This was our second visit--our first was dine-in, and everyone was so friendly. Today we ordered burgers, fries, and some yummy root beer, and the food was just as good as we remembered. I even told my husband that every time we come into town, we should stop here because the food is that good. The reason for my lower rating is the service. I waited in the car, but my husband told me that Tiffany was very unfriendly when he picked up the order. He felt like he was inconveniencing her just by being a customer, which really takes away from the experience. People in customer service should be at least welcoming, and that was missing today. This establishment knows the ADA laws for service dogs, and that speaks highly of them. Pros: Walking in, it's almost always a pick your table and seat yourself. It's been almost empty every time I go, which I don't mind. The service has always been top notch and very quick. Husband and I ordered the garlic parmesean wings, which I don't know what what they do to them, but always crispy on the outside and cooked perfectly on the inside. We get them every time we go for this reason. I would go just for the wings. The pizzas are great as well and you can't go wrong with any you choose. So far we've had the taco and slopper. Both highly recommend. Our goal is to try every pizza since we can hardly choose just one. Cons: There has to be a con? Not here. We've never had a bad experience and we don't expect to either. Staff is always friendly and welcoming and great food, you really can't find a fault here. Recommended? Absolutely if you want a small family owned pizza and bar. We've gone a couple of times to this place and we're not gonna go back. On Sunday the service was horrible. 15 minutes to get waited on another 15 minutes to get to drinks another 15 minutes to order appetizers and another 30 minutes to get half your order. The waitress said the pizza came out of the oven and fell apart and they have to remake it when they remade the pizza they burnt it, and it was not edible. We asked to speak to the manager and it was obvious he was too busy to speak to us so we paid our $70 bill and left. It's disappointing because Penrose doesn't have many places to eat and I thought that this place would be a great addition to our small town. Very disappointed. read more

Pizza is amazing. Highly recommend the chicken bacon artichoke. Cons: charging $3 for a fountain soda is crazy with no free refills. The coke was flat and she wouldn't switch the coke to a dr. Pepper. She said she would have to charge me. FOR SWITCHING FROM A FLAT COKE TO ANOTHER FOUNTAIN SODA. I'd understand if they were canned sodas but I've never ever had to pay for a refill. This is a fantastic addition to the Penrose/Florence/Canon area. We stopped in for lunch and got a couple draft beers and a large (16") pepperoni pizza. I absolutely loved the crust. The pizza is fantastic. And I eat a ton of pizza! A traditional wood fired pizza without burns on it is rare these days. Unfortunately the service left us baffled. No coasters for our drinks and the table was dirty. Then the waitress was Slow, Inattentive and made us feel like we were bothering her lol. Seriously it took 15 min for our waitress to take our drink order and another 20 for her to bring it out. The pizza took another 20 after that. I really want this place to make it and be what it can be...a great pizza joint in a town that really has very little to offer. Out of 4 visits, 2 have been absolutely horrible. And it's been the service that really sucked. Tonight, the little young lady with glasses and a baseball cap was in a word...rude. She thought she was being nice. But she really wasn't. We were told that when we order food, they will take it over to the cider place next door. I had just seen a guy bring a pizza in to another table in the cider tasting room. She told me "we don't do that anymore". After I said I'd come back to pick up my order and she said 20-25 minutes, she said "I can bring it over." Knowing she was a little busy, I went back in 25. She saw me and said "I didn't forget" or something like that. I said okay. Went back to cider room, waited another 10 minutes. Went back to check on our order, she again said "I haven't forgotten." This time with a little more attitude. But order wasn't ready. Went back to cider place for another 10 minutes. Went back a third time to check on order she had something else to say, but pulled out our pizza...from the warmer...where it had been for at least 10 minutes. She handed me the two salads I ordered, I took them over to the cider place, opened them...no dressing. I took one back, and after I told her there was no dressing, with attitude she says that's because we dress them. I opened the box and showed her...no dressing. As I stand there and wait for her to get my dressing, she takes out two pizzas to a table leaving me standing there waiting. Then she has to pour a meager pathetic amount of dressing for one salad and then ask the kitchen to pour her another kind of dressing for the second salad. Who TF dresses a to go salad? No one does that. And one of the first things she said to me was. "I don't need to write your order down, I've been doing this for 15 years." She is seriously no older than 25. Do better. If you're going to take pizza next door for one party, you need to be prepared to take something else over there too. And don't tell your staff that you're not delivering next door. Your pizza is indeed great. But your staff isn't. Do better. read more

We had a party of 18, called in advance, and when we arrived, the tables weren't ready. The poor waiter was all alone. It took 10 minutes to get water, then another 10 minutes to get a drink order. Then we ordered, the food was extremely high priced for Penrose, some food came, but most took a long time, our kids wanted cheese pizza, but since it didn't come with the other food, they had to eat ours, then the cheese pizza came after we were all finished eating. Like I said before, the prices are outrageous. Paying for each item on a pizza is ridiculous. Cheese and sa uce customary comes on a pizza, not charged separately. Sunday night was the first time I went into Penrose pizzeria. We were coming back from a motorcycle ride. The pizza is really good. The crust is exceptional. It's probably some of the best of ever had. If there was anything that needed improvement would be more toppings on the pizza and it would be a perfect. Our server did a really good job. Took a nice Sunday drive from the Springs and arrived 7pm on a Sunday. Literally only 4 people in the entire restaurant sitting at the bar. Server immediately greeted us and sat us at a bartop and showed us the drink menu. Said she'd be right back. I waived my hand at her as she walked past us the 5th time. 5 minutes later somebody else came of to take our drink order. Pizza came out in a timely manner, but was way more bready and than the pics. Flavors are good. But you're just paying for bread. And poor service. She apologized at the end for the wait because they were short staffed. I've worked in restaurants most of my life and am fully aware of when front of house is checked out and doesn't care. Heard a buzz from colleagues about wanting to try this place. Been waiting for awhile to try it. Pics look great. But it's not the pizza I got. Probably won't make the drive to go back. Note: I will update in 2 weeks whether the business has responded. Open to amending my review if so. Every business has off days. But if they're dedicated to customer satisfaction, they'll address feedback. We got a medium Mediterranean Pizza and Cesar Salad. The pizza crust was delicious, light and the perfect texture. The flavors melded together perfectly. We ate leftover cold slices for breakfast the next day and it was still delicious! Cesar Salad was huge. They have a pizza I'm dying to try, Spice Grylz. The waiter warned us saying it is extremely hot and many people who swear by loving hot stuff can't eat it. Since I was with my hubs who isn't a fan of hot foods, I decided to wait.
