A couple of months ago stopped in to get an oil change. I stopped by purely for the convenience. My mechanic would have had my Jeep at the shop all day for an oil change. I asked him if they could check my brakes also to make sure they aren't worn out. When the guy started to ring me up he said my brakes were fine and at 50% so no need to replace. He said my brake fluid needed to be replaced because it's very dark. After waiting two hours for the oil change to get done, I just wanted to get out of there so I told him I'll be back another day. I just figured it somehow got contaminated when I go off-roading and drive through giant mud puddles.... other than that, everything was fine. I don't recall the guys name but he had either blonde or reddish hair. I went back about a month a a half later. A new guy with dark hair a scruffy looking was at the counter. I told him I was told by another employee there my fluid needed to be replaced. Even though I had an appointment I had to wait 3 hours before they finally pulled it into the garage. The guy came out after talking to the tech and he told me all of my brake pads were worn out and my brake rotors were ruined. All of my brakes were shot. He said everything had to be replaced. I said that was interesting because the previous guy told me the pads were at 50% and I have barely driven 500 miles since the oil change. He went back and talked to the tech. The tech insisted my brakes were shot / rotors were shot, and if he replaced my brake fluid it would leak out so he reused to do that job. I told this new guy I felt like he was trying to, to put it politely, rip me off. Brake pads don't wear down that fast. I told him to just give me my keys back and I'll go to my regular mechanic to check my brakes. I dropped my Jeep off there the next day. My mechanic told me my brakes were at 50% and my rotors look like they are still new. This cost me $120. So, thanks to Pep Boys Cinnaminson's shady robbing customers business policy I'm out over $100 and wasted an entire morning sitting in their horrible waiting area for a job that should have taken 10 -15 minutes to complete... 10am to 1pm.... even with an appointment. Pep Boy's used to have a decent reputation. When this happens it's not helping them any. All I can say is avoid this place. Don't let them near your car. They can't be trusted. read more

Would give zero stars if possible. They continue to give me the run-around of when my vehicle will be finished. Please, please go anywhere but this place. They've had my vehicle for about a week and keep pushing my pick up date back. claiming the work "isn't finished" or "the technician got pulled off your vehicle." I don't understand what vehicle is more important than the one you are currently working on. My pick up date has now been pushed back TWICE. Alfred didn't even give me a reason my car wasn't done or a date my car would be finished, only saying "they needed a few more days" and also proceeded to tell me there was no manager I could speak to and I would have to call back another day when a manger is available. This place is unbelievable and definitely not professional. I'm paying a 4000$ fix and they can't even get the work completed. STAY AWAY I cannot stress that enough. read more

From the moment we walked in, guy with red hair at the front desk made it clear he had zero interest in being helpful or respectful. He was rude, dismissive, and incredibly lazy. What should've been a simple fix somehow turned into a bill of over $2,000 -- with zero explanation. When I asked for an itemized breakdown, red hair guy hesitated and acted annoyed, like I was inconveniencing him. Instead of printing anything out like a professional, he smugly said, "Well, you can look at my screen if you want?" Then, as he turned the monitor, he knocked my coffee all over the floor -- and didn't even flinch. No apology, no effort to help, just sat there like nothing happened. Thankfully, his colleague got up and apologized and even offered to replace my coffee, while red hair guy stayed glued to his chair like it wasn't his problem. The worst part? The price kept changing. First, it was around $1,400. Then, suddenly, it jumped to over $2,100 -- apparently because of "labor." $500 for parts and $1,600 for labor? Really? The whole thing felt shady, like they were making it up as they went. This place feels like a scam, and red hair guys attitude is a huge red flag. He clearly doesn't care about doing his job or treating customers with basic decency. If you value your time, money, or sanity -- take your car anywhere else. Went to have a tire plugged. Said the could do it immediately. Waited 1 hour then the manager tried to sell me new tires. I told him just plug the tire. Waited another 40 minutes to get that done. After i got the car and started driving it i realized then never put the air in the tire that was just plugged. They tore abort the wrench and release for the lugs nuts and never put them in the correct spot in the car. They just threw them in the back of the vehicle. Stay away. read more

I brought my Honda to Pep Boys in Cinnaminson NJ, on 08/16/25 for the break system light that is on in my dashboard. I was charged $970.26, to change all 4 Rotors and brakes, yet the original issue was never fixed. Despite assurances that the work would resolve the problem, my car still has the same issue. They have the nerve to call me three times asking me to change my tires. They don't know what they are doing over there, they are a, they are collecting money, unable to provide the car service we need from them. read more

I went today, Sunday the 23rd, to the Pepboys in CINNAMINSON, NJ, to get my truck's tire repaired. I asked the clerk if I had to wait or if they would call me. He told me to wait, and I waited an hour and a half. I asked them why they didn't tell me to wait from home, and they responded that they were very busy, as if my time wasn't important either. DO NOT GO HERE! If I could give 0 stars I would. I had all 4 brakes and my front rotors done in end of January. I paid over $1,000.00. Almost instantly they were squeaking a little, but I though it was because they were new. Then about 2 weeks ago they started grinding and my front wheels were completely black from all the brake dust. I brought the car back in today and the manager Alfred called me and said that the rotors had deep grooves in it and that they had to be replaced. First he said maybe a stone got stuck in it. I said wouldn't that be strange to have a stone stuck in both of them to cause deep grooves in both? He said "yah I guess but don't worry because it's covered under warranty, there would be no charge". I got a call back about 5 minutes later from Alfred and he said that he looked into it and the rotors they put in, in January were not "good rotors" and they needed to put "better" rotors on so it would not happen again and it would cost me $57.00 each rotor. After I tried explaining that was ridiculous since I just had them done less than 5 months ago and I should not have to pay anything more since obviously something was faulty or not done correctly. He said there was nothing he could do and they were probably just trying to save me money so I shouldn't be upset with them trying to help me. I was never offered any choice with the rotors I purchased in January and there should be no way that any rotor would go bad in less than 5 months! Alfred was condescending and rude to both me and my husband and not apologetic at all. When my husband called Alfred said they probably used those rotor because there was a sale going on. If Pep Boys seriously uses ANY rotors that only last for less than 5 months, there is something seriously wrong with that. I have driven less than 6000 miles since they were replaced. I missed time from work in January to bring my car there and pick it up and had to pay for rides to and from and then missed more time today and had to pay for rides both ways again. This should never happen and to say their customer service was awful is not a strong enough word! I will never go there again. When brought to their attention they offered to break down and replace the stems, but I purchased new tires that when broken down can experience bead damage and/or potential sidewall weakening! As my spontaneous nature would suggest, most if not all of my visits to this venue has been on a walk-in basis. Wilson has helped me each and every time that I'm due for an oil change. He doesn't hesitate to patiently answer my dozen or so questions at every visit. I've posed questions about the need for certain services and unlike other venues I've never felt like he's trying to sell me a product that I don't need. He gives me my options, the different price points and explains whatever I don't understand. As a new car owner and a mile wide knowledge gap I appreciate the sincerity and service I feel like I get here. Just a point: I do agree with others that some of the merchandise is on the expensive side here. I would only suggest getting something while it's on sale unless it's emergent. Make sure to ask the team about possible rebates and/ or coupons. Overall they are quite knowledgeable about ways to help you save. read more

It was here in this very store that I figured out how to determine which oil I needed for my car, here that I came back after forgetting to purchase a filter. But when I blew out 3 tires (don't ask) and ended up with bent rear wheels, one of the mechanics should have said," Lady, they both need replacing." I don't appreciate cutting corners to keep it cheap. Sure, I don't have a ton of cash, but I want a safe car. I also love my car, and Lucy deserves wheels in good condition. Instead, it was hard to get information from anyone at Pep Boys as I called to check Lucy's status throughout the day. On my lunch break, I was told the rear driver's side wheel was cracked from the inside, that it'd be sealed. When I picked her up that evening, I asked how long she'd make it before I needed to replace the wheel and said I planned to drive to Maryland in 2 days. Guy at the register says, she's safe, she's all fixed. You're fine. My ass, she was fixed. Somehow, I made it to Maryland where my knowledgable hobby car-builder friend lives. Overnight, both rear tires lost 2/3 their air pressure. My friend told me that if I'd hit any major holes on my way down, the crack would've grown despite the seal--which I kind of figured, but this professional at Pep Boys said I was all right. And because they had used the wrong tool to tighten the nuts on wheels I would never have been able to get things fixed if I'd ended up stranded on teh side of the road. It took all my 200-some-odd pound friend's energy and nifty tool leverage to losen them. Awesome. Glad I made it to Maryland. Pep Boys on 130 won't see my car in their garage ever again, I can garuantee that. read more

My car needed two new tires, an oil change and a light bulb replaced. I left the car and came back to pick it up later in the day; when I started it I noticed it was sluggish but it did turn over. The clock was reset back to 12:00 so it appeared the battery was disconnected. Anyway, the car did start and I reset my clock and drove home. Next day the car would not turn over. I called and spoke to Doug who got defensive and told me there was nothing they did that would cause the battery to discharge and certainly would not have disconnected the battery to replace a light bulb. He told me my battery was probably dying anyway and it was a coincidence that it failed or started to fail in their parking lot. I should bring it back in and they could sell me a new battery. I called a friend who had at one time worked for Pep Boys. He told me to check the battery cables as sometimes the mechanics do take off the battery off line (cables were tight); he also told me it was likely the car was left in the start position while they worked on the car, and they drained the battery. He suggested I recharge the battery (I have a battery charger..) overnight to see if that does the trick. My friend was right; the battery is fine and needed a charging..the car was obviously left on with the engine off and the battery did discharge. The extremely poor customer service I got and lack of willingness to be accountable will keep me from ever going back. I suggest you find an alternative to Pep Boys... read more

Wen't to get a simple oil change and was called to say I needed an emergency complete front brake package as well. The shop mechanic wanted me to leave my car there to get it fixed right away before going to pick it up. I declined and got a second opinion from our family mechanic shortly after, who confirmed it was a LIE and my breaks were fine. Our family mechanic also found a back brake fluid leak instead that had been overlooked. Dishonest service like this where mechanics try to charge you for unnecessary, overpriced services, while failing to notice real problems when happening, will not make me want to come back here again or recommend this place to friends. This morning my mother's car got a flat tire. She made it to this service station around noon and was told that she would be the next person helped. At one she asked if her car was going to be looked at soon, and was told that it was scheduled to go in next. The person she talked to could not explain why she had been told the same thing an hour ago. It wasn't until three that someone took a look at her car. Worst company to get car work done. I came in to get a rear brake job,sway bar link and car alignment. After job job car worst sounding 10x worst and alignment terrible. I mention it right away and they said that there no way to find out until noise gets worst or we should replace shocks. I went to another mechanic shop and the sway bar link was extremely lose not tighten and alignment was off by alot. The mechanic also mention front brakes are good and most likely rear brakes did not need to be replace. Pepboys charge me over 450 dollar worth of work for no reason. Please do not ever go to pepboys looking for a mechanic. Worst mistake I did, they will just find any reason to charge you alot. read more

My vehicle rear bumper was scratched up when I picked up my vehicle and no one gave me any explanations how it happened. The maintenance required light was never reset, the filter was never changed. Gave them the benefits of the doubt and made an appointment for my mother's car. They did the say to her. Never reset the maintenance light and told my mother that it was an electronic issue with her car and need to be placed on the machine to check her car. And she had to pay roughly $60.00 to do so. She went to different pepboys and they were able to reset the light because they never did. Trying to take money from her for no reason. Please stay away from the pepboys at Cinnaminson. My dad purchased a car battery online, went through with the payment and even printed the confirmation page. I went to the store to pick it up for my dad, with the printed payment confirmation, and was told it wasn't paid for yet and that they needed me to swipe the card still. I had to drive all the way home to get the card and then drive back. No where online or on the printed confirmation does it say that the card is necessary for pick up. And the more upsetting part is that the employees there, Clarence and Dachota, were very rude and pretty much laughed in my face because I had to drive home and back. Their attitude was "sucks to be you." And when I returned to the store Dachota showed up to the register eating out of a huge bag of chips which just showed how little she cares about seeming professional in front of customers. Today I went into this store just to get some parts for my car. However when I went in, there was an older gentlemen present who I heard introduce himself as Greg. I'm not sure if he was some sort of higher up doing a routine store check up, or just one of the store's employees, but never before in my life have I ever seen someone treat their coworkers so badly. As someone who has worked in the retail business for years, I understand that running a store requires teamwork. However, this man essentially bogarted everyone's time when I was there. I was in a hurry, and I couldn't get anyone to help me because this man was keeping them from whatever they are supposed to be doing. I even noticed the one girl was in tears, and though my sympathy does go out for her, I needed some help and they were unable to give it to me at that moment. I wound up simply leaving and driving over to the Edgewater store where I was given excellent customer service. I'm not rating the Cinnaminson's store's customer service, since they didn't have the chance to help me at the time. I don't think it is right for a company that supposedly puts the customers first, to allow us to be ignored in favor of everyone having to cater to what seemed like one man throwing his weight around. I'm giving such a low rating to the company itself, not this store in particular, for even allowing such a blatant disrespect of their employees to be allowed. I brought my car here a couple weeks ago to get a quick oil change done. In an attempt to up sell, they called me and told me they checked my air filter as well as my lights and advised me to have them replace numerous things in addition to the oil change. I told them I would take it to my regular mechanic for additional work and to just take care of the oil. After picking up my car I noticed that my car wasn't gearing properly, I wasn't able to accelerate past 2 RPMs on route 130 (which was terrifying may I add) I then brought it to my mechanic who said the air filter wasn't put back in its place after they checked it and as a result my air intake boot was ripped. Absolutely never again will I bring my car to this place. This is the second issue I've had with them in the last year...fool me once shame on you, twice shame on me. read more

My daughter called on a cold winter day to tell me her car was "smoking" so rather than monkey around with it below freezing temperatures, I had her drop it off here. They called to tell me it had a leaky hose, which made sense so I told them to do it. After charging an outrageous price to replace an upper radiator hose and 2 clamps which could not have taken more than 10 minutes, the car was returned...still smoking! After looking at it a few minutes it was clear to me that the smoke was oil, not coolant and the valve cover gasket was leaking. Later the mechanic even admitted he knew it was still smoking and he gave it back anyway! To their credit, they agreed to replace the gasket for only the cost of the gasket, but I doubt there was a problem with the cooling system. If that's where it ended I may be able to write it off to a poorly trained mechanic with a bad attitude, but when we got the car home and noticed a large dent in the rear door, my daughter and I were not so willing to let it go. After bringing it to their attention, they claimed they looked at the video surveillance of the parking lot and saw nothing so they denied it was their fault. Since the car was there over night and all day, I doubt very much they watched that much video. The thought of the bad attitude genius mechanic driving it for a test drive also brings up anther possible source of the damage. So, enough is enough. I won't be trusting Pep Boys for so much as wiper blades anymore. They have not earned my business. read more

My truck was making a noise that came and went so I wasn't sure if it was the brakes, suspension, u-joints or something worse. To top it off, I just became a first time father and my wallet is practically empty. When I dropped my truck off, I honestly did not expect the kind of service I received. First, Wilson (customer service) called me to come in and look at what was causing the problem. The mechanic (Cliff) showed me the failed parts ( brakes) and gave me several options that fit my budget. Second, they went out of their way to discount parts and labor plus threw in a free tire rotation, plus they have a military discount. Last but not least when I picked up my truck the noise was gone and my budget was in tact. Thank you Pep Boys. I had scheduled an appt online for an oil change for 5pm on Wednesday, January 7th. When I arrived I was told that the online schedule doesn't work and it'll take about an hour or more before they can even start on it and I told them I couldn't get a ride back home so they told me they can call me later that day when they can do it. I ran errands while waiting then headed home. I called them 5 mins before closing time to see what had happened and no one answered. I called them back on Thursday and explained the situation and made an appt for Friday January 9th @ 5. I am currently still here. Two hours had passed since I checked in when they told me it'll only be 45 mins to an hour and it was well over that point. I asked if my car was almost done and they said they haven't started on it yet. I explained that they told me it would only be 45 mins to an hour and I have now been waiting 2 hours. He simply handed my paperwork to another employee and said I understand and dismissed me to speak with another customer. I wanted to let everyone here know what a great experience I had at Pep Boys. My brakes were squeaky and my light was on so I took it to get looked at. Turns out I needed new brake pads and other things. I was pretty upset because I don't have a lot of money but I am taking a trip in a few days and needed it done. Everyone was nice to me there, and respectful. I got frequent updates, and always referred to as "Mrs. Jessica". When they said my car would be ready at a certain time, there were spot on each time. Unfortunately, when I went to pick my car up, all of a sudden my battery light came on and the mechanic said my alternator needed to be replaced. At this point I was in tears because I spent pretty much all I had to fix the brakes and was trying to use my money to plan my son's 1st birthday. I wish I knew his exact title, but Wilson (I think he's the new store manager?) was very comforting. He went above and beyond for me, and even gave me a ride home since my ride had left me. Bright and early the next day he called and told me he was able to find me a cheap (yet reliable) alternator and he was even waiving the service fee which nearly cut my bill in half. My car is good as new now and I am just so touched with Wilson's compassion and customer service. I hope to never have to go to a mechanic again for my car, but if I do, I know where I'll go!! read more

Getting ready to head to Niagara Falls when on Fri my truck started making really bad noises on the driver side front wheel area, Called Pep Boys and talked to a mechanic named Jamie who treated me great the last time in. He suggested I bring my truck in on Sat and he would look at it. Found out it was the hub bearing he told me when it would be done and gave me a fair price for the repair. Told me the other side had a little play in it but it would be fine for now. I thank Jamie and Pep Boys for the way they treated me. And Jamie A. who saved my vacation!
