My wife bought four tires from pep boys and one of tires has a slow leak. I am always putting air in the tire every two weeks. We've taken it back several times and the tire still has a slow leak. The Service desk workers do not validate your warranty. read more

I can honestly say without any hesitation that Matt Fasig the manager at this Pep Boys location went above and beyond and provided a level of customer services I don't think I could have gotten anywhere else, even Disneyland and that is the happiest place on earth! What prompts me to say this you might ask? It was Saturday just before 6pm. My step-daughter discovered she had a flat in a parking lot about ¼ mile from this Pep Boys location. She has a newer smaller car and it comes with a pump device with some sort of patch substance but not an actual spare. How much do car companies save by not providing a spare?!? I tried this repair method and no air is going into the tire, I assume I don't know how to work this pump device. Panic sets in realizing that it is now after 6 on a Saturday so most shops are closed. I call some I find on yelp in the general area (not Pep Boys, more on that later) and no answer. I drive to Pep Boys because it is close and this is when I meet Matt Fasig. I explain my situation and he says they closed at 6 and they still have 3-5 customers to clear out before his staff can leave. He says I can leave the tire overnight and they will fix it first thing in the morning. I say I'm not leaving the car overnight and I have AAA so I'm just going to have it towed home and bring the tire in the morning. He could have left it at that. I didn't beg to be helped that day and I could have called AAA and waited for 30 minutes and would have had to come back in the morning with great hassle to me. He says you know what, let me have a look at it, that sounds like a lot of effort maybe we can do it tonight. I explain I don't even have the tire, it's ¼ mile away!! He gets into my car and goes with me to look at the tire!!! I suppose I don't look like an axe murder so it wasn't a horrible idea. He can tell the tire is going to be a loss. She had driven on the flat tire and the damage was unrepairable. I get the tire off and worse than previously assumed, it had a giant hole. Long story short, Matt and his staff get her a new tire and we are back on the road before 7, saving me hours of hassle that night and back and forth on Sunday and he did not have to. Prior to this experience the LAST place I would gone for tires or service would have been a Pep Boys. I just fear they are a corporate monster and looking to turn and burn customers to get that all mighty dollar. I won't speak on price as I'm sure if I nickel and dimed it she could have saved some money somewhere else at a small shop with lower overhead. The moral of this story is that HE GAVE A DAMN about my situation. It wasn't "were closed sucker, come back tomorrow". This is something we all should really take into consideration when spending our money with a company, save a few bucks hopefully somewhere else or go where you know the management gives a damn. I think we all need to place more value on shopping at companies that place effort in customer service like this one and maybe a trend will start. read more

I had an appt at noon today. I was early got there about 11:35. Was told they would pull my car into the bay a little before noon. About 10 minutes after noon they pulled my car into the bay. And it sat there with nothing being done for 30 minutes. At 40 minutes AFTER my appt time. I told them to pull my car out of the bay. And I went to Jiffy Lube. Was in the bay in 5 minutes and on the road in 20 minutes later. Then they had the nerve to send me an email that they were sorry I missed my appt and let's reschedule. read more

I would put negative stars if it was an option. This was some of the worst customer service I have ever had dealing with mechanics thus far in my life, let alone moving to southern California from Chicago. A close friend of mine had recommended the place, telling me that he had a great experience there, despite his car issues, and that they had exceptional customer service. I took my car here with a broken starter that needed replaced immediately, and was extremely disappointed with how rude majority of the workers were upon my arrival, even after making an appointment. There was a handful of miscommunication on their end about when it would be done, and how much it was going to be due to how "backed up" they were. I had left my car overnight to be worked on "first thing in the morning", and found out that my appointment had been pushed back numerous times from their lack of time management (which didn't stop at my second experience). We were told one day, and it ended up being almost three days. We had took the time to contact corporate about our experience, and they didn't do anything for us at all except give us a case number, and tell us to talk with the store manager. The store manager, Matt, had apologized numerous times, and tried to suffice for their terrible customer service with an oil change for a later date. I would not recommend this facility to any of my friends of family, nor will I ever take my business there again. read more

Very impressed! As a female going alone to any car place I have found that more times than not I think I am taken advantage of. Luckily my dad knows a great deal about cars and helps me know when I'm being sold BS. I went to another establishment and was told that I had OVER $3,000 dollars worth of damage on my 2007 vehicle. I was SHOCKED and left. Thank goodness I did. I made an appointment with PepBoys for a simple oil change and one of their multipoint inspections. SO IMPRESSED! Less than $500 dollars later I had 2 new tires, oil change and a couple other issues solved!! Matt even gave me AND my dog who I brought with me a ride home while they worked on my car so I could relax for the day on my own couch instead of in the store. Everyone there was so eager to help and so friendly. Before I left he even lifted the hood and showed me a few things that I could watch and check for myself - making me a more educated driver. I am so impressed and they have won my service for sure. I am glad that I had the whole day off as it did take quite some time - but they also asked and knew that I was in no rush that day. It's hard to find people in this business who won't want to rack up charges as high as they can go. They informed me of what MIGHT need work next time and a price estimate even. Some of the best service I have ever gotten. Found the issue and did not over charge me for the repairs. Had to get some AC repair work done. They did quickly and dropped my car off at my home. They also capped all the fluids and put air in my tires. I need some work done before I get my car smogged. Highly HIGHLY DISSAPOINTED WITH PEP BOYS I DROPPED MY CAR OFF TODAY BECAUSE I HAD AN ISSUE WITH MY ENGINE WAS NOT RUNNING SMOOTHLY AT ALL IT WOULD JERK AND EVEN STOPPED THIS AM, TOOK IT TO PEP BOYS TOLD THEM THE ISSUE THEY HAD MY CAR FOR 5 hrs with no contract of letting me know at least something i kept calling and calling they told me there was nothing wrong i said ok fine i asked for my trunk shockers to be replaced because i already paid for it to be taken care of but unfortunately had the wrong parts and told me to come back no problem let me go ahead since I'm back get it done. They got the wrong parts AGAIN so i spent 9 hrs sitting at home with nothing being done to my car and here is the kicker when i drove off my car started rattling again and shut off completely i am in the middle of the street waiting for my car to be towed as i write this with my check engine line on. I've been coming here to this location for 8 years and can't believe what I've went through will not be giving anymore of my business to these people read more

Brought 3 different cars here over a 4 year span. First time was great, no complaints. Second time they didn't screw the oil filter on properly and it was losing oil. Third time was the deal breaker although they did give me a great deal on the oil change, I asked to get my tires rotated and they were going to charge me $7.50 (free at discount tire and no purchase necessary) but then they told me 2 of my lug nuts we're stripped and they couldn't do it unless I was willing to pay for parts and labor to replace the studs. Also they valued the repair costs to over $1,000!! Come to find out my lug nuts were NOT stripped. My car was sitting for a week because I thought they were stripped and I had a flat tire. You would think going to a place like pep boys that they would be honest and trustworthy, well that's not true. I won't be going here again. read more

Very friendly staff, and quick service too. I had booked an appointment yesterday for Noon, and was in and out in no time. I spent 7 hours here for a simple alignment. I arrived at 1pm and they said they were expecting about a 1 hour wait. So I left and went to the Spring Valley Center and got some ice cream and paid a bill and did some window shopping. They called me and old me it would take until 4pm to get the work done. THEN at 4:30pm, they told me that I needed a new ball joint. I was willing to pay the extra for that, but it took them until past closing time to fix it which was like 7:30pm. The best thing that they could do was give me a rewards card for my patience. I don't know if you should give these guys your service. But my car doesn't shake on the freeway at 85 MPH anymore. But expect a long wait on weekends. read more

I went to the pepboys that's closest to my house which is on broadway in Chula Vista, they would try to refer me to different location and I ended up driving around and my car is still not fixed. I called up the sales clerk his name was James, I realized I needed to get in oil change immediately and he made accommodations for me to come on in even though they were clearly quite busy that day. Before I got around to calling pep boys, I called for other places that I found on yelp and each of them quoted me $74-$71 on this oil change but he quoted me 60 and I was pretty happy with that. They were quick and efficient and the customer service was excellent I'll definitely come back for my next services and see what kind of consistency they have, but I do recommend that you give them a try. read more

Recent visit a few days ago to Pep Boys for what should be a warranty issue on an ignition coil. I set up an appointment for today and was given a printout copy of my original work order for a coil replacement and new spark plugs. The guy pulled up the part number on the work order and checked it online, and, lo and behold, it matches the faulty coil I walked in with. So I wait for my appointment today. In the days between, I checked at O'Reilly auto parts and Autozone just to make sure it was not a part I might have had under warranty with them. I have loyalty accounts at both stores and was told the coil was not on my purchase history at either place. Appointment day is here. I speak with the manager Matt. He and I have a history in which they were trying to charge me hundreds of dollars for a mystery noise they could not diagnose, well it turned out to be a drive belt worth only a few bucks. SMH. But back to this issue. Matt is willing to give me the privilege of paying them $90 bucks for a diagnostic. Will he reimburse me if the part is warrantied? Nope. I know what the problem is, just tell me if it's the part I have under warranty, which it appears to be. He gives me a smart-ass response and says, "sometimes you gotta pay to get your car fixed, bud". Ok, "bud". I have gotten my car fixed there and I have paid you several hundred dollars to do it. But no more. Remember, I have the original work order printout. It clearly shows they price matched their part with Autozone's price. If it's not under warranty, why would I pay you $90 bucks when I can just go buy the new part for $70 at O'Reilly auto parts? The money isn't the issue, it's my history of bad experiences here. 5 stars solely due to the manager Matt is definitely a great manager. They may not have the most knowledgeable or experienced techs but the manager knows how to get the issue fixed for his customers. His employees messed up on information about issues about a leak and oil tank but he reimbursed me with $800 worth of service. I wouldn't go there again but Matt knows how to make it right. Here's a tip for employees and customers, if you think there is a leak bc of splashed grease from ball joint on the power steering pump, check fluids, no decrease in fluid level, no leak. Just got my brakes done along with two tires and an alignment. Customer service was excellent throughout the entire experience, when they told me it would take up to 4 to 5 hours they offered to give me a ride home since I lived so close! Overall a great business, will be returning here for any other car needs. I usually never write a Yelp review but I had to this time time. This store employees are not knowledgeable when it comes to online sales and returns and more training is needed. The facts is I bought a part a week ago which did not work and wanted to simple return it for a refund. I was well within the 30 days and I had the receipt. First I was told I could not return a used part, which was a very weird response. How would I know the part didn't work without installing it on the car. It was clear this employee did not know the return policy nor was he going to read the receipt or the return policy which is clearly posted in the store. The manager happen to be there at that time and he didn't know the return policy either. He had to read it in the store out loud and then the employee gave me a refund. I used to take all my cars to that shop a few years ago but I stopped due to poor customer service which has not gotten any better. I had to wait 30 minutes to return one item and I was the only person in the store at that time and had to ARGUE with an employee who was not knowledgeable of the company's refund policy. Then to top it off the 30 minute wait was due to the staff having their daily meeting at 11 am on Saturday, which is clearly most shops busiest days. Had I known I guess I should have called in advance to ask if they were available to accept my return. read more

They recently replaced my brake pads and roaders. Their price was crazy expensive but told me they have a price beat for competitors by 5% on parts. When I got my first four tires at this place they promised they would do certain things to my car and they didn't do them when I went back and told them they expected me to pay an additional amount for the work that they had promised they would do included with the tires. Well here is the experience that was received. My car was taken in to get a Diagnostic for the A/C. We took it In On Friday and they had it for about 3 hours and when we went to pick it Up Matt said that they had NOT started because his employee had gone on his lunch and what not. We were told to come back the following day at 7am and it would take them about 2 hours to do the diagnostic. We ended up having to call them around 12pm and Terry basically said that they couldn't perform a diagnostic because it was most likely an electrical problem. They went from $50 to $100. We decided to go pick up the car because it just sounded wrong. It took them 45 minutes to return the car. They charged us $50 dollars and it was a struggle to get proof of the diagnostics since that is what they were charging us. Terry had the worst customer service ever. He was extremely rude. We took the car to another place and it turned out be be a fuse; a $25 fuse. Had Pep Boys done the diagnostic that they charged us for they would have caught it. to whom it may concern , my name is orlando mccoy i recommanded my daughter to take her vechicle to 8888 jamacha bl pepboys spring valley i have been dealing with pep boys for many years my daughter took the vechicle to pepboys on april 7th she was trying to get the car smog and they said that they needed to run there on test for bank 1 and bank 2 sensors she left the car they called that evening and told her the car was ready come to find out the just set on the lot all day so i stepped in as a father to see what the problem was come to find out harold and lulu and the tech did not touch the car at all this went on for several weeks they had us to drive the car 20 miles every time so that the monitor would reset so it put alot of stress on my daughter and my wife because they paid over a 1000 dollars i told harlod who do he think he is playing with tricks is for kids he called me i ask him to get me a rental car it was on a sat. harold told me the car place was closed and that he would have me a car on monday he gave me the run around and i told him that i wanted my car that day and it took them 25 days to a job that only require 2 hours to do since this matter happened i am know longer dealing with pepboys because harold and lulu have very very poor customer service.and i also felt that it was descrimintion with race i am also going to bbb to make a report and the bureau of auto mechine so that they can investate harold and lulu thank you . read more

I came in to get a quote on getting my breaks done. I said that if they gave me a good price on the breaks I would also get an oli change. They said I needed to leave my car there so they could check out my breaks and give me a quote, which would be free. When I came back they had done the oli change and said my breaks were fine. I said that I never authorized them to do an oli change. They said to get the "free break inspection" I needed to do an oil change?!?!! It was over $90 for the oil change. I could have gone to the dealership for less than $50! This place is a total rip off! read more
