I've been to this Advance Auto Parts store twice in the last few months. The first time I purchased wiper blades which they will installed for free. Another trustworthy place better than the monstrosity across the street. In & out very quickly, no funny business---just straight up good customer service. I was greeted nicely as soon as I walked in, the attendant Stephen was willing to come look and listen to the car and recommended a new battery. He asked me to look at the machine reading and it was clear as day. He didn't try to trick me into getting something unnecessary, he put the battery in RIGHT (aka not hanging off the platform like Tuffy did) for free and was overall a competent professional. Even though my vehicle Was recommended to be installed by a professional, Johnny advised me that he would be able to do it! My battery failed on Saturday and I called to make sure that they could install a new battery on Sunday. I am 70 yrs. old with a bad shoulder so this was important. They said to come in first thing Sunday and they would take care of it, no problem. I went online and bought the battery and arrived at the store at 9:20am Sunday morning. As I arrived, I noticed an employee installing a battery in a car in the parking lot. I entered the store and told an employee behind the counter that I was there to have my battery installed. While he was helping another customer, I looked around the store. He called me to sign the receipt and told me my battery was on the cart he pushed from behind the counter. I stated that I thought that they were supposed to install. He said he couldn't install it and the other guy that I noticed in the parking lot was leaving. (They opened at 9 am and this guy was leaving at 9:30?) The other employee was scurrying around and deliberately not looking in my direction and mumbling under his breath. This is the one I had seen 5 minutes earlier installing a battery in the parking lot. I told them that my battery was dead and there was no way I could start my car. Both employees ignored me. I decided that I would call my wife to come give me a boost and I would take the battery home and get my neighbor to help me install it. So, I pushed the cart that had my battery out to the car. They didn't even offer to hold the door. I was able to load the battery in my car and I went back inside with the cart...which had a used battery on it that they hadn't unloaded which made it more difficult. Again, they didn't even offer to hold the door. The more I thought about it the angrier I got. I confronted the employee and demanded an explanation as to why they refused to install my battery. The other guy continued to ignore me. He said that he was injured and couldn't lift. I told him that my battery was dead...that I had no tools...and didn't know how I was going to start my car and get home. He just looked at me and said nothing. He didn't offer tools or a jump to start my car or any assistance whatever. Another customer in the store overheard everything and said he could install it for me. So, we went outside and he installed it. I took the old battery inside for my core refund and he told me that I needed to bring the old battery back tomorrow (are you kidding) because it took 24 hours with online orders. I insisted and he finally gave me my refund and I went home. I don't understand why I was treated so badly. No apology and little explanation was offered. This place definitely has a management problem. I don't appreciate them making their problem mine. read more
