First off nice staff. They have good folks working here. To those who want a reasonable oil change, this should work for you. Have had minor electrical problems resolved here, and it was middle of road pricing. Main thing was they did solve it. Sometimes I'll buy my own parts here, and do the be work myself. This is probably best for car nuts. There are better places price wise for brake or tire work. As for the store itself quite an impressive selection. I wouldn't say the cheapest, but they are often quite competitive. The item I would recommend here is car batteries. Parking is plentiful. It's right in the heart of Annandale on 236. I made an appointment for 11:00 was told my service would only take 2 hours. It is now 3 hours later and they still haven't even looked at my car. Also, the whole reason I had to make this appointment was they supposedly put new brakes and rotors on my jeep in late July. I've had problems with the braking system ever since. I came here after driving less than 2,000 miles just taking maybe it needing some driving in time. They are telling me somehow it is now my suspension?!? Like how is my suspension the problem with my jeep when there was nothing wrong with it when I brought it into you in for brakes and rotors?!? I would give this place a -10 if I could. Extremely disappointing experience at the 7121 Little River Turnpike location. Tyrone Rich, the "Service Manager," had us wait in the back for over 30 minutes, telling us customers would be helped in the order we arrived, only to assist people who came in after us. There was no apology, explanation, or basic customer service throughout the entire experience. We originally planned to have additional service done at this location, but because of how poorly this was handled, we took our business elsewhere. I had an appointment for 4:30 on 14 Aug 2026 for 4 tires and I figured it would take maybe 1-1 1/2 hours. Three hours later they finally finished but now I have two TMPS monitors that are not working. One of them they had replaced and that one isn't working either. I am very unhappy with the service and now I have to go back to them to at least get the TMPS monitor replaced again or get my money back to go somewhere else that knows how to install one correctly. I took my 2017 Jeep Cherokee to the this location for a check engine light on 05/2/2026, and the only guy who works on Jeeps ran a diagnostic and told me that I had a blown head gasket. I got my car in January and remembered that the warranty might cover it, so I asked the guy to file a claim. He said he'd have to do it the following Tuesday because the warranty company is closed on weekends, and he only works Tues-Sat. I took it back on Tuesday and he said he'd get back to me that same day. I didn't hear from him. I called back on Wednesday, and I was told that the diagnostic guy wasn't in. Again, he's the only one who works on Jeeps, so nobody else could do it if they wanted to. Thursday came and I was over it. Nobody was getting back to me and when I called in to inquire about my car my questions weren't being answered. I ubered there to get my car and take it back to the dealership, and they told me they LOST MY KEYS. They ended up finding them filed under a completely different Jeep with a completely different issue/status, so I took my car back to the dealership. Now, here's the kicker. Back in March I took my car to this same establishment for a coolant evaluation. Fast forward to May, the dealership is making progress with the claim to the warranty company, and turns out they already received a claim from Pep Boys on May 2nd. The morons at Pep Boys put the mileage from my March visit on the May 2nd claim. So now the warranty adjuster who came to inspect my car at the dealership is denying the claim, because it looks like I drove 1800 miles between May 2nd-May 20th, when in reality that's my mileage from March-May. So here I am 3 weeks later with no car, an angry girlfriend who hates taking the train, and genuine confusion on how this location's employees made it this far in life. I hate taking my car to the shop, but I love taking it to Pep Boys! Everyone is super friendly and knowledgable, it's easy to schedule an appointment, and they're extremely efficient. I used to do my oil changes and tire rotations at Virginia Tire and Auto, but I'd be waiting for 3+ hours. At Pep Boys, it never takes too long. Also their prices are reasonable and they work with you ahead of time on pricing. Lastly, they include a free inspection so you know everything going on with your car!! 10/10 would recommend!! read more

Don't buy the wheel alignment deal here. Complete Waste of money. They won't honor your wheel alignment deal if you do not mention that you have it. Their machine is so old and outdated that it can't do alignments on newer cars. They take forever to do any service even with an appointment. They will try to sell you parts and services by saying your car has issues. My tire rotation alone took 2 hours. I was supposed to have a wheel alignment, but they wouldn't do it claiming my control arm had too much movement. Went to dealership and dealership service said there was no issue with my car. Clearly one place is being suspicious. Dealers and Auto shops are both shady. Third party auto shops have gone downhill and you won't save a whole lot more money going to these places than going to the dealer. read more

This review is only for Tire service. December 2023. Inquired about a patch/plug. Hole was too big for my tire. Pep Boys could not plug/patch. No upsell. No upcharge. None of -- buy a new tire. Instead -- they referred me to an independent tire shop down the street, which fixed it (Weber Tire Company, in Fairfax) with a commercial heavy duty plug/patch. As a result, I recommend this customer service. I will return and provide Pep Boys with retail and mechanical business, in the future, for their honesty (at least get a quote). I bought 4 brand new tires with premium installation to be done. A little over 700$. When I went in, they were working on my vehicle and then recommended me to get new rear brake pads. The cost of the parts was fine. But the cost of labor seemed very high for this type of work. But I reluctantly agreed. Then I had to also pay for new brake fluid and fluid change. My total was 1041.64$ Big yikes. But I paid because I need my car to go to and from work. The very next day, I'm driving and my brake pedal has no pressure, and the pedal goes to the floor. My car doesn't stop as quickly as it should and I can't drive like that. I call them the next day and ask if they can take a look since they just worked on my car. They said to come Monday (today) so I go in. They take a look and claim that the two front brake hoses were damaged and that I need to replace them. 70$ each, with 168$ labor cost. On top of that, a break flush and brake system bleed costing 156$ with labor warranty 57.12 and A SHOP FEE OF 35$ totaling another 738.03$!! They even tried to charge me for MORE brake fluid after I had JUST paid for it two days prior. It's really strange that my brakes were working just fine before me taking my car into pep boys for my tires. Then they recommend new brake pads and a day later my brake hoses are damaged?? I spent 1780$ for something I was expecting to just be around 700$ Christmas is ruined for my family because I can't afford to buy gifts this year due to the high costs and unexpected "car trouble" that magically appeared after getting my car serviced. Made a 12 Noon online appointment to have 4 new tires installed, pre-purchased the tires that were already in store and ended up wasting the entire afternoon because they never even got the car into a bay. I dropped the car off exactly at Noon and left to go across the street for something to eat. I ate and went to a couple of stores but then realized it was going on 3pm and I hadn't heard a thing about my car so I went back over to find that the car was never moved from where I left it at Noon. I go inside to ask what the heck is going on with my car and the manager - sitting down of course - commences to arguing with me about how busy they are and they just hadn't had time to get my car in - mind you, there were two empty bays when I returned- I also heard one of the other reps ask where the tire installation me mechanic was - the manager kept explaining how they can't control how long each appointment will take. And the point of making an appointment, IS? I asked her how many dedicated tire and alignment mechanics do they have for the day and in a defensive way, she says one. I asked her why couldn't someone just call me and say it wasn't going to happen? Bunch of clowns standing around smirking at each other because I am upset about how they conduct business. What were they going to do if I hadn't come back to check on the status of my car? It would not have been completed. The other guy at the counter comes back in and says they will get it into the bay right now but it will take another hour and a half until the installation is done. I just asked for my key back and left. They made no attempt to make it right or to provide any valid reason for their poor management of appointments. They must be making so much money that they can afford to let you walk away without even trying to help the customer. Time is valuable, and they wasted plenty of mine, I just hope they get it back with their personal appointments since they thought it was ok to waste my time. What's sad is that nothing will change from my review, Pep Boy's will continue making their money, the bot will respond with how sorry they are for my bad experience, etc. always makes me laugh how people get paid more for the title of manager but they poorly manage. I scheduled an appointment online to save time and selected a specific tire that was listed as "in stock." When I got there the staff at the front desk were rude, I handed over my keys and waited for almost 2 hours before someone came to tell me without any apology that the tire I picked wasn't in stock. I understand mistakes happen but the way the staff handled the situation made it worse. Instead of explaining upfront or apologizing for the inconvenience, they made me feel like it was my fault. It was a frustrating experience I won't lie. The only positive note was a man at the front desk (I think his name was Yusuf) who seemed polite, even though I didn't interact with him directly. Had multiple issues taken care of. When starting car at their lot, engine light was on. Told me to bring it back next day for technician who did original work to review. Told me there was an engine 02 sensor issue. Took care from location and was able to bring to dealership service station. Found out person at PEP boys had not secured gas tank gasket properly. Was told by dealership service person that this is one of the things PEP boys is known for doing to have you come back and charge you for something not needed. This happened in front of me, where the skid plate snapped in half. The employee did not apologize not even acknowledge what he had done. He said they would replace the part. I've been chasing them to get it replaced for almost 2 months now. Every time I talk I am given a new reason as to why they don't have the part yet. Changing the tire said to wait for an hour and a half and ended up waiting for three hours. then the person who changed the tire had no experience and installed the rivets of the four tires upside down. Do Not Recommend this Business. Please avoid it. November 2023 I took my Jeep Wrangler in to have clutch replaced. Several days for this work to be done and then informed that it was going to cost quite a bit more than originally estimated due to more damage found to clutch. 90-day warranty but at 100 days clutch died. Had it towed to Jeep Dealer and was informed the clutch had completely burned up and was coming apart. The flywheel has to be replaced again. Having to now pay almost double to replace the clutch (again) and broken flywheel (again), on top of the $$$ I already paid Pep Boys less than 4 months ago. read more

The absolute worst. Told it would take 2 hours to have my car serviced, called after 3.5 hours to check in and was told it would be another hour. Came after an hour and was told it would be another hour. Stood and watched as my car wasn't even touched or being worked on at all for the first half hour and then someone finally started and finished the work within an hour. 7 hrs after dropping it off it was finally ready, after watching others coming and leaving with their cars for that final hour and a half. I am never going back to Pepboys . The staff in the garage working on our cars, did not even know what a torque wrench is. My maintenance schedule asked for an oil change and a retorquing of the drive shaft, clearly visible from below . The so called mechanic Did not feel confident enough to use a torque wrench to retorque 6 bolts for safety reasons. Apparently Pepboys does not train their staff to deal with cars, how can a mechanic in charge of your car's welfare not know how to use a torque wrench? I know how, but he wouldn't let me. So now, since I don't have a left in my driveway I have to make a special arrangement with someone else just to torque. Those bolts. I still cant believe it. read more

Piece of **** place. Bathrooms out of order. I asked how long it would take for my service they said "1 hour" so I decided to stay. That was at 10:30 am. I saw my car get lifted on the car bay and sit there for 3 hours untouched. I went across the street to get food and came back and saw my car was finally off the bay. Now, first, this is a auto parts store with a service department. I give Pep Boys 5 stars for the type of store they are, and the services they offer. But let's break down the good an the bad. Staff. 2.5 stars. When I walked in for my appointment, the body language, attitude and tone of the person working up front was not very friendly. With how this experience ended, I do not think its because the person is rude, or not interested in being helpful. But the attitude of having so much to do, with little or no support and that is clear because here was no service manager in site More on that later. 1 star . Time it took to get my car back. My apt was at 10:30. Oil change and leak in a tire I waited around until 12:15 and left. The person at front had 4-5 people in line waiting to be helped, so I did not bother him, as I would come back after work. I got there at 6:30. Car not only not done. but not even started on It was in bay, hood up and up on the lift. The process of finding out my car was not ready the person there at the front was just overwhelmed and frustrated. I went out and looked in the bay windows which is when I saw my car was not done. I came back in upset and and let them know I Was upset. The car was there since 10:30 and its 6:30 and not even started on. The front desk people went in the back to check and did not come back for 20 minutes. But I found out for good reason. 4 stars The front desk person. I was not happy with him when I got there, but, dang they are busy, and he is busting his butt. The reason he did not come back up, he stayed back there to help get my car done. The other tech who worked on my car, was about to clock out but saw I was upset so, in about 30 minutes time they got it all done so I could leave -5 star for management. There is NO management in the service department. This is no direction. The staff is busting butt to work and there really i no real process in place to make anything easy for the employees which in turn would make it easy for the customers. Its absolutely PATHETIC... Which brings me to the highlight of the problem. And I will be posting pictures. There is a sign up front that says this. "I'm Personally committed to your complete satisfaction. I was really surprised at how idiotic there ticket system is and how they don't have proper method of processing work orders. So, did they end up doing good service... Yes... I was going to give this 1 star last night while all of this was going on, but will give 3 stars, only because the techs who work there, want do do a good job, want to be helpful, but there is no policy, or procedure or staffing there needed to handle the amount of customers. The check engine light of my Ford Focus came on January 8th. I made an appointment with Pep Boys in Annandale, VA that evening to have the diagnostics run and see what is wrong. Nearly 2 hours later of waiting they tell me I need an air filter housing assembly, more valves, and new air filter. Just to tell me what was wrong was $130. They were about to close so they couldn't fix it then. I asked if they could give me a quote but they were like our system is down, but I will call you tomorrow. So I wait for the call the next day and it never came, I called them like so how much will it be? The tech says hang on I'll call you back in 15 mins. An hour goes by and I call again and I'm like sooooooooo????? He's like well the thing is the housing assembly we need is not available. As in no ford dealership has it and they all say the only place to find that part is at a junk yard because we don't make them anymore. I'm like......so what now? He very rudely tells me WE DON'T LOOK FOR PARTS IN JUNK YARDS, you'll have to find it yourself and if you do we can fix it then. I luckily find the part on E-bay and after checking 5 billion times that it's the right part AND will fit my car, I buy it, another $200 later. So I wait for it to ship and arrive. It arrives on the 13th or 14th, can barely even remember, and I'm like OK, I'll call pep boys, say I have the part, and then they can just fix it. I call on the 16th asking if I can bring the car in the next day at 5pm and ask if they can just install it, do whatever it is they need to do, they said yes. I come in on the 17th at 5pm that day and they look up what all was needed for my car and they are like yeah we have to order these other parts so you have to come in tomorrow at 2:30pm. I'm like...................FINE. So that brings us to the 18th. I was told the BEST mechanic in the shop will be in and he can do it and it will all be fine and good and great. And it was going to cost me nearly $600. I arrive at Pep Boys. They initially act like they don't know what I'm doing there but finally figure it out. I go to wait in the waiting room knowing it will likely be a while. 90 mins later the same tech who had told me the best mechanic they had would fix it says I have some bad news. The mechanic refuses to fix it since he is not the one who made the recommendations in the first place. I'm like..............what?????? Does he not think the housing assembly or whatever is wrong. He's like you're not listening to me, he won't fix it because since he didn't make the recommended repairs, and if he fixes it and something goes wrong it will be on him. I'm like............so he doesn't think what is recommended is needed? The tech goes you're not listening, he didn't do the diagnostic so he won't do the recommended repairs. I was so taken aback and up and angry with how rude everyone had been, unhelpful, and how much of my time was wasted. I was like but everything is here, all the parts are here. I can't take more time off work (I had a ton of meetings the next day that I really didn't want to have to reschedule and a bunch I need to do and get done and didn't want to waste any more time. I already had to move stuff around work to come in on the 18th). I'm like so what now?????? He's like well the mechanic who did the diagnostic can do it tomorrow. I'm like why can't the guy that's here just do it NOW???? I just want this off my plate, like come on, I already wasted like two days here now Jesus Christ!!!! Like I get warning me that he can't be responsible if the recommended repair doesn't work. But to just refuse and turn me away after I already waited 90 mins. I just sat there and started crying and the tech walks away. I compose myself finally and go to the check out area. And both tech are taking calls and doing paper work like I'm not standing there. Finally he's like so......here's your key. I'm like so what do I do now???? He's like the mechanic that did the diagnostic will be here tomorrow, you can bring it then. I'm like can I make an appointment so I don't have to explain myself again???? He's like for when? I'm like when does he come in? Noon??? Fine make it then. And before I left I was like will my car ACTUALLY be fixed tomorrow??? He's like yes. And I stormed out of the shop without another word. I just felt so defeated and so beaten up with how everyone has been nothing but rude to me concerning my car like I'm bothering them. I'm like this is a repair shop, like why are yall being so hostile to me like this isn't what you do?? In the end I didn't go back and felt completely taken advantage of. I called on a Sunday morning asking if I could get a brake fluid flush & rotors replaced, they told me to come up it would just be a few hours (I had no appt. So that is understandable). I get to the location I speak with a tech at the desk & he says "well Sunday's aren't really a good day to get rotors replaced & even the brake fluid" so I ask him if it was because they were so busy and he says "no we don't have a technical to do that today, it's just better during the week". He also turned a guy around before me telling him he couldn't patch a tire. This isn't the first time I've had an issue at this specific location.
