Book an appointment for 10 am and did not get out of there until 1 pm. I asked for an oil change and tire rotation. They called me and said my car did not have an air filter. Funny because they replaced it on my last service. Had to wait because they had to get the air filter from O'Reillys. Once it arrived it was another 30 minutes. Came out to be $148 after my coupon. Told them that didn't sound right and they redid it and it was $128. Did not reset the maintenance required indicator or put a new sticker. Buyers beware! read more

The service manager Rich is not interested in helping. My battery died at Wawa just across the street. He said I'd need to tow it there because he wouldn't send a mechanic to give me a jump start. "It's policy" he said. So I asked to borrow a wrench so that I could remove the battery myself. He said no to that also. I walked around to the service bay where I found a nice mechanic that was happy to walk across the street with a jump box. It's the little things that make a difference. Went to the store just to get a tire repaired at 4:45 pm on a Sunday and the store closes at 6 pm. I figured that the job would take 30 minutes, right? I saw two mechanics at the bay just waiting for work. Instead, the manager actually told me if I was expecting to get something done today. I answered "well, yes!" Since it was a tire. He replied that one of the mechanics was leaving now and the other mechanic was not going to do it. Overall, to be my first time at this store I will make sure it was my last. I had my car towed up there after breaking down. They told me I needed a new battery when my battery was perfectly fine. After paying over $200 to replace my battery, I found out the problem was actually with my sensors. I was originally quoted one price to have them replaced and when I came back the following day, a different technician tried to charge me 3x the original quote. I wouldn't take my car to Pep Boys ever again and I don't recommend anyone else wasting their time or money with this business. read more

Had a nail in the tire of my car and took it here to get it fixed. Called them first to make sure they could get it done today and was told that yes they could and there was no wait. There were 5 people "working" at the register (not really since it wasn't busy) but only two working on service to cars. Technically only one was working, never saw the other do anything except stand around the whole time I was there. I waited for almost an hour then ended up asking for my tire back so I can take it somewhere else. I won't be going back there to use their service. read more

I don't think the mechanics at this location know what they are doing. I brought my vehicle in for a check engine light, and after two days, they finally completed the work that should have taken two hours. Worse, the vehicle ran horrible after they were done, and developed a rattle in the dash. I took it back, and they claimed it ran rough because it needed a tuneup. I was dealing directly with the service manager at this point. When I did not want to pay another $500 for the tuneup, they put things back together, but the vehicle would not start. They did a bit more work and it started, running on only 5 of 6 cylinders. I took it elsewhere, where they discovered a loose fuel injector causing one cylinder not to function (a quick fix). The rattle in the dash remains. What makes this especially bad is they called a couple days later to see how the service was. I repeated the above tale, and asked the manager of the store to call. No call after two weeks. So, they are incompetent, and they don't care -- a very bad combination. read more

in town for the winter 2020 , went in to have front brakes looked at , a guy came out looked down and said yep rotors where bad , and brakes and rotors would be around $400.00 out the door . I had two other mechanics look at them and both said the rotors where good , but they could not get to it until the first of the week so we went to parts store bought pads for around $30.00 and put them on our self in about 45 min. so use this place at your own risk. and get a second estimate . read more

Made an appointment, as early as possible, on 4th of July, right after I got out of work, the week before. Arrived at Pep Boys at 730am, 30 minutes before my appointment, and was told I only had one car in front of me and it should be about 45 minutes or so, so I sit and wait. It's 8:50 am, and I get up, hoping my car is completed, and see my car parked in the same spot I left it at. Spoke with the technician, that took my information and he told me they still weren't done with the ONE car that was in front of me, as I'm looking inside the shop and Im currently seeing THREE cars being serviced! I told the technician, if it was going to be longer than 30-45 minutes, I would have dropped off, since I worked the whole night! He offered my oil change for free, but I have a service package from the dealer, for both my cars! This was ridiculous, and a waste of my time and sleep! I will be taking my services and those of my close friends and family, back to the dealer or other shop! As I complete my review, I have sat here for a total of 1 and a half hours, for one simple oil change, in which I was second in line and arrived early for!! So much for their "service promise!" Update at 9:10am. A different technician hands me my paperwork and keys and tells me all is done. The original technician didn't even bother telling me any stats on the car, and wear and tear, like they normally do, just had someone else hand me my keys and papers. As I look at my paperwork, to see if anything needs further attention, I noticed they complimented the service! After I told them, I have a service package, that has ALREADY been paid for, and no compensation would come to me! Not only did they do that, but I'm also wondering if they even did an actual oil change! From the time I noticed my car at 8:50am, in the same spot, until they handed me my keys and paperwork at 9:10am, it had only been 20 MINUTES! Update... When I got home, I recounted the events to my husband. He got home from work, at 4:10pm, and notice our driveway was full of oil. He then proceeded to check underneath the car and noticed the leak from the "oil change..." Called pep boys at 4:25pm, and spoke with Azeez, the technician that handed me the paperwork and keys, this morning. Just brought the car back in, so they can adjust the issue, all the while, having my husband and children, wait on me, on our 4th of July holiday. The technician Azeez, was my only good experience! Untrustworthy My husband took our Acura in to have the oil changed, and the tires balanced and rotated. Soon afterward the dashboard warning light came on to indicate the need for an oil change. We thought maybe they had simply forgotten to reset the system. Then we noticed that the wheels were in the same locations as before. We took the car back in. They checked the oil, said it was fine and reset the computer. We asked them about the tires and when they took the car in to do that work, they couldn't even find our wheel lock remover for the rims. They had NOT done the work we paid for and said they had done. Not even an apology. Never going back! read more

Took my newly purchased Charger for a tire balance (without an appointment), due to mild wobbling at around 60 mph, with increasing intensity to 80mph . They started right away, and didn't take them long to have all 4 tires balanced. Very fair pricing, and my ride is very smooth now. read more

I was referred to this store by Tire Rack, I received my tires today Friday Jan 23 around 0530 and I called the store to find out if they could install the tires today, a salesman name Jovi told to come down right away because they had no customers on the shop. Upon my arrival about 20 minutes later, I explain one of the technicians there what I was there for and that I had spoken to JOVI and he told me to come down. Immediately the technician stated that he was not sure they could do 30 series tires for a corvette, that he understood that they did not have the equipment and he went into the store to find out. I went around the building and entered the store and spoke to the manager. The manager said that they could not do that type of vehicle, after I told him that TIRERACK had provided me their address and prices as one of their recommended installers, he said that normally they would do it but that he did not have a technician skilled to handle this type of specialty vehicle. The technician said they did not have the equipment and the manager said they did not have a skilled technician. Bottom line, I think PEP BOYS should let TIRERACK know that they do not install all types of tires ( I will also let them know) and the feeling I got was that it was about 0615 PM there were no customers on the shop, they have been doing nothing for a while and I brought them work, that apparently they were not willing to do. I called ahead, I was referred by TIRERACK, TIRERACK even suggested that I ship the tires to PEPBOYS for installation and yet they were not able to produce. Thank you for nothing. read more

If I could give them less then a star I would. Took my wife's Town and Country in over a month ago for a burning smell coming from the front driver side wheel well, and they came back stating the rear brakes, rotors, and hoses needed to be replaced which would cost over $800. They never addressed the burning smell. I knew something wasn't right and asked them to put the van back together, and I'm going to get a second opinion. I spoke with the service manager who defended what his technician found wrong with the brakes, but I asked him why they said the rear brakes were fine when they replaced our front brakes in February, and he said the brakes went bad between February and now. I called BS. Took my van home and found fluid leaking on our garage floor and popped the hood. Saw that the coolant level was below normal, so went out and bought some to fill it. Took the van for a ride around the block and popped the hood to find coolant leaking from the main hose onto the engine causing the burning smell. Took the van to Tires Plus and they had it fixed in an hour. Never go to this place since they tried to take me for a ride and now know our front brakes probably didn't need replaced in February and got scamed for over $400. read more

I will never take my car to this place again, ever! This place is terrible. I drove my car in with one problem that I was told would be repaired the same day. After two more days of promises (including those of the manager) I went to pick up my car to find it with broken radio knobs, split running board, missing loose change from a draw in the console, filthy and with mechanical problems it didn't have when I brought it in. I had taken the car in for a tune-up and to check on a knock in the suspension. Here's the kicker, my bill included a charge (which I refused to pay) for "diagnostic" work supposedly performed on the car. Oh, did I mention? I started the car to go home to lick my wounds but the car engine stalled even before I left their parking lot. I rarely (once or twice )submit reviews on commercial businesses, but when in today's email I find a notice from Pep Boys asking me to come in before my reward points expire, my anger flared. This Pep Boys is located in an area that includes a high percentage of retired seniors. I'm one of those senior citizen (Clermont FL is on Forbes 10 best places to retire for 2016). I live here, and I also think it is great place to retire. I'd like to keep it that way. . For this reason I submit this heads-up in the hope that it may serve to spare my neighbors from an ordeal at Pep Boys of Clermont. read more

This is the first time I have ever written about "Pep Boys", even though I am a very long time customer. This review is about the exceptional service I just received at the Hooks St. store. On Friday, November 7th I was getting ready for a Saturday morning trip from my home in Groveland to Miami when I noticed that the tires on my 2012 Jeep were wearing a bit thin. After +41,000 miles I decided it was time to get new tires and so I shopped around the tire dealers in my area for a set of Michelin Latitude Tour tires. Unbeknownst to me, my jeep takes a 16" tire; not the typical 17" most Jeep Liberty's use. None of the local dealers have that particular tire in stock, but could order them for a Saturday morning delivery. I finally settled on dealing with this Pep Boys store and was told the tires would be delivered on Saturday morning so we could begin our trip mid-day. When I called the store about 11AM I was told to come in. Although the tires were not in yet, they were expecting them very soon. We arrived at the store shortly thereafter. Dave, the service representative greeted me warmly and proceeded to have calls placed to find out about the time of delivery. He had no luck getting through. He then talked to his colleague, Curtis about the matter and was advised that this particular warehouse was closed on Saturday. A small, but solvable communication problem. I was planning on going to Miami on my existing tires and getting the new ones on Monday when I returned. Curtis decided to inspect my tires and came back with his opinion, based on the remaining tread depth that I might be OK if the weather was sunny and dry. But this weekend was supposed to be hit with continuous and very heavy rain. Curtis' advice and conviction that I not endanger my daughter and myself convinced me I needed another option. That came in the form of Stuart Rosenberg, the store manager. After considering multiple ideas we agreed that he, Stuart would personally go and pick up a set he had located about an hour away, return to Clermont and install the tires immediately on his return. I returned home and received a call from Dave that Stuart was not too far away so I should return. We did and a few moments later Stuart and the tires arrived. The old came off, the new went on and in short order I paid the bill and we were on our way. Yes, I was frustrated and our trip started a bit later than I wanted, but without this teamwork and the strong advice I received, there is an exceptionally good probability we would have been in a serious accident. I had to brake suddenly on the Florida Turnpike, and these tires were as promised. We stopped rapidly and didn't skid all over the place. There is a great team there, Stuart, Curtis and Dave. My van overheated and I thought it was a radiator hose. Made an appointment at this location and had my van flat bedded there. I told them to replace all the hoses and clamps, radiator cap and coolant. I received a call from a very nice gentleman named Aziz, telling me that the hoses were all fine and that it was a heater hose that had broken. He ordered the part for me and I picked up my van the next day. Aziz was not there when I picked up my van, but Stuart took care of me. I have nothing but good words for this location. I had tires put on last year and was thoroughly pleased with everyone and nothing has changed. I would recommend this Pep Boys for friendly, considerate customer service. read more
