I never imagined I would be writing a review like this, but I feel obligated to share my experience…read moreso others know they should always seek a second opinion before agreeing to extensive dental treatment. I initially came here because I had a painful tooth that I already knew likely needed a root canal according to my previous dentist. After beginning the root canal, I was told the decay was too extensive and that the tooth could not be saved. The dentist strongly recommended extracting it immediately. Trusting their professional judgment, I agreed. The tooth was extracted, a bone graft and membrane were placed, and I was told to return in about a week for a follow-up. Two days later, the office called and asked me to come back because they had a cancellation and wanted to take a full-mouth set of X-rays to make sure everything else looked healthy. That appointment completely blindsided me. The owner of the practice Dr. Nadi, came in and told me I had six cavities, several failing fillings, two crowns that needed to be replaced, another tooth that urgently needed a root canal, severe gum inflammation requiring laser treatment that insurance would not cover, and that I needed to start treatment immediately. For context, I had been seeing my prior dentist for nearly 22 years before making an emergency appointment with Dr.Smile, and had been there less than a year earlier and left with no problems other than eventually needing a root canal. I brush, floss daily, and use a Waterpik. When I mentioned that, I was told my previous dentist had done poor-quality work and that's why I supposedly had so many problems. Then I received the treatment estimate. With my dental insurance, the total came to $11,325, including approximately $5,200 for an implant to replace the tooth they had just extracted. The estimate also included numerous additional fees, such as multiple charges for desensitizing medication $95 each tooth for 5 teeth, expensive lab fees totaling $1,950, BioPure charges amounting to $800, laser gum treatment $600, and mandatory IV sedation for the future implant amounting to $1,000 for 30 minutes. I was overwhelmed and honestly broke down crying in the office because there was no possible way I could afford it. I explained that to the financial coordinator, who left to speak with the dentist and returned with what was presented as a solution: the treatment would be reduced to $10,000 if I financed it through Cherry at roughly $400 per month, and they encouraged me to begin treatment that same day. Thankfully, I decided to get a second opinion before moving forward. I returned to my longtime dental office the very next day. They took new X-rays, completed a full examination, and their findings were dramatically different. They told me I had no cavities, my back molar did not need a root canal, my gums were healthy and did not require laser treatment or a deep cleaning, both of my crowns were in good condition, and only one filling would eventually need attention. They also reviewed previous X-rays and told me they believed the tooth that had been extracted may have been salvageable. They have since taken over my care, removed my stitches at no charge, completed my cleaning, and will be handling my implant for significantly less than what I was quoted here, and without mandatory IV sedation. I understand that dentistry can involve differences of professional opinion. However, the contrast between these two treatment plans was so significant that I cannot recommend this office based on my experience. If you are ever presented with an extensive or very expensive treatment plan here, I strongly encourage you to seek a second opinion before making any decisions. It gave me peace of mind, and it may save someone else from going through the emotional stress that I experienced. I do want to give credit where it's due. Every staff member I interacted with was kind, professional, and compassionate. The assistants and front office staff treated me with respect, and I appreciated how friendly everyone was throughout my visits. My review is not about the personalities of the staff, it is about the treatment recommendations and the enormous discrepancy between what I was told I needed and what an independent second opinion found.

I wanted to know where he was getting this info and why it was needed. As a patient, do I not have the right to know? Especially since its deviating from what was agreed on?! My other sub-par Dentist at least stated they didnt agree with this. Maybe in the future it may be needed but not now. It seemed like Omotto was just searching how to con me out of more money. Because when that didnt work.. So I said just the two and no more. Like our original agreement. I was already stretched to the limit in terms of finances and here for surgery. Not more consultation. However, it wasn't over but now he also wants more x-rays!! My other Dentist already sent them; full 360 and up close detail of the area from a few days ago. So now he wants the same thing and an extra $260?? Again... NO. They were sent and on his desk!! He wasn't happy with my decision and literally shook his head. Why? To do what we had agreed on? So we forged ahead and almost had terror hit home. I needed sedation and was being strapped down with bright lights in my face. I explicitly told them that this type of situation usually causrs panic attacks as I suffer from PTSD. I was/still am USMC and was captured and tortured once. Despite telling them before to give me some anti-anxiety medication FIRST they were doing the opposite I was fading and starting to lose it when the ONE GOOD PERSON I'd met there helped out. I had a very sweet and caring Nurse, "G" When she did a very human and sympathetic action. She softly and in-no-way unprofessional, touched my face and gently kept saying it would be okay until the anti-anxiety medicine was given and eventually I was put under. Afterwards, she was there to help me walk and get my bearings again. She didnt rush me. She made sure I was coming out of the sedation fog and didnt push it. "G" If u somehow read this, thank you so much! You get the Star for this place. I'm sorry for the things you probably endure each day there. Getting back to basics, I was concerned about the lack of PPE's (Personal Protective Gear) as there was limited to none. Just FYI as that's standard practice. Will be checking with BBB on that... Further, Dr. Otto-whatever never stopped to see me in recovery, nor did he call or text to check and see how I was doing. None of his staff either! I never saw or heard from him again. From the say prior in consultation, he is smug and brash, acting like he knows everything and his patients are all idiots and things like my genuine concerns aren't important to him. He didnt take notes or anything when I outlined some very important things to know!! He wants his money or a significant $$$ down before he even gives you the time of day. Period. And then he gets it, does his sub-standard work (as I'm still hurting), and pardon my French, but I am a human being, and you have no right to treat me that way. I fought and risked my life for 20 god damn years for your freedom and safety just to get talked down to like I'm a sub-standard human being because I have some nightmares on things you couldn't handle for a day? ÷×@# you!! I would not recommend this place or Doctor to anyone. It looks nice and I'm sure that's from all money he has swindled out of people for extra things. He doesn't care about his patients, how they may be hurting or barely getting by, just their money. Dentistry is an option in life I guess. Forget a courtesy like checking with your patients after a procedure, being available for any questions, or listening to concerns any patient may have. I dont ask for much. But act like so many other Doctors out there that think they they know what is best, are above others, and forget emotions or feelings patients may have. Recently, I went in for a routine exam and basic cleaning. The new doctor (Cameron Adam Kwiatkouski) was friendly at first. Knowing this office's reputation, I explicitly asked him to "keep it light" when probing my gums. The exam went smoothly. He explicitly concluded by saying everything looked good, they would just "keep an eye" on a few spots, and that my routine cleaning would start shortly. Everything changed 15 minutes later. The doctor walked back in with a completely different story. Suddenly, he claimed I was bleeding heavily (untrue--the tools were clean, and I tasted no blood) and that my gum pockets were measuring at "5s." Crucially, he never called out a single "5" while actually doing the probe measurement during the exam. He then aggressively pitched a "deep cleaning" package. I calmly told him I wanted to proceed with just the regular cleaning covered by my insurance, and that I would step up my flossing at home. He refused to drop it, added a laundry list of expensive descaling items to my file, and left. This office operates like a predatory car dealership. They trap you in the dental chair in a semi-laying down position, and bring in a front-desk staff member trained in high-pressure sales tactics. They even have digital signature pads and monitors mounted right next to your hand to "motivate" you to sign financial contracts on the spot. A representative named Michelle came in to close the sales pitch demanding I shell out ~$600 out of pocket on the spot. I sat completely upright to break their routine tactic and told her, "No thanks, I just want my basic cleaning." Michelle took the paperwork to the back office. The doctor refused to come back out and face me himself. Instead, he sent Michelle back to inform me that because I was overdue since my last dental visit, he "was not comfortable" reccomending a normal cleaning. They completely denied me the basic preventive care fully covered by my insurance simply because I refused to be scammed out of $600. This place prioritizes corporate sales quotas over actual patient health. If you want an ethical dentist who won't invent fake diagnoses and deny you insured care, go somewhere else.

It's been 6 weeks since my double jaw surgery and genioplasty and I am so happy with my results so far. There's still a ways to go with recovery, but I'm finally able to breathe through my nose and feel much more rested when I wake up and throughout the day. My airway has greatly improved as well.
