Don't bother using their online appointment system. No one will call you if there's no tech available for your issue. I needed an AC tech so I booked an appointment. I drove 30 min just to be told "our tech is not here today". Remove the options, if there's no tech OR give a curtesy call to the customer to let them know. I only give this place a one star. Because the guy at the counter was really nice. But at the same time I feel like they tried to get over on me. I took my car to autozone. And I found out that 1 of my cylinders wa's mis-firing. When I got it to Pep Boys after explaining everything to the guy clearly he suggested. And after running all of his staff due to the computer tried to suggest that everything for the work that I need to done with the $1800. I told him that was not necessary. I had just had one done. The part only cost me $70. I paid no more than $200 to get this work done. He tried to say that it would take 4 hours to do something. I know would never take that much time. Halfway through our drive to Hilton Head, our truck started to overheat. Thinking we just needed coolant, I googled car parts stores and the closest one was this Pep Boys. And it was a good thing we came here because as it turned out, we had a bigger problem than just coolant and we needed to have the truck serviced. They apparently had a 2-3 hour wait time to even get someone to look at it. After we explained that we were on the way to the beach, they said they would see what they could do. Luckily they got us in right away, which was especially nice since we were travelling with our 2 dogs! As it turned out, we also needed a hose & temperature gauge. The mechanic seemed very knowledgeable and we were pleased with the work he did on the truck. All the other employees were super nice & helpful as well. In April, I was driving on I-77 to my grandfather's funeral when all of the sudden my tire went flat! This was a brand new Jeep Renegade and I was not expecting trouble so soon, much less at more emotional time. I called USAA Road Service and they said a Pep Boys was nearby and encouraged me to get to it, however, my tire was completely flat and I could not reach them. The manager, Michael, drove out to me to help me change my tire. Only to find out that I didn't have a spare thanks to Jeep! Needless to say, I was mess. I couldn't stay the night in Columbia because I had six more hours to drive to get home and be with my family-I couldn't imagine missing my grandfather's funeral. Michael assured me he would do all he could to help me get home that evening to my family. Michael stayed and patched my hole on the side of I-77 and checked on me throughout the evening to make sure I arrived safely to my destination. He was a true saint in the final hour,! We were on a trip to NC from FL and had a tire blow out that severed the steel belt on our right rear tire. We limped into Pep Boys and Jousha Crumbley - Service Manager immediately set us at ease and then took excellent care of us!! In an hours time we were on our way again! Kenneth W did a real professional job installing our new tires and also provided a lot of useful information to us! We had our car towed to Pep Boys because we had a problem with work another Pep Boys had done. I'd called the night before, and we arrived there early. The service guy checked the computer and said they didn't have the part for our car, he'd have to send to the other store and get them to bring it so we should leave and come back Monday. Well, we were trapped, because our car didn't work. The service guy then went over and turned the radio display up to full volume. I went and turned it back down, because noise that loud gives me a headache. The service guy rushed around to see who'd turned down his music, and I just told him it would give me a headache. He once again told us to leave and come back the next day. As it was lunchtime, my husband and I walked to a fast food place, and I decided to call the other Pep Boys to see if they could hurry up and get the part for us. The manager there told us they had no request for a part to be sent to the Decker Pep Boys, and when he checked on the computer, he could see that Decker did, indeed, have the necessary part. Service guy had lied to us, and we'd been there six hours. We walked back and my husband went to the parts department and asked if they had the part available for our car, and they checked on the computer and said they did have it in stock. We went back to the service area, where the service guy was flirting with a customer. My husband said "You never called the other Pep Boys, and you have the part in stock." The girl the service guy was flirting with said "Do I need to go to the parts department first?" and I answered "You probably should; service guy apparently can't use his computer correctly." Service guy glared at me and said "Your car can use two different of these parts..." and my husband interrupted, saying "Yes, and you have both in stock." At that point the service guy told one of his technicians to fix our car. I would tell anyone and everyone to avoid this place like the plague. read more

I was heading to Myrtle Beach for vacation and the car would not start. I used jumper cables to get it going and took it to Pep Boys. I had never been there before. The analyzed both the starter since it made a clicking noise and the battery and replaced the battery all in under and hour and has us on our way down the road. I have been to the store numerous times and walked out without ever speaking to someone who works there due to the lack of employees. I don't know much about the service area of this location but I can honestly say inside of this location has the WORST customer service ever. I've gone in there more than once just for simple purchases and have felt totally invisible every time. What made me do this review is what happened today. I walk in (still ignored but I was on the phone also so I could kind of understand) just to find a simple item for my car and I do find what I was looking for after walking back and forth a couple of times between isles. A guy who worked there even walked pass me....no "Ma'am do you need help" no nothing. Well after I find what I need, I walk to the register and the gentleman there was already helping someone...once again, no acknowledgement even after I said Hello to him. He was too busy helping the guy in front of him that wasn't even buying anything to even tell me he'd be right with me, I guess. So I'm standing there very confused because I didn't know if he was actually ringing up items or just up there to help the guy at the desk or both. So I attempt to ask him a question while he rings up my purchases....yeah but halfway through ringing me up, he stops and continues helping the guy instead of just explaining to me that he'd be right with me or asking the guy to give him a second while he helped me. Never seen anything like this in my entire life. Anyways, after the guy leaves, he rings me up and I ask him my question. He pretty much didn't know what answer to give me except for to keep my receipt and bring the item back if it doesn't work...kinda felt like I was being brushed off. I will not be going to this location again for ANYTHING except for if I do decide to return everything I bought from there. Maybe if I were a dude, I would have been treated like a customer. Unlike most places that see women and want to take advantage thinking we are clueless about cars I went in to get an alignment and purchase two tires. Worst service I've ever had. They had my car an entire day (was a loud squeal coming from front) and never once called me with an update. Had to call them at end of day for them to say they heard no noise. Next day I hear squeal again and call. Service guy says there was no record of my car being there the day before. Hmmm. He says it might be brakes and that they would get to it that day. I wait around for a few hours and again no call from them with update. I call them and was told the tech couldn't get to it and I had to leave it overnight. Again, no phone call to tell me this; I had to call them. Why couldn't they call and tell me this so I didn't have to wait around? When I finally pick up my keys the service guy argues with me about what he said before and physically begins to confront me in the store entrance. Wow. Unprofessional, unorganized, lazy, and oddly arrogant for not really being capable of much. read more

Would not suggest going here at all. I took my car to them because of a chirping sound. They found the main belt to the alternator frayed and replaced it. I picked it up Monday. While driving home, the belt snapped and the car stalled out/ died. This is a two-year-old car and was in good condition aside from the worn belt before taking it to Pep Boys. They towed it back to the shop after two hours of waiting in the middle of a major road for the tow truck. The next morning, I went back to the shop and waited around for 2 and a half hours for them to put a new belt on. The head mechanic came out and told me the first belt was put on incorrectly, causing it to snap and my car to overheat. They did not charge me for the fix of their mistake, but I will never go back there and caution anyone else thinking of going there for mechanic work. Please be careful and make them fix their mistakes if they make a mistake with a repair. It was a stressful experience, and I would not wish that stress on anyone. read more
