Because we bring cars there from a business and they need approval to fix them he treated me like I wasn't a customer and gave me attitude about waiting for approvals to fix while customers have to wait. I ordered 4 tires from Giga Tires and had them shipped to the PepBoys on 729 Philadelphia Pike in Wilmington, DE for installation on Sat 01/27/24 at 9:00 am. Even though I prepaid for the tire installation service (through Giga), the employee,Raymond, was unable to process the PO. He was very rude and disrespectful to me. He made me wait an hour before he told me that I needed to come back on Monday (to have my tires installed) because he needed to contact Giga during their business hours for payment authorization. I called Giga on Monday and I was informed that Raymond processed the payment incorrectly and there was no need for my installation to be delayed until Monday. Note I stayed home for work for nothing!!! When I dropped my car at Pep Boys on Monday, Raymond had an attitude and accused me of informing Giga that Pep Boys refused my service (which is not true). I told Giga that Pep Boys would not perform the service until they received payment. When I went to pick up my car, Raymond was very rude to my boyfriend and I. He said my tires were cheap and his team had a hard time installing them. He claimed my rim was broken (when I dropped off the car) so I went to the car to investigate. When I started the car, I noticed the low tire pressure light was on. I immediately returned to Pep Boys to report the issue. He claimed the low tire pressure light was on when I dropped off the car. He also claimed that two of my pressure sensors were broken. Note, he did NOT call me beforehand to inform me of these issues. My rim and sensors were NOT broken before I went to Pep-Boys. The Toyota Dealer performed a multipoint inspection on my car less than 2 weeks ago and did NOT identify those issues. The dealer only identified that 2 of my tires were bad. read more

I took my newly purchased used Cadillac to Pep Boys for a minor repair last month. Not only was the service great, but the manager, Justin, spent quite a hit of time teaching me various stuff about my car (newbie owner here). I stopped by today when my "check right rear tire pressure" came on. He spent 10 minutes putting air in the tires, checking and topping off the oil, and about ten more minutes answering questions i had about my model of car, then sent me on my way with no charge. This place was great. I made an appointment online. Brought my car in. Told them what I needed done. The work was done well, haven't had any issues. My only gripe is, I had to wait a half hour passed my appointment time to wait for the work to be started. Also, not everyone at this location is cross trained in various types of specialties for the vehicles. You may have one guy that does one thing. I was told I may have to wait until the brake guy gets there depending on the type of brakes I have. Overall I was ok with it all. read more

I had a nail in my tire. Triple A put the spare on and said "this tire is definitely fixable. Just take it to an auto shop, have them take the nail out and patch it up." I went to Pepboys and told them what triple a said. I was told "well triple a lies." They looked at the tire and they said they couldn't fix it. They said I would need new tires. I asked if I could buy a tire from them. They said they don't have my kind of tire and wouldn't be in until Thursday. Since I thought I needed new tires, I took my car to Costco and ordered new tires. Half an hour later I received a call from Costco saying "we just looked at your tire with the nail in it, it's definitely fixable. We just need to patch it and you'll be great. We will refund you for the tires because you don't need them." read more

I wasn't planning on writing a review, but Yelp seems to know I was there and wants a review, so here it is. I had a flat tire on a Saturday about a month ago. I took the tire off, looked it over, found two small metal objects in the tire that I circled with a grease pencil and drove it (in a borrowed car) to my local repair shop that I trust. But it was 1 pm and the shop was closed. So I drove the tire up Philadelphia Pike to this Pep Boys. Nice enough guy at the counter took the tire and I showed him the two objects I found but asked him to find the hole and plug it. This Pep Boys closes at 6pm on Saturday. I got a call back from them at 5:45 and was informed that because of the proximity of the two objects I found (they were evidently too close together), it was their corporate policy that they couldn't fix it. By that time, I had no other options that night for a second opinion, and everything else was closed Sunday, so I had to wait until Monday to take it to my usual repair shop. Turns out that neither of the objects in the tire that I found had actually punctured the tire - there was another hole, which my shop plugged at no charge and the tire has been fine since. So this particular Pep Boys held my tire for a day, didn't tell me anything about their corporate policy of not plugging tires with punctures close together, and then DIDN'T EVEN REALLY CHECK THE TIRE FOR PUNCTURES before telling me they "couldn't" fix it, leaving me without a vehicle for a weekend. That is just lazy service and I won't be going back to this Pep Boys. read more

I went in bc my car was shaking at a certain speed, I need to get an alignment. While I was there they did other services too everything was fine. Two days later my car started shacking again. Made an appointment to take it back showed up for the appointment, the guy said they could not look at my car today bc they where behind. Ok things happen a call would have been nice though. So went back the next day the guy said he tighten some things up. But I will still feel shaking bc my back rim was bent. This couldn't be true bc I just got 4 new rims. I told him this he said I don't know what to tell u. So I just leave bc basically it was no point. Went to lea boulevard automotive, I got Angelo sir to work on my car. He tested drove it and said yes the wheel is shaking and aligned my car for me. It's been about three months and still no issues. Long story short I got ripped off by pep boys and had to pay again for the job to finally be done right. read more

I had called last Sunday to schedule an appointment for Tuesday at 10 am for an OIL CHANGE at the 729 Philadelphia pike in Wilmington de. I showed up on Tuesday at 9:30 and dropped off my car. I called at 1:45 to get an update on my car. I was told the car had not been touched yet but would be tended to next. I arrived back to the facility around 2:30 , where I called and asked for an update on my car. I was told that the car would be done soon and would receive a call back in 20 mins. 10 mins later. I saw the employee take my car from the lot and into the garage for it's oil change. The car was finished at 4 pm, an hour and 40 mins after my last phone call, in which I was told That I would receive a phone 20 mins later. Never even received that phone call. I will never be coming back to this pep boys and will share this experience with others. This whole experience was completely ridiculous and I can't even express how disappointed I am with this. The employee told me that that they had been busy, which is why the car had not been worked on, however I had an appointment at 10 and no communication except for myself reaching out. Terrible customer service. Will be contacting pep boys corporate office to file complaint. read more

Went in for an oil change, and the employee at the front counter said he couldn't find my appointment despite me providing a tracking number. He said I could still drop the car off. I called an hour later, and the same guy said they were working on it. I come in a half hour later and the car was still sitting in the parking lot. The mechanic had left for the day. He walked me through the entire process of getting new brakes and rotors without trying to force me to get my entire car serviced. He also saved me over $130 in-store. Went to my appointment 10 minutes in advance waited a half hour while the owner ran around the store just to tell me my tires I ordered were not there. Left work early for no reason. I will never go back to this pep boys again at this location. My initial entrance was around 12:30, I was told to come back at 2pm and they will see me in order to have my headlights restored. I came back at 2pm to find out I have to wait until 3:30pm when the manager comes so I can get the work done. I waited in the parking lot from 2:00pm until 3:30pm because I didn't want to waste gas going back and forth. Once I went inside the store, the manager looks at my car, inspects it and tells me he has to get a tool. Okay, I am thinking the dude is getting a tool, I go inside to find out this dude had a meeting to go to and he won't be back for two hours so I can wait until he comes back!!?? What the fuck?! rip off alert! I was a steady customer at this PePboys and used them for routine service on several vehicles. I was familiar with most of the desk personnel and trusted them. So when the ac stopped working (blew air but not cold), it I took it in. They put in a can of freon ($125) and also, without telling me, removed the relay for the ac compressor clutch. Of course it did not work;there is no way it would blow cold without the relay. Luckily, I checked the relay box myself, saw it was missing, bought a new one for $5, put it in and the system worked fine. If I had not checked myself, they probably would have charged me for a new compressor ($1000+). Manager Ronnie tried to tell me it was an honest mistake. Highly recommended!! This pep boys location is really looking to help its customers as much as they can. My tire blew out on 95 just an hour before they closed. I called to see if they had time to change my tire that day because I had to drive home. Jay who was working the counter all day on his own was so friendly and told me to bring my car and he'd take care of it. The shop was really busy when I got there. Jay was going out of his way to help a man who's battery died down the road. Multiple customers were coming in and out and being helped in a timely manner. Still, this is all just jay behind the counter. After all this i still got my tire replaced, all of my tires filled and I was out of there within 30 min. read more

Last night while driving up 495 several of my dashboard warning lights came on out of nowhere. Several days earlier I had the fortune of encountering a rouge tire on 495. I thought I'd made it through that fiasco relatively unscathed, but it turns out I wasn't so lucky. A half hour before they were due to close I called this location in a full blown panic. I commute from Philadelphia to Newark so I happened to be about as far away from help as I could possible be. Despite my inability to articulate the problem clearly Seth the service manager said he'd do his best to help me out. The following is a list of things Seth and Edward (the mechanic) did to help me out: 1. Edward stuck around to take a look at my car despite obviously being done for the night. 2. Seth listened carefully as I explained the situation and took me through the possible outcomes while I waited. 3. Seth also listened kindly as I whined about how terrifying car ownership is. 4. Seth expressed genuine concern as to whether I'd be stuck if the car was inoperable and, like a true gentlemen, offered to drop me at my friend's place if need be. 5. Edward and Seth showed me what was wrong with the car, explained exactly what I needed to do to get home safely, and gave me a work order to bring to the next mechanic. 6. The grand finale: Seth didn't charge me. I can be a bit of a banshee when I'm panicked, and I've had enough bad experiences with being condescended to by mechanics and service managers elsewhere that needing emergency help with my car is pretty much my worst nightmare. Seth and Edward were kind, patient, professional and genuinely helpful. I can't recommend this location enough! read more

First let me say that Doug and Debbie are on the ball! They both took care of me with exceptional service. Five starts there! I would highly recommend this location. My one star rating is based on Pep Boys rewards program. Worthless program. I was unable to log into my account months ago. Called the reward program girl and she had computer problems after being on the phone with her for 40 minutes. She was going to mail my rewards coupons to me. Never got them. Called rewards program again a few days ago. Same computer problems, told to call back in 24 hours. I did call back since I had a $800 repair being done on my car. The girl told me that I had a $10 reward coupon I could use and a $100 dollar coupon just expired that I could not use!!! In addition, I could still not sign into my rewards program online! Never again Pep Boys!!! I spent thousands over the years there and no rewards! Sorry goodbye Pep Boys. Your competitors will be getting my business! read more
