. And the patio is perfect for relaxing, people watching and enjoying your ice cream. I'm a plain vanilla in a cake cone guy. This place is one of the best kept secrets around. Plenty of outdoor seating. And CLEAN! Nice value for the money and served at the perfect temperature. Though I'm the vanilla guy...the very nice staff tried to entice me with the flavor of the week...orange...gotta admit it was good and likely tasty swirled with vanilla...but like I said I'm a vanilla guy. Ice cream is typical soft serve but the selling point is the unique sundae options, largely created by one of the 4 Walker Brothers the stand is named after.
