Since we're quickly approaching the Summer season, I decided to venture out this past weekend to one of my favorite movie theaters in the region...Penn Cinema in Lititz, PA! They have a beautiful IMAX screen right next door to their regular theater, and while I enjoy seeing movies in the theater, I decided to go big on Saturday night and went straight to the IMAX! Most people complain about movie ticket prices, and *gasp* the prices for popcorn and soda! Gee whiz! I spent a total of $37.00 with tax for the movie ticket, a medium popcorn with butter and a refillable drink! To be honest, I would have paid the same (or more) at a regular theater, but to experience a movie in the IMAX is worth the price alone! I highly recommend this place for great entertainment value! read more

Went here on opening day of a movie because they had reserved seating. Theater lobby and restrooms were clean and looks recently refreshed. Plenty of concession offerings plus craft beers on tap and a bar. Seats were a bit worn but comfortable. Clean theaters, clear surround sound, pleasant and attentive staff and comfy seats that are a bit larger and recline, what else could you ask for in a theater! Love that they have screenings of limited Japanese films like GKids and Ghibli offerings. Saves us from having to go to Virginia and DC to view them and still make it home in time so save on staying in a hotel. We've seen other main stream movies here as well, always enjoying the experience more than other theaters. Been to the regular and IMAX screenings and while the regular movie theater is great, the IMAX was amazing to see Suzume in (a limited anime movie release) Picture and sound were crystal clear and the audience was engaged in the movie. There's a bar near by for food after or just a short drive back out there are 2 shopping plazas, both offering a variety of shopping and food stops worth checking out. Its a little hard to find as its back Airport Rd but look for the Sheetz Gas station off Lititz Pike and turn onto Airport Rd and its on your right, next to the small air field. Overall a great time for a date night or just good time out with friends to see a movie. read more

Nice clean theater. Little out of they way, next to the airport. Friendly folks, our showing was mostly full and there was only the 2 front rows which we were hesitant to take. But the cashier said go in and try it and if we didn't like the seats, he would give us a full refund. Turns out they designed it wisely and the seats were not bad even though we were pretty close to the screen. Guess how they angled the seats a bit and recline back further than usual helped. If were in the area again we would come back to catch a flick. read more

I've been a long time patron of Penn Cinema in Lititz, Pennsylvania. Before seeing a movie I tried their new drinking bar area for the first time. I was very disappointed with having to pay $8 for one glass of diet soda with no refill capabilities. The server also seemed unfriendly and just wanted to take my money. You can get a non-alcoholic drinking beverage with unlimited refills next door from Mick's for under $4. I will stick with that. I can't imagine that I would buy food or drink directly at Penn Cinema anytime soon. read more

We bought our tickets via Flixter ... but never received them, but the ladies at the ticket counter helped us out. Even though we thought we were seeing Top Gun in the IMAX ... they still printed our tickets and pointed us in the right direction. The theater was super spacious ... seats were the best I've ever had at the movies (granted, I've heard stories of similar seating arrangements far from our options in Harrisburg). I Just came out of the 3-D movie. The entire experience was blurry From start to finish. The ads in the beginning as well as the feature film. The two ticket employees were very helpful in getting the manager to assist me. When I expressed my concern to the manager he said I should've come out in the middle of the movie. After spending $20 per ticket, I didn't want to miss the movie. I was very disappointed with the customer service from the manager, not even a simple "I'm so sorry that was your experience." read more

Went for the drive in movie theatre. Cool set up, kinda sucks when people are leaving the original movie theatre because the regular parking lot is facing where everyone sits to watch the drive in movie. But not a big deal because people go fast. $15 for a car is a good price to me and I plan on coming back again. I made the mistake of keeping my car on the entire time because I'm a idiot, but it was raining and I needed the radio and windshield wiper. So I was in the parking lot for about 45 mins after the movie but it was cool because we had a halo and we jumped our car ourselves. I think penn cinema should provide radio or give a option to rent it so people's car don't break down every-time you have the drive in. I had a great time though read more

Checked movie listings on a Saturday for the next day. The movie I wanted to see started at 3:30pm. Fine, I made arrangements with a friend. That morning my friend texts me to inform me that her husband checked the movie times only to find out it started at 2:45pm. I looked it up myself and indeed it did say 2:45pm Ok, coughed it up to maybe I looked at a different movie, my bad...... So we rearranged our plans for the earlier time and arrived at 2:17pm, only to be told the movie doesn't start until 3:30pm. I questioned this as now I saw it myself just hours earlier as starting at 2:45pm.....her response, "yeh that happens online!" Like what the..... She had no explanation nor was apologetic and claims it happens ALL THE TIME! Fortunately Mick's (a pub/restaurant) is in the same complex where we went to kill time. I bet this was strategic thinking on their part to pick this location since the movie times aren't accurate! I doubt anyone turns around and goes home.... But my friend and I would have preferred the extra time at home as we had to squeeze in just making time to get there that day. Plus now we had to spend extra money and order something. We both had ate at home so now we had to spend money just to sit at Mick's. We both had preferred later in the afternoon but still matinee pricing and this was our only option at this theater. Had we known that their times online aren't accurate we would have looked at other theaters. The positive; you pick your seats, they recline and are oversized. The downfall, some patrons get a little too comfortable. The lady beside us had her shoes off and feet propped up inches from my friend's seat, nasty. Matinee pricing is $10.50, I know it's been awhile but it doesn't make much sense to go to the movies anymore when it could easily cost you $50 for two with food and drinks. This theater company should be ashamed of itself for its horrific attempt at "accessibility." Anyone who has poor mobility, can't walk up stairs or needs a wheelchair must sit in the FRONT ROW. No other options whatsoever. It's like their approach to accessibility is "give the cripples the worst seats in the house - who cares about them?" I brought this up to staff, including a disabled member of the staff, and while they were very nice and understanding, their "excuse" was: "Well, not all of our theaters are like that, just the smaller ones." Ummm... how is that better? I have seen three movies there, and every time I've been in the small theaters with front row-only seating. I'm not going to see a movie I don't want to see just because it's more comfortable and accessible. I have mentioned this to staff over the course of at least five years, and nothing has changed. Also, one time, the theater was pretty packed and there were able-bodied people sitting in the disabled seats. They refused to move for an obviously-disabled person, and when we asked the staff if they could intervene, they would not. So we missed our movie in IMAX and has to watch the 2D version an hour later in a different building, where we had the EXACT same problem. Again, the people refused to move, and the staff wouldn't ask them to move... so we couldn't sit together. Please do better! If anything, make ramps in the smaller theaters so that disabled people have the option to at least sit a few rows back. read more

I've been going to Penn Cinema for years, and was disappointed by the Christian merchandising that they are now doing. I know it's Lititz and like 99% of people wouldn't be offended by that, but I was. It seems quite unnecessary to push religion in a regular movie theater. Additionally, The seats are now worn down and the leather is broken all over them. Eeeek... I'll probably stick to theatres near the city instead in the future. read more

Nice movie theater. Me and my kids saw If I Could Imagine on Saturday night. The theater was clean and had a small lobby with concession stand. Our theater was #3. It had comfortable leather reclining seats. The screen was huge and, even though we had to sit two rows from the front, we had a really good view. We would definitely come back if we were in the area. read more

One of our favorite Cinemas! Clean, wide range of current and classic films usually running. They run child films in the mornings over the summer - opera and special showings. IMAX, 3D, they have it covered. They cover the usual movie going snacks, popcorn...but also have a Restaurant on premises for your more serious appetite needs. Great place, interesting events- definitely 5 star worthy! read more

Mega-movie-cine-uber-plex. This is the Wal Mart of movie theatres. Bigger, better, more out of your way... but wow what an experience (yawn). If you're ready to plop down $40 for 2 people to see a movie with a small bit of snacks, this is your place. Hollywood sucks the soul from me. I've been here twice, and both times had an EH experience. I'm much a fan of the smaller intimate cinema theatres, but I don't know if any in Lancaster area. I almost feel dirty coming here. I still say, make the trip to Midtown Cinema in Harrisburg. You'll see where your money is going, and you'll have some left over after tickets and snacks. (Even MoviE-Town in Elizabethtown is a better experience). read more

Nice theater. Only complaint is everytime I have went I get the pretzel nuggets. They are never fresh. If you request fresh ones the servers act like it is a crime. They need to time them if not sold in 15 minutes to a half hour, dispose of them. Or make them fresh when ordered. read more

Penn Cinema is an excellent theater! It's a clean environment with a great overall experience. There's a nice restaurant connected to the theater for convenience. The recliners in certain show rooms are awesome and provides a relaxing view of whatever film you're there to see. The restrooms are clean as well. You'd be pretty hard pressed to find a better viewing experience than Penn Cinema. read more

Our first experience here. 3.5 stars The theater it's self was very clean and the seats were comfortable! Way better than regal cinema! 3.5 stars bc the food service counter experience was horrible! I got in line 15 minutes before our movie started. I felt like our cashier was super slow and he kept went to get my popcorn and didn't come back for minutes! The other cashier went to find him and said dude you have a line. He said sorry I was restocking the carriers and hot dogs! Wtheck!!! !!! I'd suggest one line and the next in line going to the next available cashier. I kept seeing people who were in other lines completing their transactions and heading back to the movie! People in my line were irritated! The soda machine area was gross; soda all over the floor and spare lids everywhere. Every machine was out of coke! The restrooms were clean! My wife and I live about an hour away from Penn Cinema. We purchased tickets for a showing of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (at 2 pm) and for IT (at 7 pm) for Sun Sep 10th. We purchased tickets on Sept 1st. The reason we chose Penn Cinema and the hour drive is because we prefer theaters that let us buy tickets a head of time for a specific seat and ever more so if they have recliner seats. We hate the front row and hate waiting in line to get a good seat. Penn Cinema was only of the few theaters that were playing Wrath of Khan in our area and we spent the time in between having dinner. When we went to scan the Fandango QR code (this was around 1:50 pm) for Wrath of Khan there was an issue. No ticket printed. After about 10 minutes of 3 or 4 people trying to scan the same thing they said there must have been some weird issues but we were good. We went into he theater they told us it was in and we discovered that the seats were not right. As we walked out there was a girl with new seat info. And guess what we were stuck with? Neck bending font seats. (Why do theses still exist?) They said the changed the theater because they needed it to be bigger then the original theater. Well that's fine but how did the seats get that mixed up? After a conversation with a manager they got us two seats all the way in the back. This is better then the front but again not what we purchased. By this time we had missed the first 15-20 minutes of the screening. They gave us passes for another movie, I'll give them credit for that but again we an hour away and the seats are assigned when you buy the tickets. The passes will only work in theater so we take a risk of getting whatever seat is available when we get there. Everything went fine at 7 pm for IT. There are things I do like about the theater: the assigned seats I can get ahead of time, the recliners, the screens were were good and so was the sound. Theater was clean and I'm a huge pinball fan and they had 3 machines in a little arcade in here. read more

This may be the best IMAX theater I've ever been too. The picture is perfectly calibrated, the audio is also perfect. It's a very large IMAX, so it has a much larger screen than what you'd see in a converted Regal theater. As far as movie theaters in the Lancaster area go, this is for sure as good as it gets. Pros: Stadium seating (with very comfortable, full back seats) Clean Large selection of movies (regular 2D, 3D, Imax) Friendly employees Locally, independently owned Reasonably priced matinees (evenings get expensive, but that's the way movie theaters are these days) Lots of parking Observation: Concessions seem very expensive. I've never bought them here (I really don't buy snacks at movies ever, just on principle), so I can't really speak to the quality of them. I can't put it in the cons because it doesn't affect my theater experience. Cons: Other than the concessions (as kind of a neutral for me anyway), I can't really think of any. Penn Cinema is one of the few theaters in the area that is independently owned. I find the theater clean and professional. The food is what you would expect, nothing special there. What's wonderful about Penn Cinema, is you can tell that the people behind the theater care about movies. They have Monday Night movies, where they play older movies, which is awesome. I've not had a bad experience at this theater. The new Imax building is near, but laid out a little weird. I find the Imax theater seats to be comfortable stadium seating, but it wasn't as encompasing as other Imax theaters I have been too. read more

I remember back in the day when the movie theatres were downtown, yes, I'm dating myself, but I knew no other, then Manor was the "it" place for the movies. Across town we would go, but even though Penn Cinema is across town the opposite direction, I find getting to it is less stressful, it's not surrounded by all the other businesses, so there is plenty of parking. Let's face it, going to the movies nowadays can get pricey, that's why it's considered a date night for us. The seats are comfortable, I've always arrived when the lights are dimmed, so I can't comment on how clean the place is, but it's not a bad place to catch a movie. It's ok. It's a stadium seating theater in kind of the middle of nowhere, Lititz. They get three stars as I had one or two things that bugged me when I visited recently. I got a large popcorn that was about half full of broken popcorn crumbs. Thanks a lot for that, pimple faced kid working the register. The lobby is a smidge confused/crowded with the lines for the concession getting in the way of the lines for the ticket takers. All that and there was a huge wad of gum stuck on my seat...yuck. I didn't visit the Imax, but as I understand it the Imax theater is actually not connected to the regular theater, you have to walk through a different door, essential a different theater. Odd. Anyway, it is a nice theater and if/when I go back I'll upgrade the rating assuming I have a better experience. read more

Came to this location due to the convenience from my house. We came with a party of 5 to see Lion King. With anticipating such a high grossing film, there was not a lot of food ready. We ordered 3 hotdogs, 2 popcorns, candy, and 2 drinks... we did order pretzels with cheese but had to bring them back to get a fresher one. The original dish they gave us was crispy, hard, and clearly just sitting on the warmer. Part of supervision means checking for fresh food, and ensuring it is ready to go for a big film. When I got to my seat, there was 2 seats that had chocolate smeared on them, but we wiped it off with antibacterial wipes. Other than that, I like this this theater, and never have issues with it. The employees seem like they are just checking the block, and not really excited or motivated to be there. read more
