Some things to note: * They love their UFC here, so if you're into that def come on over. There were more screens dedicated to UFC than WC semi-finals when I visited and the packed restaurant ROARED when the UFC action was happening. * They do line dancing lessons and trivia nights and other fun entertainment here (check the schedule). * The pizza is NY-style, very legit, love the crust, and you can get a whole pie or (I love that you can get it) by the slice. * I also tried the wings. I usually go for bbq or buffalo to keep it safe but tried their tequila miso since it sounded unique. Def delicious and loved the ranch it came with. Would get it again. * They have a separate arcade room with pinball machines and TV screens tucked in the back. There are multiple tables and it's great for a private party. I'm so happy with the staff putting me back there instead of the main room bc the main room that evening was too loud for the kiddos. The back room was perfect.

Seating was excellent and the sound was even better! Hats off to the sound engineer. The place was nice and clean (restrooms too). Lighting was very good (not too bright or too dark). Great free hot coffee and tea. The young lady up front (taking tickets and ushering people in) was friendly and very helpful (it was my first time visiting Alvas, and I'm sorry but I had a lot of goofy questions). They were Avatari and Zach King with a warmup by Martinez. They were all really good to listen to and my favorite was Avatari. He has great showmanship, singing skills and audience interaction even walking around the audience doing fistbumps and belting out some great sounds. The cover was only $13 and I had one delicious Guinness beer. I also had a nice booth in the rear, not far from stage. The staff was friendly and professional which isn't the norm at music clubs...didn't detect any gratuitous attitude. My verdict is St. Rock is a must visit for live music fans in the southbay. I checked their schedule and if I had more time, I'd be rockin' there regularly. Highly recommended.

This venue books small acts and I'm guessing mostly only acoustic since their stage area is so tiny. My friends and I were walking by during the Fiesta Hermosa festival last year and they had a small stage set up in their courtyard and the band I-94 caught our attention and we actually bought tickets to see their next show there. It's not like other venues where you can show up anytime, grab a drink and stand around it's an arrive before the show starts, sit down, order drinks, don't move and be quiet kind of place. Although I did enjoy some of the musical acts I felt the comedy acts between sets were unnecessary and didn't fit with the musical theme of the lounge. Eventhough I like I-94 and the venue in general I haven't been back to see their other performances because when I go out hear and enjoy music I don't like being forced to sit through and entire show like a punished school kid.

They have something for everyone 7 days a week and all day on the weekends. Always top quality bands and a super fun vibe and atmosphere. The food is great and unless it's a special event there is usually no cover charge. I personally have also had the privilege of playing there as a musician and it's always so professional and the sound engineer is really on the ball and knows what he is doing. This year we got the usual great lineup but instead of the DIY style show in a parking lot, Professor Vic moved it to the Cathedral. Located right off Garey, The Cathedral is tough to miss. There's plenty of street parking on Center St and there's also a small parking lot across the street. This used to be a YMCA but it looks like an old church with dark wood flooring, high ceilings and stained glass windows. A very cool venue. How did it sound? Loud. Extremely loud. They also had a huge video board which gave each band a little extra hot sauce. There were a couple of bars in the back and you could also order food. It's air conditioned in there but between the heat (100+ outside at the time) and the amount of bodies inside, it was at least bearable. Mosh for Youth was great as always and while I loved the DIY ethos in the past this felt like a leap forward. The sound, look and venue made this feel big time. I hope future MFY shows take place here...until they maybe outgrow this place too, which would mean more scholarships for the kids. Highly recommended!

We parked about a half mile away and a public lot by the West Hollywood library, parking was only 12 bucks and it was a nice short walk to the venue and no traffic getting g out when we left the show. The event was sold out, and we got there right when doors opened. The line out front was not too long and security kept everybody moving really quick. Full bar and food inside. The main room is tiny, so anywhere you stand you will have a great view of the performers. I definitely plan to come back to see another show here, wish I had caught shows here in the past... It looks like they have a valet parking stand and there is some street parking out front.
