I'm going to sadly have to give them 3 stars I had an appointment set at noon for a simple oil change with the car advisor app because I wanted my discount. I got there at 11:57pm and told the employee that I'm using that app, it took forever to check me in due to the guy helping me being new (literally his first day) and the process is different when using the car advisor app. I think I finally got checked in at around 12:20ish pm, my car didn't get pull in until after 1pm and idk when it was done but I didn't leave 2:17pm It was instantly busy, everyone had an appointment and apparently all at the same time. When I arrived, they were having trouble with one guys car. One couple had a 10am appointment and were there for over 3 hours! As I was checking out, a customer from the morning came back because the issue wasn't fix and it seemed worse They don't have a lot in stock so they obviously need to order the parts but they seem like they have trouble getting them. I've heard an employee say it could take 2-5 days to get the part but heard multiple calls asking when/why hasn't their car part arrived yet Lastly, not really pep boys felt.....a customer literally brought their guitar with them and started singing. DO NOT come here. Honestly-, I'm guessing this is with every single pet boy but, these people will try to manipulate you into paying three times more than what you actually need to pay. I went to a mechanic down the road, an independent mechanic, but still a mechanic, and they looked at what they were going to charge me, and what they were telling me was wrong with my car, and, most of it ended up being way overpriced by like four times and some of it ended up being not a big deal at all or not even there. please, I beg of you save your money I know that some people are nervous to go to independent shops but there are so much good mechanics just right down the road from this Pep Boys who charge way less and show you exactly what they are doing and why they are doing it. And not only that, some of them also, give you warranty on the parts that they replace for your car. This place is not worth it at all. Please go spend your money somewhere else because in the end it will save you almost $1000 less!!! I learned this the hard way! adding to this, they always try to manipulate you no matter what, which is just completely horrible of the workers. I get if they make some kind of commission off of this, but I was not going to go through with a procedure, and the Mechanic, who was dealing with me, while he was printing out the quote for me, spoke to the other Mechanic and said " oh you're that person that didn't get this replaced, they ended up getting in a really bad crash right after they left our shop" it was obviously tactic, and I wasn't going to fall for it. read more

I knew that couldn't be, so I took my car to a different mechanic and he said all I needed were new break pads and a tire. These people scam people for money!! I called pep boys this morning to get a wheel alignment and an oil change. I am going on a long trip and they were very accommodating to get me in as soon as possible. Within 2 hours my car was done. I noticed that my oil had been running out faster than usual, the service person gave me suggestions on what could be causing this and how I can try to fix it. No one pushed me to buy anything or do services that weren't really needed. They fixed a light I had on in my car, and they had great customer service. I took my car in for a brake pad replacement estimate. It took them 2 hours to come up with a crazy HIGH estimate. To put this in perspective, all they had to do was drive my car to the lift, push the button, and take 2 wheels off. It takes me 2 minutes to use a jack and impact gun to do the same job they did in 2 hours. They purposely waste your time so you get tired and just use them so it doesn't feel like a total waste of time and act like they did 2 hours of labor which makes people feel bad going somewhere else. It's a total SCAM. I personally just hung out and had a coffee while waiting and spent $0 so I didn't lose out. But I feel bad for anyone that isn't aware how much a service should be. They truly will take money from those that don't know better. They'll gladly up-charge you $1,000. Save yourself the time and money. Go somewhere else. read more

Went to get an oil change and I happened to be charged for a fuel system cleaner that I did not ask for. My refund for this was $5 taken out of the register and not a refund made to my card that should've been $20. I was told that I needed new tires and an air filter aside from the oil change and that it would come out to be almost $400. I bought all 4 tires less than a year ago. Look the money is not a problem but suggesting services that are not needed and charging me extra for something I did not request is unfair and encourages me to suggest to not do business here. If i could give them 0 stars i would. Awful experience. I came in here last week because my car had hot hair being blown instead of AC and in Florida you need AC. I go here because it seemed pretty easy online to make an appointment. As a college aged girl, i know car places are known to take advantage of us not knowing much about our car issues so i was careful and was on the phone with my dad and grandpa before paying anything. I waited for 4 hours to be told i need a whole new compressor and a bunch of other things that would cost 2500 dollars. I decided to get a second opinion somewhere else because that's a lot of money to spend, and declined the services. was still charged 50 bucks just for being there and for them to run a "courtesy" diagnostic on my car when they didn't do anything but waste my time. Kid you not, the next place i go to said i just needed a 40 can of AC shit from walmart and i'll be fine. Sure enough, my cars AC is perfect now. Ridiculous, will never be back. My car broke down the night before Memorial Day and I was very worried no mechanics would be available the next day due to the holiday. I was stressing because I needed my car to get fixed on Memorial Day so I could drive to work after the holiday. My commute is 20 miles so I'm very dependent on having transportation. On Memorial Day, I checked all the nearby shops and found they were all closed. Dammit! I did a search and found that Pep Boys were the only shop open on Memorial Day in my area! I took my car in and explained what happened before my car ceased firing up when cranking the ignition. They counseled me on what the problems was and also assured me it would get fixed the same day. They did it for a fair price, gave my car back in working order and thanks to these guys being open on Memorial Day, I was able to drive to work the next day. It was a great customer service experience overall. They were absolutely clutch. It was great doing business and I'll be sure to spread the word and come back the next time I need car repairs. I'm a mechanic with my upstart MorganSport LLC. Being away from my shop. I took my 1995 Impala SS in for a simple brake flush and ended up with over $3,000 repairs. Hald of it cause dmy damage for their negligence. First, I should of never agreed for their complimentary inspection. I ended up paying $1,331 for my cooling system to be done because of a upper radiator supply hose being loosened. Then, they split antifreeze coolant on my opti-spark distributor harness. They did accept blame and stated they will repair it. Which they did not. They just replaced the distributor. Which I had checked at a local reman shop. It was still good. The harness connection was still bad. Unfortunately, I had to get back to work in Maryland. While driving, my car started popping fuses and cutting off on I-95. Soon enough my electrical system started to short out. Instead of doing it myself, I had another pepboys in charlotte take care of it. Which cost another $1,351. The charqlotte store contacted the this orlando location. The service manager Jeff lied and said he never agreed to the harness being repaired. Now, I am telling all of you to check your service sheets, ask questions, if you have a mechanic friend, ask them question a. This franchise locations is horrible service and phony smile. I wouldn't be so negligent to my customers but this location will screw you over if you don't know what to look for. Besides tire install and rotations, maybe a oil change. Ford said I could leave my car with them until Monday (this was a Saturday) and maybe they could get a look at it. I noticed white smoke coming out of my engine compartment as I drove down the road on the way to work and after slowing down, determined that it was steam. I checked my temperature gauge and it was still in normal range but slowly rising so I immediately looked for some type of auto repair shop. Fortunately, there was a Pep Boys within a half mile of where I first noticed the problem so I immediately pulled in and shut off my Chrysler Town & Country mini-van. Eventually a service writer asked what I needed and I explained the issue and let him know the temperature gauge had never indicated that the car had overheated . He said they would pull it into the garage and evaluate it. Within ten minutes he called me over to the counter and gave me the "news." Eddie, looking intently into his computer screen, said I needed to replace both the top and bottom radiator hoses because they were "bad" and one was actually loose which had caused the leak. He also said I had to replace the thermostat and flush the radiator system then replace it with new anti-freeze. He then looked at me and said the total cost would be $696 plus tax. I almost choked as I had replaced many radiator hoses as a youth and knew the costs per hose was certainly less than $50 each and the fluid couldn't be more than $30 at retail. I asked why he thought I needed a new thermostat and he said "to be safe." I said absolutely not. I asked if there was any "deal" he could provide and he took a few minutes on his computer and came back with "$497 if we don't replace the thermostat, but that's the best I can do, and I won't guarantee anything since you need a new thermostat" I said no, please pull my car out and I'd nurse it down the street to another shop. I told him I thought he was trying to rip me off and he got angry. He then said to take my car and walked over and pulled my car out of the bay it was in, handed me the keys and said "good luck in trying to find another place that can fix it for less." I then very slowly drove my car down the street to a Tuffy's auto repair which was lonely about a block away. A service writer gave my keys to a mechanic right away and he pulled it into a bay and did some checking from under the hood and from underneath the car as I waited with a cup of fresh coffee they offered. They came back quickly and said they could find nothing wrong except that the top hose was pulled completely off, and by that they meant that it looked like someone had pulled it off it's normal place on a nipple stem on the radiator and had twisted it up to be on top of the radiator. They also said someone had removed and left the radiator cap off which was down in the grill area. Other than that, they could see nothing else that was wrong. I asked if the hose could have come up and been in the position it was in on its own and he said "no way, someone would have to pull it up there on top of the radiator." He said the original problem may well have been just a loose bracket on the hose which let the hot fluid escape as steam from the loose hose, but he could find nothing wrong with anything else, not even the hose or bracket itself. He then summarized the total cost for the repair which included labor to re-install the same hose (which he said was in good condition), fill the radiator system with new anti-freeze, pressure test the sealed system, then drive the car for 15 minutes to insure there were no issues when the car got hot or when driven and said: "here you go!" He then gave me the keys and a bill for $62 that included the cost of the fluid, labor and stress tests. I have been driving the car all day in 90+ degree Florida heat and it has been working fine with my AC going full blast in stop and go city traffic. My conclusion is that you should avoid the Pep Boys on East Colonial if you have a problem that they can make you think you don't have any options other than what they are saying "has to be done," and instead find a good and reputable shop like the Tuffy's down the street near the Colonial and Rouse intersection. Been going here for three years with loyal business. Recently had a/c go out and brought it in. They charged me $540 for a "diagnostic test", Freon replacement, and circuit board replacement (which was the heavy hitter). AC lasted two weeks before the SAME ISSUE. Was told that I should've run the car and returned, which is easy to say after the fact as the employee I worked with initially never informed me. Come to find out its a leak in the pipe that's an issue in which they wanted to charge me $440 to replace. NEVER ACTUALLY NEEDED THE $500 CIRCUIT PANEL REPLACED. This place gave me the run around with faulty diagnostic tests and poor experience and service. Come here only if you want elementary skills and experience. Never again will I return here and I advise all to do the same. Crooks and scumbags at their finest trying to take advantage of a college student.
