    This review is for the following pepboys location: 598 NJ-38, Maple Shade, NJ 08052. Went to get an alignment and to replace 2 rear bald tires. Alignment was not completed (readout attached). Instead of 2 rear tires, tech replaced 1 rear and 1 front tire. Thereafter, front desk called to inform that 2 other tires should be replaced as one of them was nearly bald (which was a rear tire) and tires had a different pattern. To top it off, tech recommended replacing rear drum brake pads that still have 75-80% of material on them. Of coarse pepboys "fine team" admits to no wrong doing and charged every penny for their "exceptional services".

    Brian and Matt at Pep Boys in Maple Shade are now my permanent mechanics for auto repair and maintenance. The accommodations and customer service by both gentlemen were outstanding and I would highly recommend them to anyone needing work in our area. And their waiting room is sweet. I will be back!     Horrible service. Rude techs, they take but cannot hold appointments from online to in person or on the phone. They have been short staffed for 2 years now and it's never their fault as they claim. Had to go back 6 times to get a break job corrected, still squeals and squeaks with new pads and rotors. Made appointment yesterday for today, showed up early and they couldn't take me at all. Purchased road hazard for tires but can't pull a nail and plug it so I have to go to a competitor. Save your time and money and go to your dealer or a local tech who knows what they are doing. After they said they could do nothing for me or even try to squeeze me in if I waited, they sent me on my way and suggested another pep boys, then as I'm reversing out of my spot someone walks up to my car and knocks on my window while I'm trying to talk to another shop. Don't waste more of my time and why in the world would you approach a moving car of a former customer that will never be back! Don't chase a customer down saying you "tried to call" you're not helping anything.

    They lied to me about the time it would take to repair a tire so they could sell me a new tire instead. I will never go there again.

Took my 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500 here initially looking for just an oil change and tire rotation. Upon my own consideration and talking with the crew- got a 100,000 mile makeover done, transmission pan drop and top off, oil, brakes, rotors, diff fluid, brake fluid, and a handful of odds and ends. Quoted me HALF of what the dealership wanted, made useful (but not pushy) suggestions, and ultimately left me in charge, not trying to upsell me whatsoever. Got it all done in 2 days as I was on a time crunch and couldn't be without a car long for work. I will absolutely be returning.

I have been going to Ward because they are close by and have high ratings, but after 2024 I will not be going back and I do not recommend anyone else give them their business. I took my car in to have 4 new tires put on back around September, which Ward did. However shortly after this I began to notice a rumbling/helicopter-like sound coming from under my car. I brought it back to them, they put it up on the lift and determined I needed a new front right tire rod. We replaced this for $500, immediately after I left the shop I noticed the noise even louder than before. I called them right back and explained that the issue was still there, the guy said he couldn't hear anything when he took it for a test, so I brought it back the next day and he said he could hear it now. They put it back on the lift, and told me it was my rear control arm causing the wobbling. This was after $800 on tires and $500 on the tire rod, Bob said they'd work with me to fix the control arm. When they got back to me with a quote it was almost double what they originally estimated. Bob Ward assured me that the wobbling was not a safety issue, and not an immediate repair. I had concerns because Christmas was around the corner and we would be traveling. They said it would be OK, it was safe to drive, and we could fix it after the holidays. On Christmas Eve as I'm driving my family to my mother's for dinner, my rear passenger tire came off -while we were driving-. It sheared clean off and rolled down the road, thankfully we were not on the highway and I was able to quickly pull over or it would have been a disaster. The tire rolled all the way down the street, thankfully no pedestrians were out at the time and oncoming traffic was able to avoid it. I had my girlfriend and child in the car at the time. I immediately called Ward and left an understandably angry voice mail. We called AAA who towed the car to a family members house who is also a mechanic. Both the AAA tech and my mechanic said they've never seen anything like this, and the only way for it to have happened was for the lugnuts to have been insanely overtorked when my tire was put on. When Ward called me back the day after Christmas to talk about what happened it seemed like the whole thing was an inconvenience for them. Bob didn't take any responsibility, tried to play it off even though they are the only ones to touch this car. When I started mentioning how he put my family and child in danger he rose his voice and said "Will you shut the **** up?!" ....Now I don't know if Bob is just losing it with old age or something, but when your business almost injures a family and the customer calls upset, you don't curse them out. Common sense. My mechanic fixed the whole issue for 150 bucks while Ward was happy continually having me come back in for work that not only did not solve my problem, but caused it. Update: they take no responsibility for any of this despite being my only mechanic for years, but did offer a whopping $150 to cover my mechanic fixing it in "good faith" that I declined.

Knowing my car is all wheel drive I knew this most likely meant 4 new tires; and I was correct. The process of getting the tires replaced was completely stress free, but that's where the positives stop. As a former Firestone employee I found it weird that at no point did anyone ask me about an alignment (to which I have a lifetime alignment on this vehicle). After picking up my car the tire light was still on so I called the shop and they told me to drive it a couple days and it should clear itself. After about a week the light was still on and when I called I was told to bring it in to be checked out, I went in Monday 3/2 but they were busy so I rescheduled for today 3/6. When I went in today I was told it would be $50 to check the sensors which I find outrageous since I just spent $930 2 weeks ago for tires. I was informed that they don't check tpms sensors when replacing tires which is a missed opportunity for an upsell if this sensor wasn't responsive prior to service because I would have replaced it while the tire was off; not to mention I believe a relearn procedure is available to reset the light along with a scanner which would have told them one of the sensors was not responsive. I do understand that these sensors have batteries and that they die but with nothing noted on my invoice about an unresponsive sensor I also can't be sure now that that sensor wasn't broken during the replacement. All I wanted was to find out what sensor wasn't working after I had spent a considerable amount of money at this location I feel like I'm being gouged for more money.

Two…read moredays ago while driving home from work I discovered that one of the two tires was flat and I needed roadside assistance. The side wall of the rear driver's side tire was damage and was unrepairable due to a cut or tear that was present. I called Mavis on route 73 in Maple Shade New Jersey and spoke with Mary. I explained my situation and also mention that I still have the paper work and receipt from the original tire purchase and that I live minutes away. She invited me to come to the service center and said "we will do what we can to help you". I entered the retail location and was greeted by Sam. I eventually presented the original papers and receipt from the Initial February purchase. I was originally offered the extended coverage plan for the tire purchase but declined. Mary and Sam told me that they would inspect the damaged tire and asses the situation. Mary and Sam ultimately replaced the damaged tire even though they were quite busy and it was almost closing time. Mary approached me in the customer waiting area and told me that she assessed the damaged tire which she deemed no longer usable and replaced it. She explained that I would not be required to pay for a new tire purchase and that I would just pay for the extended warranty to protect both tires in the event of any future problems as well as the balancing of the new tire and other standard fees that usually apply to a tire disposal fee. Mary and Sam provided me with memorable outstanding customer service and I would definitely come to them going forward for any car needs for which they offer service. THANK YOU MARY & SAM!!!

When I messaged the sales person who was working with me and asked for a true out the door price because I didn't want to waste anyone's time and wasn't going to buy if there was hidden fees involved, they completely ghosted me and stopped answering my calls. A few weeks later, I found another listing I was interested in. I paid a mechanic $200 to go and inspect the vehicle before I drove 2 1/2 hours there. I confirmed with the sales person several times that the vehicle I was interested in was available and ready for inspection from the mechanic I was sending, even up to a half hour before the mechanic arrived. When the mechanic arrived, they told him that the vehicle was in the body shop and he was unable to look at it or inspect it because the body shop was over an hour away. This just seems so suspicious and brings up so many red flags. I'm out my $200 now and I absolutely do not want to work with the dealership, especially after reading other reviews. I asked to speak with a manager because I wanted them to reimburse me for the $200 they lost me, He told me He would credit me $200 on another vehicle and that their best sales person AZ will call me back in a half hour. AZ Never called me back and I'll be taking them to small claims court for my $200.

They also ran my credit and took my information before giving final numbers. Information about the vehicle (condition and history) was not clearly disclosed. Do not deal with them. I will be filing complaints with the New Jersey Attorney General, New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs, Better Business Bureau (BBB), Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), and posting reviews on Google, Yelp, and DealerRater.
