Scheduled an appointment to have an alignment done. Sat for about 45 minutes then the service manager blunts out through the shop, "I don't know what the heck you did to your F150!" Don't assume I did the work and embarrass me in front of all the customers. A mechanic messed up the clockspring but they were not competent enough to fix it. I took it home and completed the job myself in less than hour. Thankfully firestone was close and completed the alignment pepboys could not. read more

Went in New Year's Day to replace a flat tire and service left a lot to be desired. They didn't make sure all tires had the same air pressure after installing the new one. They didn't recommend multiple tires for an all-wheel drive vehicle (which means they didn't check tread depth, etc). They basically did the bare minimum on the purchase of a premium tire. If we weren't visiting from out of town and had more time, we would definitely have gone elsewhere. read more

My appointment was for 1 PM, I didn't leave there until about 5 PM, so it definitely took a long time. When I got there, Sean was at the desk and helped me get set up with the car. Went through the oil change and costs with me and we discussed the brakes. I told him the issues we were having, and he was going to check them out. The oil change took little over an hour. Sean then came to tell me we needed all four pads and rotors replaced and what it was going to cost, which was about $1400. I asked him if we would be better off buying the parts and doing it ourselves, and he said with the cost of parts today, probably not. So I gave them the green light. I went to Mizu and was talking to my dad about the cost who informed me that I was being screwed out of money. So I looked up some of the parts and looked like a lonely psychopath sitting by myself in Mizu crying eating a sushi roll because life loves hitting us with big costs one after another. So, I went back over to Sean to talk about this. I asked him to print me a slip showing exactly what I'm paying for, which he very kindly did. He was very transparent with the costs and labor. The problem was with pep boys prices. They quite literally marked up one rotor more than 100%. I showed him the exact part on the internet, and how I'm being charged $400 in markups on just the rotors. Sean helped me very patiently for quite a while. He went through all the costs with me and answered every one of my questions. I kept offering to let other people go in front of me, but he declined that. Sean did literally everything he could to help me out with cost today which I am incredibly thankful for. He dropped costs everywhere he could. At the end of it, with all of the discounts, we still paid about $450 in labor and markups. Both Sean and Jason were absolutely great and very helpful, and I was happy to have dealt with them. If you don't care about cost, I'd definitely recommend this place. However this can be done for a lot cheaper on your own or probably in a more personal shop instead of a chain. If they didn't already start the work, I would have just left and had my fiancé do it. But what was done was done, so learning lesson for me and hopefully for whoever reads the reviews. Long story short my husband now needs a NEW ENGINE after getting an oil change/tire rotation done at the Nile's location! After having to have his car towed to our dealership they found that Pepboys had neglected to put the plug back in after changing the oil. They found metallic shards inside his oil tank as well! Side note- on day of "service" he had to bring the car back initially because they did not rotate the tires first time -proof being my husbands right front tire was missing a cap and after inspecting tires he saw the tire was still in that same spot. after second time of them saying they fixed it, guess what?! same tire was still in the front right passenger side never moved. My husband travels far distances for work & I can't imagine what would've happened if his engine shut down while traveling at a high speed. Do Not put your car or life in their hands! read more

if i could leave 0 stars i would. i took my car to pep boys last year because my engine blew up. they were awful. told me they were getting a used engine to put in and i told them not to use an old engine and to give me a new one. and they told me everything was great and the engine was new. i just took the car back last saturday due to a large oil leak. the car was there until monday when Justin called me and told me my car was ready to be picked up and there was no oil leak at all. couldn't find a drop of oil underneath the car. so he left my keys in the glove box and parked it unlocked on the curb in their parking lot. (fixing nothing). so i drove my car home and it was leaking a lot of oil still. Justin completely deleted the file and cancelled my appointment as if i wasn't there at all, making my insurance company not believe that i was there since he didn't call them to get the service that NEEDED to be done covered. I went back yesterday to make them call my insurance company infront of me to admit that my car was in fact there for an oil leak and they didn't fix it. instead, they pulled the car back in the shop, i sat there for two hours, and the manager came out and said "yeah. it's pouring out oil there's a major leak in the seal" and proceeded to tell me that justin "called me and informed me of the leak, but i asked for my car back and drove off the lot without paying the diagnostic bill". what bill? justin deleted the work order and left my car in the parking lot after they closed. so then he told me i was going to have to pay over $400 for them to fix my huge oil leak. but if they called my insurance company on saturday, it would've been covered and it would've been fixed by now. i made the manager call my father to explain what lies he just fed to me and he LIED to my father and continued to blame me for the situation. so, i had to make an appointment to get this leak fixed and i dropped off the car this morning at 9. at 11:45 i got the same notification that my appointment was cancelled. i hadn't been called that my car was done or anything i had just been waiting. i went to pepboys about the cancelled appointment and the car was sitting in the front lot, parked. i went inside to pay and he said "should be fixed. ‍ let us know if you have any troubles but i think we got it". super reassuring. i drove it across the parking lot to a restaurant and after having lunch, there was a spot of oil under the car where it had been leaking before. AFTER it was supposed to be fixed!! i continued to drive it home to see if it was just residue, but there's another oil spot in my driveway from the vehicle leaking oil. absolutely horrible treatment by justin and the manager, i believe his name was jim. justin is disgustingly rude when he speaks to you, gives false information and then blames the customer for doing "the wrong thing". and management takes his side instead of recognizing that he allowed me to drive off the lot with a huge oil leak after telling me there was none whatsoever. absolutely horrible. i will never take another vehicle to a pep boys, and i will never recommend this to ANYONE. if i hear someone say they're taking their car to pep boys, i will explain to them why it's a horrible idea. read more

I've been here 3 or 4 times in the past year. Every time things seem okay but not long after something needs fixing that was never mentioned before. Anytime I call and ask about pricing or coupons they've sent me I get a huge attitude and talked down to. Multiple times I've found weird or extra amounts on my bill or that the total doesn't equal what I've been charged for. When I ask they always blame the computer and print me a new receipt (from the same computer) and it's the right amount. Last time I went in and they claimed just about everything needed fixed - tires- brakes- rotors and a few other things including that I needed to buy new "tire struts." I'm a 20 year old female- so when I heard this I freaked out. ( Mind you my car had been in not long ago and nothing was said about any of this) "How much" I asked "$1300" and I was asked should they start now?!? I said absolutely not! I needed to call my husband first and let him know. He was at work and said no way. We picked up the car, and after a LONG conversation with my grandfather I went to his mechanic in my hometown. Not only did half of the things not need to even be touched but "tire struts" are not something you buy. It was made up! The whole crew and my grandfather had a good laugh at my expense for that one. I had also had my tires rotated at Pep Boys. The new guys thought it was strange how much wear and tear my tires had put on in a year. I told them I wasn't sure but they had just be rotated and aligned. All 4 of my tires where pointing in at an angle!!! I just paid Pep Boys and they said everything was all set- so another lie. I purchased tires on line and had them installed on the wheels. I put them on the car and there was a shudder at higher speeds. I called and asked that the wheels be rebalanced and took it in. I was told that the tires are off road and that the shudder was to be expected. I have run at least 7 other sets of these wheels (BF Goodrich All Terrains) and have never had this issue. I asked that the tires be rebalanced any ways and they were. I just changed the oil in the car and then went to rotate the tires. Wouldn't you know the lug nuts were over torqued and red Loctite had been applied to all 20 lugs. Real funny stuff. I would never let these folks touch my car. I am not sure where their idea of funny ends. Not worth the chance. read more

When I returned to get my car after getting a new tire, I asked, "Did he replace my donut?" The cashier with the Japanese tattoo on his right forearm replied with a smile, "He's supposed to! Let me just staple these (the receipts) together and get you on your way..." Nope. My donut was in my trunk under the mat. (It's supposed to be mounted under the car.) I'm not taking my car back to have the donut placed back on my car though; I don't want my donut damaged out of spite. I would HIGHLY recommend Wholesale Tire on East Market Street in Warren where I bought my other tires. The only reason I went to Pepboys was because Wholesale Tires was closed. Their people are incredibly friendly, the service is quick, and the tires are almost 1/3 the price of Pepboys. I feel bad for the lady who left a review who paid for 4 tires and got 2 used ones. I think I'll have my husband check to see if they did that to me. I'll post an update if they did. read more

This morning my car heater wasn't working I started calling places to make an appointment but one didn't answer, another the customer service was bad the receptionist wasn't friendly at all, and another didn't have time until Friday just to look at it perhaps to fix would be another week....I gave up and started to drive around stopped by a business the mechanic didn't want the job because it was too difficult if it was the blower motor so......I was almost giving up when I saw PepBoys! I called them from the parking lot to make an appointment a guy Jim answered and he was extra nice on the phone and told me they could "take a look" in a few minutes if I wanted so I didn't hesitate to accept. Simple. My car was diagnosed the price was reasonable and he delivered the job 30 minutes earlier from what he had promised me, and he still offered to call Lyft for me if I needed during the process. I don't know if it was just luck but half throughout the day my car was fixed and I received a discount price on top of the original estimate. Honestly, I think we need more places like this with less bureaucracy, more qualities, such as excellent customer service and professionalism. It is not always about the money. What a worthless place to go don't even waste your time I had a car that had a flat tire on the highway just about a mile away from this place someone actually stopped and helped me and I took my tire off and took it to them to see if they could put the tire back on the rim it was no visible damage 2 Tire on rim I think it was just low on air I had A 4 year old 11 year old and my wife with me they said that I had to wait in line and they were backed up for 4 hours that I would just have to leave my kids sitting on the side of the road with the car being passed by semis and highway traffic I hope that their future is very poor at this facility and eventually shuts down I don't think any one of them should be servicing cars don't they have any morals read more
