On April 28, 2025, I had my alternator replaced at this Pep Boys location. Today, I discovered a large coolant leak under the hood--coolant splattered throughout the engine compartment. This issue did not exist prior to service, and Pep Boys was the last to work under the hood. When I called to report the problem, I was met not with concern, but with mocking tones, vague answers, and a clear undertone of dismissiveness from the store manager. He refused to provide his full name and made me feel as though my concerns were being treated as a nuisance rather than valid feedback from a paying customer. We plan to bring the vehicle back on Friday to have it properly evaluated--hopefully without any hostility or retaliation. I'm posting this so others are aware of the service culture at this location and in hopes that Pep Boys corporate addresses the behavior and service quality accordingly. read more

I spent $1517.47 to repair my car. After the repair, the car had more and more problems. When I asked them about it, they said I could drive it safely. But when I went to them again to tell them about the car problem, they said the mechanic was not there and would come next Tuesday to check it for free. Update just a few days later. After leaving and driving around for a while, I realized the tire pressure was low. As part of their service, they were supposed to check and adjust as needed. Then the washer fluid light came on? They didn't check that out either. Terrible service that has me questioning if they did anything they said. I went back and they were great about adding air to the tires and filling the washer fluid, but I shouldn't have to check everything out for something so simple. After filling out the survey on the receipt, I received a call from the manager apologizing. He went above and beyond to make the situation right and I appreciated his thoughts on it not being what Pep Boys is all about. I'll return for my next oil change and will see how it goes again. Beware!!! This place is trying to scam you before Christmas. Had a nail in our tire. Took it to them to fix the flat. While I was there I asked to get an oil change since we were planning on it anyways. Within 30 minutes of drop off William S is calling my phone back to back to tell me that my whole oil system needed to be replace because of a crack and leak in the intake gasket. Oil was apparently everywhere and mixing with coolant. My car wouldn't make it much further and they can't do the oil change until I paid the $1350 to get the whole system replaced (not including the original work I brought it in for). I asked for a picture since I was at work and he said they would have to take apart the whole engine to get that picture. Upset, I told him we did not see any oil on the driveway we park every night and nothing on the dash. That I'm not spending $1350 right before Christmas on an issue like this without getting a second opinion. After I told him to fix the flat and I'll pick up the car as is, William turned and became very short with me. After they fixed the tire he called me 3 separate times to "come get your car, be here before 530" when I confirmed the first time I'll be up after work. When I came in, William S was on one register but I was being helped by his coworker. They had issues pulling up my invoice, then he whispered to William pointing at my screen. William whispered back and then they threw out the first invoice they printed. I paid my bill for the flat and they never not once mentioned this catastrophic oil issue. Got home, checked under the hood and nothing seemed out of place. Took it to get an oil change the next day at a different shop and never mentioned what pep boys saw and they changed it no problem. I came here the other day because I needed to get one tire replaced and ended up with two new ones. The guy behind the counter checked my car and came back with his recommendations. I appreciated his honesty about just the front tires needing to be replaced because the back ones were fine. I came on a Sunday morning thinking it would be an in and out thing, but turns out that wasn't the case. I was told it would take 2-3 hours before it was done and I was there with my boyfriend and daughter. With nothing else to do, we grabbed lunch 2 blocks over, stopped by the grocery store and came back. They do have a waiting area with a TV and they have free coffee. That's where we spent the last hour before the car was done. Yes, I ended up spending more than l originally expected, but the service and quality was good. My only issue was how long it took to get it fixed, but I also didn't have an appointment. Perhaps that would have cut down the wait. read more

If I could give them 0 stars I would. I came in to get my battery replaced, which on their website showed the installation as $14.99 and I figured I'd probably have to pay maybe $200-250 for the battery (like my previous hyundai of a similar model). I am fully in the belief that they saw a young woman who didn't know much about cars and tried to get every penny they could out of me. First red flag was that I had a coupon for a free oil change if I made an appointment. He told me that it wasn't valid because I needed synthetic oil so he would only take $30 off the oil change. (The coupon did not state anything about synthetic oil not being included in the promotion in the fine print and he himself admitted that it doesn't say that.) Second Red flag was when he told me that replacing the battery for my Hyundai Accent was going to cost $500. (I previously had an elantra and the battery for that was bout $250) It seemed strange but I figured maybe it's more expensive because inflation and whatnot and I was just like okay I guess. I posted on my social media crying about how much money I was about to spend and the OVERWHELMING response from people with all different types of cars saying that it sounded like way too much money and that I should get a second opinion. I called Pep Boys back and told them this and the guy told me "well we have to special order the batter because we don't have it in stock so that's why it's so expensive". I asked him if he has to special order it does that mean I'll have to pick the car up in a couple days. He told me that they could just order it from their local supplier and it would be there in an hour or so. I told him to hold off on the battery and just do the oil change because if i could find it cheaper somewhere else I'd prefer to do that. He verbally agreed on a recorded line that he would wait. So I called my dad and he said the guy is definitely trying to get as much money out of me as possible. My dad drives a huge GMC truck and he said even his battery wasn't that expensive. I got a call back from Pep Boys as I was on the phone with my dad and the rep told me they had already installed the battery....which he had just told me would take at least an hour to arrive. I pointed this out because at this point it had only been about 20-30mins since I left the place and barely 5 mins since I called him at first when, according to him, it wasn't in stock. It didn't make sense to me that their special order would arrive so fast. He said that it arrived very quickly and his guys had already done the work. Now I'm SURE I can't trust him and he has lied to me about most of what he said previously. In my opinion he was telling me they already did the work because he thought that I would just cave and pay the $500 with the work already done. (My dad found the battery for $250 on autozone & asked a mechanic who said he'd install it for $15) He repeated the reason was because they had to order it plus labor fees (which remember the website had said it was $14.99 for installation). I told him that & he was stumbling over his excuses so much that I couldn't understand what he was saying but essentially the $14.99 pricing was incorrect according to him. It all seemed VERY shady so I told him to pull the battery out & put the old one back in and I would pay for the oil change ONLY. He was VERY clearly upset when I said this and immediately became short with me on the phone but agreed. When I came to pick it up, he had charged me $88 (which remember I was supposed to get $30 off even with his made up rule about synthetic oil) for the oil change and some "shop fees" but at that point I didn't want to argue anymore and he was being very huffy/irritated while I was standing waiting for him to ring me up so I just paid it. He was definitely banking on the fact that I didn't know anything and wasn't expecting me to have someone to call to ask advice. 3 issues.. I went in with a print out of my check engine code meanings. they brought the mechanic in and I tried to show it to him and he looked away as if they can't accept what a code means.. I needed an o2 sensor and based on their $120 diagnosis.. turns out unneeded an o2 sensor.. they tried to reset the code and blow compressed air over my current sensor and charge me the $120 diagnostic.., then.. at a price of $120 per o2 sensor. they gave me a price of $2400 to replace 3.. I only need 1... so that labor cost must be outrageous.. third.. I see and smell smoke all the time in my truck.. the people at autozone saw and smelled it immediately as well.. but I've taken my truck up 3 times for it and they just blow it off every time as there's no code and no sensor issues... but they always try to upsell me on shocks and struts for $4,000. considering I went elsewhere for another diagnostic and they didn't mention shocks or struts it must be a scam. the fact that they can't resolve my smoke issue but at the same time in addition they try to upsell me spark plugs and a tune up is discouraging.. I'm sure not spending $2,400 for a sensor if my truck still smokes.. in the end. I paid $120 for them to diagnose what the paper I brought in to them said.. and then they did nothing read more

Special ordered and prepaid for high performance tires for my 2021 Cadillac CT4-V at the Avalon Park - Pep Boys. When picking up my car after work was completed, my wheels were full of grease that required cleaning to be inspected. Unacceptable appearance considering when i dropped off the car they were spotless and scratch free. The agent said yeah, go clean them and let me know. My concern was accurate, I found all 4 rims with damage. The agent told me nothing could be done until a week later when his manager returns from vacation. He refused to give me the district manager name and phone number, claiming it was against company policy?! They damaged my vehicle and have provided no claim number, no documentation, and No resolution. I will never trust this business with my car again. Man, these guys are MONEY HUNGRY! As a business owner and former mechanic, I understand that you have to keep the lights on. But it seems like they have a habit of turning down all job they don't deem worthy of their time OR you'll come in for one thing and leave paying a few hundred more for things you didn't even ask for.... This is my second experience with them and I can't be bothered anymore. I called this morning to get the price for a full synthetic oil change and tire rotation. Specifically asked if they had time to do it right now and quickly. She assured me that they were good to go and to "bring it on in". And after reading several other reviews where ppl walked in for a patch and walked out with 4 tires, or walked in with one price and walked out with twice that... Performed deceptive upselling of maintenance that was not needed. Performed maintenance not recommended by Acura tens of thousands of miles before recommended. Just went in for oil change and check alignment. What should have been a bill about $150 ended up with a $700 maintenance bill. Left with significantly under inflated tires. Car entered Pep Boys at 35 psi left at 30 psi. They deflated the tires and recommended replacing the tires which had at least 10,000 miles left of good wear. Avoid this pep boys store!!! read more

As my boyfriend was replacing my two headlights on my 2006 Hyundai Elantra when he noticed that my power steering belt was shredding. As we looked for locations to take my car, my boyfriend insisted on going to a Pep Boys. The first one we went to was short staffed (but nice and helped us find the telephone numbers to the other Pep Boys), so we ended up going to the Avalon Park Pep Boys after confirming that my car could be serviced the same day. At the Avalon Park Pep Boys, staff (I wish I remembered their names) were friendly and took us step by step as to what they needed to do to repair my car. As my boyfriend and I waited in the clean waiting room (with clean bathrooms), we were able to access free WiFi, watch TV on a large flatscreen and check on the work being done to my car through windows that peak into the garage. My car was ready in under two hours (and that included time for an oil change and replacing two of my headlights that my boyfriend decided to let Pep Boys change in addition to my power steering belt!). We were shown the work that was done to my car and welcomed to ask any questions or voice any concerns. My car drives like new and I'll be definitely returning to the Avalon Park Pep Boys for continued maintenance or when something else needs repairing (knock on wood!). read more

The "Master Technician" failed to fix my brakes, did not call me to pick it up, caused another problem unrelated to why I brought it in, left trash on the floorboard and a hair net in my cup holder. Of course it wasn't his problem and advised me to speak to the manager, who then defended the mechanics. They had no concern for providing any customer service, work ethics, or performing a job they solicit to provide. After taking my vehicle to another mechanic, the problem was quickly diagnosed and covered under my warrenty! The man who answered the phone asked a couple questions to find out the year and make of my car. After a few minutes he told me the cost would be 230$. This week my family and I got unfortunate news to a family member passing away. Our family lives 7 hours away. I own a MKV Supra which I barely drive, mostly garage kept. With the way things happened for traveling to the funeral, I had no choice but to end up taking the Supra for the trip. Of course when it rains it pours. I found the tire pressure in my right rear tire to be at 20 PSI. I went around looking for immediate help and no shop was able to lift up my car to fix the tire. I called Pep Boys and Anthony answered. I explained to Anthony the situation and he told me to bring the car in to look. Anthony was honest on the phone and did not make any promises. When I got to Pep Boys, Anthony was able to help me out and fix the tire. Anthony is an example of customer service. Understood what's going on and was able to help me out. He knew how important what was going on was to me and did not want me to risk driving 7 hours with a nail in my tire. This place is probably the best car/tire place I have ever been to... ever! My tire blew out and I was quite a ways from my house. With no safe place to pull over and change the tire, I found this shop on the GPS and tried to "baby" the car to their shop. It was 3PM and I was told they were limited on staff so I'd have to drop it off and come back the next day. I really didn't have a way back home so I am scrambling to call people... and checking prices on Uber. Then, Will (service advisor) asked the tech if there was any way they could squeeze me in today. Not only did the tech (Tyler) agree to help, he did it right then and there... without hesitation. He displayed a genuine "service with a smile" attitude. Great service, great staff. I bought tires at Tire Rack, as my car I'd 43 years old and the tire sizes only recently came back into production. I had them shipped to Pep Boys and no sooner than I was notified they had been delivered, I got a call from the Service Tech to come in and have them mounted. I went in the next day, and even though I thought the 4 wheel alignment wouldn't be necessary, they checked it for free and the alignment was fine. The tires look and run great, Pirelli P6000s. Wife had a tire problem and went to the location, paid the fee and had four new tires put on. They threw the spare tire in the trunk, leaving it there for me to properly put back. Called to speak to a manager, Will, who talked to me like he had better things to do. Explained the situation and his response was "do whatever you need to do my man". This along with employees previously hitting on my wife while she has been there and making cat calls, along with being treated extremely rudely in person with men who are unprofessional and act like they don't want to be there, I will never be back to this location. I am pretty late with this but my car had a lot of issues with it. there was the battery, the starter, the lights in the dashboard, and the timing belt. Pepboys did a really amazing job taking their time and figuring out the problem and managed to get my car back to me in less than a week. the communication between the workers and me was amazing always kept me in the loop telling me everything that they learned or figured out. The only reason I am giving this store 3 stars is because they were able to get my tire patched on a very busy day. But the reason I will never go back is due to how they take advantage of customers. My girlfriend went in to get her tire patched and it cost her $20 while when I went to check out the price was $30. On top of that James tried to sell me on rear bearing hub replacement for $700 and once I said I couldn't afford that he tried to cut it down to $500, now this might seem like a great deal until you look up the price of the part they will be using only cost $70 a pop. This means he is saying labor and install charges will cost over $300. Needless to say I understand why the whole work crew was laughing when I left.
