Man I had my car tow to pepboy in union city to get diagnostics cause my care was smoking and they told me my engine is seized so when I went to go pay for the diagnostic they told me it's going to cost $15,000 to fix it lmfao that's more then the dealership. So I get my car toed out of there took it somewhere else and they said my engine is not seized I just need a head casket. He could have told me they didn't want to do that job cause that price I could have went and got a new car for that price. read more

This location is poorly managed, and the Mechanics in my opinion are not well trained. Walter the service manager I truly believe does not know what he's doing. I bought my secondary vehicle in for repair. They diagnosed the issue as being a rear wheel hub bearing,. I ended up coming back because the Problem persisted. They then say that the hub beating they replaced was faulty, then they called while trying to fix it and say it's the rear end and not the hub bearing, and now I've Paid them for a repair that was not needed and now I still have to put out more money to fix the real problem if that's truly what it is. We took my daughter's 2008 Nissan Altima because she needed a new compressor. Let me also add that this is the second time we have come to have the same car repaired at this location. There were no issues the first time. This time the car would not run if the air conditioning was on. Due to the heat, we needed to get that repaired plus we didn't want any more damage to occur if we prolonged the repair. We were told that we also needed to make other repairs in order for her air to work properly. The total came to $1823. We paid for the service, car was brought around to the front, air was working and things seemed fine. The air stopped blowing cold in two days. We contacted pep boys and took the car back. My husband received a call that the cost would be $900. We were shocked because we just paid $1800 to get the air fixed and didn't understand why there was an extra cost. My husband spoke to Antonio who explained that the car was old and parts were fragile. My husband was not happy one bit but we agreed to get the pumps replaced anyway. This was on Tuesday. I went with my daughter to pick the car up on Wednesday. We were given a discount for the repairs but the total came to $826. So far we have spent a total of $2649 in a matter of four days. When I usually pick my car up from a mechanic, they will either pull the car to the front or direct me to where the car is parked. When I asked if the car will be pulled to the front, Quinn, informed me that the car is "somewhere" in the parking lot. I walked out to find the car. I was confused because just four days ago, my car was brought to the front without an issue. So why is the process changing this time? It's the staff. What's sad is that Antonio, who I assume is the manager was standing right there and heard his staff tell me to go find my car I just spent $2000 on. My daughter walked around along with her friend while I walked around too. We could not find the car. I walked back inside to ask Quinn if someone could bring the car to the front. She then asked if I had the key and to hit the button to make the horn beep. I must have given her a look because she went on to explain that she would do the same if she had the key. I then walked away and back outside to avoid becoming indignant in public. My daughter found the car on the side of the building parked close to the back behind a line of about six cars. I wish I had taken a picture. It was as if the car was parked with the other cars that no longer worked or maybe people owed money for and haven't paid. I was irate. I will drive across town to get better customer service. I'd already accepted the fact that I'm paying over $2000 for services but to get poor customer service on top of that is unacceptable and an insult. As the customer, I am part of the reason any of them have a job. I will not be back. I hope this review sparks change for the better. Inefficient thieves! After waiting for 3 hours, when I had an appointment, these unscrupulous snakes tried to rob me out of $670.00 for front brakes and rotors and a brake flush. I was put on hold two different times just to speak with one person that is suppose to be taking care of me. My warranty company told me that there was no claim put in from pep boys regarding coverage for my vehicle's maintenance. They said pep boys never even called them to make a claim! PLEASE READ THIS!! The Staff at this location are nothing but crooks. I took my car in 7/30 to get my car looked at for a check engine light. I was assured by the technician I would get my car back that after engine diagnostics was ran. I received no update on my car for the entire day. The following day, I called store #104 for an update with my car, they said it had not been processed yet. I told, the tech to give me a call before they close. Still no call smh. Monday I get message saying my car in process, after having to take my girl's car to work. It say the fluids/wiper blades etc required attention.. which was funny because I had just had those checked at Express Oil 7/28. I finally get a call 9am telling I need a purge valve, leak detection, and charcoal canister and that it $1168. The tech said he would have to go get the part and the car would be ready by EOD, it was a 6 hour job. I talked to another mechanic about the services and he told me I was being ripped off, to call back immediately and tell them to stop the work. I called 3 times no answer,when I finally received an answer I was told the work was almost complete... If it's a 6 hour task how were you able to complete it in about 1 hours time? I told him just put my old stuff back on, he said that would be $500 dollars are they wouldn't be able to return my car. I told them go ahead and finish the job. I went to pick my car up, I was told about discounts i was receiving but he didn't know the initial price . There was extra $290 charge for comm correct, I called other Pep boys in that area and they said that didn't know what that was. So, I paid and finally decided I will call corporate. Terrible decisions not only did they nothing to solve the situation or try to mitigate it. They referred back to the store to explain why they charged a Comm correct fee... the whole organization really deserves zero stars. It was many errors in the report. read more

They repaired what they could and once they realized the oil issue was probably more in-depth, instead of calling me and explaining the issue, they went ahead and worked on my uplander, told me it was ready and if I didn't ask about the oil leak being fixed they wouldn't have mentioned it. Hello, I am 63 years old and I have never experienced such negative service. My case started with in August of 2023 and my case has still not been resolved and here it is April 2024. I am not saying all pepboys but the one in Union City Ga. but remind you that they all have the same HR department!!!!!! I took my car to pepboys because I was hearing a knocking sound coming from the front of the car. Remind you that I had just had my front struts changed about two months earlier and they told me that my struts were bad even after knowing that the struts were brand new. They changed my struts anyway and I was still hearing the same noise so that took the car back and changed the front struts again and said that the car was ready. Well once again I still heard the same problem so I was told to take my car to the dealer and get their diagnostic. Well the dealer which is Chrysler and they found that the noise was coming from the ball joints. I took my car back to Pepboys and they said that they would fix the problem and my wife said that she would not trust pepboys to change her bicycle tire and Pepboys agreed to return all of my money and they gave me what they wanted to give me which was $700.20 short and I have been fighting with every since with Pepboys so please take you car to one of your friend mechanics before taking your car to Pepboys!!!!!! Now if i'm delivering a 1 star, it's very bad. As stated in many of my prior reviews especially in this calendar year, I will be keying in on customer service. Pep Boys is as worse as it gets. If I can give it 0 stars...I would. If I can give it Negative Stars.. I would. I may take it to an elephant in the room level. Let's just call it for what it is. The (black) customer service in general is gawd awful. Not all, Not all but alot. I personally have gone out of my way to frequent black ran establishments to prove me wrong & debunk the stereotypes that it had on a community. Now some (black) establishments i've written about , the customer service has been very good and they were commended for it. Pep Boys is prime example of piss poor customer service & avoid at all aspect. Mind you, I've been coming to Pep Boys on and off for years. On this occasion, I have a warranty I thought they would honor. I called this Pep Boys Location the evening before on what I had going on. I was told to come first thing in the morning so the service manager could assist with me. Never on that call that the guy stated that there would be a pecking order or backed up. It's the lack of misinformation and transparency that I have an issue with in which I will further continue. Got there as soon as it opened. When I got there, there was only one customer ahead of me. Problem with this, the customer service was SO SLOW, it took and I counted TWENTY MINUTES just to get the guy ahead of me his key back and to ring him up for a couple of items. Ridiculous. I could be petty and take this corporate. It really is uncalled for and no excuse for the snail like service. When it was time to address my issue (AFTER 20 minutes with 1 customer), I was told my situation wouldn't be looked at for AT LEAST another 2 hours. So I did the common sense thing ... I LEFT. Piss Poor customer service and my warranty was not honored! Highway robbery I thoroughly and highly recommend anyone reading this review and specifically you need to get tires replaced or fixed, do not waste your time or money at this Pep Boys location. November, 15, 2023, I took my 2013 Dodge Dart there because my thermostat light came on and ran hot. I was told the hose had busted and it had been changed. That cost $767.48 About 3 days later, I noticed Antifreeze on the ground and took it back, they told me the antifreeze jug was melting and needed to be replaced, another $260. December 8, 2023 my neighbor knocks on my door to tell me all my antifreeze is running out. I go back and refuse to pay anything this time although they tried to quote me a price. They had me sit there most of the day with no one coming to tell me what's going on and after me tracking down someone and demanding an answer I was told theyre checking it now several times and when it was finally ready I was only told it's ready and handed my keys. I asked what happened and was told there was a part that came loose. I was so pissed and vowed to never go there again. March 13, 2024, all antifreeze leaks out again. I go to a real certified mechanic to find out that the antifreeze has been slowly leaking out from the same hose they supposedly replaced which had the original clamp on it and the connector was broken so it looked like the hose was forced into the broken connector and the clamp(both of which should have been changed) was too big to fit tightly around the hose so hence the drip. I'm writing this review to warn others(mostly women) to stay away from this place!!! read more

DO NOT GO HERE FOR AN OIL CHANGE!! The only reasons I went there was because I could make an appointment, the oil change included a tire rotation, and I had a coupon for 25% off. RIP OFF 100%!!! First, the tech arrived *over an hour late*, so the appointment time was a joke. Then, he didn't even rotate my tires, and when I asked why not I was told "the wear is even and the only time you rotate tires is when there's uneven wear". . You rotate your tires to *prevent* uneven wear. But after waiting over an hour just to start the appointment, then the guy moving slower than molasses in January and the car already off the lift, I didn't have time to insist he rotate my tires. Lastly, there's some kind of crazy charge on the receipt that makes no sense ($40 for a 'performance service kit' that was neither discussed with me beforehand nor requested), the oil change wound up being $91 (NINETY ONE US DOLLARS!!!!) and that was AFTER the 25% discount. It's Sunday so I can't call the corporate office today, but their corporate customer service rep had better drink some extra coffee in the morning because I am going to give that person as earful. My advice to you is to go to Take 5 or Jiffy Lube. Pep Boys Union City, GA is a money trap. read more

The check engine light was on and we took the car to Pep Boys in Union City. We had suspected that there was an issue with the catalytic converter. When we returned to pick up the car; we were told that the components associated with the catalytic converter were faulty and replaced. When asked, we were told that the catalytic converter itself was fine. We were given a $1200 bill. A month later, the check engine light was back on. We returned to Pep Boys in Union City. They looked at the car and within minutes told us that the catalytic converter needed replacement (duh!). They then charged us $100 for that diagnosis. At this point, I'm not sure what was ACTUALLY done for $1200. Obviously, the check engine problem was not resolved and we were hit again for $100 to be told what we suspected in the first place! We will not be returning to this Pep Boys and have written this review to be of service to other vehicle owners in need of help. read more

I purchased tires from them 5 months ago. A couple days ago I noticed one of my tires had a slow leak so I visited this location to get my tire repaired since I have Hazard protection on them. When I got there, before even diagnosing the problem, they instantly started quoting me prices for new tires... Red flag!!! Obviously, they had no intentions of even attempting to repair my tire, which is why they quoted prices from the jump. I wonder if they even looked at my tire. Anyway, after five hours of waiting, the rep said that my tire needed to be replaced. I called BS and left. I went to the another Pep Boys and guess what? They were able to fix my tire, no charge! Worst car repair establishment in town! My husband's company listed this place as an approved car service place for his company vehicle. After dropping off his vehicle at 9am for a simple oil change, no one called him to notify him that his car was ready after having the car for over 5 hours. He tries to call them 5 times to get an update and constantly placed on hold for over 10 minutes. They even hung up on him during one of those attempts after they placed him on hold. First, they couldn't find his car. Then during the next call, they couldn't locate his paperwork. This is the worst customer service we've ever experienced. read more

I've read the other two reviews on this location and I guess I just came on the day that the more unscrupulous employees were on the clock! I needed an oil change and to have my brakes serviced; I expected a total of about $300. After their "inspection", they told me I had an oil leak that would run me about $500 in labor, parts NOT included. My immediate reaction was "No way in hell!" I hadn't seen any oil puddles under my car EVER, my oil light never came on and I hadn't seen my check engine light in ages! Needless to say I got the hell out of there and went to a place that had done good honest work on the car before. Result? I got the two services I requested for a lil bit over $300 with no report of an "oil leak"! The chain lost a customer for LIFE. I have been a loyal customer with Pep Boys since 1983. My first time I went to the Pep Boys in Union City, they replaced my alternator. I bought an extended warranty for $54.00. On or about August 22, 2017 I took my 2011 Nissan Juke to the shop for possible alternator problem. The service department tried to check the alternator, but the battery I had was too drained. So they put in one of their batterries in my car. After checking the vehicle, they saw that the alternator was not charging like it was designed to do, so they replaced my alternator at no charge, and gave me another year warranty on parts in labor. The Pep Boys company cares about their customers. If you ever have a problem contact Customer Service and or Customer Relations, they really want you to go away a happy customer. read more

This place is consistently unimpressive. My nephews power steering belt broke on his 2008 Nissan Altima near here. We came in for an estimate. They offered the belt for $35 if we purchased and installed our selves (same belt is $20 at Autozone); however if they installed it; the cost for the belt alone would be $65! Plus $130 in labor! How does the cost of the part (belt) double because THEY installed it??!! If you come here ... ask as many questions as you can before you let them do any work. read more

My car was given an oil change and other services within 20 to 30 minutes. I got a great deal on the oil change. The ladies were exceptionally funny and gave great customer service. You know you always worry about going to a mechanic but i had a great experience here. The service was fast, everything was explained to me well and it felt like they wanted to take care of me. Ask for Pam, she was fantastic!!! They didn't want me to pay for repairs that I did not need. I went in thinking I would need an extremely expensive replacement of parts (wheel bearings and other things I don't fully understand). They completed a thorough check and it turned out to be an easier (and less expensive, depending on where I get my tires) fix. I will definitely go back! read more

***I'm currently waiting on Pep Boys to complete services on my car tomorrow - Sat, 7/29/17.*** I took the car in on Thursday morning around 9:00 a.m. for a rear passenger tire inspection (I purchased all my tires from them), an oil change and to check the engine. They called me around 11:00 a.m. to let me know that the engine issue revealed the need for a tune-up. They also told me that the price would be $800+ of which I'm very skeptical. I know I've been had!!! I received a call from the mechanic at 3:43 p.m. and he told me that some parts hadn't come in and he wouldn't be able to start on my car until Friday. I was okay with that because he said it would be ready on Friday. When I didn't receive a call all day, I finally called them at 3:52 p.m. I was told that the mechanic hadn't come in today (it is now Friday). I asked to speak to a manager (she told me her name was Miss K. - the letter). She said that the mechanic was the only individual who could perform that work. I informed her that I had rented a car for 2 days so that I would have transportation and needed to get the rental back by 9:30 a.m. Saturday. I also asked about the extra services (3-step fuel system clean) which caused the total to skyrocket and she said it was needed in order for the spark plugs and other tune-up parts to function properly. However, I'm quite sure I had this same service performed by them around September 2016. I plan to ask them not to perform this cleaning. I am angry and disgusted by their dishonesty and lack of consideration. They can kiss my business goodbye. I won't be coming back to this store in the future. read more

They did not have the rotors in stock for my car, so they gave me better ones. They discounted my total so that I did not break the bank. I was travelling from Atlanta to Montgomery when my 2008 Suburban died. This was Sunday afternoon and we were glad PepBoys was open. Keima called us numerous times to ensure our wrecker was on time and that they would be waiting for us when the got there. She was extremely professional and provided excellent customer service. When I arrived, Walter was extremely helpful in explaining what they would be able to do vs. not be able to do. The next day, I received a call from Walter explaining that the service required was going to be Chevrolet specific and that Pep Boys was not able to repair my problem. I have come to this pep boys for the past year and I was concerned with the work that they have done and if it has been done correctly. As a woman I am always worried that mechanics may try to take advantage of me. I got 2 new tires awhile back and paid for a rotation which wasn't completed. Well it was confirmed that they have been taking my money and not actually doing the work. This past Saturday I took my car in because it was having trouble starting. I asked for a diagnostic, an oil change, a tire patch, and new windshield wipers. They claimed they didn't find anything wrong with the car and didn't even give me new wipers. So today (4 days later) my car wouldn't start at all. I had it towed to the actual dealership and they found that it was the battery. I will not be coming to this location again. read more
