I would not recommend this Pep Boys location based on my experience. I brought my car in for repairs and was already dealing with a vehicle that has high mileage, so I expected the work to be done carefully and professionally. Instead, I have serious concerns about both the quality of the repairs and the documentation I was given. The mileage was recorded incorrectly on my paperwork, which affected my warranty situation. I also have concerns that work I paid for was either not completed properly or not completed at all. After the repair, my car is now leaking significantly more oil than it was before it was brought in. I paid a substantial amount of money expecting professional automotive work, and instead I have been left with additional problems and questions about what was actually done to my vehicle. I am extremely disappointed with the experience and am currently looking into my options regarding the repairs and documentation. read more

My daughter's car broke down at Chipotle on Skibo and Bob went above and beyond assisting my daughter and husband with trying to fix/diagnose the problem. We had the vehicle towed to Pep Boys and they did a thorough check of her car. A employee who answered the phone recommended a locksmith after they couldn't address the problem which pertained to the alarm system and kept us updated on the status. Even though they weren't able to fix the problem they showed great concern and terrific customer service. And to top it off, they didn't charge my daughter anything. HUGE waste of time. THe lady came to look at our car and get our tag number, checked out the tires, and then called 4 hours to tell us we needed rims in addition to the new tires we asked for. Which, by the way, they do not sell. Quoted us over $500 for 2 tires. Luckily, we took it to Discount Tire instead, and ended up spending far less, INCLUDING the 2 new rims. When I bought my truck, we bought a pre-paid service plan for basic services. When the dealership is unavailable, we can bring the vehicle to Pep Boys. Solidly on the fence. The front staff is overworked, and you have to wait several minutes to be seen. This causes a delay in checking in, and frustratingly this causes a delay in check out. When my vehicle was brought back up, I had to wait for the front desk person to take care of three other customers before she took care of me. For a basic oil change, it was a little long. 45 minutes from when they moved my vehicle until they returned it. And I was there for another hour on top of that. They don't take appointments for oil changes, walk-in only. Would I go again, idk... if I really needed to I suppose. Jim refused to work on our car after telling us to DRAIN the AC ourselves and then bring it back.

Not only was customer service horrible but alignment was off and lock nuts were not even attempted to be rolled down and tightened. I pay for unlimited alignment and get it done every 5k-7,500 miles. This location isn't worth getting it done for free. read more

I booked my car to have 4 new tires replaced at 1:00pm on Sunday 08/03/2025. I chose to pay in store thank god because I came in on time for my appointment and the woman at the front desk was very rude and seemed like she just didn't want to do her job. I said I was there to get 4 new tires put on and she said I only booked 2. I explained that the tire I chose was doing a buy one get one deal so I booked to pay for 2 and get the other 2 for free. She gave so much attitude through the whole interaction and said "well I don't know if we even have the 2". I then asked why the tires were listed on the website and allowed me to purchase them and she responded with "the website just says whatever". What????? She goes to check and see if they have the tires and (no surprise) comes back and says they don't have them. I asked if I could reschedule the appointment to get the 4 tires when they came back in stock. Without even looking into it on the computer or anything she told me "I don't think we're ever going to restock them". So basically your selling tires online that you don't have and are not going to ever restock??? This is ridiculous and a complete waste of my time. She was so rude and didn't even seem apologetic for the mixup or try to offer me other tires or anything. THE WORST business I have ever been to. No wonder you have a 2.5 rating. I was trying to give you the benefit of the doubt because you had a good deal on tires but ig people weren't lying. Making sure everyone knows NOT to come here. I knew I should get my car checked when my brakes started making strange noises but waiting until Friday afternoon to get it checked meant I was out of luck since mechanics in Laurinburg weren't seeing any cars until Monday. So I decided to tow it to Fayetteville and one of the few options with a mechanic for auto repair over the weekend was Pep Boys. I made an appointment the night before for Saturday but when I arrived the employee let me know that the website sometime overbooks too many people for the same time so I needed to be patient. They came back to me about an hour and a half later with a quote for the repairs that needed to be made and then an hourish came back with another brake element that needed to be fixed but went out of their way to find a cheaper option for the part that was needed. At every point in the process, the employees were very friendly and gave me an estimate for how much time I needed to wait. I suggest checking out their website to check their available coupons and bring a good book in case there is a long wait. They have vending machines but I went next door to Smoothie King for nourishment. read more

My tire light illuminated on my dash, so I made an appointment to have it checked out. Easy to book an appointment online. I arrived about 20 minutes before my 12 p.m. appointment and was helped immediately. There is a waiting room, if you wish to stay. Plenty of food places across the way. I was in and out in about 30 minutes or so. Hailey checked out my tires and let me know that they were fine. The guy working the front, sorry didn't get his name, told me it was possibly a sensor issue?! However, they weren't able to locate the apparatus to check if it was a sensor issue. Approximately two weeks ago, I came into the Pepboys on Skibo rd, Fayetteville, NC to get 4 tired installed. I dropped my car off at 930am. At 130pm, I called to check on their progress and told there was one other car ahead of me and they would call. They call at 4pm said my car was ready but saw some other repairs needed. I advised them that I only wanted the tires done. When I arrived, my car was still on the lift with the hood up. They ask me to have a seat and my car would be ready soon not to mention none of my tires were put on. After leaving and a day later saw that my hub cap was missing and the rubber that holds the air was missing on all my tires. Never again. read more

I work really long hours through the week so when I'm off I have so much to do. Whenever I come to Pep Boys I always make an appointment before I come, but my appointment is never honored. What is the point of having an appointment and it still take 2-3 hours just to do an oil change. I was here at 8:45am, there was 4 employees at the front but it took them at least 5 minutes just to acknowledge me and no one was in front of me. Well least to say I've been here for an hour my appointment was at 9am and my car is still in the same place I parked it. After today I'm done! My time and money is valuable but not to this place! I took a car in the only thing it needed was brakes when I picked it up it would not even start and never ran again. My father in law took his pickup in for brakes and the mechanic put hydrologic brake fluid in a dot system where it ruined the all the rubber seals in the whole system. Took my car in for a parasitic drain on my battery. They didn't look at my car for 4 days. I told them I was sure the problem was the auxillary battery for the start/stop system. They assured me that the battery was fine and charged me for a 3 diagnostic and failed to find the correct power draw. They claimed the issue was my head unit and needed to be replaced for $1900. I took my car elsewhere and got the auxillary battery replaced which fixed the issue despite pep boys telling me the problem was the head unit. They failed to identify the problem i had pointed out to them and they tried to grift me into replacing an expensive part that works perfectly fine. Technician was Terry G. and the service manager's name is George. I recommend avoiding this place read more

Came for an oil change. 5 miles on the way home my engine light turns on, I flip the hood to find my oil cap left completely off. we returned immediately and waited another 1.5hrs for it to be cleaned/fixed. After a refund I think everything is fine, we all make mistakes (I guess). it's been less than a month, maybe 3weeks at most and come to find now my oil is almost dry because the plug was not put back properly. I went to Pep boys because the AC in my drivers side doesn't change temperature. The advisor was Informed that I already replaced the blend door actuator and I wanted to know why it wasn't working. They told me that the solution to the problem was me paying $1300 for them to replace the same part that I already replaced. I was informed that it didn't work because I bought an aftermarket part. I then went and purchased the ford part and the problem continued to happen. I paid $67 for a diagnosis of the problem and they diagnosed it wrong. I knew the blend door actuator wasn't working and it had nothing to do with the blend door but they only told me that it needed to be replaced. Lazy work and an easy pay day for the team. Also, when I received the "complementary vehicle inspection", the only thing that was filled out was the admin data. When I brought that information up to the manager, she told me that just because they didn't fill out the form, doesn't mean they didn't check it. Whats the point of having a form if you're not going to fill it out? One final thing, I also put on my appointment form that I would like my tires rotated and they never did that. read more

Long post / rant...So I take my older car for an inspection being it's the last day of the month. The car drove perfectly fine there and has been driving fine every other time I've driven it. It took an hour to inspect. They told me I needed a rear bulb to pass inspection, $$78 labor + $5 for the bulb. I declined because I've changed it myself in the past at cost. While still waiting for my car, I looked back to the bay and I observe them at this point jumping my car. The guy comes flying around the corner into a park with the car, hands me my key and paperwork. I start to drive off the car is acting like it's gonna shut off, dashboard lights blinking, steering difficult to steer. I'm so frustrated I decide to just come home thinking that they just jumped it so maybe it needs to run to fully charge. When I finally get home, I can barely turn the wheel to back into the driveway so I decided to park it to the side. I turn the car off and now the car won't crank. I wish I had never taken it to this one shop but it was the only one still open that does inspections. I'm so pissed right now but I'll never take a car there again for anything. read more

Their customer service was exceptional and they both went absolutely above and beyond to help us out with the services we needed. I called ahead to check in, and spoke with Geary over the phone. He informed me before hand that there would be a wait, to which I decided to still come and he checked me in over the phone. As stated before, there was a wait today, but they made it as comfortable for us as possible. Geary provided a 10% off coupon to my husband and I for Dunkin' Donuts, as an activity to do while we were waiting. Jacob provided the auto services for our vehicle and we are more than pleased with the outcome. These two deserve recognition for their hard work and customer service. Cons: when we first walked in, we were initially taken care of by Kevin. Kevin did not take care of the situation in a professional or kind manner. His customer service was very poor. His attitude towards his customers AND his co workers was less than satisfactory. I also work in the customer service industry, so I know just how important it is to provide exceptional service. This was incredibly disappointing, however, it was easily corrected with the help of Geary. read more

Don't go to pep boys!!! Got a set of tires and a tune up for my escalade. They called and said I needed a new timing belt (I have a chain) when I wouldn't give into that they called back and said that the truck wasn't starting and I need a new battery. Well I know it hasn't been long since I got a new one so I said don't put a new one in I will be right there. Get there and it's unplugged and someone drained the battery so I asked them to charge it. They said they don't do that. So I asked if they could push it out and jump start it with my other car so they finally agreed to jump start it in the bay. It cranked right up and haven't had a problem with the battery since. So on the way home my truck starts losing power. I swore I wouldn't go back so I had another machanic to look it over. The spark plugs that they supposedly replaced were so loose that they could be taken off by hand and I had a spark plugs wire just hanging down that they didn't secured. They also didn't top off any fluids. To be honest I'm not sure what they did for a 450 dollar tune up. 1600 dollars for a new set of tires and to give me more problems. I do know I will be contacting better business bureau and whoever else will listen. I won't be going back and other people should be made aware of the way they treat customers..... The man acted extremely annoyed that my battery was just fine and told me over and over again about the need for timing belt. And normally all my fluids are checked and filled for a tune up but my windshield wiper fluid is completely empty. They told me I have an oil leak which is completely untrue. I felt he was just trying any way he could to get more money out of me when I just spent 1600 dollars. I am disgusted by the whole experience. I feel like they purposely left my spark plugs loose so I would have to bring it back and they could try to charge me for something else I didn't need. You could look under the hood and see the wire hanging down, I just didn't know it was a spark plug wire until I looked it up. This is not how you should treat paying customers. read more

Would've given them 4 stars had it not been for my interaction with Geary. Orlando was great. He was helpful, friendly and genuine. Geary, on the other hand has a demeanor and phony charisma that raises suspicion. Here's the story: Had problems with the AC compressor in my wife's car and took it in and got it replaced. $1000 bill, as you might expect, but then the AC kicks out on is the next day. We bring it in again to Pep Boys and they make some adjustments to the electric hookup and we're good to go. Since I just bought the car and informed the dealership back in Kansas of the issues I was having, their manager wanted to talk to someone from Pep Boys and get a run down. Geary was clearly reluctant to talk to them himself and tried to avoid doing so. When I got him on the phone with the dealership manager he totally downplayed everything. At one point he said, "We're not charging them anything." While the dealership manager wanted to know about he AC compressor, Geary wanted to keep the conversation specific to the small adjustments made that day. Afterward, I began to suspect that maybe the AC compressor didn't need changed in the first place. I talked it over with Geary for a while and he explained what he problem was and how it was necessary to change the AC compressor, but even after I understood I had a hard time trusting him.
