I love love love this place. I play here with my band and every time I step foot in this building I'm greeted by the kindest staff. JP the GM is lovely and always running around helping his staff and musicians, the bartenders are working overtime to make sure every drink is made perfectly and quickly and the servers and extremely kind and accommodating. Best place for live music in the South Bay hands down.

Great food! Great music! Hunter Benson rocked the stage!! Food was delicious and service was perfect!

Legendary venue for obvious reasons! I recommend getting here as early as possible if you're there to hear the performers because seats fill up super quickly on weekends for brunch. There's a parking lot directly behind this location which is perfect if you can find a spot so again it's very important to either live close by or be early enough to snag a good parking spot and hopefully by default you'd snag a great spot to sit inside as well. There's food is really just whatever but it does the job and really we're there for the band anyways right? With the music being an easy 10/10 any day in combination with a gorgeous interior and a little skylight -- this is truly a wonderful place to have a date or a brunch with friends/family. Sit outside if you want to be able to talk without yelling over the musicians. I will be back forsure!

Such a great local spot for music lovers. There is always a great band playing or a DJ. The bartenders and servers are always friendly and give great service. They also have delicious fries with an aioli dip, my favorite!

Great place- always awesome music- great bands. Sunday morning jazz brunch is a classic. The drinks and food are good enough- keep it simple- you're here to hang for the mixologist.

Old school since 1940. I bought tickets to see the Led Zeppelin tribute band Zeppelin Revisited playing here with an early show on a Sunday afternoon. The bar restaurant has a small stage but it's roomy enough for the band members to move around. The place got busy with only standing room available. The sound was great and the bar service was awesome by the young bartender girls quickly making the drink orders.

it was SO cool to eat here as La La Land fans--that alone makes this experience a must. everyone looked like they were having fun and the live music was amazing. the food was nothing special. we got burgers and i couldn't finish it because i thought the texture was weird :/ service was also quite slow. and the menus smelled bad. BUT overall i would recommend it! it's also in a great area and you can walk along the pier after (also in La La Land!).

Came here as a huge La La Land fan and was not disappointed. We arrived right when they opened at 4 on a cooler, misty day so we were the only people in the restaurant. Got to sit right where Mia and Seb sat by the stage- loved that. Had the grilled cheese and tomato soup which was so cozy and satisfying. The windows were open, so we enjoyed the sounds of a performer out front on the patio. If you also love the movie, you gotta check out the memorabilia by the bathroom and the back of the building.

What days do they the live jazz bands?

The Lighthouse Cafe in Hermosa Beach, home of West Coast Jazz since 1949, features Monday Night Jazz with Jacques Lesure & the New Lighthouse All Stars every Monday night from 8:00pm to 11:00pm. It's the real deal and it's great!

Do I have to be 21 to just go inside and eat or is all ages accepted? I am 20 that's why

You can go inside to eat before 9p. You just can't sit at the bar.

    Can kids dine here?

Yes but there is no kid's menu 4 my 4years old son French fries or grilled cheese sandwich was the only choice as I remember

Is the owner or management responding to emails fr customers? I have sent 2 emails and have called several times and left messages, no reply!

Hi Oasis, Please feel free to contact me directly.…

What nights do you do reggae?

    Sundays from 5-9pm with Wais

When will Monday night Salsa classes return?

Salsa Night is now on Tuesdays starting at 8pm

Are there live jazz bands currently?

The classic jazz you might be looking for, they no longer have. It's all modern day music not real jazz with a full band

Are they going to re-open? All the other bars on the pier have opened, but they are still closed.

Lighthouse is now open. We've been going for the past few weekends.

Is it reggae music on Sundays?

    Yes

Whats the vibe here Thursday evenings?

Thursdays are a good night to go. Weekends can get pretty busy.

Is there a happy hour during brunch? Are the drinks reasonably priced during brunch?

    $5 Bloody Mary's, $5 Mimosas, and $20 bottles of Champagne w/ juice.

Can anyone under 21 get in after certain hour at night if they don't drink at all?

No. But you can call the Lighthouse to confirm.

Is there a wait to be seated for Sunday brunch? Thinking about arriving when it opens @ 11:00 am?

First come first server if arriving @ 11am finding a table shouldn't be an issue. See you then...

The food was quite lackluster across the board, unfortunately, but I would come back for dessert and a drink. Having a reservation seems like a must, as there isn't much seating. Seems like a good place for mid-sized groups of 4-6 people. Price point was a bit on the higher end, especially considering the food we had. I don't think a single dish inspired me to "write home about." Lots of fusion stuff that just didn't hit how it should. Fox and Farrow is connected to another bar with a very different ambiance - more like a sports bar, from what I remember - and they were rowdy while watching a sports game. We ended up hanging over there after our meal.

It's literally walking distance from our hotel in Torrance -- so close we actually walked past it the first time without even realizing it was there. Super hidden, easy to miss. The space itself is small, and when you first walk in it doesn't hit you with an over-the-top tiki vibe right away. But once the drinks start coming out, it fully delivers. The glassware is so fun and themed -- I was obsessed with the flamingo cup and actually ended up buying a couple online since I couldn't take the real one home with me. Drink-wise, I stuck mostly to my usual zombie, which has this great earthy, cinnamon-y flavor that's just different from anything else -- does the trick every time (there's a two-drink max/minimum on it, which I respect). We also tried a Makahiki Mua and a Painkiller, both really solid. The Makahiki Mua had a fun flavor, kind of similar to a Painkiller, but the zombie is still my go-to. Service was pretty good overall -- the bartender stayed mostly in one corner of the bar, which actually worked in our favor since we got served fast. A couple of small quirks though: they only have a limited number of menus, so we kept having to pass one back and forth around the bar, which felt a little silly. They also seemed to be running low on drink cups at times, having to wash and rotate them back into use, which was an odd thing to notice at a bar this size. Also wish they had some food or snacks available, even something small -- but that's a minor gripe. Vibe-wise, this is easily one of my favorite tiki lounges I've been to -- doesn't quite topple Broken Compass Tiki for me, but it's up there. Fun, easy, great drinks, solid service despite the small hiccups, and a perfect spot if you're staying in the Torrance area. Would absolutely go back and would recommend it to anyone chasing that tiki lounge crawl.

You can tell the chefs are dedicated to the craft. They're a 2025 bib gourmand restaurant and are hoping to aim for their first star, so their efforts into the decor, ambiance, and food shows (good luck!). The waitstaff/chefs were also very attentive. Mussels Tart - really delicious. Super unique and beautifully plated. No taste of fishiness or the ocean. Just overall a 5/5 dish that you must try. Beef tongue - I normally enjoy beef tongue thinly sliced at a Korean BBQ restaurant or coarsely chopped up in a street taco. They do it differently here. The beef tongue is one big cube. It's very flavorful and tender. Not as amazing as the mussels tart but still worth a try. Chili crab - this put them on the map. SUPER DELICIOUS. It's not what you'd expect from a creation called 'chili crab'. There's no shell to be seen and the crab meat is actually buried underneath. Scoop from the inside out. Tons of flavor and I wished the portion size was doubled. Lamb pappardelle - if you like lamb then you'll love this. Lots of different spices and flavors. It has a very deep flavor profile that makes you appreciate all the work and thought that went into designing this dish. I'd get this again also! Strawberry tiramisu - they brought this out for the birthday celebration. They prepared it in a gigantic bowl. Scooped out a generous portion and plated it right in front of us. I have a soft spot for tiramisu so I'd recommend this too. Best of luck on the Michelin star! I'd come back. 5/5

The restaurant is very quaint located in a trendy and busy area of Hermosa Beach. Parking is scarce, even the lot a few blocks away is packed. Some of the dishes had nice flavor but since the place is chef-run, timeliness was an issue. It takes about 45 minutes per course because I'm sure there's a lot of pride invested in each dish. Since the portions are so tiny, you have a lot of time to talk. We started with the mussel tart. This was very tasty with smoked clam and fennel cream. The pastry coating was light but chewy. I would say the presentation was appealing but it reminded me of a Star Wars fighter jet. I was looking forward to the fish dish since we were hungry. Kinilaw is a local fish I wasn't familiar with. It was served with sweet potato and cucumber with coconut flavor. It was a tad underwhelming mostly because we were wondering where the fish was (see photo). The salad had nice flavor but I was not fond of the presentation. Either the plate was too big or this was a "half salad" concept. They are well known for the chili crab and it was delicious. However, this was another case of "where's Waldo" when trying to share the Santa Barbara rock crab meat. The porchetta felt like a heartier hot main dish. Very crispy skin and tender meat. Again dividing by four a bit challenging. Our server recommended it and it was a good suggestion. The broccoli purée and black eye peas were a unique accompaniment. The lamb pappardelle was an essential hot dish. The sausage was lamb and cumin with kale sprinkled on top. This dish was delicious and would be very shareable for two. The dessert was banana-themed. Our server was so pleasant and served it with a smile on an oversized plate. The place and staff are quite nice. The dishes, for the most part, are flavorful. Just be sure to have a few hours for dinner and don't expect to be too full.
