I came for my Tire Pressure Monitoring System ( TPMS) light warning being on. The sales man checked it and he sounds very sincere- He said one of the TPMS is not working and recommended to change all of it for about $ 60.00 each. He said they will not recommend to change only one but it should be all. That is the first time I heard that kind of recommendation. I made an appointment at Walmart tire center for second opinion- in 20 minutes they called me. They said theres nothing wrong with my TPMS. They reset/ re-learned it and the light turned off. They did not charge me of anything. They said because they did not do anything but checked it. For almost a month- the light did not turn on . Went there with a flat tire and they tried to sell me 4 tires. They had a whole cart and lot of BS to go with it. They refused to repair the tire. I left and went to the dealer who not only repaired the tire but said the tires were fine. They still have about 12000 miles of treads left. This is sad. I would not recommend them. I recently came in for a rotation and balance and was upsold on new wiper blades which I agreed to. Today being the first day I was driving in the rain, I turned them on high as the rain was heavy. To my surprise, both went flying off leaving nothing but the metal arms. I had no option but to drive home without them. Please instruct your team on the proper installation of wiper blades to avoid any future frustration or accidents. I had an issue with 1 of my 4 brand new Michelin tires that I purchased from Discount Tire. One of the tires had a high road force (21) after balancing they could not get rid of the vibrations after a total of 6 trips. They refuse to honor the Michelin warranty and switch out the 1 tire citing that the road force has to exceed 35 in order to warranty the tire. I was in the Orlando area, so I decided to drop by Discount Tires on Alafaya, near Waterford Lakes, to get my tires balanced and rotated. I have been going to Discount Tires for over 20 years and have never had a problem. I love that they have our records in their system, so I can go to any state, county, or city to get my tires taken care of. Usually, I can get in and out with an appointment, but this time I did not have one. Nevertheless, I was still able to get in. The waiting room is quite spacious, with comfortable chairs, and there is always AC on those hot days. I would highly recommend this place to anyone needing service on their tires. read more

Got a good deal on a new set of tires. I purchased the road hazard (hopefully I wont need it). The techs were pleasant and helpful. The only thing I didn't like is my wheels have dark residue on them after the tire service as well as my white interior on the driver door. I am a huge fan of Discount Tires, however I usually go to a different location. Today I woke up to a flat tire. Thankfully I already had the day off as I have family coming into town. When I pulled up to this location all the mechanics looked like they were UCF students. Yes, I was judging. Surprisingly, I was in and out within 30 mins. I had a warranty on the tires I had previously purchased at a different locations so my tire replacement was free. My tire was replaced and tires rotated which had been on my to-do list. Two weeks ago, I purchased a set of tires from this location because they were in stock. Unfortunately, during installation, the technicians damaged all four wheels. I was told that I would receive a new set of wheels when I informed the service employee of the damage. However, when I followed up with the manager the next day, I was informed that the rims would be painted or refinished. I submitted a complaint with the BBB due to the situation, and after some time, they finally ordered a new set of rims. However, it turns out that the rims were knockoffs from China. I may have to continue losing time off work to get this issue resolved and would not recommend this store to anyone. read more

Discount Tire has always been the go to for tires and tire service, however, they completely disregarded health and safety guidelines during COVID-19. The associates at the front counter were wearing masks when I arrived, but the associates out in the garage were not wearing masks, social distancing, or regularly sanitizing their hands. The managers were the worst offenders, they were in and out of the showroom, garage, and office interacting with customers and associates while not wearing masks, social distancing, or regularly sanitizing hands. They were shaking hands, using multiple computers, using multiple phones, and touching multiple surfaces while not wearing a mask or regularly sanitizing hands. One of the managers had a slight cough, which gave me anxiety. I was there for an hour and there were times where there were more employees and customers that were not wearing masks than there were wearing masks. I did not feel safe at all, I had to change seats six times just to get away from people that were not wearing masks. It was totally ridiculous. This business is putting their customers, employees and the community at risk of COVID-19. For years, I had been going to a mechanic whom I trusted to work on my vehicle in his driveway. He recommended Discount Tire Co to me a few years back, and I've gone nowhere else for tires since! The staff members are always courteous and seem to genuinely want to help. Pricing here is better than most places, and I've never been recommended to buy tires when unnecessary. Before my drive to California, the guy said that my tires were wearing, but they would make the drive there, though they might need to be replaced soon. I have since driven around California and back to Florida (13,000 miles) with same tires. The guy actually remembered me and said that the tread still looked good and didn't try to sell me more tires. Other places might've said, "All right, you've had your trip, so now it's time for new tires." Discount Tire Co will only sell you tires if you need them! Also, one time a nail punctured one of my tires in the tread area. I stopped by, and they fixed the issue for free in less than a half hour. Not only do you get honest service with better pricing, but you also get free tire rotations! This specific store is located on Alafaya between Curry Ford and Lake Underhill. It can be busy at times, so I often bring reading material with me for the wait. Otherwise, just find a friend to kill time with at Waterford Lakes Town Center or one of the many restaurants around. I don't understand why every time I come here they completely disregard what I need and try to sell me a new set of tires. I came here a few months ago because I had a flat on my car and one of them told me that I should consider replacing all 4 tires because it was almost time. I had literally just bought the car 2 weeks ago so I said absolutely not and asked to speak to someone else. Then he came back and told me that the tires were fine and I didn't need to get anything. After this experience I really didn't wanna come back because they left such a bad impression, but this past weekend they were the only ones available so I had to come back. I just needed them to patch up a hole on our other car because it had a nail stuck in it, and again they tried to get me to purchase brand new tires and told me they could fix the hole. I was so annoyed that I left and drove 20 mins to another location on Semoran Blvd. The mechanic told me they were lying and he was able to fix up my tire without me needing to purchase a new one. My car is driving perfectly find now, the tire is fixed, and I did not need to purchase new sets of wheels. While their staff is super friendly, i highly suggest getting opinions elsewhere and not just rely on the ones from this location because it's clear that they aren't really concerned with helping you as much as they are with getting you to waste money that doesn't have to be spent. read more

So just had an adventure with Discount Tires Alafaya Trails. Replaced 2 of the 4 tires. The worn set was on the front. We asked them to replace the front tires with the new tires. So they put the new tires on the rear and moved the older worn tires to the front. Against our request. Got the vehicle home, found they didn't follow instructions and asked them why they didn't put the new tires on the front. The service manager Dal I, proceeded to explain, you get better traction with the new tires on the rear. I asked on a front wheel drive vehicle? He said yes. So I asked him again, so you're telling me worn treaded tires get better traction than a new set of tires on the front of the vehicle? He said yes, because you get better traction with new treaded tires on the rear of the vehicle. Which is their standard answer. I believe science would challenge this knowledge. And yes, depending on the "expert" you're listening to. Will tell you, you get better traction with new treaded tires on the rear of a front wheel drive vehicle. Their reasoning is the new tires will hold the road better in wet conditions and prevent swerving. Well there's a difference between hydroplaning and swerving. I've never in all my years of driving had a set of rear tires hydroplane, never, ever. Hydroplaning is when a tire looses it's ability to channel water away from the tire tread and allows the tire to ride on the water wave it creates as the tire passes over the road that is saturated with water. I would never put new tires on a the front of a front wheel drive vehicle. It's also proven by his lack of knowledge at Discount Tires. The service manager has never driven on snow. Older worn front tires vs new tires will leave you stranded on snow covered roads. read more

In regard to the store location on Alafaya Trail @ Waterford Lakes, I was impressed with how quickly my service advisor came out to greet me at my car as soon as I parked. He was professional and wore a face mask correctly as per COVID recommendations, as were all of the other employees I could see working, both when I dropped off the car and later returned to pick it up. The provided website link via SMS was helpful to track the progress of my car, and the notice when ready was really helpful as well. The work was done quickly, under warranty (removing a screw from one tire plus a rotation) and it was a good experience overall. I would have given the company 5 stars today had it not been for the struggles I later had with trying to submit this review unsuccessfully through their review website.
