I've taken my dog, Paco, here a few times for grooming & I've always been impressed with this place. Penngrove Pets is accommodating and welcoming and they do good work! This morning I called to have his nails trimmed and they told me to just stop by. I expected I would have to wait because it can get very busy there. They took him right away, even though there were two other dogs there. Paco was shaking and very nervous & it took 2 people but they got the job done, in about 5 minutes. Whenever I've dropped him off for a full grooming, they usually only keep him for no more than an hour. Other places I've been tell me to come back in 3 hours. We're lucky to have a good grooming place in Penngrove--convenient for people who live in Petaluma, Cotati and in the surrounding area. read more

Toni is the best. She makes me feel comfortable leaving my precious hairy child with her. Carson is very wiggly, doesn't like being groomed, and if he could he'd kiss you all day. I think this makes him very challenging to groom, but despite that, every time I pick him up from being with Toni, he's relaxed, happy, and great looking. My previous groomers didn't seem to like Carson because he's "not a purebred" to which I say " Your mom's face" like the adult that I am. When I'd drop him off with them, he'd start whining and shaking, and when I'd pick him up, he'd be clingy and anxious. Not so with Toni! She treats him with love and care, and I appreciate it. Their location is easily accessible, I believe her prices are very reasonable, given that her product is amazing, and I'd pay a lot more than I was paying at other groomers for the peace of mind leaving one of my most treasured parts of my life with someone I trust. :) read more

They were awesome! Very friendly. Our pit bull mix was very frightened to have his nails done for the first time. Both girls were very nice to him and tried their best to clam him. The other dogs there to be groomed were regulars and seemed happy to be there. The whole place had that pleasant small town vibe. And walk-ins were welcome! Usually I have to make an appointment for a quick nail trim. This is definitely Dex's permanent nail/ grooming spot. read more

Very friendly and quick service! Took my mom's dog there and told them her hair needed to be super short. My mom had cut her hair above her eyes and at first she said she wouldn't be able to blend in the cutting and she actually was able to and the little 3 pound Yorkie looks great! Since living in the North Bay for a year we've finally found a groomer we love for our toy pomeranian. My husband and I gave up on trying to trim our little Hanzo's nails. He's just too dramatic and I'm sure our neighbors probably think we're torturing him with all the squealing and yelping he makes. We've taken him to a couple of other places for his grooming but he ended up coming home with nicks and fleas. Penngrove Pets Grooming did an awesome job! No nicks. No fleas. Hanzo was fine after his bathe and trim and seemed to enjoy himself as much as any dog would. His cut looked very nice on him as well! I wish I had gotten the name of who did his cut but I'm assuming it was Toni. She was so nice, friendly, and really knew what she was doing. Great customer (human AND pet) service! The location was initially a little hard to find since I'm not very familiar with the area. It's in the same building as the feed store which is down a driveway. There's a sign on the left side of the road right before a motorcycle shop. That's where you turn in. The parking is decent as well. The pricing is very reasonable. My interaction with this place was so bizarre. When scheduling she was super friendly, the pics on here were exactly what I was looking for my pups first grooming experience. When I walked in she noticed my dog was nervous so she let me know to keep my phone on hand in case she couldn't groom her. She called me like 3 minutes after I had left saying she couldn't do it and my dog was too nervous. Understood. When it got bizarre and weird was when I went to go pick up my dog, she said "I suggest you get her a trainer in case you need to surrender her" I was so shocked. Just because my dog was a little scared meant I needed to surrender her?! I then replied and said "absolutely not, never" she then responded with "Well your parents might get sick, you never know" WTH. The fact she said this was so insulting. The audacity! I love my dog - this is for life. For her being in the business of knowing full well how much people love their dogs and saying this? So disrespectful. I don't know if she was projecting but there are tons of other better options and I will never book here again. read more

I am mainly giving five stars for the wonderful personalities at this place! I feel completely comfortable leaving my precious cockapoo with these groomers. I've been to quite a few different dog groomers and although this one doesn't necessarily give the most even cuts (there is always a couple patches of long hair), they are the most thorough as far as plucking the hair from his ears and really listening to the style that I want. I have a beautiful boy "Riley" ~Llasa Apso~ 7 yrs old. I moved from Marin County (San Rafael) to Petaluma 7 months ago. Riley had gone to his groomer in Marin since he was just weeks old, they really liked each other a lot. I was so concerned about finding my boy, absolutely the most comforting place for him while being groomed and for his cut to be just like his previous groomer. I kept driving him down to Marin every 4 weeks (pain) and then a very dear family friend referred me to Toni and told me she has been extremely happy bringing her 3 Golden Retrievers. We Love Toni. I rescued a small Llasa Apso mix, Raji, and Toni groomed him once and did a good job even though he had had a bad experience being sheared in the shelter and was too afraid of the electric shears. But the next time, my little dog seemed to know this was ok, and Toni did so well and was able to use any equipment and Raji looked really great and ready to enjoy the admiration! First time trying Penngrove pet groomer made an appointment brought my dog in and when I picked him up I was told he was difficult and bit the person grooming him also he was not welcome back. Well my Westie is a loving pet and loves and looks forward to meeting friends as well as strangers never has he snapped at or bit anyone. As you can imagine I was shocked at this I have used The Petaluma Pet groomer Pam for 35 years with seven dogs and absolutely satisfied she has now retired. I have now used Tatianas grooming in Petaluma and was so satisfied she takes time to get to know the pet and has an open socialization. A groomer must understand that a dog is stressed in a new environment and you must give them a chance to get comfortable not force them into your schedule and make them even more stressed. read more

BUT there hasn't been a time that she has come home without a mishap i.e. hair on one ear longer than the other, hair under chin longer on one side than the other. We've now been going to Toni for about 3 years and she really is amazing. It's at the point where if I ever move and have to go to someone else I'm going to panic. Of ALL the people who have handled my dog - vets, groomers, etc - she's absolutely the nicest and most patient. She interacts with the dog and really does know a lot about animals. Always very attentive and accommodating. We have a pretty easy going dog anyway, but at other groomers, he will start to whine in the car when we're about a block away and is sometimes a little wound up. Not so with this place. After trying a number of groomers, we were more than delighted to find Penngrove Grooming. My little ShihTzu mix was elderly & not in good health. Both the owner of the business and Jessica, the groomer treated him with utmost care and patience. Even when we went for a shorter clip, because the maintenance of keeping up with his long coat was challenging, he still looked adorable in the shorter clip Jessica gave him. I've been bringing both of my dogs to Toni since she opened her business. I am very protective of my two rescues with special needs and I could not have more confidence in Penngrove Pets after years of being a satisfied customer. My only dissatisfaction (not worth losing a star over) is how hard it is to get an appointment if not booked far in advance. But hey, if I called my hairstylist and wanted her services within a couple of days, it is unlikely that would happen. What I do now is book my next appointment when I bring my dogs in. We sure are lucky to have Toni so close by! I live in Rohnert Park and used to travel the distance to her old location to have her groom my 20 lb ragdoll (cat). Toni is gentle, professional, affordable and fast. You wouldn't think taking a cat to the groomers would make it happy, but mine is always content after the extra attention and seemingly relieved by her new cleanliness and the elimination of painful mats. It feels good when you know you're taking good care of your animals. And it is really nice to have a groomer who is knowledgeable and caring! I know Toni knows all the fancy breed cuts, but she also does an amazing job with animals who have special coats that require extra maintenance work. If you have a longhaired cat or dog like I do, a couple minutes out of your day will make you and your animal feel better for weeks! read more

Love this place! They always do the BEST job bathing my little fuzzy dude ... he comes back soft & smelling good but MOST importantly actually clean. I have 2 Havanese that I took here for grooming and I would suggest NO ONE subject their pets to this place. My dogs are 10 and 4 and never in their life have they had fleas or any skin problems. As for the grooming, our dogs nails looked like they had not been touched and the haircuts were so crooked with highs and lows everywhere. They looked better before their grooming! In addition, we noticed a couple of places on our 4 yr old where he had abrasions on his skin. Within a couple of days, both dogs were going crazy with fleas and another came down with ringworm! We have had to treat the dogs for these infestations which like I said, they have never had. We use diatomaceous earth in the dogs beds which has always kept them free of fleas but they were so badly covered in fleas that we had to treat them with other products. This was the worst grooming experience we have EVER had with a dog groomer. read more
