I hadn't seen live music in awhile and I looked up the bands that were performing on youtube first(don't like surprises when it comes to the very hit or miss genres of music and comedy). They were Avatari and Zach King with a warmup by Martinez. They were all really good to listen to and my favorite was Avatari. He has great showmanship, singing skills and audience interaction even walking around the audience doing fistbumps and belting out some great sounds. The cover was only $13 and I had one delicious Guinness beer. I also had a nice booth in the rear, not far from stage. The staff was friendly and professional which isn't the norm at music clubs...didn't detect any gratuitous attitude. My verdict is St. Rock is a must visit for live music fans in the southbay. I checked their schedule and if I had more time, I'd be rockin' there regularly. Highly recommended. read more

Talk about a great small venue to see musical artists. The acoustics and sound tech are in point. The only downside here was the very dirty bathrooms, but that's a small critique. Sad to hear that this place is being repurposed... Glad I was able to see a few of the last performances held here, Missing Persons and Gene Loves Jezibel. read more

Re-opened and better than ever. Entrance is on the street side of PCH rather than the corner. New, well trained staff and security. Over the years, I've seen a number of great bands here. Definitely a fun place to go with friends or a date night. No food served at least as far as I know. Recommend rideshare or carpool as parking is tight. read more

I am a big fan of smaller venues, and this has become one of my favorites. I prefer the intimacy of seeing my favorite bands up close . There are great views of the stage from everywhere. I had a large party. we were accommodated with a room large enough to seat 10 of us with views of the stage . parking was at a minimum but hey it's the beach so it's to be expected. Four stars because there was water Dripping all over us from the ceiling. I've been to a lot of small clubs. I've never experienced that. read more

WOW! This place is a HIDDEN GEM. Such a cool layout and vibe and the staff are all so chill and inviting. Came here for see a concert and it was the most intimate vibe ever. Will be looking out for more concerts here. Parking is a bit of a drag because there is a tiny tiny lot behind, but parking in neighborhood so you do have to walk so depending on what time you get there, keep this in mind. Came here for the first time to watch Anuhea and the only bathroom available was clogged so they had to close it down. We had to literally walk across the street to CVS or the bar next door (if they even let you in) if you had to use the bathroom. Added the extra star because we made it in on time for the happy hour drinks and because Anuhea played a little bit instead of fully canceling the show, even though she had to rush through it and played only the popular songs. This was my first visit to Hermosa Beach, Saint Rocke certainly made me feel welcome. Saint Rocke - you guys certainly Rocke-d First time in Hermosa Beach and I could not have had a better experience. Saint Rocke a little nugget, nestled in Hermosa Beach at 2nd street. I was here to film for "The Clowns" I arrived and parked my car on the rear parking lot at Saint Rocke, limited parking but seems if you know the area. All is good on parking. I entered the building annoyed, I mean introduced myself to Blake the sound fury for Saint Rocke as I wanted to clarify where to stand and if I can snag a feed from his sound desk. Blake said sure I got you and even gave me an XLR. I put mine away, less trouble later for packing up. I caught the sound check and was introduced by The Clowns to two of their new songs. Nice one. Saint Rocke has an earthly warming atmosphere and for the size of the venue it suits and you can see they take pride and care in allowing patrons to have a rocking experience. Sound was on point THANKS Blake To wrap this up, would recommend the location to all solely on no drama, inviting location. I love LOVE Saint Rocke SOOO much. The drinks are great and priced well. They even have free water stations to keep yourself hydrated while drinking the harder stuff. The atmosphere is always fun. Great bands/music. Never any issues with service or fellow patrons (knock on wood). The ONLY negative is the limited parking at the actual venue itself, it's so small and attached with a fee. There is parking on the streets but if you don't get there early to scope one out you're going to have to walk a bit to get to the venue. But in my opinion it's worth it. read more

Beautiful place, awesome bartenders, great drinks!! I was there July 2nd for FEAR's show... the only downside of the night was the GM immediately moving everyone around the minute she got there in order to sell tables & make more space (it would have helped if she had gotten there before bands loaded in and their merch was set up, or if there had been better communication within the venue). She seemed more concerned about upselling the sold out event than taking care of the artists that allow the event to be sold out --their backstage wristband system was not exactly useful that day. The show itself was a blast, lineup was awesome, and future shows look amazing... I just hope that that was a one-off experience or, they tighten up their communication a little more to make for a smoother overall experience. Would definitely go back and give it another shot... their upcoming show lineups look like a lot of fun:) read more

Actually a horrible bar and entertainment center... let's be clear the bar is a 50/50 shot of over pouring or under pouring as if measurements didn't exist and the event staff is frantic and unorganized so enjoy that when you first walk in. But to clarify that would of still got a average rating from me what makes this a one star location is the new GM, let's talk about somebody who does not care about the customer and makes it clear her "career" is more important then our concerns.. I'm sorry but truly you wouldn't have a job without us so our concerns as customers is important. The ambiance is good if the lights are off, but generally it's a sticky corner bar type of situation so I'd say it could be better but it's fine how it is. To my knowledge their is no food. I met my Wife here back in July 2014 when the place was fun and the service was good. Seeing that they reopened the venue, it was much smaller inside from what I remembered. I booked a table for 2 in advance for $100 bar minimum. Ok that's fine. When we got there and found our table, we had to get our own drinks (no server). The mix drinks were very weak, a splash of Jack, all coke. I ordered a bourbon on the rocks and they charged me 4 bucks extra for the ice. Damn really? It wasn't a molded ice block in a fancy glass. , it was from a bag of ice. After the show, I went to pay my tab and saw that the lady added a "Large Party Tax" at 20% to our bill... we weren't a large party and I had to get up and get our own drinks. Talk about price gouging. I was planning to return for future shows but I will pass and take my business to other venues. I don't recommend this place. read more

We went there last night to see Tab Benoit and Anders Osborne. With all due respect to the evident regulars that patronize this place (many people seemed to know each other), it's an absolute freaking hole. The layout is funky (not in a good way). If you pop for a table, at extra expense, you buy a blocked view. The "tables room" is separated by support posts from the "stage room". In the tables room, people are allowed to stand between the stage and tables. This is another downside to popping for a table. Saint Rocke does not tell that to you. To be able to see the act, we had to sit on the top of the seat back of and the shelf just above our booth. Based on what we experienced yesterday, with a popular act, be prepared to be packed in to the hilt. It's standing room only in the stage room. Management allows the place to grossly overcrowd. One ought to have one's vaccinations current before going there. The sound sucks and people talked loudly during the performances (which is disrespectful to the artists and fellow attendees). Why go to a show not to listen to the performance? Inexplicably, though speakers are mounted in the "tables room", any sound from them was not perceptible. The men's' room flooded. For us, the parking situation (free/ample) was the only plus. Another poster called the place "intimate". If we attended the same show, we obviously have a different concept of the term. Perhaps that post was made early, before the show started and the situation deteriorated. We had never been there before. We won't be back no matter who plays there. read more

Went for the Dogstar show this week. Not sure if security was extra insane because of the A list celebrity band member or if they're always this Dickish. My friend and I each paid $300 for the VIP package which is more than we've paid for other, more inclusive VIP packages for other bands. There was a brief sound check of about 2 songs and apparently weren't allowed to take any photo or video, understandably that is probably the bands choice not the venue. After there was a group photo the bartender in the venue was offering everyone drinks of champagne or hard seltzer so I gladly accepted. The weird part is when security immediately told us we had to leave the venue. I told him okay we will but I just got the drink she served us and we all heard her say SEVERAL LOUD times that we couldn't take any drinks outside. He started insisting that I finish my drink in front of him and leave. I was actually confused and said, she's still serving us drinks why would she be doing that if we had to leave this second ? And he straight up said, "don't worry about her, I'm telling you to leave." Excuse my whole ass sir, I paid $300 for the VIP experience and all I'm getting is this half cup of cheap champagne I'd like to savor it... Meanwhile there were several groups of people who were not even drinking and hovering who he didn't give a fuck about. It was the weirdest shit I've ever experienced. I feel it's important to note I was not trying to get close to the band or take photos or anything, just drinking my shitty champagne that I was grateful for to start. I've never been confrontational so I struggled to chug my drink then left. The second security guard I had the pleasure of encountering was very reminiscent of Doofy and Farva who wanted to let everyone know how willing he was to choke anybody out that he needed to. I swear he must have said it and acted it out at least 5 times. I tried to block most of him out but couldn't help hear him explain how transgender women were much higher quality in different countries in his opinion and experience (putting it as nicely as I can). He also exclaimed how smart it was to drug peoples drinks with viagra to see who would get an erection so he could avoid sleeping with a man (again, I'm putting it nicely). SUPER comforting quality to have in the security staff. I appreciated how small this venue was and really wanted to enjoy myself unfortunately the staff ruined this experience that I paid a lot of money for. read more

My husband and myself came to see a show a few days ago. We enjoyed ourselves but when I received my tab.... Lordy Lordy someone must have overheard me yelling out the name on the tab and started drinking on my dime?!?! Or I drank a hell of a lot of booze?!?!? Lesson learned, close out after every order! I went Friday night to see the Spazmatics who seem to play here every so often. ALWAYS a fun show, if you like the 80's this is your ticket, so keep an eye out for their next show. As for Saint Rocke, it's dark and has personality, I really like the place. The drinks are fairly priced and they have some good beers on tap. Pro move, call ahead and reserve a table, it will give you a place to congregate and order food. The only prerequisite is that your bill needs to be $100 or more. On this particular Friday night we had Kimmie (spelling?) as our waitress. A cute smile and good service, who could want for more? Kudos to Anna who worked the front door, I also had a chance to chat her up about upcoming acts and her musical preferences, she likes Reggae BTW. I had a great night, thanks Saint Rocke. read more

Last week attended Hollywood U2 show at SR. Fun show , the place was packed. Probably one of the most respectful buzzed crowds I ever seen. Saturday night in summer Hermosa Beach. I went here for an event to see a New Zealand jazz big band. It is a great venue for a smaller show, but we arrived about 15 minutes prior to the show starting and that seemed to be 15 minutes too late because it was full. Fortunately, there was space at the side of the bar, but only had a partial view of the stage. It worked out okay because the sound was great and they did have TVs to view the stage during the show. The customer service was so accommodating, from finding us extra chairs, to cleaning of the sticky floor where I was standing, and making sure we were okay throughout our visit without overdoing it. We had done some pre-eating at another nearby location, so we went light... somewhat. We ordered the ahi cucumber role with a wasabi aoili and fresh ginger. It was refreshing and great, but it is a small portion so if you have a ravenous appetite, order more food. Midway we ordered the S'mores Dip... Oh my... even my friend who is not a fan of s'mores fell in love with it. They use Ghiradelli chocolate, with marshmallows heated from the top, and crispy graham crackers. We both couldn't get over how delicious it tasted and paired really well with a glass of red wine. We did have to ask for more graham crackers as the ratio of chocolate to marshmallow was much greater. The only pet peeve I had was that they allowed the bathroom assistant, at least in the ladies room. As much as I understand that people need to make money its hard for me to want to tip someone when I can put soap on my hands and grab a paper towel all by myself, thank you very much! read more

Not sure what is happening at Saint Rocke. Prior to COVID and their closing probably went there monthly. Went back first time last Sunday and purchased a ticket for Annuhea for $40.00. About 35 minutes into the show the performer called last song and then walked off the stage. I thought pretty short show for hefty admission price and asked the bartender. He referred me to a women who said she was the GM. She told me that refunds would be issued due to the fact that the venue had a plumbing problem that caused the show to be cut short. She gave me her card and told me to email her to work out the refund. I have been emailing this weekend with no response.Bad business in my view. What do u think? Ready to post read more

The 2016 Yelp 500 - Review #182: I have been to this venue twice. both times I encountered the same problems. and they were all based around the size of this venue not being conducive to the size of the crowd that it attracts. I'm not sure if this could even be remedied without gutting the entire building. The layout is completely ridiculous. As far as the menu goes, I took a quick look at it and opted to eat elsewhere. The one thing I did like was that the bar had TVs that showed the concert going on around the corner. As opposed to venues that have a bar that you can actually see the concert going on from the bar stool. I'm not quite sure why I would want to go to a club sit at the bar and watch the band on TV that I came to see you in person. I mean, if I was going to do that, then why don't I just watch YouTube clips. Alcohol injected belligerent people only leave to trouble or someone opting to leave before they should have. The pushing of getting a bit much for my party of sober folks so, we just left probably about a fifth of the way into the main act of the night... Which really sucked since that what we came to see. END GAME: 1. I can't imagine "knowingly" returning here again. It just isn't worth the aggravation. 2. I completely love the concept of this place and the memories that should be pouring out of here. I went to Saint Rocke to see Austin Plaine on 1/17/24. I was way too early so I grabbed a drink to settle in. That is where I first beheld Trevor the bartender. Tall glass of water that one. So much so, that I nearly chugged my stiff old fashioned so I could race back to the bar. "Another one, good sir!" I would've kept chugging them so I could keep coming back, but alas... I'm a lightweight and the first one was already doing a number on me. I still went back to the bar often, but it was more from desperation to balance my blood alcohol levels than for Trevor. I drank so much water that I had to use the restroom twice and then floor it home (averaging 100mph) after the show before my bladder exploded. But enough about that. This was a perfect lil quaint spot for live music and I thoroughly enjoyed my evening and all the artists: Ivy James, Austin Plaine, and Wheel Wright. Went to see Nikka Costa there last night and had a very unforunate experience. My girlfriend and I were close to the front of the stage and when I came back from the restroom, there was an encounter between my girlfriend and one of the concert attendees. I think she didn't like the fact that my girlfriend was taking so many photos and videos, which is understandable, but there is a way to politely ask someone to put the phone away. What I heard was this lady calling my girlfriend a "Slant-Eyed Bitch" and of course there was an escalation afterword. I went and told the staff what happened and what was said, and instead of dealing with the situation, my girlfriend and I were asked to leave the club. Needless to say, I'm very upset about this and about Saint Rocke enabling blatant racism and entitlement. I won't be going back there. read more

I love the atmosphere, I love the music and also the food! I came here for the first time on a wednesday night to listen to my buddy Nick Shattuck open for Mark Ballas from dancing with the stars. The music was awesome and the crowd was great. Towards the end of the show people got to the front of the stage and made their own dance floor. I feel like the set up of the stage and the tables can be better since only 5 tables allow you to actually see the full stage without leaning over pillars. So if you go, make sure to get there early to find good seats! I had their crab cake sliders. $7. THE BEST crab cake sliders ever!! I loved all the different sauces that came with it too!
