Dropped my car off at 7:30 am for 1 tire balance. After 6 hours I called and was told he was waiting on the mechanic to get out of high school class. 2 hours later I got my car back. I wasn't charged. Good thing because I'm not sure what the kid did but it didn't solve the problem and now I have a loud hum coming from that wheel. Taking it to a real mechanic today. Edgar took very good care of us as customers and made sure all of our concerns were addressed on the spot. You can trust this location to take good care of your vehicle and the lounge is really nice. I had the most amazing experience last week at Pep Boys with Jonathan Best and his team! I recently had my oil changed and noticed there was oil leaking under my car and I was low in oil. I was about to take off on a long road trip and stopped by Pep Boys on a fluke and Jonathan and his team hooked me up! They immediately took my car in, diagnosed the problem and had me on my way within 15 minutes or less. I asked the team some questions on the impact this could have had etc., and they provided me with all the information to be able to go back and address the previous location that had messed up the oil change in the first place. I ended up taking my car to Desalvo's for them to check out my AC. There was nothing wrong w/ my AC...just needed freon & a charge. Pep Boys said I needed a new switch...hmmm...don't waste your time. Maybe they're only good for oil changes but they're still crooks. read more

How can you review a store that is not open at 9:00am when they say they are going to open. These slackers didn't get to the shop until 9:24am and I was already heading out to the Atlantic beach pep boys where you should go as well. Jimmy the service manager and mike at the desk are incredible professional. They know their stuff and won't try and get on over on you. AWESOME customer service, I'm very pleased with my experience at Pep Boys!! I was replacing my hubcaps and had trouble getting them on (because I'm weak and not good at that stuff,) so I called and asked if I could receive help for this. Faris was not only very friendly and warm over the phone, but when I dropped it off in person, he was very welcoming and willing to help me out. I left my car there, and he ended up replacing them in a very short time period. Then, when I asked about the pay, he insisted that there was no charge! And Faris knew that I'm not from the area (even my license plate is out of state), so this was not a tactic to try and get me to come back; it was just out of the goodness of his heart. Stay away!!! I had my car towed to Pep Boys #1642 because wouldn't start, nor jump, and they were the only repair center open on a Sunday. After they inspected my car and performed an additional diagnostic test, they contacted me and diagnosed the problem as being with my pistons and would require extensive work. They gave me an estimate of $3,600 for labor, plus $900-$1000 on parts. As you can imagine I was quite surprised. After thinking it over I contacted the business and advised them that I would be having my car towed elsewhere for a 2nd opinion. I had my car towed to a Toyota dealer to see if I received the same diagnosis. When a representative from there contacted me, he said the first they did was add gasoline, as I was completely empty and that could've been the reason for my car not starting. I was surprised by this comment as my car had over a quarter tank of gas prior to being towed to Pep Boys. I know this because after my car wouldn't start or jump I looked at my gasoline gauge to make sure I wasn't out of gas. The representative then went on to explain there was nothing wrong with the pistons and the issue was with the auxiliary air valve and valve cover gasket, and that this would cost $1163 total. My car was started and ran fine since. So pretty much this business tried to rip me off and stole my gas. read more

What a scam these guys are running! My advice; get the price in writing before leaving your car there for repair. Tried to nail down their $99 Brake special and it kept adding up to $370!! Service Mgr. tells me he can't find the special, then he finds it, but if it needs rotors that's an additional $100. I'm like, OK, that's reasonable, so the final price should be like $199 plus tax. Nope $370, the rest is some secret "shop fee". Is there a "Better Business Bureau in Jax Beach? I can't believe they haven't been taken to task for false advertisement. There must be a dozen specials on their website and they have no intention of honoring any of them. read more

Very disappointing service. What I was told was a day repair actually took three days. The original quote was tripled by the time they finally got around to doing some actual work. I was told a part would be there and the car would be ready to go at 10am. The technician didn't even show up until noon and I received a call around 4pm saying that it would take another day. This was after I called at noon to see what the problem was. These people do not even know what work or customer service actually are and nor do they care. Do yourself a huge favor and save the time, money and headache of dealing with these incompetent morons. I will never be giving pep boys any business for as long as I live and they have made me so angry that I will tell everyone I know the same. My first regret is taking my vehicle to this place and the second is that I cannot give them zero stars for the review. Now I get to sit and wait to see if the work they actually did will last as it should. I highly doubt it. My new mantra....BAN PEP BOYS read more
