I came in to get a repair on a coolant bypass valve that takes 1.5 hrs to complete for a competent technician, they ended up needing my car for 5 days to identify and correct the problem even though I communicated the issue when I initially brought them the car. They insisted I only needed my oil changed to clear the code I had. They then broke a heating line on my car, lied to me and told me that it was brittle and old and broke on its own on a 6 YEAR OLD CAR. I contacted the service techs at Toyota and they informed me that was highly unlikely. Their manager then lied to me further and doubled down and gave me a bad discount. Businesses don't feel the need to give a discount if they're not at fault for breaking your stuff. Do not trust them to do anything more than change your oil, if that. Will never be back. read more

I set up an appointment to drop it off at Pep Boys the next morning while we were at the convention, and was there early. When he learned that we were traveling and the van was new-to-us, he offered to not only do the brakes but also do a thorough safety check while it was up on the rack - and caught a couple of other issues that would have been problematic had they acted up on the way home. The work was completed quickly and thoroughly, and though it was expensive - what isn't these days? - it was also fair. The staff were great, courteous and helpful. Three months later, everything is holding up beautifully. Pep-Boys just destroyed my two front Original Alcoa aluminum wheels. I went in to correct the alignment job they got wrong (ruined a brand new set of firestones, should have been a red flag) I figured; while I'm at it 'why not have my wheels checked for balance'. The truck shook horribly as soon as I got it back. Now my top speed is 60 miles an hour and I feel like I'm in a paint shaker. For those who want to know: the hub-centric wheel was tightened off center onto the front hub ring and the steel ring deformed/pushed into the aluminum wheel. Pep-Boys has been the only ones to remove or install my wheels in the last 2 years. They won't pay for them, they're denying responsibility, and they won't let me see the camera footage. I was told I have to take their word for it that their technician didn't do anything wrong. If you've read this far; I humbly request that you take your business elsewhere. read more

When I got home to place them on my truck, I found a set that was provided to me by the dealership. I quickly went back to the Pep Boys location in Acworth GA, 3638 Cobb Pkwy N. Only, to be told by the gentleman who works there that he didn't know how to do a return; and I would have to wait for James on Monday. Well, I spoke with James this morning and he called his Area Manager, and this was told to me, "No refunds because it is not a resaleable item". Excuse me, but I did not open the package, I did NOT use the wipers, I came back within 15 minutes to return them; and it hasn't been 24 hours since I purchased. What do you mean "It is not a resaleable item?" This is a ridiculous policy that should be done away with, ESPECIALLY if your locations are not informing customers of this before they make the purchase!!!! They took my money. I am requesting a full refund asap! I have NEVER purchased anything that was not returnable; and if I had of known this, I would NOT have purchased these blades. Again, no damage to the package; wipers are NOT used; package not opened.... How is it "not resalable?" However, they did strip a bolt and big boy manager was having a power trip when we were upset about it after waiting 2 hours. Fat guy in the front with the missing tooth tries to just rip people off. They clearly cant work on anything aftermarket. They wanted 300 dollars for an alignment. And even tho the workers stripped a camber bolt they couldn't even reduce the price. It took 2 hours for them to "finish the alignment". We just made it before the tire went flat. The cut in the tire was bigger than the patch they had. Got our tire replaced in a short period of time and we were on our way. I went to get my fuel injections and exhaust cleaned in hopes it'll fix what was going on with my car. But it didn't work, but I was told they know what the problem is after cleaning my fuel injections but refused to tell me what the problem is with my car because I didn't pay for a $120 diagnostic fee. But I paid $180.20 for them to clean my injections. Philip basically was rude about how I should've paid for the diagnostic and how he won't give me an estimate or tell me what's wrong with my car told me what they did didn't make any difference but he knows what the problem is. I think it's unprofessional to let someone do a service to their car if they knew it wasn't going to work. They should've called me before doing it and tell me hey that's not going to fix your car but I think I know what it is. I would've rather paid for the diagnostic then to pay for something that was unnecessary. I'm a single mom and my car is what I use to make money. So since my car isn't working correctly i can't use my car to make money. I would've just got it fixed with them if I knew what was actually wrong. So unprofessional. read more

This location is extremely unreliable. I dropped my car off 11AM Sunday by appointment. There was only cosmetic damage, which I explained to the attendant. I was told it would be assessed by 3PM and that I would receive a call with an estimate. It never came. I called the next day at 11AM, and they told me it was the next vehicle to be pulled into the shop. I called again at 2:30PM for another update, and they told me it was being driven into the shop to be assessed at that very moment. I walked over at 2:45PM to sit in the lobby for convenience. The car was sitting in the parking lot. I told them, every time I spoke with them, that I wasn't from Chatt and needed to get back home. Now standing in their lobby, I was confused why I would be lied to repeatedly. Realizing then that they prioritize people who wait in the lobby, I told them I would be waiting right there for the update. It took them ten minutes to look at it and tell me everything I had told them at the drop off. They gave me the keys back and did no repair. Because they wasted my time, they didn't charge me anything for that pitiful ten minutes of literally looking at it to tell me nothing new. Tip: If you want them to work, don't leave the lobby. When it got here Is tarted calling around to get it mounted and Pep Boys was the only place that would mount the tire quickly and for a reasonable price. I will never go to another pep boys. The worst service I've ever received. Was recommended to go here by our warranty provider since they do a more thorough job. From the time I arrived I heard them say they where ready to leave more times than I could count. They didn't check all of my fluids or tire pressure. I had to leave and put air in my tires and check the fluids before we went on a 9 hour trip. I even told them this upon arriving. They didn't care they where ready to go.... I've never taken my car to Pep Boys for any type of service but considering they are one of the only places in town that is open on Sunday, I went online and made an appointment for 2:00pm. Before returning, I accidentally called the same place thinking it was another to see if they could work on the car, and I was informed they did NOT have what they needed. Worst experience I've ever had in my life with an auto repair center. My truck broke down traveling through Chattanooga and got a tow to this Pep Boys location. Only thing wrong with my truck was the fuel pump went out. It cost $1100!!!!!!!! The job took 2 hours and I was charged $400 for labor on replacing the fuel pump and another $90 on labor for cleaning the line. I asked for them to use the cheapest part possible...so what did they do? Stuck a $309 fuel pump in my truck. By far their most expensive. That same fuel pump costs $187.49 on pepboys.com. They also have $75 fuel pumps on their website. Also, they told me I needed a new battery. That wasn't true at all. My battery is less than a year old and I had killed it the night before repeatedly trying to crank. I had already told them this. So after paying my exorbitant fee to get my truck back I walk out and try to crank my truck. What happened? Nothing. Absolutely no power. Well they had just moved my truck into the parking lot before I got back, so I knew it had to work. I tried jumping it off...nothing. No signs of power at all. I go back inside to get someone out and the guy brings a jumper pack out...still nothing. I asked, "did yall disconnect my battery?" I asked for him to go get some pliers. He does. He cranks down on both connections and BOTH of them were loose. So I ask, did they do this on purpose in hopes I was desperate and dumb enough to buy a new battery? Seemed so to me. So I implore anyone in the Chattanooga area, DO NOT USE PEP BOYS, unless you like getting ripped off and robbed. [a few notes since I am writing this 1 day later] -I have successfully cranked my truck over 15 times in the last 36 hours, nothing wrong with the battery. -a boy called me from this pepboy location earlier today to find out about my visit. I voiced my concerns and he was completely smug and arrogant about their practices and immoral pricing. While he continually begrudgingly half-ass apologized. Decided to go here because my friend said they were open on Sundays and I found a coupon, needed an oil change. When I arrived they said it would be awhile which was fine since we were going to have lunch next door. When we came back they were just finished up my oil change. I got in line behind a lady. My friend noticed that they handed her the keys to my car. She told them that they were not her keys and now we have a problem.. Apparently the workers had been talking to her about my car so she got some windshield wipers. When it was finally sorted out I was basically coerced into having to get the wipers which were a whopping $40, twice as much as the oil change. I didn't even get a sticker to know when I need to get the oil changed again. Not happy at all. I should have been treated better since it was THEIR mistake. I never wanted wipers. What if this woman had told them to put new tires on the car or do some mechanical work that would have cost hundreds of dollars? Will not be returning! read more

They had a good deal on their store brand version of a good all-terrain tire (Cooper Adventurer AT), so this is where I came for service. I went in to make the purchase and appointment and my wife brought the truck by the next week. To me, they were friendly enough with one issue. When I mentioned the non-store-specific version of the tire I was getting (Cooper Discoverer AT3) they told me that version wasn't being made anymore, which I knew was NOT true. Minus a star for either lying or else simply not knowing about the product they were selling. My wife had a completely different experience. According to her, they were condescending to all the women who came up for service. They tried to upsell her on several items and services I didn't want. They told her the brakes needed replacement because they were "in the red", whatever that means... I had just checked the pads the weekend before and there was plenty of material left. This would be a 1-star had the second set of event happened directly to me, but the info is second-hand so I'm rating 2-stars for lying/uninformed and the hard upsells. read more

A couple of weeks ago I had a nightmare situation with my car. I was driving down I-24 before the I-75 split and my car completely broke down and I barely was able to make it to the side of the road. I was in full panic mode, I was alone, it was a cold Sunday evening and I had about a 2 hour drive to go before I was home in Atlanta. My insurance company USAA, the best insurance company ever, was able to get me towed to Pep Boys 15 minutes before they closed, thank goodness. Only problem, their service manger had left for the day. Jason and the other guys were total angels to me, they helped calm me down and even stayed almost 45 minutes past closing to make sure my dad, who lives in the area, was able to come get me and I had left safely. My safety was their main concern and they assured me that I would be the first car they looked at the next day. The next morning I got a call from Jason letting me know that they were looking at my car and what he thought was going on, and they would test it out and call me back shortly once they were able to determine the cause for the car breaking down. Not too long after I got the final call that my car was ready and it was good to drive back home, I came in expecting it to be really expensive, since it's an Infiniti, but it was less than $300, and she drove great the whole way back. I can't thank Jason and the guys at Pep Boys enough for being so patient, kind, and professional while helping me, they were my holiday miracle! I highly recommend this place to anyone! read more

Excellent and honest service. We moved to TN 6 weeks ago. My daughter had not driven her car at all in the 6 weeks. She went to start it up today and the battery was dead. Her car is two years old so we figured she might need a new battery. I jumped it and we took it into Pep Boys. He took us in right away and ran some tests on the battery. He came back out and said the battery was fine. He said do not waste your money on a new battery. He said he would run a quick charge on it. 20 minutes later he gave us the keys and told us to make sure the car gets driven. I asked him how much we owed him and he said nothing. We moved from South Florida. This never would have happened there. They would have tried to sell us their most expensive battery. I was blown away by the friendly, quick and honest service! I came in to have a nail removed from a tire on my car . I was told it would be 45 minutes before they could look at it . It was lunch time so I walked to a nearby restaurant to eat . About 15 minutes later I got a call from the manager James saying I have bad news and bad news . First ....the nail was too close to the side wall to patch . Second ....while " driving" onto the lift the service man hit a sharp edge and punctured ANOTHER TIRE. These guys are awesome. My mom and I are traveling from Florida to Colorado and her AC in the car went out. We have two dogs and the heat was unbearable. We stopped in Chattanooga for the night and I'm the morning took the car to pep boys. They got us in right away and informed us that my mom had a small Freon leak in the line going to her compressor. Thy unfortunately could not get the replacement part until the fallowing day but they could fill us up with Freon and get us as far as they good. We made it all the way to Collinsville, IL where we had called Buick ahead of time and had them order the part so it would be there when we arrived. Beware! James, the service manager at the Pep Boys facility on Gunbarrel Road in Chattanooga, TN, can't hear. It isn't obvious but when he asked if I wanted a cabin filter to be replaced in my car I said, "no, I don't want the cabin filter but I will let my husband decide on the gas additive." Well, they installed it and charged us $31 more, twice the amount of the original reason we went in there. Did he apologize for "misunderstanding"? Yes. Did he offer to take the filters out or give us a discount? No. Which do you think would have made this "mistake" easier to accept He showed us the filter and yes, it was dirty but that still doesn't mean that we wanted it replaced now especially when I said no originally. I plan to warn all my friends to watch for added charges when dealing with this Pep Boys store. I would have given a zero star rating but I wasn't given the option. read more

I am an older lady and have always been treated with kindness and respect, even when they were super busy. My daughter recommended this shop and she was right. Our brakes started smoking after coming down lookout mountain. We called the Pep Boys in Hixson and the man who answer the phone had no sense of urgency for our safety issue. He said he might be able to get a satin on Sunday if we leave the car with him. We were pretty disappointed so I called this Pep Boys and Jon answer the phone.. They close at 8 PM and were extremely helpful and fixed the issue within 30 minutes. Jon was so friendly and explained everything to us. We will defiantly be back for service.
