Our brakes started smoking after coming down lookout mountain. We called the Pep Boys in Hixson and the man who answer the phone had no sense of urgency for our safety issue. He said he might be able to get a satin on Sunday if we leave the car with him. We were pretty disappointed so I called this Pep Boys and Jon answer the phone.. They close at 8 PM and were extremely helpful and fixed the issue within 30 minutes. Jon was so friendly and explained everything to us. We will defiantly be back for service. I brought my car in to pep boys here about 2 months ago to take care of, what we found to be my ignition coil. I Was satisfied with the work and timeliness. Then a month later, my engine overheats, so I bring the car in to be evaluated. They find that my thermostat housing and water pump need replaced. I receive my quote from them of $745. (I was told this was even with some money shaved off) I'm thinking two things.. 1. This price sounds way too high. 2. I just had this vehicle in here a month ago and you're telling me that your mechanics found nothing wrong with this the last time it was in here? I decided to leave and went to express oil change, right down Gunbarrel rd. I was evaluated and quoted out the door for all of the same stuff, $280. Yeah, I don't think pep boys does everything for less. Nor do I think the people operating this location are doing fair dealings with car services. I am not reaching out because I understand it was the end of the day and everyone was stressed the day before a holiday Simply a failing store that thrives off of a busy area. I saw so many sad people here. Sad as in not wanting to be there. The customer service is ok if you force yourself upon them. All the accessories I found for my car were Universal ( do not really fit) like gear shifters, pedals, muffler accessories, trim, and other, nothing made for my car. The place was organized and clean. It was very heavily worn in every isle and in the car work area. They did let me test a part by taking it out of the package. I overheard that they couldn't fix a car for someone after they brought it in. Would have given 3 stars but everyone there staff and customers were so so sad. The bathroom was scary. No one had time to help me. The parking lot seems to be ok, but they area they take the car into the shop is odd and could be unsafe. The location again is good. read more

Needed an oil change late on a Saturday afternoon on way back to WI after unexpected trip to FLA. Everybody else was closed and got to Pep Boys just 10 minutes before they were to close. No problem! Took us in immediately without any complaint. They were fast so didn't have to stay too late, but still incredibly accommodating and very friendly. We have double charged transactions on our credit card from the Gunbarrel store. When we called the store 7/22/17 regarding the issue, a store employee told us that if it is still pending on Monday 7/24/17 we need to come into the store. We went to the store 7/24/17 and the store manager not only rudely interrupted the explanation that was being given to an actual working employee (yes 4-5 employees were standing at the counter having personal conversations with no regard to any customer in the store) he proceeded to actually verbally attack me in front of employees as well as other customers in the store saying in a booming tone "it won't go through"; and as of 7/25/17 the charges did go through- yes charged twice for one transaction. As I became angered with the rude tone and still no explanation of the issue I began to get vocal about the continuing issue and lack of customer service skills. While I am having a conversation with this incompetent store manager a large female employee actually laughed at my situation. Finally the store manager must have found a shred of customer service and still in a hateful tone, gives an explanation as to why the charges were still pending (payment batch doesn't run on the weekends) along with a pitiful excuse for an apology, and throwing in this same situation happened to a 100 customers a month ago and they didn't have an issue. This is unacceptable and the poorest excuse of handling a customer's issue where you are at fault- the funds were deducted from our account by a Pep Boys issue, along with the customers experience at this store. To top off this horrific experience when we called the corporate customer service to report this event, the customer service representative actually said "what do you want?". Is this how a national suppliers trains all of their employees to speak and act to customers; once you have a customer's money the customer service ends with the sound of the cash register? read more

We were traveling and had trouble with our Range Rover on the interstate halfway between Chattanooga and Atlanta. Of course it was a Saturday afternoon (horrible time to try to find someone to work on your car). We found this place which was actually open on Saturdays and actually worked on Sundays. We had to be towed there, so we called ahead to make sure they would be able to take us that day. They were very accommodating and got us in as soon as we arrived. Everyone was extremely friendly and very helpful and knowledgeable. They helped us find the problem and were able to get it taken care for us so that we could make it home a couple of hours away. They were quite the uplifting end to a day gone wrong! read more

After purchasing a new car battery two years ago, I have been disappointed. Not only did I pay too much for this 3 year warrantied battery, the warranty meant NOTHING. PEP BOYS installed this battery and let me know of their 3 year warranty. 2 years later, the battery dies, leaving my family stranded on a back country road in 30 degree weather. Since I was desperate, I purchased a new battery from the closest garage, at ALOT less then I did at Pep Boys. Pep Boys no longer carries this battery. So their warranty did not provide ANY coverage. They did however provide a "good" price on a "better" battery. I already replaced your crappy battery...I want the warranty honored. Another big corporate car parts company sucks. While traveling through the area from Atlanta to Michigan our brakes gave out. We stopped at this pep boys where there was a sign that explained the store was closed. I was in desperate need to get brakes fixed and a nice gentleman explained the situation and directed me to a place that could service the brakes. He stepped up and did the right thing. read more

My experience here was very unpleasant. We came here for an oil change and they used the wrong filter, which made the oil leak and the problem even worse. We talked to the assistant manager the first time and they had a horrible attitude. The customer service was awful. We were forced to spend extra money for a tow and even visited a second time to get our car repairs. The employees here don't have enough experience and their attitudes are horrible. I don't even know where to begin with my review!!!! This place DOES NOT deserve ANY stars what so ever!!!!!!! My mother's SUV (Drenda Williams is her name) was destroyed by these people!!! They fried her computer!!!! Her car was taken to this terrible place (for a SMALL problem that should have beem fixed MONTHS AGO)in September and she still has not gotten it back! Apparently a guy working on it messed up BIG TIME and now they are not even trying to fix his mistake!!!! As a result, this place has destroyed all of our family plans due to their blanton inconsistencies and irregaurd for the situation at hand (my mother's suv and the fact that they are AT FAULT FOR messing up my mothers vehicle). I had previously taken my 2 cars to be serviced there never ever impressed with the customer service especially w the manager James who seems to have a problem being nice much less dealing w women I have been referred to as sweetie this last time I went in trying to get help having my car towed from pet smart to their location which was like 2 miles away they wouldn't or even stated could not dial their toll free number to help me i didn't have my cell phone on me when I asked hey I bring my cars in here all the time I am a rewards member then James the Mgr referred to me as hon! I have filed complaint made 7 calls to customers relations promise a phone call to discuss my dissatisfaction n yet no phone call! Even got a vp name a Michael mcsovely. Who still has not called me! I bought 4 tires for the Nissan and 4 great tires for the Volvo cheaper than I could find anywhere else.

This is my first time here. I'm getting tires put on. Glad I was watching because they almost broke my trunk trying to get in it ( it's an electric lock on older model), to get the flat tire out...then, instead of paying attention to the fact that whitewalls were showing,( again, older model car, it looks better imo.)..they mounted them whitewalls in...so I had to point that out to them...and wait while they fixed it....so far I'm not super impressed...let's hope they line up the steering wheel when they do the alignment. ..I didn't specifically ask them too...I would hope I wouldn't have to! read more

I went here for a new tire, and asked how long it was going to take. The guy told me it shouldn't take that long, so I decided to just stay there and wait. It took 2.5 hours for my car to be ready. That is a really long time to me.They explained to me afterward that they only had one guy working on tires that day, so the wait was longer. If they knew that, then why didn't they tell me that from the start? I could have gone somewhere else while my car was being worked on. Not going here again. read more

Well I went into this pep boys to buy some new wheels, I got them ordered on February 14 and they said it would be 2-3 business days for them to come in and they would call me, well I never got a call after 5 days so I called them and they still didn't have them and it would o be another day or so, so I call back 2 days later and they tell me the order got "mixed up somehow and that they would have to reorder them and that it would be another 2-3 days, well they didn't end up getting in until March 3 (almost 2 weeks) and if that isn't bad enough, one of the wheels was bent from shipping and they had to order another one. So I finally got the new wheel in today Monday march 9th. This has been the worst experience I have ever had with a store of any kind, I will never go there again and I would recommend that you don't either. read more

I just had the worst experience ever from an auto repair store. I went in to get tires and left the store 8 hours later with a bill of $1,950. I was told it would take about 3 hours to get the work done Half of my bill was from needless repairs as well as UNAUTHORIZED, needless repairs, which included radiator hose replacement and flush, changing out already new wipers and rotors that I felt were well above spec. Although I praise Frank (the lead tech) for his work and for being very professional, I have to say the management, James and Billy were extremely disorganized, cocky, slick acting and unprofessional. I was given a quote and said they can get the rear drums for my car the next day. About 30 mins later they told me they could get the drums that day. The quote rose about $120 because they "had to go through another supplier". Funny thing, one of the drums were defective when it came in and I had to come back to get that drum put on. So I was paying extra for a defective part that I had to come back to get the break work completed. Later that afternoon, 6 hours into my 8 hours there, I guess the management and the other 4 store personal were bored as they were tossing things up at the ceiling, goofing around and laughing. This went on after awhile. At the end of the day I restated again that I was not happy about paying extra for a defective part and paying for unauthorized and needless work. Billy promised me a free oil change, which he and James tried to charge me $51.80 for when I brought the car in the second time. This was my tipping point and I made it very clear that I was not going to pay for this oil change, when they promised me a free oil change for my troubles. Needless to say that was little compensation for being lied to and ripped off of hundreds of dollars. I have worked at car dealerships before and even at U-Haul, and have valuable retail sales experience and service. And I must say that if I was their boss, I would fire Billy and James Immediately, and give Frank the management position. read more

The service manager at this place is useless. I walked in and asked if they could take a look at the plastic undercarriage of my car as I thought it was coming undone and flapping. Before I could even finish my explanation, his immediate reply was that they didn't have any clips to secure it back up. I then asked if they could simply look at it to attempt to determine what the issue was before providing an uneducated solution. Of course his response was that no one was available - period...not "we could take a look shortly", or "I can schedule some time". I walked out and drove 2 minutes to the Auto Service Center at Walmart and the lead technician politely greeted me and asked what issue I had and after I explained my issue, he said he would have someone take a look and let me know what they find out. 30 minutes later I was called and I was told that not only had several service technicians worked together to come up with a short term solution that secured the undercarriage in place, but they would not charge me for the work they performed. Obviously, I was ecstatic at the solution and the kind gesture of not even charging for their time and effort. It's sad that some people have no interest in simply attempting to do their job that they are paid to do. read more

My 17 year old daughter took one of my vehicles to Pep Boys on Gunbarrel Rd for a simple oil change. I gave her a couple coupons for a discount oil change, one that Pep Boys had sent me in the mail and one that I printed from Pep Boys website. My daughter said that when she walked into the business there were several employees standing around talking and they just ignored her before finally she was able to tell them she had an appointment for an oil change, she said the male that spoke to her became rude when she told them she only wanted her oil changed. Maybe it made him mad that he couldn't make commission on selling her other repairs or service but when they told her her car was ready he quoted her the full price for an oil change and when she said "what about the coupon?" He claimed it was unreadable. She then went to her car to get the other coupon and a female employee came out to her car and said that the male employee was being an @@@ and that she would honor her first coupon. When she paid and was given her keys back by the male employee he gave it back to her in two pieces. Some how they had pulled a woven key cloth key holder from the ring ( he had to have been forcibly pulled apart). I have used Pep Boys twice now. The first time for an oil change. They do not tell you ahead of time that they charge an exorbitant fee for extra oil. They did not reset my "service engine light" and I was not sure if they even changed the oil. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and try them again because I had a $14.95 oil change coupon. They neglected to inform me that my coupon price changes to $26.95 PLUS the cost of extra oil, because my F-150 needs 3 qts of oil more than their 5 qt stipulation. Bottom line: My $14.95 oil change became $40.34. Also, unlike other oil specials and coupons, it is a mail in rebate that you have to WAIT 24 hours to submit to get $10.00. They are surly if you ask questions about their deals, they use "creative" unspecified and hidden methods of computations with their coupons and advertised deals to ultimately gouge you. NEVER AGAIN! read more
