I came in for an oil change and to have my battery looked at and was able to get both done easily. The location downside is that there was only one employee at the front. Nothing against her, because she was amazing but one person can only wait on so many people at a time which caused delays. The oil change and battery fix took around two hours. Went to this Pep Boys to get a quote for an AC repair and were told the repair would cost about $1,900. Since that's a large repair, we wanted to review the itemized estimate before deciding what to do. When we first walked in, the employee at the counter ignored us for a while. That's understandable if someone is busy, but the interaction became very rude as things went on. We were told the estimate had been texted to us, but the messages had actually been sent to the wrong phone number. When we asked if the estimate could be printed so we could review it, she said no and told us we would have to call tomorrow to have the number updated. When I asked why it couldn't be printed, she said she had already left the checkout screen. While we were still there, we saw her print something and asked again if the estimate could be printed or emailed. She refused again and told us to call back tomorrow since she wouldn't be there. When my partner offered to give his email so the estimate could be sent, she refused to write it down and said "because I don't want to." When I asked for her name, she ignored the question and instead yelled across the shop to employees, "Get the GMC Terrain out NOW." We weren't asking for anything unreasonable--just a copy of the estimate so we could review a $1,900 repair. I dropped my car off for an AC issue, missed their call, and despite calling back multiple times couldn't reach anyone until around 7 PM. When I finally did, I was given a quote that seemed absurdly high, so I declined the repair and went to pick up my car and pay the $50 evaluation fee. When I arrived, the front desk employee ignored me for about 10 minutes. After paying, I asked for an itemized explanation of the issues they claimed to find. She refused, told me to call back when she wouldn't be there, and even refused to take my email so it could be sent to me. When I asked why, her response was, "Because I don't want to." I don't mind doing business with Pep Boys as they have been my go to for tires for years. Today, it was an oil change and tire rotation. The service was quick but they failed to complete the tire rotation. I mark my tires each service to verify and as usual, they tell you they did it and did not. The front desk person tells me "He said he did it but he will do it again". I tell him this is why I mark my tires so I don't get cheated on services I pay for. How can I trust that they are changing my oil and filter? I won't be returning to this location but I feel that it is just normal business for them so our tires wear out faster. read more

I was in desperate need for a oil change, and everywhere I called was booked up. Since I drive a Mercedes I can't just go anywhere. I typically go to Pep Boys , however this was my first time at this location. I called to make an appointment Monday hoping they had same day availability, but they were booked up until Wednesday, today. The first available appointment was today at 9 AM . I scheduled my appointment over the phone with ease. When i got here there were a few cars in front of me. I was worried that they would not be able to complete the oil change within the 1hr time frame I was giving. An hour later Donald came to the waiting area to let me know if my car was ready. I was thrilled. Pros : Great customer service, on time for service, clean quiet waiting area. Cons : The bathroom was disgusting. From a mechanic, this place is shady. 1) Tried telling my wife she needed all new brakes and rotors for 1400$. I ordered and replaced them myself to find out all the rotors and rear brakes were perfectly fine. Just the front brakes needed to be replaced. Either way brakes and rotors was 300$ and 2 hours of work with basic tools and manual jack. To ask for 1400 is outrageous. 2) the tried charging me almost 400 for an alignment and oil change. They told me around 200$ when I first asked. It wasn't until checkout they gave me a different price. 3) after taking off the tires and reading the other reviews, I highly doubt they even performed the alignment. Just stay away. My light had blown and had a long drive ahead of me and I did not want to risk safety and the chance of getting pulled over during it for having a light out. I was referred here by AAA because it was the closest and had the earliest hours. I got there as soon as it opened with the hopes of being able to return to my day. It turned out that the shop doesn't open when the store does but it was not too long after, so that was good. I was told it would cost about $50 to get both bulbs changed (better safe than sorry I figured) including labor which ran about $10/bulb. They have complimentary WiFi which was nice and a separate waiting area which also has windows so you can watch your car being completed. While waiting I figured I would check in on Yelp and saw the reviews about time and price issues. As the time went by I was realizing that there was definitely a problem here. Again, I was the first one. Not counting the 15 minutes it took for them to open the shop it took about 45 minutes total for them to bring in my car and replace the bulbs. I can't imagine how long it would have taken had I not been first... He finally brings the paperwork to the counter and I go out and then waited 5 minutes for them to finally pull my order (there were two guys at the counter- one helping someone else the other doing some sort of filing which I'm sure could have waited while he took the 2 minutes to get me on my way). This is where the price issue comes into play. As I'm paying the guy makes a surprise look and mentions how he was surprised it cost that much. I didn't really think twice about it until then, if the staff makes a comment like that then there must be something going on. Annoyed with the place and having expected to be out of there much sooner I realized that though it is a good concept being able to buy what you want and get it installed in the next room, Pep Boys just doesn't have the "pep" that the name claims. EDIT: I appreciate that time was taken to address my experience. As this was a pass through visit not much can be done, in my view, besides showing genuine concern and allowing then the opportunity to take my opinions and use them as they will. However, reviewers take note. They might go back to find your information and call you before you give them the okay to initiate contact. While this may be in the spirit of addressing issues I felt it to be rather invasive that they went through their files for the sole purpose of finding my number and calling me. Diagnostic on 2007 Jaguar. Called them on 8/17/23 and told them I needed a Diagnostic ASAP. This Pep Boys is located at the corner of Cobb Parkway and Franklin Road across the street from Dobbins Air Force Base and next to the Social Security office. This location has a full service center and a car parts and accessories store. It's open 7 days a week. I normally only go to Pep Boys when I need the occasional car care/car cleaning supply. I did stop by here once to grab some touch-up paint for my car when my hood got some rather big nicks in it after getting hit by debris on the highway. The store has a multitude of paint colors to choose from. My car is silver. There are many different types/shades of silver available. I could hardly them apart. Thankfully, the store employees trusted me enough to where they allowed me to take a few bottles of paint with me outside to my car. I was able to compare my car's paint with the bottles of touch-up paint closely under natural light. I was able to find a shade of silver that matched approximately to my car's paint. It was far from perfect, but it was better than leaving those large nicks exposed. The bottle of touch-up paint is small, but it contains much more paint than I'll ever need. It resembles a bottle of nail polish on steroids. I stopped by during my lunch break and was in and out quickly. I've also called this Pep Boys for tire quotes. Compared to the competition (e.g. Sears Auto Center, Weaver Brake & Tire, Discount Tire), Pep Boys fared poorly with its high prices. The low tire pressure light came on in my car and I was on my way to an important meeting on a Saturday afternoon. I drove to this location, which only services vehicles, to get some assistance. The place was packed with vehicles and Peyton was the associate who helped me out. I didn't tell him i was in a hurry so I was debating whether to wait or take my chances and leave. Instead of suggesting that I wait for an hour to get my tire checked, he offered to put air in all of my tires. There was no charge and his kind demeanor assured me he did this out of kindness and concern for me to continue with my day. read more

Be careful taking your car here. I went with my husband because he works with cars and wanted to make sure I wasn't sold anything I didn't need. I paid for an oil change and an alignment. My husband asked for the paperwork on the alignment and they gave him paperwork for another car. When he pointed this out, they said they couldn't provide the paperwork because the printer was out of paper when it was time to print and they Can't go back that far to print it now (their system can't go back an hour?) We asked them to provide the paperwork so they had to 'redo' the alignment. The technician said to my husband, "good thing you got an alignment, it really needed one" which confirmed one wasn't done on it. Be careful and check your paperwork. I paid 159 dollars for an oil change, tire balance, tire rotation and alignment and had i been by myself, i would have driven away with only an oil change done. I feel that I can't trust this establishment and I am disappointed in the service I paid for and didn't receive until I asked for proof it was done. When asked about if the rotation and balance was done, the technician said they Can't do those without an alignment done first... So please be careful when you go. They even gave me a free oil change for next time but it doesn't fix how wrong their behavior and ethics are. EDIT: I reached out to the email address that a Pep Boys representative left on the below reply I never heard back from Pep Boys. Their customer service center called me to see if I was happy with their rectification of the situation and I told him I had yet to receive a call from Pep Boys. This is the second time I've experienced this at this location. I get told my car is going right in to be serviced and yet I have to wait an hour and fifteen minutes for them to even move my car even tho no cars were in the bay when I asked how long the wait was. Everything you read from the other reviewers is true. My battery took 3 hours to replace. That's right, 3 hours. They originally told me 2 hours, but it actually took 3. So be prepared for that for any service request at this Pep Boys. Just assume it's going to take 3 hours. I can't give them low marks because of that. They seem understaffed to me. They seem to run behind on their services and look busy all the time. I can't fault them for taking too long. Besides, I felt that they were cordial and friendly. Well, I'll be the first to review this place and give it 5 stars! Where else can you get new brakes on a Sunday evening and get good customer service? A little background: About 10,000 miles ago, or earlier this spring, a certain dealership that shall remain nameless told me that I would be needing new brakes in about 1,000 miles and it would cost me $500-$600. I drive about 1,000 miles a month, so I began to prepare myself for a hefty bill even though my brakes weren't making any noise. The dealership acts like VWs are so complicated that if you take your car to anyplace outside the dealership, the mechanics will screw it up and the car will never work again. I decided to get a second opinion from Karma VW in Decatur since they specialize in VWs. Karma VW told me that my brakes were fine! So basically the dealership lied to me. Fast forward to this October (and nearly 8,000 miles later on the same brakes). I went back to the same dealership to get my oil changed and was told that I might need new brakes in another 5,000 miles. Um, well, didn't you tell me earlier this year that I would need new brakes in 1,000 miles? Make up your mind dealership! I ignored them. Now, fast forward to this past weekend during the rush of holiday shopping. I heard my brakes making a scraping and scrubbing noise and I was sure that wasn't good. I wanted to get them fixed ASAP so that I would know how much I would have left over for Christmas shopping. I was prepared for a large bill and to possibly get ripped off and lied to because I'm a lady. A male friend recommended Pep Boys and I'm glad I took his advice. I arrived at 3:30 on a Sunday afternoon with no appointment. There were several other customers waiting. My car was checked out right away. The manager mentioned that I might need a new tire because my treads were worn down, but he didn't push a new tire or any other useless services. I was told I only needed rear brakes and a fluid flush and the price was less than half what the dealership quoted me for! I also had a coupon for 10% off and a rebate (I printed it from the Pep Boys website). I really appreciated the honesty at Pep Boys and that they did not tell me I needed "this and that" to get extra money. This place used to be great. Recently it has been a huge waste of money for me. I came in and asked for a diagnostic for my shaking car. They said I did not need a diagnostic. Just needed new tires (My tires were only half way through their mileage life span). The guy was convincing, so I wasted $400 on that. When the car was still shaking, I took it to a real mechanic who performed a diagnostic and let me know I needed my axle replaced. I have had no issues since. More recently, I came in to get an oil change and brake light changed. My manager's special oil change came to $89. My break light change was $15. As soon as I drove off the lot, my break light dash light was still on. Also note, I left my car there at 4:45, and they had not finished my oil change (on a Tuesday) until 7:00. I picked up the car at 7:30 and they said with the 20 minutes of work time they had left they would not be able to replace my brake light. Since this was one of two small jobs I came in with, I cannot express my full disbelief in how incompetent this group was. WHAT A GOOD DEAL!! So definitely I agreed and gave my keys to JOHNNY WILLIS then asked him very clear simple question: Is this $39.57 oil change a full synthetic oil? He answered with a big smile YES SIR. I waited form 3:30 pm to 7:00 pm until my car is done, all that for a normal oil change, I had no appointment so I'm fine with it. having nothing to do in the waiting room except drinking some coffee (after a long day in college) and watching my car while they are applying service on it. The guy who worked on my car is so funny, he didn't know where is my oil tank to open the led, I promise it took him 10 mins to find out, then h left the car up and instead of taking off the bottom cover for the whole engine, he bind it from the corner and start working on the car! I was shocked and went to talk to him so he reply as they don't have to take it all out and this way is easier!!! So I shut up and go back to waiting room where I can keep watching him. Then suddenly while he is working under the car, releasing the oil bult, high pressured oil everywhere on his face, his shirt, arms and for sure on the engine cover that he refused to take off! So now I have oil between the engine and the bottom engine cover!! Which later on everyone pass by the car tells me that there's a burning oil smell coming out of my engine!!! He start filling the the engine with the new oil, I can see him dropping everywhere on the engine and on the car's body!! Anyway it was like I'm watching horror movie, imagine someone abusing your baby in front of you and you can't do anything about it. Finally they're done by 7:00 pm, I paid for the horrible service then took my car directly to a car wash. The very next day, sitting in my car in the break between my classes, looking at the oil change reminder sticker!!! What !!! They marked the sticker as HIGH MILEAGE OIL and my next oil change should be in 3000 miles!!!! I grabbed my car's paperwork and the oil change receipt!! It's true! I asked for a pennzoil full synthetic oil, they gave me the pennzoil high mileage oil instead! So I called the store right away and spoke to the MF ( Jeff ) and explained everything to him so he replies as oh no we gave you full synthetic!! then he's like no we don't carry a pennzoil full synthetic oil in our store but the one you got is a synthetic blend high mileage, I told him that I asked for full synthetic and that what I have been putting in my car for the past two years, The MF replies to me: don't worry, the car will make it until your next oil change in 3000 miles then by that time put full synthetic!!!!!!!!!!!! He didn't even apologize to me and offer anything to help me. I called customer care of pep boys and explained everything to them, having all proves that I have a high mileage oil not full synthetic in my engine, customer care said someone will call you in 24 hrs, after two day I called again and explained the whole story again to them, explained that there's a white thick smoke coming out of my exhaust which is not normal! I think my engine is gonna blow up but looks like nobody care about us even though we're a very loyal customers for year! I mean we were because I'll never have any business with pep boys anymore! 3 hours and 45 minutes for an oil change. Are you freaking kidding me. It was 3 hours before they even touched the vehicle. 45 minutes for the actual oil change. Absolutely rediculous. Enterprise rent a car you can do better. Please change your choice of merchants. I do not in any way shape or form recommend this place. I'd give this place zero stars if allowed. For diagnostics it cost $100, most places run free diagnostics. If you opt to not have work done here forget any assistance at all. After running diagnostics they left something on killing the cars battery. There is 1, I repeat 1 jump box! That's in an employees vehicle, not on site. This is a busy location! How the heck can you operate with one jump box. Was told the employee would be back in 15 minutes, now 30 minutes later nothing. Incompetent is me being nice. Avoid this place like the plague. Oh wait... the employee is back 30+ minutes later and now the jump box needs a charge. Absolutely ridiculous for such a busy location to have 1 jump box. Run people, run.... read more

Their service center is ok but I'm not fully confident in their diagnostic service especially at the price they quote for it. Tires are always on backorder. Sometimes a friendly staff member - sometimes a grump. read more
