This place is a joke! When JJ was here this place was one of the best in Albuquerque but whomever took over since JJ retired is horrible! Prior to July 2019 my husband always took his 2015 Corvette to the Chevy dealer for an Oil change but ,for whatever crazy reason, he decided to take it to JJ's in July 2019. Between carpool and working from home he doesn't drive the Vette every day but he does get it out of the garage on the regular. When the 2020 Lockdown hit us our cars did not get out much because we were all too busy watching Netflix and by the time 2021 creeped in he decided he had better get it in for another oil change since the engine light had come on when he fired it up after a series of mini field trips and extended hibernation. . One more giant brain fart led him to take it back to JJ's. This is where the s*** hit the fan. As he was driving the car home he kept hearing a very loud TICK TICK TICK from the engine. As he pulled into the garage I could hear the ticking from inside the house! He immediately called Galles Chevrolet and was told DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR! They sent a tow truck and hauled it to their shop. After an extensive look over by their Corvette specialist they found metal shavings in the oil due to JJ's using the wrong oil filter! They even had the proof of the incorrect oil filter being present in the oil pan. Bottom Line: it cost us $12,000 and a new engine to remedy the problem that they caused and refused to acknowledge. They tried to say that it was our fault because we "declined diagnostics before they did the final oil change". Soooooo, if I had paid for a diagnostic check would it have shown them that they had been implanting the incorrect oil filter so they could save a few bucks while still charging me top dollar? I wish JJ could take his name off of the sign. read more

The guys here were helpful and made sure nothing was wrong with the car before I left. Ran diagnostics and did a general check and looked at my spark plugs. So dropped my wife's car off at JJ's. The front bumper air dam was hanging off. Now I work in the auto industry so I know that if I had taken it to a dealership one of two things would have happened. They would have told me I needed a new one for $300-400 or reinstalled it for $150-200. JJ's called me 4 hours after I dropped it off. They reinstalled it and charged me nothing. Great folks. My wife's truck wouldn't take fuel so we took it in to have it looked at. They accommodated us by allowing us to take it in before opening hours. After looking at the problem they found that there was an extended warranty on the fuel hose going into the fuel tank and to take it to a Dodge dealer to get it fixed. We did that and got it repaired for free. The point to all of this is that these guys could've done the repair themselves and charged us for it. Instead they were upfront about the whole thing and didn't take advantage of us. That's honesty, folks. The staff there was amazing. If we ever need work done that's where we'll take our vehicles. While back I damaged the wheel disk that housing break and bolt for tire when car felt off from back while replacing flat tire. Since then my car sounded like B-29 over Germany whenever I drive. I took my car to a shop near my home and explained what happened. The end of day technician told me it was transmission problem and need to replace it. They happened to have refurbished transmission and it will cost $2400.00 on my $1000.00 car. Then month later I searched desperately to find honest repair shop in ABQ so I can give to my kid. I stumbled upon while searching Google map. Saturday morning I stop by and explained what happened bro my car. After about 30 min technician told me it might be wheel bearing problem when I dropped the car. And that might be reason for noise when drive the car. Monday morning I dropped off my car and they replaced the part and did wheel alignment. Lord behold! that flying fortress sound effects are gone and car drive smoothly. So I asked if I need to replace my serpentine belt to a manager and he and technician when outside and checked. They said it looks fine no need to spend money to replace now. Which dealership told me that I need to get replaced. Their invoice has printed motto "Good old fashion way to honestly treat customers" ( or something similar...) and they sure follow their motto. After few years living in NM, finally found my official Auto repair shop... BUT, I still can't believe other shop tried to put wool over my eyes claiming needed new transmission, even after I explained what happened... I'll put "curse of ten thousand wedges" for lying to customer. read more

This place also rents out U-Hauls, which is how I found them. I walked in and met the most personable, helpful men and knew I would start taking my car here as well. They have extremely fair prices and are honest - they have had many opportunities to rip me off & charge me for things I asked them to look at while getting an oil change (transmission, filters, etc.), but every time they let me know I don't actually need them. We had a damaged tire and wanted to get the same tire to replace it. We called everyone in town as well as the dealership. My Volkswagen has continental tires and conti recommends premier. We were able to get the same price as online but in the same day! The price was cheaper than online even installed!!!! I paid $80 less than the cheapest place in town. The shop was on point and had the tire ready for me when I came in had it installed in less than 30 minutes. They were awful! I took my car in for a look over just to make sure everything was fine and to check fluids. They told me my breaks needs to be done... so I had them done... all 4 rotors & pads... $800 later (October) in June I started having trouble with my breaks! So i called it took 4 days for them to get the car in. While waiting, my engine light came on. So I called again... they said well that will take another week before we can look at that. I am thinking it's an engine light! Why can't you look at it at the same time you fix my breaks you screwed up on. I'm only asking for a diagnosis. Well that's not how we do things here. I finally get my car in a week and a half later and they insist the car is at the shop by 7am but they don't get it looked at until 4:30 that afternoon... for a diagnosis only much less the breaks! They keep it most of the next day to finish it after they finally decide it's the oxygen sensor... and then change me almost $500... so here's the best part, 2 weeks later my engine light comes back on... I take it back in to them... they again insist the car be in the shop by 8am and again the car sits outside the shop all damn day long with NO diagnosis up until practically closing when I finally go over and ask what is going on with my car and they still don't know they just started to look at it (they close in 15 minutes)! Now I'm extremely upset and I tell them to give me my car to forget it. I'm going to a real mechanic shop. So I did. The real mechanic shop that I went to the next day diagnosed my car in 15 minutes told me that they didn't fix the right oxygen sensor they should've fixed the one in the front not the one in the rear they over charged me because they padded the cost of the part $100 and that they didn't think my brakes needed to be done at all because my car only had 40,000 miles on it and brakes should last a lot longer than 40,000 miles since it's a brand new car. Ha! wasn't that interesting so I'd say, Stay as far away from JJ'Js auto service and tire as I could... especially ladies when they see you come in look out.! They are crooks who can't even get the job done right the first time when it really doesn't need to be done at all! read more

So I had my Cherokee worked on here 2 years ago and the reason I am writing this now is because I found out how bad the work was. Took it in for a cylinder misfire and didn't get it back for 3 and a half months, yes 14 weeks later! They ended up replacing the cylinder head, told me they changed the spark plugs but that didn't happen, but I was still charged for the parts and the labor. I was given the car back twice during the time and had to take it back after each time since the check engine light would come back. I had a hard time getting info on what was actually going in the long time they had it and now two years later am finding out more and more as the misfire happened again. Leaking gaskets, sparkplugs so black, they look original (77,000 on the odometer) and I paid 3,600 for repairs that didn't last two years. Take it how you will but this was my experience, and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more

I noticed I had drippings of what appeared to be oil in my garage. I took my vehicle to JJ's for an assessment and was told they couldn't find a leak but they did find the water pump needed to be replaced. I agreed with their assessment and had it replaced. When I picked up my vehicle I inquired again about the leak and was told the tech did not note any leaks. What do I know, I'm not a mechanic took their word for it. I decided to parked my vehicle in a different spot to verify their findings. Unfortunately there were several drippings of what appears to be oil. Now I will have to find another mechanic and take more time out of my day to have it looked at and hopefully fixed correctly. I chose JJ's because of their reviews and because its close to work. My first dealing with JJ's was getting brakes for my F250. Great job, at a great price. Yesterday, my son went to one of those GREEN emissions places, and his SUV failed. They cited 2 things wrong telling him it could be about $400. I called my "GO TO" guys and they had us bring it in. As it is an older Explorer, they said we needed to go warm it up better so we did as they suggested and went for a 30 mile drive. When we brought it back, they hooked it up and it passed with no issues. My son learned a valuable lesson and I will continue to "highly recommend" JJ's! read more

This was the best place I've ever taken my car to. My brakes were making sounds, so I tried JJ's Auto (AKA Premier Tire). When I was called to pick it up I was told that my brakes were just dusty and needed a good cleaning. They didn't charge me a dime- where most places would have told me that I need expensive repairs. Very disappointing. We have used this business for years but they seem to no longer care about customer service. Had transmission issues which they farm out to United transmissions and after 2 1/2 weeks, neither one could figure out what was wrong BUT they never spoke to us unless we called. Yesterday my car was overheating. After my dad changed my thermostat and we still were having issues he gave these guys a call. They were the closest shop and with the overheating we couldn't go far. Within 2 hours of dropping off they called us saying they found air in the line and my fluids very low. They diagnoised the problem, pressure in the line, added fluids and said I was ready to go. We figured we'd be looking at a few hundred dollars charge, but no charge. They helped us with no charge. It was a simple problem, but they wouldn't let us pay for the antifreeze or their time. I'll definitely recommend this place to everyone I know. They were so nice to my dad and have me back on the road. Next week I'll be going to them for my oil change because I'm all about local businesses especially those willing to help others. read more

Super pleased with JJ's. We live in the neighborhood, and have them maintenance all our cars, and get all our tires here. We used to have our vehicles taken care of at the dealer. But, a new crew at the dealer BS'd me saying I needed a bunch of expensive work I was suspicious. I went to JJ's down the street for a second opinion. That one trip saved me $1,000. Been coming here ever since. JJ's is reliable ethical, professional, with excellent service, and talented mechanics. I have an old Honda Civic I'd rather keep running for another 150,000 miles. I don't want the expense of a new car. So, I just had new struts and compliance bushings installed. JJ's told me what it would cost and that they'd have to keep the car a couple days. They got it finished same day, and it came in a few dollars less. Car rides great once more. JJ's underpromises, and over performs. The dealerships do the opposite. Oil changes, standard maintenance, preventative maintenance, major and minor repairs, and tomorrow we buy another set of tires for one of our other cars. We get all our needs met here. If I could put negative stars I would! My van was towed there with a bad engine on 10/27 at about 9:30pm, I received an email from HUM (which is a "on star" type service that plugs into you vehicle and monitors it's systems) at 7:45pm on 10/28 saying my battery was in the "Yellow" and needed to be checked on, at 8:15pm the same night I got another one...saying my battery was in the "Red" and need immediate attention and may not start. I thought this was strange but figured that maybe they disconnected it to do something with the engine.....My van was there for five days the motor was the problem, which I knew already, but was waiting on an estimate for repair costs. When we got my van towed back to my house the battery was completely dead...would not even take a charge, this is not how it arrived at their shop! As a matter of fact when the tow truck driver came on the night of the 27th to tow it to the shop my husband started the van and backed it up for the driver! My battery is 3 years old, not brand new, but not old enough to die over night! The shop would not take any responsibility and basically told me tough shit, the owner what very rude and disrespectful and kept calling me "girl" I am a 40 year old woman and not a stupid one at that,....goes to show you what they think of women customers! He also kept telling me that my battery was probably dead before it got to his shop, ummm hello, if my battery died before then I would have gotten the email BEFORE the 28th right?! There was absolutely nothing wrong with the battery before getting to this place, I had even taken the battery back and he put it on a charger for three hours after I complained and showed the emails....still is completely dead. They told me you can't prove we are liable and go but yourself a new battery! I told them I know there is nothing I can do about it, but I know they are wrong and should not do people like this....horrible place and no respect for women! read more

I just found the receipt for the work done at the establishment that caused the demise of my Saturn SL2. My husband took my car to them not knowing what I had just purchased for the repair. Unfortunately, due to arthritis I had been unable to get my new and correct spark plugs inserted correctly. I had accidentally ordered incorrect plugs then realized Amazon vehicle guide stated they weren't for that model, returned those to Amazon and ordered the suggested, more expensive plugs and distributer wires suggested by the vehicle guide on Amazon's website. The brand new Platinum plugs and wires were in the car but not tightened. The wires and plugs were over $100. He had JJ's Premier Tire & Service Inc. tow my car to their shop. They put vehicle Saturn L100 as the Model, when it was in fact a SL2 which has a dual cam and a large aluminum cover immediately under the hood. They told him his wife put the wrong plugs in and put in plugs for a SL1 instead of a SL2. They charged him for tow, wrong plugs, timing, tune up and the Pistons blew through the cylinders immediately blowing up my car. I did not know until finding this receipt what he had done or where he took it to be destroyed. I do know he made fun of me just before it blew up. Told me they thought it was funny I had put the wrong plugs in. So, they were negligent in not knowing correct model, misogynistic in making fun of me, and just plain stupid and incompetent in destroying my vehicle. They are either so lackadaisical and haphazard in their work that they do not recognize new plugs and wires, or worse, they are so crooked that they went after a buck with that degree of malfeasance. They did not just overcharge him, or do a bad tune up with the wrong parts on the wrong car, they blew up the engine of my vehicle. The damage was too bad it for it to be worth repairing and all for a few dollars in their pocket. I remembered the address and I saw their name while I was researching a place for tires for my new diesel. I searched and found the receipt to make sure I am accurate in everything stated! This is the most trustworthy shop I have done business with in Albuquerque. I am not a stranger to engines or repair having crewed on a hydroplane team. I moved here from Montana and took my Cadillac to 2 other places for brake repairs, including the local Cadillac dealership who kept my car for a week and charged me over $1100 dollars. After spending over $1800 the brakes were still not right and the light was still coming on. JJ fixed the problem in an afternoon. He showed me the parts and explained what he thought the other shops had done and.....or not done, so there was complete transparency when he recommended repairs. In short, had I taken my car to him in the first place I would have saved myself $1200. The brakes have been fine now for 2 years. These are friendly and honest fellows and JJ is a hands on owner with integrity who cares about the satisfaction of his customers and the reputation of his business.
