My husband got the chicken teriyaki sub with grilled peppers but it too could have had more meat. Plus, $15.99 for a sub sandwich is high. Ordered the club sandwich; specifically told the man no mayonnaise and vinegar and oil. Also ordered American cheese instead of Swiss. It was not grilled as was ordered, sandwich was floating in mayo. Hubby paid extra for extra tomatoes and extra bacon on his BLT; when we arrived home, there were a couple tomatoes, it wasn't grilled as ordered. Just terrible. Ordered the classic cheesesteak that appeared to missing 1/2 the steak, cheese wasn't melted and tasted awful. Line was too long to complain for a refund. This Penn station has always been the worst. The People have a bad attitude and it is usually filthy. In the past when I choose here I would get it to go. It looks like they remodeled. I'm conflicted on this place. Good food, but it could be better, and I don't think this was a good value. By that, I mean, was the overall experience worth what I spent? The good: The young man who greeted us was very friendly, personable, and helpful. This guy is going places in life. The bread was fresh and chewy. The sandwiches were very good; albeit a little lacking in meat. The bad: The picture of the sandwich I ordered (conspicuously displayed right next to my seat - bad idea!) was overflowing with meat. Mine was not. Nor was my wife's. She surmised that possibly, since we each agreed to peppers, mushrooms, and olives, that they made room on the sandwich by removing some of the meat. I'm guessing that on our almost $7 sandwiches, there may have been 2 oz. of meat. The neurtral - The fresh cut fries were tasty but they were more akin to fried potatoes (made from leftover bakers) than normal fries. They had a slight overcooked taste which I didn't mind but some people may find off-putting. My mom and I went to Penn Station yesterday for lunch and decided to dine in. All the staff wore masks and the lobby was clean. The employees greater us and we're very pleasant. I ordered the club with no lettuce and tomato and my mom ordered the BLT. Both had fries. I asked for them to be extra crispy. They brought our food out right away but the fries were very salty. The girl had no problem making fresh crispy fries for us. The sandwiches were perfect. One of the staff was cleaning and asked if we liked the lemon smell. It was good. Lol, it was great that they kept the tables and the handrails clean. Their restroom was open to the public and was also clean. When I got home I noticed on my receipt that I was charged for two extra drinks. Ordered three sandwiches. First sandwich, we went back and got it replaced. Should have checked the others. Got home, realized both other sandwiches were wrong too... one with mayo on a chicken teriyaki sandwich. Ew. I called to let them know that someone may need to be retrained on taking orders. I get passed to the GM (not who we ordered from) who tells me that my boyfriend didn't order them right. I tell him that I ordered, and he tries telling me I ordered them wrong. Nobody in their right mind would ask for mayo and teriyaki together. Lol No matter, he was extremely rude and continued acting like I ordered the sandwiches incorrectly. If I wanted to come back, he's going to need me to "repeat the order as I actually want it because it isn't what I said the first time." I recognize restaurant workers are exhausted - as many of us are - but there is no reason to treat a paying customer like that. i go for the 8" veggie. it is so good good and flavorful that the absence of meat is not noticed. the toppings are so copious that it is difficult to close the bread. i eat this sandwich and every bite is savoured. i eliminated the teriyaki because of the crazy high sodium content. my only gripe is that they use white bread instead of something that has nutrition out of logistical necessity. but that veggie sandwich is so good. it puts subways version to shame. in the strip mall sadness that is collinsville crossing this offering is a sane, healthy, delicious alternative. read more
