In 2024, on a trip to England and Scotland which included a seven-day Outlander tour, there was a surprise proposal on the steps of Midhope Castle, known by Outlander fans as "Lallybroch". We also had a planned special Celtic Handfasting Commitment Ceremony in the Highlands. We then began thinking about a uniquely us wedding which would be just as magical. Last year, we booked bucket list trip #2, a 2026 cruise of the Hawaiian Islands with our best friends. We did some searching to see if a Maui wedding would be possible while in port there. We found Aloha Maui Dream Weddings, and our dream wedding came to be. Darci was amazing. She handled everything and all we had to do was show up. First step for us was to fill out a detailed questionnaire so she got to know who we were, and it was truly planned just for us. She handled all the details, quickly answered any questions we had through email or text, reassured us all would be fine when threats of storms were in the news. She found the perfect location at Makena Cove Beach for our ceremony and was there with us on our special day. Reverend Kuya performed our beautiful ceremony. It truly felt like he knew us. We also did a memorial lei toss in memory of my parents and all our grandparents which meant so much to us. Penny (Penny Palmer Photography) captured the beauty of the beach, our emotions of excitement, love, happy tears and even a few laughs during the ceremony and our first pictures as Newlyweds on beautiful Makena Cove Beach. So hard to choose our favorite photos, we purchased the whole gallery. It was truly a magical wedding which we will never forget. Finding a solid business to officiate an LGBT wedding was a little difficult. For the people that advertised, most offered similar packages and photography was ad hoc for an additional considerate amount of money - rightfully so as wedding photography is such a niche skill set. My now wife and I eloped, so we needed to be super stealthy. Darci, of Aloha Maui Dream Weddings, and Penny even went the length of picking us up from where we were staying in effort to get us safely and surely to our designated wedding location; which, by the way, was beautiful. We held our wedding early enough so the beach was relatively secluded. That was extra special. We also caught a little of that Maui mist, which, depending on your connection to nature - was an additional blessing. Anyway, our ceremony was absolutely beautiful. The words Darci spoke and the energy/vibe that she and Penny provided was exactly what we needed and wanted for our day. It was an unforgettable day - all for the most pleasurable reasons. Our photography package included a dedicated hour of shooting and we were provided with an extensive set of photos to choose from. You can't go wrong with the ocean and Molokai as a back drop. Again, memories captured to last. Our photos were delivered in a timely fashion and caught our special moments. Penny even asked us if we'd like to capture a specific pose/or shot. We liked being included in the creative direction. We were extremely happy with the wedding services provided by Darci and photography by Penny. Neither my fiancé or I had ever been to Maui, but knew we wanted to be married on the beach there. Darci took time to answer all of our questions and made us feel comfortable all through the process. We kept in contact by both email and telephone. Darci made sure everything went smoothly for us. Penny is an amazing photographer! The pictures she took of our wedding couldn't have been any better. She is so professional and knowledgeable about her craft. Penny is simply amazing at what she does! She took two people who generally aren't comfortable in front of the camera and captured moments that my friends said should be on the cover of a bridal magazine! She is professional, reassuring and SO easy to work with. She and her partner, Darci, even had a beach ball for our toddler which helped him acclimate to his first beach visit and made for some wonderful photos of our family playing on the beach in our wedding attire! Originally we wanted a morning wedding, when the water is that beautiful blue color. I cannot get over how beautiful my pictures turned out! I booked Penny for getting ready, wedding, and another trash the dress photo shoot. She was so fun to work with, she had us laughing the whole time! She really knows the best way to pose you to get a more flattering angle.
