First impression Clean store, nice staff, came in for an oil change and brake service knowing I needed four new brake pads. They told me it would be $105 for a full synthetic oil change , I knew that was overpriced but the guy showed me a $25 off coupon so that helped. All four brake pads replaced with nothing done to the rotors was $600.a little steep but they had a $150 off coupon on their site. $520 total not a bad price at all. I had a 2001 Honda Accord that I that I just finish paying off. I moved to Tuscaloosa and only used this location to get all changes for 2 years. They stripped my oil plug then wouldn't pay to fix it. One of the times I was getting my vehicle serviced here I told them that I was waiting room. I waited in the waiting room for 3 hours and then finally said something to them. They said oh ma'am your car has been ready we didn't know you were waiting. These people don't care about your car or your time. I definitely recommend you going somewhere else for car services. read more

Terrible work. Will never buy from there again. First initial visit I bought tires and the process was pleasant. After that terrible customer service. Who knew going in for a rotation would turn into a nightmare. It took 3 visits to get a rotate and balance correct. But sad part is the damage that was done to wheel caps. All of the guys were sitting in the office area or where the counter is including a guy that was leaning backwards talking on his cell phone (heavy set red hair) there was a female on a call also I stood there waiting to be waited on. The guy on his phone never stopped chatting it up on his cell phone. When the female finished her call She responded to my presence . I wanted my brakes checked and possibly repaired. Anyway she told me she could give me an appointment for the next day at 2!!!! I mean all of these people sitting around no one can do the job????? I just left. I called at 9:00am and asked for an appointment. It was set up fir 11:00. I told them specifically that I needed to get in and out as quickly as possible. They verified my phone and made sure they had the parts for a oil change and tire rotation - including the spare. Which is unusual I know. When I arrived at 10:55, they were pleasant. The girl at the counter checked my tire tread to see which tire the spare should replace, but it took until 11:47 to get my car into the stall. So service is good. They finally pulled my car out at 12:47. They did a nice job, filled my washer and antifreeze but I was looking for speed and convenience since I was on my lunch hour. I would give them NO stars if that was an option! My daughter who is a UA student went in because her oil light was blinking and to get two new tires. They told her she needed four new tires and that her oil was "fine". I called from out of state to determine wht the oil light was coming on and they told me, "we don't know, because her oil is fine". Had my 2006 Mercedes Benz towed here due to a broken belt. They called me two days later. They said I had a AC compressor that had frozen, which caused damage to both upper and lower pullies as well as the tensioner. They said $2500 and change to repair it. I told them to do no work on my car and that I would have it towed from their store asap. I had the car towed to Warren Tire and Service. They called me and said the car was ready to go, $228 was the total cost, including the tow. If I could submit a negative five star I would. read more

I came to this pep boys after like 5 other places because I was desperate, in a hurry, and confused and everyone else was either trying to over sell me or get me to wait all day, not here. They got in me in and out in two hours with a fixed tire. They were super friendly and very knowledgeable the whole time. Please DO NOT give this place business. My girlfriend was having troubles with her car so we simply dropped it off and figured out what was wrong. So after coming to pick the car up they told us what was wrong and said they would get the part to fix it which was perfectly fine. So once the part "came in" we went back to get it installed, so after they installed it we picked the car up and within a day the car was messing up again with the same "new part" so we brought it back and they then told us they will go get a new part from Birmingham, so we brought it back after they had supposedly gotten this new part and were going to get it installed, dropped the car off...... A few hours later they called and said they didnt actually have the part and that they were refunding everything and that they couldnt help us. Why did you not just admit up front instead of lying about not having any part that could work, instead of making us drive there 5 separate times. Terrible business practice read more

So, I got towed here after getting an oil change from Walmart (Dont ask) and was sort of expecting to get screwed. I'm not sure if it was the specific mechanic I got but he didn't look like a typical mechanic. Was maybe a little nerdy I suppose? I have brought my truck here several times and also bought a set of tires. While they perform good work at a fair price, they don't seem to know much about cars. When I talk to the employees there. I always get a different story on what is wrong and what can be done with my vehicle. Worst of all is their business practices regarding tires which seems to be their self-indicated area of expertise. They have have made me wait several days before they can replace a tire due to their ordering system. Supposedly now they no longer carry a popular brand of tires I purchased less than a year ago. Their mechanics will do in a pinch, but I can't recommend you shop with then for your large automotive purchases. read more

Excellent service, got me back on the road quickly. I was traveling when my radiator started blowing steam on Saturday night. I nearly panicked until I discovered that Pep Boys service is open on Sunday. Initially I went to the other Pep Boys but when they told me they were backed up they called the other location and got me set up. The guys at the second Pep Boys dove right in, found someone who had the parts I needed, got them delivered, installed and ready to roll in about 90 minutes. The price was a little more than I wanted to pay but hey, Sunday morning quick service was just what I needed and just what they delivered. Thanks Pep Boys! read more

Last week I took my car to Pep Boys for a/c repair and was given a quote by Tim the Manager. The price he gave me was really steep. Being a female and not knowing too much about cars; I went with the quote. After the work was completed, he told me that my compressor was replaced, they added freon and they used some type of dye to detect any leaks. They didn't see anything but some time it takes a while, even a day or so later. So, the next day while I was driving I noticed the a/c wasn't blowing cool like it was at first. Immediately I returned my vehicle. When I stepped out of the car I saw Tim. I told him what was going on with my car and he told me they would take care of it. So, about four hours later the manager Tim, called me back to tell me that they would need $2,000.00 to fix my a/c in my 2004 Suburban. He never mentioned any accommodations for my lost. Let's see where to begin. First off they were way understaffed for the amount of vehicles they had. Secondly the customer service was very poor. Had an appointment for 4pm and they did not even have us in the system for having an appointment. By 4:30 they had the car in the bay to "look it over". By 5:30 they had not started on the vehicle even after they made me go to the O'Reilly's next door and buy my own parts and return them so they could start on the car. Yes, that's right I had to walk and buy my own parts. I didn't even get a labor discount for doing so. They were suppose to perform an oil change and did not start until later also. There is more that I could go on about but customer service and price seems to be the two worst things. Oh and I almost forgot. They didn't finish by closing time so I had to pay and Uber to bring me back the next morning to get it when it was done! Never coming back here again!!! read more

Too bad I am unable to give less than ONE STAR. One star is too much credit for this Pep Boy's location, in my opinion. I am absolutely appalled at the terrible service I received at this location today. Here's a brief explanation: I walked out of a restaurant to find my tire totally flat. It wasn't that way when I left my house, so I knew something had happened to it super recently. Luckily (OR SO I THOUGHT), Pep Boys was right down the road. I show them the problem, they tell me to have a seat and wait. That was totally fine. Almost 2 hours later, I was on the phone outside and a technician hollered "It'll be $135.03".. WAIT WHAT? No telling me what's wrong with my tire? Wait I have to have a new one? So many questions I had but he just walked right back inside.. So I went back in and waited at the counter, hoping to get some answers. Not being cliche, but I am a woman and it's safe to say I don't know much about tires.. The only guy behind the desk was on his personal cell phone doing his own thing. So I waited.. and I waited.. and I waited... FINALLY!! EUREKA! He looks up (without taking the phone away from his ear) and waits for me to speak.. I ask "So I have to have a new tire?" It was obvious he did not HAVE ONE OUNCE of about my concern and questions, and proceeded to answer "yea".. So I asked him if I could go ahead and pay and he said "Give me 15 minutes" because obviously his phone call was more important than TAKING MY MONEY.. You know how I knew my car was finally ready?? I SAW THE GUY DRIVE IT UP! Did anyone let me know it was ready? No. Did anyone explain the situation, give me options, anything? No. What if I didn't have the money to pay for the tire? That would've been too damn bad I suppose, because they PUT THE DAMN TIRE ON ANYWAY!!!!!!!!!!! So, I go to the counter and am MORE THAN READY to get out of there after sitting for almost three hours.. and GUESS WHAT? THE STORE MANAGER was just scrolling thru his facebook at the desk in his chair! After several seconds of scrolling thru news feed and answering a call, AT LAST he acknowledges me!! Needless to say, this was the most unprofessional tire place I have ever been to. This was my first AND LAST experience at Pep Boys. Something needs to be done about this. read more
