I'd think twice if you value your time. I called the location and was told they could resurface my brake rotors and that it would take about 90 mins. A half hour later, I showed up, dropped off my rotors and was told they needed to measure my rotor thickness to make sure they're serviceable. That takes a couple mins with a micrometer. I was told to expect a phone call in the next 20-30 mins. 90 mins later, I called and nobody has had a chance to look at them yet, but the tech was going to look right now and to expect a call back in 5 mins. An hour later, I showed up and the guy at the counter said they were serviceable but nobody has started in them yet. I collected my parts, went next door to the parts store and got new rotors. I gave them half the day and couldn't wait any longer because I had things to do. I definitely won't be back. read more

I have used Optima 75 batteries in my cars for years (RX7 and C5 Z06). With the advent of COVID my battery exhibited symptoms of acid stratification, which I fixed by keeping one battery on the bench, which I shook as I walked past it. This generally let me have a functional battery around. But this is a Pep Boys review... I could not get one of my batteries to charge past 6 volts, so I took it down to the Juan Tabo store for exchange. They wanted to attempt to revive it, which I expected, and told me that I would hear in a couple of days... I didn't. So I returned a couple of weeks later, was told that they revived it but it got put on a pallet for disposal, and would only offer a POS house brand battery that barely cranks the car. Why do I feel like there's a very happy employee out the with a nice Optima battery in their car. Anyway, as you may gather, this is no longer my go to shop. read more

I didn't have any issue with the service they offered. My only complaint is that the parts they were using cost double than the prices Autozone or Oreally Y were offering. My recomendation is before going there do a research of prices, parts and labor rates. I think they were over charging too much in my opinion. Be careful out there! read more

Showed up at 10:30am with no line in service department ahead of us. Was going to have them do more than an oil change (check engine light was on), but after being told their diagnostic would cost $100 and just pulling the code "would not say what's wrong," lost all respect for this place. Have pulled codes for free at autozone and have no problem diagnosing exactly what the problem is just from that. Don't let these crooks scam you into spending your hard earned money for a BS diagnostic that you can get for free elsewhere. Continuing on, after replying we would not be paying for a diagnostic and would instead just do the oil change we were treated like crap and looked down upon. We were told that the car would be ready at 12. Fair enough. Called at 1 and asked if the car was ready. Turned out the car wasn't even up yet. Fast forward to 2pm and the car is barely being pulled back into the parking lot. Do yourself a favor and steer well clear of here. To to autzone if you have a check engine light. Ask them to pull the code. Will be able to tell you exactly what's wrong FOR FREE. Then you can get your car fixed almost anywhere else, JUST NOT HERE. Rude service and terrible pricing and false time promises mean a terrible place to trust with the well being of your car. Too bad. Used to be different employees and was much better. Will never be going back there and will be warning all to stay far away. read more

I made an appointment with Pep Boys for a brake inspection/service for a specific time. I showed up at the specified time and was told it would be three hours before they could even get me in to look at it. So what is the purpose of an appointment?! I surely don't expect them to be waiting with refreshments and a red carpet and understand that other work being done might take longer than expected, but it looks to me like their "appointment policy" is to just get you in the store. Incredibly annoying and total waste of my time taken off of work to get my brakes fixed. So this rating is for their inconsiderate policy and total disregard for my time. I have no idea how their brake service might be. I will never know as I won't be back. read more

My car wouldn't start so I had to have it jump started. I took it to Pep boys to see if they could check the battery. They checked it and told me the battery was pretty full and didn't need a new one. I love the quick service to help, even when they are busy. They also checked my tires for me since the light for tire pressure was on. read more

After a long day of work and then arriving on time for my appointment (4pm) for a specific service (a power steering flush), I was told that I need to set another appointment for said service. Terrible, having to set an appointment so that I can set another appointment. The worker explained that they were low staffed and very busy. That I needed to wait 2 hours then they would start the service. I said well I can come back in 2 hours. The worker says we might not have the workers to do it in 2 hours. I don't know why you would offer a time if you cant stick to it. At least have the professionalism to contact the customer ahead of time when you have to adjust the time on an appointment or do the necessary management to free up the time slot in order to allow customers to get there appointments started on the time originally set. I was not even going to say anything about this problem and then I read all the bad reviews on yelp. Well, I had a free hour so I thought I may as well share the experience. read more

I came here to get my oil change, some rear lights replaced, and find out why my check engine light was on on my 2005 Audi A4. I was a little irritated when I set up my appointment online for Tuesday afternoon for 5pm to only be told when I got there that they wouldn't have time to work on my car and that I had to bring it in the following morning. I came back the next day and did the early drop of fat around 7am. I called around 10am since never got a phone call regarding my car. The person in the other end said the tech would call me back. Needless to say after work I just went straight to pick up my car. I got there and they said they did all the work and that they really couldn't see anything wrong and why the check engine light was on. I voiced my concern about not getting a phone call. The very next day, my check engine light came back on. I took it back to them Saturday. The manager, I believe his name is Michael, was very friendly and noticed my frustration. He said they would look at my car right away and if they couldn't fix it, he would refund the $89 I paid for the diagnostic. An hour later he told me that unfortunately he didn't have the people who could work on my car issue. He explained that they don't typically deal with my kind of foreign car. He refunded my $89 and apologized for not getting it done right the first time. Now, the reason for my 4 star is not for the job they did on my car, but rather their customer service in Saturday. Michael was very professional and didn't try to over sell me anything. He was honest and up front about everything and even offered several auto service for my car in the area. Slow customer service, dirty waiting room, stock carts in the isles, this place needs an overhaul. Many of the younger techs are slow, unprofessional and immature. The service manager and tech master, Greg, are the only saving graces in the place. I took in my car for brake repair. The brake pads were worn and starting to grind. Repair was done by Greg. He noticed a problem when placing the car in the work bay, tracked down the slight surging at idle, a totally unrelated pressure hose was ruptured, an old previously taped vacuum hose. Greg found it instantly and fixed it on the spot for the price of a foot of vacuum hose, $2. The place looks mismanaged but a couple of the service people make this place worth trying. Been here twice. Very slow service. You have to wait a very long time while they do a lot of input in the computer that you have no involvement in. And I suggest that if you're paying to have your tires rotated that you mark one to make sure it's done. read more

I discovered that if your tire pressure is low, you can pull into the Pep Boys bay and they will fill them up for you, no charge. Also I bought a window shade for my car that involved assembly and installation. One of the mechanics there installed it for me free of charge.THANKS! read more

we took my car in to pep boys today because my husband thought the clutch might be going out. he commutes from albuquerque to los alamos every day so maintenence is very important. once again alfred singh took great care of us. he had two service technicians drive and evaluate my vehicle and determined that i did not need a new clutch yet. i have had my vehicles serviced at this location for years and alfred and the skilled technicians will keep me coming back for years to come. thank you guys!!!! read more

I had had a mystery misfire for a long time, and regular mechanic in Texas was unable to find the fault and fix it. A very experienced diagnostician (recommended by an Uber driver who had once been a Pep Boys manager) as the best in ABQ Pep Boys, diagnosed it, found the cause and repaired it, to my profound relief and pleasure, in about 3 hours. Went to get my tires balanced and was shocked by the utter disrespect. While Reuben was looking up a quote for the tire balance, I asked him about a dealer service plan that I had for the vehicle. The dealer said that the plan was accepted at Pep Boys locations as well. He said that I would need to call the service plan company to see if Pep Boys is authorized. So I asked him what I would need to bring in after I call them, he said just bring in the coupon and we'll have to call to verify. At this point I was confused, why would I call when they need to call anyway? But what happened next really ensured my refusal to give these people any business; Reuben walked away from the kiosk, went to the hand sanitizer machine, and when he walked back he said something like 'Sorry, you keep spitting on my hands when you talk'. I was in total disbelief afterward; I couldn't even keep a train of thought. I didn't see it happen but it happens to everyone occasionally. I would know having worked as a cashier in the past, but I would just sanitize and continue with the transaction, never making a comment like that. Abysmal service, and the tire balance quote ended up being ridiculous anyway; I would avoid this place. read more

I took my Subaru to Pep Boys to get a clanking sound checked out. The techs performed a free brake inspection, and found some rocks in the brakes. Everything works great now, and they did not charge me! I am really impressed with their honesty and friendly communication skills (they kept me updated during the process). This shop is AMAZING!! TULLEY & JOSIAH are AWESOME!! I just want to say the customer service at this shop is bar none the best I have ever had! I was in town helping my son get packed up (he is active duty military) I'm from out of state and drove in for the weekend. As I was leaving Sunday morning I blew a tire, my options were Discount Tire (closed Sundays) , Firestone ( I would rather walk the 700 miles than give them one penny) and Pep Boys. Given the options I limped my car to the Pep Boys location on Juan Tabo Blvd. When I got there, I spoke to Tulley and even though they were light staffed and very busy. I was told that they could get me in around 4 pm. Mind you it's 11:30. I thought about Firestone, I had a 10 hour drive and needed to get back for work. I'm a lady of a certain age and Tulley upon hearing I would be driving alone for 10 hours asked me to wait for a minute. He went back to talk to his mechanic Josiah came back and said they could try and get me in about 2 pm. That made me happy, however, because I was going to be waiting he said they would try and get it done sooner. Imagine my surprise when 10 minutes later my car was being driven in and put on the lift. It took about an hour and I was on my way again. THESE GUYS WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND!! THANK YOU TULLEY & JOSIAH !!!!!! I can't tell you enough how FANTASTIC these guys and this shop is!!!! read more

Long time customer here. I had to do emission test and my car failed. It turned out their mechanic installed the timing belt improperly. It was idling rough so I did take my vehicle back a day after it was serviced, but they couldn't do much to fix it. The HC output was extremely high to pass the emission. Gen. manager Roberto Samanamud tried to explain how timing belt works and adjusted, but the problem is you cannot drive a car without passing emission. After spending $1086.71, my car is useless now. While this is going on, alternator that was installed by them. After spending $748.06, their alternator fails after 3 years of use. What Robert Samanamud offered was a new alternator for the old one since it was covered by lifetime warranty. I told them I don't want another alternator that does not last. I am learning their ethics in a hard way, and I am extremely disappointed, that they don't stand by their work. If I could I'd give them negative 5 star rating, I would. read more

I got two tires and an oil change on my truck. They did not get the plug tight. it took 2 weeks for the oil to leak out and the motor blew up. Oil was under the bottom of the truck but PB said they would give $200 for the new motor. They will never see me again. read more

BEWARE! STAY AWAY!! AVOID SERVICE DEPT AT ALL COSTS!!! BAIT & SWITCHERS!!!! Quoted me $80.99 for tune up (replace plugs). I told service rep that I also wanted to replace the plug wires. He told me my car didn''t have plug wires, I told him it did and even gave him the ngk# of the plugs from the owners manual of the car. He said that if car needed wires it would be another $48. I made an appt. for the following day. Arrived at appointed time and was told that they didn't have the parts in stock even though they had confirmed my appt. Parts were available at another store across town but they didn't have a driver to go get them. I had to go get the parts myself from their other location. they said they would discount the wires about $10.00 for my efforts. Finally get car in shop 2-3 hrs later than appt. a few minutes later mngr comes to me in waiting room and tells me they "forgot" the charge to replace the wires and it was now going to cost about $270.-$280. instead of $125-$130. I expressed my displeasure with this and said give me my car i'ii go elsewhere, they said they had already taken it apart and would charge me any way. After reading the comments of another 1 of their customers at another location here in town this may be a normal Pep Boys business practice. After complaining bitterly finally paid a little over $200. to get out of there. While in waiting room i saw the service rep using what i thought were unscrupulous sales tactics trying to frighten and intimidate an elderly woman from the east mountains into several hundred dollars in repairs. she had witnessed what had happened to me and she thanked me for helping her to make a decision to not spend her money until she got a second opinion. read more
