I checked online price and it was $40 cheaper than if I would have gone into the store. I called to make sure the tires were in and asked the price. So I purchased online and set up the appointment. On Wednesday August 23rd, I decided to make an appointment at pepboys to get my tires changed. Little did I know that a simple job would take hours. For one, why is it that I made an appointment at 1:30pm, and it's 3:30pm and I'm still sitting here? That makes zero sense. The floors are absolutely disgusting, the AC sucks, and the customer service is horrendous. Almost 80% of the window blinds are broken as well. Update - I was contacted by corporate to put us in touch with management at the location that begrudgingly refunded the air filter and labor as they weren't requested. In the shop they were willing to refund the labor but their reasoning was that well the air filter was already put in. As far as I was concerned they could have just taken it out and refunded it. Either way it was not useful to anyone anymore as it is used. And the end they did do the right thing and we were happy with that as this is more of what I expect from pep boys. If we do come back here we will be much more careful and make sure everything is in writing especially when changes are made. So here we are we had to take the Jeep back in once again. Brakes were feeling a bit spongy and I figured it needed a master cylinder. They checked it out and told us it needed the master cylinder along with the front brake job. We told them we'd come in because I wanted to take a look at it. We went in and they took us to the vehicle and I double check the brakes and we went back to the counter. They went over the prices for everything and I told them to just do the master cylinder. None of the other work that they were suggesting. I told them that I could take care of the other work so only the master cylinder was needed. We were told okay and they text and estimate of how long it would take to get the part and get it together. They notified us the next morning that the vehicle was ready and we went in and picked it up. The brakes were much improved. At home I took care of the front brake pads and rotors and we were very satisfied with everything that had happened, except. When they had quoted us they told us that needed a new air filter which I had not okayed. While we were picking up the rotors we also picked up an air filter. When I went to change the air filter one of the clips from the housing was missing and the clamps for the hoses that connect had not been tightened.. Plus there was a brand new air filter. I put everything back together and tightened everything minus the missing clip. We checked the receipt and realized they had charged roughly $42 to replace the air filter. This did not make us happy but since the work is done I figure there's not much we can really do. They were only verbally told what to do so we're stuck footing the bill of $42 for an air filter that was less than half that price to purchase ourselves. Needless to say we will not be going back here for more service. We'll go back to looking for some place else that hopefully can deliver a better quality of service. read more

After listening to reason, she decided she didn't want to repair, but was told the engine was already ordered. If we cancelled, we would have to pay shipping to the store and return as well as a restocking fee. I asked if we could have the contact information of the engine provider. The man we were dealing with told me I was being confrontational all I wanted was the information. He refused me the information. I had a terrible experience at the Pep Boys at the Clermont location (950 Hooks St, Florida). I placed an online order for tires and scheduled an appointment, but when I arrived, to pay the salesperson tried to overcharge me despite showing proof of my online order and claimed that my order wasn't in the system. The salesperson refused to contact a manager, leaving me no choice but to call the police to address the issue because he would not release my car until I paid the higher price. Once the police arrived the salesperson tried to cancel my order that he claimed he could not find. This level of dishonesty and lack of customer service is unacceptable. When I arrived at 9:50 I was told the oil change would take an hour and they would get me in by 10:20. Brought my car in for a simple fix. my driver side door handle was loose so i brought it in to be tightened. 5 hours later right before they closed I came in demanding my car as they tried to tell me (a young female) that there were a bunch of parts bent and broken in my door and they would need to keep it over night and charge me $250 for maybe a $40 part and what would've been maybe a 30 minute job. i asked for my car back and they returned it to me in worse condition. I found out a little after noon that my son's tire had a slow leak and he needed the car for the next day. I was able to make an appointment for 4pm that day. The attendant was able to look at the tire soon after I got there and discovered a nail. Unfortunately, it was located in an area that made a repair impossible. I got a very fair quote for a new tire and since he said he could replace it that day, I decided to have them replace the leaking one. On a whim, I asked if they might also be able to do an oil change and a wiper replacement at the same time. He said that he could. They performed all the work in less than two hours at a good price. I am very happy with the work performed. They were responsive to my needs and were cost-competitive. I would highly recommend them. read more

My AC in my car had been running hot, so we took my car to this location to have it evaluated. They determined there was a leak in my AC system, but apparently it was in a hard to reach area and they also discovered an issue with my brakes that needed to be addressed. They said to fix these it would be around $2K. My husband and I hadn't had the funds for this at the time, so we saved up our money for a couple of weeks and then brought my car back to this location on a later date to have the issues addressed. We dropped off the car that morning when they opened, and received a call around 5:30pm that same day indicating the car was ready. The next morning, I drove my husband over to pick up the car, and he drove it back to our house (which is about 1.5 miles from this Pep Boys location), where it stayed in our driveway for the rest of the weekend. On Monday morning, I got in my car to drive to work, and went to plug my cell phone into the USB port of my car so that I could listen to Pandora and hear my GPS through my car stereo, but the USB port was not working. It wouldn't charge my phone, and it wouldn't play my music. This was never an issue before I dropped my car off at Pep Boys, but it was a minor annoyance, so I started my drive and figured I would have my husband call the location once they were open about the issue. Once I got on the highway, I went to set my cruise control, and the buttons would not work. None of my cruise control buttons would work nor would any of the other buttons on my steering wheel. This was a big problem because I rely heavily on cruise control during my daily commute. Again, this was never an issue prior to dropping my car off at the location on Friday, so clearly this was something that occurred as a result of the service that was performed on my car. My husband called the Pep Boys Location and they scheduled him to bring in the car for that coming Friday. Between Monday and Friday, I also discovered that my buttons on the car would not work for me to be able to access my trunk. I had no way of opening my trunk, and again this was not an issue prior to the service Pep Boys performed on my car. When Friday came, my husband again dropped off my car when the store opened. It was Saturday afternoon when my husband received an update via phone call from Pep Boys. The person on the phone told my husband that they were able to fix the issue causing the trunk to not be able to open and the USB port to not work, but that they were going to need to order a part in order to fix the issue with the cruise control and other buttons on the steering wheel. They stated that this would be costing us $700.00. My husband then stated that we would not be paying for something to be fixed that was caused from services this location performed on the car, and the person on the other end of the phone argued with him saying the only way the issue would be fixed by them is if we paid. My husband then asked to speak to a manager, and the person on the phone said "I am one of the managers". We were out to lunch, so my husband said he would call back later. We were both extremely furious at the lack of customer service shown by this company, and decided we would just go pick up the car, because there is absolutely no way we will be paying one cent to the location that caused the issues to my car in order to have it fixed. My husband and I have both worked in the customer service industry for a decade, and we realize mistakes happen, but it is the duty of the employees, managers, and company to acknowledge when they have made a mistake, and do what they can to correct it and make it right for the customer. This location did not acknowledge their mistake or even care - they just wanted to squeeze more money out of us. If this is how the brand treats its customers, then we no longer have trust in the Pep Boys Brand, and will likely never be returning to Pep Boys in the future. I will eventually need to get my cruise control fixed, but if I need to pay more than one cent for it, I guarantee you I will be taking it to somewhere other than Pep Boys. read more

Might be a bit of a rant but I had to have my car towed on Saturday cause unfortunately it died (2014 Honda Accord). Had it taken to Pep boys off of Sunrise and was hopeful to get the problem(s) fixed. Well in a way they did get fixed but that wasn't without having more problems added to the mixer. Of course I'm no mechanic of my own cause otherwise I wouldn't be here writing this and I'd probably be a lot more happier and less in debt. I will give it to them that they at least got my car to turn on which was an improvement compared to it not even letting me use the key to unlock the car and having to do it remotely. On Saturday I spent a couple of hours there (the shelf's they have at the store are almost ALL empty with some batteries and a stand of windshield wipers and some tires) they told me they'd call when my car was ready which would be between 3 and 4pm that day, got charged $1,800 for : a new alternator to be installed, a new battery, a replacement valve cover gasket (which is what caused the whole issue to start) and an oil change. I was informed that the oil leak cause the alternator to shorten out which killed my battery. I understand inflation is a thing and the prices have gone up but that price that I was given of course shocked me. Unfortunately that's not where things end, after calling them around 5pm that same day because I never received any from them I finally got my car. When I went to turn it on it did take a bit and I know that the battery got replaced so that was expected on my end, what wasn't expected on my end was the four new warning signs on my dashboard telling me that :my engine, traction, steering wheel and tire pressure needed to be checked which I should add that before I went in those weren't issues I was having- granted my issue was my car not even turning on to begin with. Anyway I called them the next day as they closed @7 and I was already done with them for that day, they told me to bring my car in whenever I could and they'd inspect the problem. Well Wednesday my fiancé brings my car in to them and after hours of him being there they tried to charge him $1,866 for an engine light code pull (they said the part itself was worth about $1,234 itself) they made sure to also tell him that they didn't cause this to happen and that it was just unfortunate timing that these two problems happened back to back, they inspected my car when I took it in the first time and didn't say there were any other problems with the car. Genuinely it feels like this whole thing was a scam, I personally don't know if those prices are actually accurate but anyone I've talked to said I was overpriced. I personally just don't recommend coming here from my experience but if you can afford to - hats off to you. read more

both my husband and I have been taking our vehicles to Pep Boys for nealy 10 years- when I had a slight issue with my exhaust pipe, I made an appointment and brought it to them. The intake service person was just one step above rude and was not listening to my concerns. I waited over an hour for an estimate after they inspected it, and then the estimate came back at 2400.00 because they didn't address the issue but said the whole entire system needed replacement, which was not necessary. I told them to drop it off of the lift, no repair and I would address the issue myself. I take my vehicles to a mechanic because is time consuming and Easier- not because I don't have the knowledge to fix it myself- I was brought up in racing and know my way around a vehicle- I have worked along men as we rebuilt engines and never have I ever been treated like I was stupid. Anyway I took my car to another reputable shop in the area- they listened and we went over the area in question together. I gave my opinion for the fix and they agreed- final cost was $198.00. This is THE WORST experience I have ever had with any store, shop, well anything. I went in because my car wasn't working properly, which I already knew it was most likely a problem with my spark plugs. They tried to charge me almost $5000 for a new motor, all because of SPARK PLUGS. Not only did they try to basically rob me, but after paying their "fee" to just check my car they didn't even have the decency to put my car together properly. I drove over something in the road last night that punctured one of my tires & ended up with a flat. It was hissing like an angry cobra and air was leaking out rapidly so I knew a plug wouldn't hold it. I was hoping to find a tire place open the next day, as luck would have it, of course a Sunday, to be able to replace it. I went in to this Pep Boys location this morning, after calling and speaking to Hector, to make sure they had the tire I needed in stock. He said they would fit in my tire replacement and to come in as soon as possible. I honestly don't know why there are bad reviews for this place. I called ahead to make sure they had the tire in stock and could do the work, so it wouldn't be a wasted trip. Hector was very professional and since I was waiting for my car, he fit it in as soon as possible and I was out in a little over an hour. I was impressed with the service and asked if I could bring my own oil and filter for future oil changes, since most places won't allow that. He said yes, so think I've found my new oil change location too. I had an unplanned emergency and expense with a flat tire, and I was thankful they were open on a Sunday and able to get my repair taken care of quickly and professionally. It's hard to shop around for a repair on a Sunday when many places are closed. I feel I got great service at a reasonable price. I highly do not recommend pep boys. I blew my tire out last week and went there to get it fixed. I was straight up LIED to my face about my tires. I booked an appointment and they said they had no one to do my tires but brought in 2 walk ins to get there tires fixed. I asked an hour after my appointment why my car wasn't in the shop yet and they thought it was just a drop off when I told them the day before I was going to wait for my car. I was then overcharged and lost my AirPods in the Lyft they got me after myself and my father complained to them multiple times. Now I'm told there is no way they can contact the Lyft or even give me the money they over charged me. Now I'm out extra money for my tires and to personally replace my AirPods. Waiting patiently, I returned to the desk an hour and 20 minutes later, my car still where I had parked it. I asked the guy at the counter what was the status. He went to the back and came back, "maybe about another 45 minutes" I asked for my keys back and asked what was the point in making appointments if they aren't going to be honored. I took my truck in to get new tires and alignment less than a year ago because the previous tires had uneven wear due to being out of alignment and making a whining noise plus they were worn. Bought 4 new tires and an alignment from pep boys. Fast forward about 6 months and the whining noise is back. I make an appointment with them and waited over 2 hours for them to look at it. They told me the noise was the wheel bearings. My truck has less than 50k miles on it so it's almost impossible for the wheel bearings to go bad this soon since they last between 80k and 100k miles. I told that to the manager" Carlos and he said it could possibly be the differential fluid and that he would call me with a quote on changing it. He never called so I called him FOUR days in a row afterwards and he finally quoted me $385. I ended up doing the job myself for under $50 and in less than 30 min. The noise is still there. Seems to me they didn't do a proper alignment when they put the new tires on and don't want to admit their mistake. I checked the bearings myself when I changed the rear differential oil and there was no play at all in the bearings. Will not be a returning customer. read more

I've been a loyal Pep Boys customer for years, so anytime my car needs work this is where I take it. I find I come here because of their customer service more than anything. They don't speak down to me or expect me to know what they're talking about when it's clear I know nothing about cars (I'm talking about you Tire Kingdom!). The guys at Pep Boys look me in the eye and explain in basic English what they can do to help me with my car (Thank you Jeff!). They aren't perfect, I came in for a new alternator once and left with my AC not working but it was fixed the next day. They always tell me 3 other things my car needs, that aren't always necessary but I'm sure I'll find that anywhere I go. I like that it's easy to make a reservation online to get work done around your schedule. I don't love their prices. They can be expensive, $400 for front brakes is a little much. They generally try and work out some type of deal if I completely balk at it and while it might be all part of the ploy, I appreciate it none the less. If you plan on bringing your car here I'd recommend being part of their loyalty club because they end up sending some great coupons that you can't find on their website. They do have coupons on there too so double check before you go. read more

If I could give them 0 stars I would! The two service advisors behind the counter were talking bad in Spanish about a previous customer. Which by the way, they took a good 6-7 min, while I waited. What they didn't know is that I speak Spanish also. Of course, they were startled when they found out I understood every word they said... I asked if they cut disk rotors (was doing the disk service myself), so the gentleman walked to the back of my wife's car to look at the disk rotors. What is incredible that he was able to tell, with his naked eye, that the rotors could not be resurfaced... and that they were too thin. He then tells me that there is another store, down the road, that might be able to help me. I did go to the other store and the disk were resurfaced with plenty of space for the specification of my vehicle. If they didn't want my service, they should have said from the beginning, "get out, we don't want your business." Fine my days of going to any Pep Boys Auto or Store are over! read more

I made an appointment to have my car looked at this morning. I just needed the latch replaced on the trunk of my car and it was stated in my appointment form what I was there for. I showed up for my appointment 15 minutes early. It took them 40 minutes to check me in with only two people in front of me. Once it was my turn to go up to the front desk the man walked away without saying a word. When he returned he stated he needed to put information in the computer before he could help me. When he was done he finally took my keys. He did not ask me any questions about why I was there. He just took my keys and walked out the door. When he returned he assumed I was there for an oil change. That felt incredibly sexist. He just assumed and did not read my appointment form. When I corrected him and told him why I was there he informed me that there were no mechanics working today. So therefore he could not fix my car. I wasted an hour of my time just standing there to be told I could not have my car fixed even though I had an appointment stating why I was coming. The man behind the front desk did not care. He just shrugged his shoulders and moved onto the next customer. Very unprofessional and unacceptable. I will not be returning to this location. read more

I would agree with the other reviewer I would give them 0 stars if I could. I called them all up in the morning and asked if they had any LEDs for a Dodge Challenger in stock. Everybody who reads my yelp reviews knows that I am not one to bash a business or employees but on the other hand this is a totally different case. The sales associate that was on the phone with me told me they have them in stock and that if I came to the store he would have no problem selling me the LEDs. I then verified that they had the LEDs that I had saw on their website and I went over the make and model of my vehicle with the guy on the phone. The sales associate assured me that they had them in the store so I headed in to this Pep Boys. When I got to the store however the sales associate told me that they did not have the lights that I wanted in stock. He also told me that he didn't know that I was going to be coming in the store today. I specifically told him on the phone if they have these LEDs in stock that I would drive to the store and leave my place in the next five minutes to get these LEDs. I was extremely annoyed at the fact that I called in advanced and asked him if he had these lights in stock I was a 45 min drive away. so that I did not waste part of my day driving all the way out to the stupid Pep Boys to go get lights. I probably was extremely rude to him but he wasted probably half of my day I'm driving all the way out to Orlando for the stupid lights that they didn't even have in stock. I got all the way back out to my car and I turned around and I went back in there and I kind a look but I have it because he really pissed me off. I asked to speak to the manager and he told me that he was the manager which I have a feeling that it was complete crap. There is an advanced auto parts across the street I went over to advance auto parts and they told me that they have the exact lights that I have been looking for I ended up going to advance auto parts in purchasing the lights. I will never go back to this Pep Boys and I hope that nobody goes to this Pep Boys because they obviously have extreme Remely bad customer service and they do not care about anybody that they do business with. I earlier posted a review about having to wait for 3 hours while the service department did nothing, well, after they replaced the brakes on the car, the noise the new brakes made was / is horrible. We were no longer in the same area, so went to another Pep Boys to get the problem solved. The service response was much better in Sarasota, but the conclusion was that they found no problem with the brakes. However, more than 6 weeks after the original service, the brakes still sound much like a dying cat. They said it was normal for the first few days, but 6 weeks? and I have been a car owner for over 40 years, and the sound they are making is NOT NORMAL.
