I do not recommend going to this PepBoys. My husband and I took our car to them about 3 weeks ago to fix our AC that was broken and a "leak in our fuel line". After a few days of it being "fixed" our check engine light came back on and off and our car stopped running. We brought it back and we're told that "if the check engine light isn't on we can't do anything about it." Recently every-time we put gas in the car it wouldn't start for about 10 minutes. We brought it to a pep boys in New Jersey and we're told they tore the air filter and our purge valve was "stuck up". My husband payed a lot of money to get our car fixed and they messed up our car even more. Don't come here. read more

I recently had both our cars serviced here on consecutive days. It's very easy to make an appointment, dropping off your vehicle and checking in with the mechanics is very quick and they double check all your service requests as well as give you a rough quote before you leave the store. Their prices are very fair and I appreciate having an idea of what it's going to cost before they start the work. The manager, who I believe is named Jeff, is very friendly and knowledgeable. I know next to nothing about cars and it's pretty obvious, but Jeff and the rest of the people here always take the time to explain things to me and not make me feel like a total idiot, which is not always the case at other automotive repair shops. Our cars around 4 and 6 years old, but I honestly feel like the maintenance we've received from this shop keeps them running well. No matter what the job entails, we usually drop off the night before or the morning of our appointment and every time it seems like the car is ready to go in 2-3 hours. I've had experiences at dealership repair shops that have taken days and weeks in some cases. This time Jean worked on both vehicles and the vehicle ready call seemed to ring before noon both days. I was recently away from this area and discovered a nail in the tire. Because of the urgency of the situation, I didn't think I could make it to this pep boys in Stenton so I brought it to another company. They immediately said the tire was beyond repair and I needed to replace not just the one tire, but all four tires because of the AWD system and the fact that some treads were further along than others. Because I was at work I told them to just put on the spare and I'll think about it. I got a bad feeling about the other company so I took it to Pep Boys on Stenton, but didn't mention anything about my other experience just to see what they would say, sure enough they were able to patch/plug the punctured tire and when I told them what happened at the other company they said "they're pushed by higher ups to sell tires" and there was absolutely no need for me to replace all 4. I highly recommend getting your vehicles serviced at this Pep Boys location. I would not trust anyone else. read more

I just went to this Pep Boys location for the first time and was surprisingly pleased with every aspect of my visit. I came looking for four tires for my Ford ranger pick up truck and the gentleman in their tire center went above and beyond to help me out in every way, at the checkout, he was super courteous, gave me a quote on another part, and Assisted me with a coupon to help me save some money. Went to tire plus and found out the guy broke my aux wire that hooks up to the battery. He didn't know how to fix it so he tucked it away like he fixed it. I needed an oil change. Synthetic oil. 2010 car. Nothing too complex. Paid 70 bucks a year ago at Midas in Roxborough which seemed high but I lived with it. Stood in line for not too long at Pep Boys. Guy asked for my registration so that he could price the oil change. Came back with $112. For an oil change. So I walked out. I called the corporate office to find out if this was standard. Corporate office said that they don't discuss pricing on the phone but I was welcome to open a case. I want to support this Philly company. But they offer no transparency and charge 60% more than their competitors. So my husband made an appointment after receiving an email saying come in for a free alignment check once the day came we called to confirm the appointment and was treated poorly over the phone my husband was working therefore we made a three way call and I spoke over my husband and and was told only one person can talk I really understand so I went on to explain that we wanted to have the car checked and was mentioning the the email I was rudely interrupted as I was saying I also hear a noise in my tire and he goes to say that's not a alignment problem ok sir but the appointment was for the alignment and I know the difference but he stayed rude and said we'll explain it and when I asked for his name I couldn't tell if he said bill or chad he was rude and loud and he stated he was the service manager and hung up the phone I will never go there read more

The Pep Boys on Stenton (Germantown... Philly) continually provide outstanding no-nonsense service. I usually do all of my own repairs, but on occasion I don't have the time and I've utilized this location (I've even brought parts obtained elsewhere for installation). They do a great job, keep me informed, and have even always come in under the estimate. Service is outstanding... no matter who I've interacted with over the years. Five stars all around. The customer experience of a neighborhood shop coupled with the resources of a chain make this location a hassle-free superstar. As for wait time... it's a garage, not McDonalds. Make an appointment, drop the car off, Uber to work, and pick it up when it's done. I've had nothing but excellent service whether something as simple as a tire change to a recent compressor installation. Period. read more

The worst Pep Boys I ever visited, the mechanics are super lazy, they almost always try to have you schedule for another day even when there are no cars there. The phone just rings and rings, and when you have a Pep boys coupon they checkout differently to still make you pay the amount as if your not using a PEP BOYS issued coupon. Something needs to be done about what's appropriate and the staff needs to be trained in professionalism. I brought in my company work Van to be inspected the guy at the front desk asked for my information I provided my paperwork he gave me an issue with the mileage which I don't understand why was needed if they were going to be completing the inspection but I went out to the truck and provided him with my vehicle mileage he then proceeded to ask for my contact information to which I provided him my cell phone number he responded with "No" and requested the number that's on file I advised that my phone went dead after waiting around for service at the location so I couldn't give the office number I asked what could I provide in order to have the service completed mind you this is a "Work Truck that's needed to transport handicapped clients" the guy proceeded to eat Doritos and slid my paperwork back to me and said get the number and come back in an ignorant manner. If this is how the service is at this location, I will be sure to make it known on review sites and I will be working to pull our company's fleet from being serviced at this unprofessional establishment. I've had a personal issue with this company 4 years ago with the service on my personal car and the service is still unprofessional and this shows no change will ever happen! read more

I have always had very positive experiences at this particular location. I like that the service department is open late, so when I needed a tire replaced at 7 PM or new brakes and rotors a few hours before closing it was taken care of without complaint or issue. At this point, I don't know what to say. I used to come here often and while I waited longer than I should, everything on my car was done right. That was in the past... fast forward to the present. I got 4 brand new tires and the installed them fine. But. I waited for 6 hours for installation and tire rotations. When I got out of there I was tired and not ready for work. Skip to a few days later, I feel this vibration coming from my front passenger tire and I thought it was a flat. So I got out and looked, nothing. Anyway the next few days I still here the noise of a flat so I took it back. Apparently my tires weren't balanced at all and because of that, my center cap with the cars logo fell off the front passenger wheel. They said they fixed and that they ordered me a new cap. Did not fix it and a week went by and they didn't order the part. Finally went in again for the 3rd time. They said they didn't order it. Ordered it in front of me and told me to either wait or come back again. So nope, not any more. Basically don't come here unless you have no life.... read more

Was there as soon as Pep Boys opened on Sunday morning. The diagnostic test, that took 2 hours to get to my car, said that I needed spark plugs and coils. Three hours total time, but so far I am pleased with the work. But heads up to the Manager: Absolutely disgusting waiting area. Everything in the waiting area needs a good cleaning!! I went In For a diagnostic. Told the issue (that is unrelated to this post)....afterwards my car would not start. So the mechanic put my car in neutral ....not drive....and then it started. It did not do that to begin with.....so when I got home it would not park!!!! And I didn't go for that problem at all!!!!! read more

Poor customer service I called to ask for a part and all they did was transfer me back and forth for 5 minutes

This is my second review of the Pep Boys at 6200 Stenton Ave. Last time I was there Walter was fantastically fair with his pricing and service and went way above and beyond. This time I talked to Sean who was equally kind and helpful. My car had the catalytic converter stolen and it cost me about 1000 dollars to get it repaired. However, the oxygen sensors I'd ordered were the wrong ones. I bought others from Ebay and went to the Pep Boys. The intial estimate for replacing them I could not afford so I opted for getting just one. Upon installation the mechanic discovered the thieves did more damage than was originally found and they'd actually stolen BOTH O2 sensors. He was unable to clear the codes from the computer so he unselfishly went ahead and replaced BOTH sensors without charging extra. I have no idea why people rate these folks at 3 stars only but damn......I've been treated completely fairly and respectfully from both Walter and Sean and I will continue to tout their service to customers. Yesterday I went to Pepboys after having uninstalled my car battery myself and I walking it to them. The staff was great! They laughed at the faxt that I walked the battery to the store, a girls gotta do what a girl has to do. The store manager Eric could not bare to let me walk the new battery back home ( which was about three blocks from the store). He grabbed the battery and took it to my car and installed it! So I went online and made an appointment to put conventional oil in my car, and I get an option to print a 20$ coupon for the oil change. Then I get to this place and they say they cant put conventional oil in my car! I choose what oil I put in ky car. All they want is to rio you off with the overprised oil. read more

I got there at 9:30, waited in line 20 minutes for tires and an alignment. They have a special buy 3 get 1 free so I got that. What they don't tell you is the special tire package you have to purchase which is $107. I paid over $420 seems high but maybe it's not, we shall see. I guess you can't go cheap when it comes to tires, nor should ylu, I just wasn't expecting to pay $400. The tires come with a 90 day warrantee and you can bring the car back for free rotation for the life of the tires. They gave me a list of items that I needed to have done on my car. The waiting room needs a good scrubbing. read more

The service department here is a joke. Not only are they disorganized, but they slipped in an extra tire "warranty" without asking me. My tires were all over-inflated: 42, 44, 41, and 46 psi. All of these numbers are way too high and the 46 even exceeds the maximum pressure listed on the tire. The tires shouldn't have been higher than 35, let alone 40. Never go here for service. They lie, cheat, and try to sell you things you don't need. Every time I go here, they're talking some poor sucker into hundreds of dollars worth of F1-grade rubbish for their Philadelphia-grade minivan. read more

Visited this PB to get car inspected. I was taken on time and back at my house w/in the hour. 4 stars because there seemed to be a lot of confusion at the check-in desk. Exceptional service, although the wait was rather long it ensured me that they took the extra time to throughly inspect the vehicle and found I had a bolt in my rear drivers side tire. The guys at this Pep Boys are awesome! They are always very quick and efficient with their work. I have had issues with one of my tires slowly losing air pressure over time, and they helped me to identify the issue, they fixed the problem, and assured me that the same tire can still be used safely -- all free of charge! these guys are great, and I will definitely be going back here the next time i need work done. read more

call myself trying to give them a final chance to do a normal maintenance job, thinking hey maybe it was just a bad day.... oh was i mistaken. if umyou have the choice of doing more damage to to your car to get to another shop or stopping by this place, take the damage to your car. stopped by this place to try to get a oil change and upon getting to the shop and waiting 2 hrs to be seen, even though i scheduled a appointment but i digress on that. gets to this shop, and it was determined that my hood was malfunctioning. i goes in to look at the latch myself and blatantly the latch is fine. mechanic proceeds to tell me oh u need a new latch we cant fix that here, i rebuttle back and state that the latch is fine and the wire just came loose, jus gotta hop under the car to trace the wire, put some pressure, and boom itll unlock. mechanic proceeds to say no we cant do that, the manager comes along and is even less help at this point. i leave said shop and goes to meineke down the street, their mechanic says oh its not popping open let me check it out and finds exactly what i said was the issue. literally took him 7 mims to locate and fix the loose wire issue and proceed to do a simple oil change. say ya money, ya time, and ya blood pressure and stay as far away as possible from this place! nothing but lazy and unhelpful people in this place from the top down to the bottom! read more

Will never go to this location again. I waited forever when I was told I would be done right away then after waiting over a hour i asked how much longer and was told I'm next 5mins go by and 2 other cars that arrived after me get loaded. Mind u I only needed an oil change. So I go to the desk again and ask wassup and was told I'm next after those 2 cars so I asked to get my keys back, the guy was nice enough to give me a voucher for a free oil change. So my boyfriend goes the next day with the voucher and they call him a liar, questions how he got it and all this other stuff. I'm the end they do the oil change but lose the voucher and wouldn't give him my keys until he paid $2 tax and never checked my check engine light. read more
