Wow! We can get Dole pineapple soft serve in Cincinnati. I used to enjoy Dole Whip in Hawaii. So it was a treat. We ordered medium size in a cup to share. The portion was generous. Much larger than Hawaii. I also liked that it was not as sweet. Yum! read more

A hidden gem!! I am not sure how I have lived in Cincinnati and have never heard of this place until now. My friend and I both got the blueberry ice cream. It was delicious and hit the spot! It is a small, walk up ice cream place. The workers are always so kind and the ice cream is made quickly. There is usually a pretty good line, but don't worry, it goes fast! Updating to add that The Dipper now has rotating flavors of Dole Whip! This great dairy free alternative can be had as a single flavor, swirled, or in some of their icee + dole whip combos. They always have the original pineapple flavor but have also had strawberry and orange that I have experienced so far. Definitely reccomend if you are dairy free! read more

This is a great local ice cream shop with competitive prices and tons of options! They have 3 different types of dole whip at the time I went: orange, pineapple & Strawberry. Blueberry ice cream, chocolate, vanilla & twist. They have tons of sundaes and shake options. They accept credit cards which is nice compared to other local dairy bars who don't. The employees are always friendly. They have a sitting area a little walk down from the establishment. Walked over from a friends house around 8pm to get some ice cream after dinner. The line was surprisingly long, and the menu could have been more efficient to read. I got a traditional soft serve chocolate ice cream and it wasn't anything special. My friends got root beer float, and other ice cream options with a cone and sprinkles. I think this is a nice little neighborhood ice cream shop, but nothing to write home about. The only bad thing is there's almost no seating. It's the best ice cream in the Silverton area. It's located right next to the Italianette. They are both owned by the same family I think. It only has a window you order at. There's no drive thru or anything like that. It's nothing fancy. The place seems to be bare bones when it comes to places to sit. It seems the focus is on the product. I had a green apple slushie. This particular flavor isn't common at ice cream places as far as I can tell. It's about $2 for the medium size. The slushies are a lot slushier compared to most others, which is good because they don't quickly freeze up. If only they had more places for people to sit. It has one bench in front. Any place with a clever name gets people to stop by, which is exactly what drew me to Hold The Nuts! on a recent trip to Silverton. A walk-up, hole-in-the-wall creamy whip, Hold The Nuts! is located next to Italianette and run by the same folks. As I walked up to the window, a sign read: "To order ice cream, go to the Italianette." The clerk inside the restaurant called for the manager, who met me back over at the Hold The Nuts! window. Odd, I know. I kept it simple and went with a soft serve flavor burst. I was handed a huge cone that only cost $2.00. Elsewhere, I've paid $2.75 or more. It was a cool, 70º spring day and the ice cream started melting immediately. Actually, it was the flavor topping that was dripping down my hand.
