I didn't love dining at Peperoncino. The food was average. The waiter was forgetful and under our table was a collection of dirty napkins and crayons from the previous guests. My husband and I ordered the Pecorino Fritto ($10.00) It is fried imported pecorino romano cheese drizzled with honey and sprinkled with a spicy Peperoncino. It looked great but the cheese was especially hard nuggets and became boring after gnawing on a couple of them. We also ordered clams and mussels in a pomodoro sauce. ($21.00) They were delicious and the sauce was very good. The price was especially high considering the portion size. For entrees we ordered the Pasta with Bolognese Sauce ($21.00) and the Chicken Parmesan ($22.00.) The Bolognese was very meaty. They did not offer fresh Parmesan to sprinkle over the top like every other Italian restaurant. This might have helped kick up the bland taste of the sauce. The homemade pasta under the sauce was very good. The chicken Parmesan had to be sent back because the chicken was extremely over cooked and this caused it to be severely dry and very unappealing. The pizza looked good and seemed to be what several of the other guests were ordering. I think that it may be a good choice if you dine here. read more

We have eaten here twice now and attended one of their wine events. Without fail the food that Chef turns out is wonderful! For our anniversary my husband called and spoke with them about a food issue I have. Chef came to our table talked with me and prepared me a lovely meal that did not feel like a compromise!! We ordered a meatball appetizer (4 meatballs), I had a seafood soup, and my husband had a prosciutto pizza. Let's start with the food taking forever to come out? Why? This place is tiny and there aren't that many people here. Second, my husbands pizza was super dough-y with practically no sauce. It was dry and the prosciutto was chewy and kinda slapped on the pizza. Presentation was bleak. My seafood soup was decent. A little small for a $15 soup. I also ordered a side salad which was pretty lame. The dressing was good but it was a lump of good greens and threw tomato wedges and inedible olives. The bread w/ cheese and olive oil they gave us when we sat down was very good. The bad: Our server forgot to bring my drink and never re-appeared so I couldn't ask for it again. We ordered the bruschetta w/ mushrooms and pancetta (~$14). It was not good. There was one piece of mushroom (the reason we ordered it) on every piece and the pancetta was overly greasy. The bread was very dry and crumbly. Hardly edible. The pesto gnocci with walnuts and cheese ($27) was way overpriced for the quality of the ingredients and not flavorful. Had a nice lunch here with some girlfriends. Their food is very authentic and very delicious. Their octopus is very very good. The parking can be a little confusing if you have never been there but aside from that it's worth a visit. This is a quaint, high-end but casual authentic Italian bistro. The service has been welcoming and attentive both times we visited. The dishes are authentic Italian and the server was knowledgeable about the menu. The crunchy fresh bread was topped with grated cheese, but we didn't get any olive oil to accompany it. I had the Paccheri pasta with a Porcini mushroom tomato sauce and large shrimp. It is a bit pricey for some pasta dishes, more about quality than quantity. Despite the price, we shared dessert as well, since I finished an entree for a first time. My mother had the same thing as she did before, frutti di mare. It was filled with seafood and the large option, more like a regular size, cost as much as mine which was more on the light side. My son had a good sized spaghetti and meatballs. We also enjoyed the recommended orange cream filled pastry dessert with Nutella and vanilla gelato. We were celebrating my son's achievement, and it was a special time. We walked out to the large courtyard fountain afterwards, to see the sunset. Probably one of the best visits to an Italian restaurant outside of my "home area" I have had in quite some time... Visiting with my son's girlfriend's family, we decided to have a lunch nearby their hotel. After searching for a place I came across this one, and as usual, my fellow Yelpers did not fail me. The ambiance during the afternoon sunlight is very casual and laid back, it felt good to be relaxed in such an upscale and tidy decor. There were seven of us and we were seated quickly as it wasn't busy at all. Though service was a bit slow - due in part there was only one waiter for the whole place and there were a couple of other patrons - it was mostly overlooked due to our large party having plenty of fuel for conversation. The menu is extensive and it's all in Italian, but thankfully the descriptions were in English. From the appetizers ordered by one group, to the complimentary bread that is provided, the starters were all good and flavorful. I liked the way they piled on Parmesan cheese on the bread - and I liked the bread's very crispiness as well. For lunch I had their fried calzone - very unique and very tasty - filled with mozzarella cheese and pepperoni. My wife had their Cannanoli, filled with beer and with plenty of sauce. She couldn't finish it, such a good sized portion. The desserts were good as well - she had their chocolate cake and I had one of their offerings of gelato - chocolate everything, from the powder to the filling. I want to preface this review by saying this is only the Second 1 star review I have ever left. This restaurant needs to pay attention to the downhill trend that their customers are voicing. Fix the service, the food and the AC! If you are planning to go here, you may want to give it a bit and let them course correct. My husband and our good friends were looking forward to a great dinner on Saturday, August 22nd. We made a rez for 4 people@7:00. We were greeted immediately and sat. There was no Air Conditioning, very hot in the restaurant. We were then ignored for 20 minutes while every other table was clearly being attended to. A server finally came and asked us if we were ready to order. We said we needed a wine menu. We ordered person a bottle of sparkling water and the other three said regular water was fine. A bottle of STILL was set on the table and the rest of us received our regular water. One person ordered a glass of wine and it was brought 10 minutes later. Just the beginning of a comedy of service and food errors to come. We ordered several appetizers and our dinner at the same time, which the server asked us to do. 3 of the 4 of us are in the hospitality industry - restaurant owners and a very seasoned Manager. We all assumed the server would time our apps to come BEFORE our mains. 1 main entree came first, followed by ALL the apps and mains at the same time...What?? The apps ordered were...Burrata Con Pomodoro Fresco, Bruschetta Al Pomodoro and Arancini Vari. The burrata was $18 and was the smallest piece of burrata I have ever seen, along with large pieces of tomato that were so hard I could not cut them. The bruschetta was supposed to come with bacon (there was none), mushrooms (scant at best) and smoked mozzarella (very little). The arancini tasted stale and flavorless. All apps were a ZERO and at this point we were really hoping that our mains were edible. Two of the four mains were wrong. We talked to our server and let him know we were given the incorrect food. The server asked us again what we ordered. He said we received the right food. We said, no, we did not as the ingredients on the menu were not what was sitting in front of us. The chef came over and tried to explain it away. We were very respectful, however, we were not having any of his explanations as he was very wrong. He asked me what I ordered, which was the Gamberi E Porcini Con Panna-fresh pasta with shrimp, porcini, creamy sauce. There was no shrimp, white button mushrooms (I asked the server what kind of pasta and he told me it was Tagliolie) and squid ink pasta (which I don't like and that is why I asked). The chef gave a lame explanation that it was "colored pasta" and he couldn't use all porcini- I showed him my plate, which he cooked, and I said there were no shrimp and no porcini. He asked what else I wanted, I ordered the eggplant parm and thought how could he screw that up. Well...I found a deep fried squid in my pasta and something else that crunched like the texture of hard cereal...gross. I ate 3 bites and needless to say, I was done. The second entree that was incorrect was re-cooked and the pasta was so soft it was like mush and covered with enough sauce for 2 entree's. We live around the area and we will never go back. So completely disappointing. We gave the server and the chef PLENTY of opportunities to make things right. They did not make anything right and it was probably the worst experience from the service to the food that any of us could remember. It's sad, this place used to get great reviews and there have recently been MANY not so great reviews. The menu changes and the food was well prepared and very fresh. I ordered the pork shank and it was out of this world tender and extremely delicious! The spaghetti was just a little under cooked. As desert we had the most amazing Tartufo, Italian desert made with chocolate, simply divine.The staff is always friendly and attentive and the food overall is excellent! For those that are expecting those large so called " Italian" cheesy plates you usually find at chain restaurants, this is not the place for you, but their servings are generous any way. For those people that appreciate gourmet and real Italian food, yes, this warm new restaurant is for you. When 2 of 4 entrees are wrong, and the waiter insisting it is correct, then the cook comes by and says, yes, Fruita de Mare, but you'd order Buccatini, you wonder how it went so wrong. The appetizers arrived after one of the first courses, and the pasta was so far past al dente as to be mush, you just have to realize that nothing will improve. When spaghetti and meatballs is awful, then you realize that not only do these people not care, you realize there is nothing you can do to get them to own up to it either. We should have listened to the other 1 star. The servers are confused and unskilled, service was horrid, food was worse. My recommendation, anywhere but here. It's a shame, because the ambiance is pure Italian and lovely, but you can't eat that. read more

I've visited Peperoncino twice now and, in Peperoncino's case, the Yelp rating system is spot on. I am a fan, as the four stars I am giving Peperoncino suggests. Located in Dellagio next to Stogies Cigar Bar, Peperoncino might be missed but for the great job it has done promoting itself on SLR. It's decor has a European feel to it -- not that I can really explain why that is the case, if I am honest about it -- and the staff has been friendly and attentive during both of my visits. Outdoor seating is available for guests who want to dine outside. I ordered a vegetarian panini on both of my visits and it was prepared on both occasions with the freshest of ingredients -- both roasted vegetables and artisanal bread -- with a perfect balance of herbs and oils. Presentation was quite appealing, with the sandwich nestled on a bed of baby greens. The portion size is not huge, but it is satisfying. Indeed, on my second visit, I told my lunch companion that I wanted to go to Peperoncino for the food and the portion control! My companion for both lunches at Peperoncino enjoyed the Polpette -- spaghetti and meatballs. On both occasions, the pasta was perfectly prepared and the meatballs flavorful. Peperoncino offers a more intimate setting than Bravo! for visitors to Dellagio and although Bravo is good, Peperoncino is better (on a hundred point scale Peperoncino would earn 85 points and Bravo only 71, but because Yelp only allows 1 to 5 stars, my rating for both is 4 stars). read more

This place is an abomination and highly deceiving! The pictures of the menu on Yelp are EXTREMELY outdated. Right now I went with 4 people (party of 5 in total) and we paid over $300 for mediocre food (no appetizers just main course). Service is nothing special. The waiter brought us bottled water at the beginning without even asking so we assumed it was free but then he ended up charging us $16... WHAT!? And he brought bread to the table without asking and ended up putting it on the bill. When the bill arrived we said okay whatever we'll pay. The waiter takes our card and goes to pay but comes back and says we're all good no need to sign for anything. I look at the bill and he gave himself a $60 TIP! Without me even asking!! The manager comes over and tells us a bunch of hogwash about people not leaving tips but that's not my problem, you can't punish customers by putting your own tip because of others. This is insane and down right wrong. I've never heard or seen of this policy and according to the law this policy needs to be CLEARLY stated on the menu AS WELL AS the bill which it is not. During our week in Orlando we went to Deep Blu and The Rusty Spoon (after we had been here), and while they were both good in their own right, we kept comparing both against Peperoncino and the bar had been set too high. Strongly recommend this restaurant. Had to change our reservation and they were extremely accommodating. The setting is small and intimate with an open kitchen that is extremely inviting. The food is authentic Italian and they have two menus. The first is comprised of their signature dishes while the second is a new menu each day. For context, the chef and co-chef could be heard speaking Italian to each other throughout the night. The waiters were all extremely knowledgeable and willing to answer every question we had. We also learned that one of the amazing deserts on the menu was made by one of the waiter's (Italian) mother. A real family affair. To the food. The bread they serve was warm and dusted with fresh parmisian. We started with the antipasti platter which was very fresh and had a nice accompaniment of hot peppers, olives, and pickled onion. My girlfriend had the spicy sausage (house made) and ricotta stuffed bell pepper that came with a side of pasta, this was a daily item so it might not be available. I had the Cioppino which had an abundance of fresh seafood including scallops, mussels, clams and shrimp. It also comes with sausage, for a small up charge I swithced it to the in house made spicy sausage. Well worth it. For dessert we had the tiramisu. Wish this restaurant was closer to home. read more

You don't judge a restaurant by how well the chef executes the most complicated dish on the menu.You judge quality by how well the simplest of dishes is executed. I'm a big fan of Italian food. I am lucky enough to travel a lot for work, and I visit restaurants as much as I can. In an Italian restaurant, on your first visit, you need to try the spaghetti bolognese. It tells you 2 things: whether they can cook pasta, and whether they take the time to make a simple dish well. A bolognese sauce is not difficult to make, but it needs attention and time. How can you trust a restaurant that botches a simple thing like a Bolognese sauce? What other corners are they cutting? This was not well executed. I note the following: 1) The pasta was overcooked, likely re-fired. 2) The sauce was watery and bland. Could not taste the tanins either. Probably no wine in it. 3) Focaccia dough looked industrial. 4) Wine by the glass comes at room temperature, way too warm in Florida. I will give a star for service, decor, cleanliness of the dining room. This is not saying that you can't get this kind of experience in Italy. As a matter of fact I have.
