Popular place, but because of this it's very slow. The menu is very limited. Prices are good!

Really great service, tasty ice cream, and a massive menu. All at a reasonable price. Can't beat it!

I loved the paprika and sour cream sauce. I ordered the roast beef sliders with the horseradish aioli on the side. They were amazing! I wish I could cook roast beef like these sliders. (I learned about the sliders on their website promotions page.) My husband had the Classic Hot dog with macaroni and cheese. He ate every bite! We ordered the Lemon Strudel with ice cream for dessert. I loved the signed buns hanging on the walls. Fun decor! I am glad that I was able to come here for the very first time.

Her partner at the time was deeply into pickles. And Packo's is almost synonymous with pickles. If there is any doubt, stick your head into the gift shop. As good as everything is, the pickles may be the best part. For the sake of full disclosure, I am still continuing to dial in my perfect order at TPs. I think I was pretty close on the last trip with stuffed cabbage and a Hungarian "hot dog" with chili, onions, and mustard. Personally, I find adding this cheese to these hot dogs does not add much beyond calories and fat (and not the kind of fat that equals flavor, there is already plenty of that in the sausage and chili). But the hot dogs come with pickles. And they are magnificent. It's kind of like the fun that comes with eating shishito peppers. You never know which one is going to be the spicy one. The spicy ones are especially delightful. One of these days I'll get the fried pickles. I am sure they are divine, and may bring the place up to 5 stars. But I need to bring a crew with me, and regrettably, my family just isn't into this type of cuisine. For me, the stuffed cabbage tapped into some ancient ancestral memory and brought me an unreasonable amount of joy. So it goes. Personally, I found the pierogi to be a bit dry, but my basis for comparison is Polish. Perhaps this is precisely how pierogi are prepared in Hungary. But the bottom line is that Tony Packo's is a regional treasure. If you haven't been, go. If you've gone, visit them again. These are trying time for restaurants and if we do not support them they may shutter. That would be a tragedy.

Sure, other hot dogs might be cheaper, but they only serve Koegel Vienna franks, produced in Flint, MI. Likewise, other potato chips might be more profitable to sell, but they only carry Ballreich's chips, made locally in Tiffin, OH. Now Al might not tell you where he gets some of his amazing ingredients, like the neon green relish that makes his Chi Dawg so authentically Chicago, but you can sure taste the quality difference! Our family has been running into the Weenie Dawgs cart for years, especially on weekends at Mary Jane Thurston State Park in Grand Rapids, or on Wednesdays at the Bowling Green farmer's market. As one might expect, we all have different favourites: mine is the Chi Dawg, my son loves the Juan Hot Mama Dawg with the spicy Koegel sausage, my wife prefers the Detroit Dawg, while one daughter goes with the vegetarian dawg and the other the Texas Dawg. So no matter your interest, Weenie Dawgs probably has a dog for you! PROS: very friendly staff, very good food, and reasonable prices CONS: being a food truck, they can be challenging to locate Overall I rate Weenie Dawgs as being Very Good, and look forward to finding them again!

The main difference (recipe wise) between "Lafayette Coney Island" and the inferior "American…read moreConey" is the chili & onions. American uses boring "sweet onions" while Lafayette uses "SPANISH onions " which have more kick. But the real difference is the Chili, and that's the reason for the split & disagreement. Lafayette has a MEATER chili, meaning they don't skimp on quality ingredients. My best friend and I used to skip school in the 80's just to eat here. And the bathroom is COOL! It's like an adventure! The other main difference is American Coney has open seating because REAL Detroiters don't eat there. When interviewed there's a real character difference between owners. Grace Keros, the 3rd gen owner of American Coney likes to talk sh1t. You don't need to do that when your product is superior. Every interview she gives is sour grapes. Plus REAL Detroiters Coney dogs never put CHEESE on the coneys. American Coney = FAKE Detroit Coneys. Here is a pic of me in my $4Million Batmobile. Batman prefers Lafayette!

The Coney dog ($4) was ordered. It had the classic toppings of bean less chili, yellow mustard, and raw chopped white onions. This was solid. There was a nice bite on the chili with plenty of mustard and onions. The bread was soft and the hot dog was cooked appropriately. The chili was the key as it was hearty and meaty. Will I go back? Yeah, sure.

I enjoyed some fantastic chili dogs and a homemade root beer in a frosted mug. I absolutely loved the chili; it was sweet and had a tang to it; it really complemented the hot dog very well. For those of you who like coneys, note that these are Monroe-style chili dogs - not coney dogs - so it has chili on the dog and not coney sauce. Personally, I prefer a chili dog over a coney dog. I was told to return to try a burger for which I already read great reviews. I also loved the homemade root beer, and the service was fantastic. They also have a nice covered patio to eat your meal. I will be returning soon.

The coney sauce is very different so be prepared, but it's good! It's quite red and has a very tomato base flavor and not much chili or chunky meat. I enjoyed it! Their fries are frozen not fresh but they have some skins on them and they fried them crispy so that was a plus. The prices are fantastic. $2.25 for a coney is a great deal in my opinion. Their rootbeer is even freshly made. I did have a gyro and it was also good. The staff is very friendly. We sat outside because it was a pretty nice day, a little windy but nice out. There was no restroom for guests which was a bummer when my 6 yr old really had to go potty before leaving. I'll definitely be back if we are in the area again.
