Ambiance is great, sits on the river. Beautiful view. Our server was pleasant, seemed overworked had to ask several times to get what you requested. My mussels sounded delicious on the menu, but were served in a thick sauce instead of a thin broth, nice flavor though. My friend had a piece of prime rib that was like shoe leather, should not have been served!,,the French fries and blue cheese dressing are delicious!

    Lazy day view.

Good, Service and Ambience- five stars all around. Shout out to Tiffany, an excellent server who handled the whole deck - 6 parties, on her own without skipping a beat. The food was so good and plentiful. Great fries. The view of the River is calming. Check them out.

    Lovely Holiday Mantel decor!

We had an enjoyable date night at Penn's Tavern. They have a nice assortment of cocktails. The Margarita was average. I ordered the Parmesan crusted chicken. It was delicious. I would order it without the cream sauce next time as it was a bit much. Our waitress was attentive and helpful. The Christmas decor was beautiful. We will definitely be back.

If you are passing through or in the area this is an absolute must stop for a meal! Penn's Tavern sits on the edge of the Susquehanna River and offers dining inside the historic 1700's dining room, microbrew pub or outside dining on the beautiful deck. Watch as kayakers and tubers pass by. The food is amazing and service was wonderful. I absolutely recommend this restaurant.

Historic old tavern dating back to 1703. Came last Saturday with friends before 5pm. The restaurant was empty. We asked for a table in the back patio. The woman seating people informed us we needed a reservation. She was on a power trip. We looked out back and there were plenty of tables. We asked another woman at the desk and said we would be quick to eat and drink. She said no she was bitchy and high on her "position" THERE WERE AT LEAST SIX TABLES AVAILABLE ON THE PATIO. This is not hospitable or welcoming. Women seating people need to be fired. Who turns people away like that? You are turning money away. Then I kid you not, what looked like possibly a male manager or someone from the back came out holding a phone that was ringing incessantly, asking the girls working there, who wanted to take the phone call while they all said, not me not me laughing all the while the phone was ringing. Good luck getting a reservation with those employees! Drinks were good. Crab cake sandwich tasted like a can and wasn't good at all. Spinach dip was excellent and flavourful. Fish reuben was just ok. The building and setting are the best part. We walked to the back to check out the river. THE PATIO WAS FULL OF EMPTY TABLES. You can be "friendly" but those women seating people need lessons in how to be hospitable.

Absolutely amazing! A quant and rustic building off the side of the road along the Susquehanna River. Almost could miss it from the drive, but something you definitely must not miss! Loved the decor of this 1700s building, the history of the building and then there's the amazing staff and unbelievable food! Must try the beer cheese fries app, and then get anything else...the 6 of us stopped for a unreserved lunch and all had something different, and no one had any complaints! Minorcan Mike's Chicken - phenomenal, the Surf & Turf burger kept my son quiet for about 5 mins as he barely stopped eating to take a breath, the shrimp tacos had nice serving of shrimp and was delicious, the Prime Rib Press was to die for, the Cuban was spot on. All came with local grown potatoes cut for everyone's fries. Cannot beat them! Then the staff, we were quickly greeted and seated in an area of our choice. Drinks immediately and food there after. Very refreshing to have this great of an experience for a 1st time stop...and we will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu!

The best steak steak ever! For dinner you have to try " the cowboy" if you're a steak lover. My favorite appetizer is the hog wings. Pictured here. Great atmosphere great service, good people, excellent food.

Ask the Community - Penn's Tavern

We haven't eaten at Penn's Tavern since the late 1990's. We have moved from the area and are now 2 hours away and wonder if it is still worth the drive for a meal on a Sunday afternoon?…

This is the first time that I was ever at Penn's Tavern. I was told that the ownership is new, so I imagine things have changed. I heard that it was a pub with german food. I would describe it now as a gastro pub serving big gourmet burgers…

When the waitress finally arrived, she mentioned she was the only one working and implied that the slow service would continue throughout the evening. Thankfully, my husband quickly looked up another local spot, and that's when we found Captain Krab Cajun Seafood & Boil--what a blessing! Not only did we enjoy incredible food and exceptional service, but both the server and the owner went above and beyond to make our daughter's birthday truly special. We were treated to fresh, delicious seafood, a sparkler candle dessert, a plush gift for the birthday girl, and even a light-up birthday sign! We felt like part of their family. We ordered oysters, clam chowder, boiled eggs, baby clams, and snow crab legs--everything was perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. You can even customize your meal by choosing from four different seasonings and five levels of spiciness, which makes it ideal for families or groups with mixed tastes. One of the most fun parts? You can write on the walls, tables, and even the ceiling! They also have a claw machine for the kids (and kids at heart). We'll absolutely be back next time we're in town! P.S. It's BYOB!

This is a small easily missed restaurant just on the edge of the strip in Selinsgrove. We arrived…read moreand were greeted and could sit were we wanted. There are only maybe a dozen tables here so while it was not busy when we arrived, each table was occupied by the time we left. It was very clean and warm. Music was not to loud which is a plus for a smaller dinning room. The complimentary chips and salsa were delicious. Salsa was spot on. We had the nachos for the appetizer, and the smothered. Burrito and birra burrito for our meals. The nachos were delicious, and in my opinion were a stand out against nachos ordered elsewhere. They were just stacked high and condiments dumped on top. The cheese and sauces were layed out and almost all the chips had been covered. They were delicious and very fresh, nothing was globbed on, it was well dispersed. Only down side was the jalapeño on the dish- there were alot of seeds making some areas very very very hot. That might be a plus for others. The smothered burrito was much bigger then expected and well made. Sauces on top and garnice on the side put the flavors together well. The Birra burrito was one of the best I had. Meat was delicious without being a drippy mess, the cheese again was a good portion to complment the meat without over powering the dish. I will say the only down side to this place is it is small, so it was very busy by the time we left. We got out To go box, and then the waitress took nearly 20 minutes to get us the check. Again I understand they are small business and got busy but if you do eat here be understanding that it might take longer due to this.
