Penguin Palace is summer. Ice cream stands like are a part of Ohio culture and Penguin Palace is one of the good ones. Good soft serve ice cream, fun sundae, and a few extras. Their ice cream is four stars. Nothing wrong with it, but nothing to blow you away. The Peanut Butter Delight, the Funky Monkey, and the Pecan Joy are excellent sundaes. The kids like the Blue Moon and Unicorn sundaes. Dole Whip is great if you have dietary restrictions. It hits the spot if you want soft serve. But the atmosphere and the staff are everything. This a part of the neighborhood. When we eat here, literally half the time we see neighbors or classmates. People walk up or drive over. They bring their dogs and everyone wants to pet them. The kids play games while they wait. The staff is mostly local students and they are patient, friendly, and good at their jobs. They listen while my kids take 45 seconds to explain their order. They always remember extra napkins. They'll throw a cone on top of the sundae. Penguin Palace understands the assignment. Went to Penguin Palace last night and ordered 2 medium sundaes. They charged more than the advertised price. I asked why it was more and the response was thats what the computer says. I told them what the sign said. A male came out looked at the sign says yeah thats what the sign says. They did not apologize , they did not give us money back , they did nothing. We paid in cash usually cash gets you a discount now a days because of the credit card fees. They did nothing to make it right. Will not be going back. They charged us a dollar more per sundae. read more

Literally the best place to get soft serve ice cream in the south end of Toledo or in the maumee area! They have countless options of sundaes, milkshakes, slushies, and other frozen treats. I usually get their dole whip twist, which is orange and pineapple, or the dole whip flavor of the week. The staff is super friendly, even when they are slammed and things are crazy. And there are tables with benches available to sit at. If they're al taken I've eaten my ice cream sitting on my tailgate. read more

Staff was very friendly and helpful. My son absolutely loved the blue moon ice cream and the Smurf tornado was amazing.

Our favorite soft serve ever!! They have the best combinations and add ins. The cheesecake bites are so good.

This was a cool local place. It has that hometown old school vibe. There is easy parking in the lot. I got a sundae which is soft serve. My only negative is all the toppings are on the top and it is served in a cup so you are forced to eat the topping right away then all that's remaking is vanilla ice cream. But they have so many things to choose from. I just think I would get a come next time! read more

Smurf ice cream in a cone with a face = my childhood. Ever since I can remember, Penguin Palace has been a staple in my life always providing the icy, delicious and vibrant blue ice cream that never fails to disappoint. Apparently I've been eating the stuff since I was in the womb, as one of my mom's pregnancy cravings consisted of smurf ice cream with crunch coating. I have a VHS home video of my "gradution" of preschool where I ended the day going to celebrate with my favorite treat. And even today, a trip to Penguin Palace sends me down memory lane and I leave with a smile on my face. When I ordered my smurf in a cone with a face this summer after many years without a visit due to being out of state, the teenaged girl snootily replied "you mean blue raspberry?" A bit sad but once I saw the swirl of blue ice cream and the face made out of sprinkles, I was a kid again. This place is classic, lots of options and good prices. As you can probably tell, I love the smurf soft serve but their tornadoes are great too, lots of toppings. read more

Great neighborhood place. Had the vanilla yogurt in a waffle cone. If you live in the area, it's a great quick stop for ice cream. The frozen yogurt was a great mix- some of the tastiest I've had. The waffle cone itself was likely store bought and on the fringe of stale- I was able to overlook that based on the quality of the frozen yogurt. read more

Yummy, yummy, in my tummy! The turtle sundae was amazing ! The amount of carmel, hot fudge, and nuts almost took up the size of my small sundae. They only have soft serve but that is my favorite when it comes to sundaes. My boyfriend ordered a giant peanut butter shake and he love it. He noted how they added in more peanut butter than most places he has been too. We will for sure be stopping by here again for another cool treat this summer! read more

Not impressed with this place. Got an Oreo tornado with chocolate ice cream an it was served in a small styrofoam cup. For my self, my husband and my two small boys the cost was over $10.00. After we received our ice cream we sat on the metal picnic tables that were covered in sticky old ice cream and teenagers were spitting on the ground, it was not a very appetizing visit.
